He was nice and courteous kept asking if we needed any more help and he was just amazing. I give him five stars! However, the facility gets zero stars; read my experience below On 6/18 I had an appointment to straighten out my Social Security card. It basically took me two days of calling to get this appointment .Once I got there, the guards were extremely rude asked me over and over again if I had an appointment. They asked me what the appointment was for they said well, we can't help you and we don't know why you're here. They wanted me out of there ASAP! I began to tell them that I spoke to someone on the phone and they were the ones who gave me the appointment for today! Anybody knows that you can't walk into the Social Security office and you have to make an appointment! I don't know why they think they're above the law. They're just rude. And they need to get over it. I would give this place a zero star, but that's not a choice. It wasn't until I got to the back and spoke to someone and he made me feel better. I'll give him a separate review, but for right now this place is getting a zero star Update: apparently I can't do two reviews, but Fernandez was amazing. He was so nice.

We stopped in last week and the office wasn't as busy as we remembered during prior visits. The guard told us that we could drop off our packet in the box and they'd get to it sometime in the future. It's disappointing that we can't walk in and wait to meet with a live person anymore. Street parking was readily available in front of the office.

Helping a friend navigate the complicated medical system...after several phone calls he was told he…read morehad to make a trip here to "release" his request for healthcare. I'm fortunate to get healthcare through my employer so by no means am I an expert on seeking healthcare in the open market, but let me tell you something - the process for folks who don't have employer healthcare options is not only broken, it's down right pathetic. I attempted to jump online and figure out the process and it was tough for me to navigate...I can't imagine what seniors go through when they attempt this. Could be why so many don't have a healthcare plan...it's a complicated mess! And I could easily see how he made his mistake online, both the Covered California and Medi-Cal sites are filled with links that lead you in circles. So after 3 hours of waiting in an over-crowded room (oddly the room looked much like the websites with signs, placards, multi-language videos and maze like booths and sections) he had the info he needed and his record was "released" and he can now proceed with private insurance. Yippee! Sadly this place isn't going to win any prizes for aesthetic and service is iffy - though I was able to get us to the right place by asking key questions, it was as if we were bothering folks. One gentleman standing next to the security check was very helpful and friendly too and a very nice lady got us to the right line. Speaking of security check, I was scolded for being a too quick when walking through the metal detector and scolded for not paying closer attention to the purse check. I'm not fazed by a scolding or two. Our tax dollars at work and the nicest thing I can say is this: do what you can to avoid having to visit this office in person. Social services are important to many, in my opinion this quagmire we call government programs are not exactly streamlined or efficient.

Keep in mind she was also 30 minutes late to my phone interview, coming at me with an attitude that my new application is misinforming when I'm giving her all the information and circumstances. Her brain isn't connecting the dots. She stops the interview and tells me to come in person and schedules me for a 10PM INTERVIEW. She makes it my problem to deal with and never addressing her incompetency. You've got to be fucking lying. Who's hiring these people? Later she's trying to make it my problem again by scheduling me for another in person interview and the mail just got to me a day after her new scheduled date. These mofos don't understand food is an essential need.

Hello my friends!! Bonjour mes amis!! My older brother…read moreserved our country as a Vietnam Era Veteran in the US Army. He had just turned 18 years old when he volunteered for duty. I remember him going up to Fort Ord at Monterey he described beautiful red toned sunsets and intense training. The Vietnam War 1960 to 1975 was still happening when he joined in 1973 I believe he wanted to be "In Country"(Vietnam) but he was at overseas assignment in Germany when the war was coming to an end. The Vet Center did an outstanding job in helping our family to get a copy of my brother's "DD 214" military service record after his passing which was needed for a state agency. If you have a Veteran in your family it's a good idea to have their DD 214 for your family records. I was appalled at how dirty this place is and the location doesn't even have spots demarcated for Disabled Veterans. After living in other cities and states holy crap does LA do a horrific disservice to us veterans! I will not waste my time here. First impressions matter, so if I was sent here, am a CA native who is already in the VA West LA system why do I need to present you with personal and private information that you should already have? This is one of the reasons I enjoy the efficiency of other newer VA Choice programs, we should have the right to choose providers who are convenient for us in our local communities not be forced to go to a base, these places, or a VA. This place specifically did not meet any of my needs and further exacerbated my reticence to attempt anything even tangential to VA.
