With only 10 days to get this done and having had over 10 yrs of experience going through plan check, it made me worry. Most small projects they will review over the counter, but you never know since each city has their guidelines. I heard rumors about El Segundo being really picky with their projects so it made me even more worried that I wasn't going to be able to pull it through before my trip. I called the building dept. to double check on the requirements and they were pretty helpful. I stopped by the B&S and the entire process took about 15 min! Including clearance from the Fire Dept. I was really surprised with the speedy process. Needless to say the client was very pleased. Three months have passed by and the client has not yet started construction...Sigh.

We stopped in last week and the office wasn't as busy as we remembered during prior visits. The guard told us that we could drop off our packet in the box and they'd get to it sometime in the future. I was stopped for a license plate cover violation--which, honestly, I didn't even know was a thing. She told me it wasn't anything serious and that I'd just receive a verbal warning, but still asked for my license and registration and ran my information. Now, I understand procedure... I do. But there's something about being told it's minor, yet still feeling like you're being checked for something more--that part lingers. What also gave me pause was that backup showed up. And it made me wonder... if a routine traffic stop requires two officers, why not just have two officers in the car to begin with?

Officer Presgraves has been there for the family of the victim every step of the way. I met him earlier this week at the one year memorial and saw firsthand the generosity of heart he shared with the loved ones and with us. He is an angel in uniform and I am grateful for his empathy, his continued dedication to the case and his personal connection with the grieving family.

I recently requested an officer as a witness for me dropping off my work items with my employer. I…read moregave my two weeks notice and the company I worked for used the time falsely accused me of things. I am a driving instructor and felt like I really needed the officer to be there. One of the times the officer showed up I was returning the work vehicle with the work files. The officer asked me about the situation which I brought him up to date on. He seemed to be on my side at least from what he responded. Then we went to turn in the items to the office but I went in and he did not and he didnt stand near the door either. Its business hours and he could of been closer. He stood away from the business. I didnt think that was any good because if something is done to me in the office he cant see through the wall. Then another time I called for an officer to be there as a witness because I had to pick up my last check. The officer showed up and it happened to be the same one. This time I asked him if he can be closer to the business and he got super upset. He said you cant tell me what to do! Or how to do my job! I have better things to do than be here! I think you want to intimidate the business. I apologized to him if he thought I was trying to tell him how to do his job but I told him about last time that he couldnt see what was taking place in the office. His response was, I dont need to see, I have ears!..I dont know how good his hearing is but the point of the officers having that body camera is so it can capture the situation. Anyway so this time he stood further from the business. He was in the corner and peeking out. Luckily this time I didnt have to go in the office and the manager brought my check outside. He looked confused and asked me if that officer spying in the corner was with me. Then after I received my check. The officer tells me hes staying and will go talk to the business about driving lessons. I thought he had better things to do than be there . I was really disappointed in the way this officer is being a witness. Instead of him making me feel better he made me feel worse. He accused me of me trying to intimidate the business which is not true. He could of spoke to the business and said hi im just here to make sure everything goes nice and smooth on both ends. Instead of him being far from the situation and being weird about it. I believe this officer has problems with women. He got too upset for my question if he could stand close this time. He didnt have to be rude. He could of told me he cant or asked why. Just seemed very heartless and defensive. I contacted the police department and spoke to his watch commander but doubt anything will be done about it. I asked them to view the camera footage and see how the officer over reacted over my question. I think more training should be given to this officer. Who knows if he has treated others just as bad or worse.
