They also carry stunning leather bound books along with drawing supplies for the artists and creatives out there. Wandering through this bookstore felt like stepping into a magical little world that I genuinely did not want to leave. Even though we stopped in close to closing time, the owner never once made us feel rushed or like an inconvenience. She was incredibly welcoming, kind, and happy to have us there. This is exactly the kind of local shop I will happily return to again and again, not just to continue exploring the endless stacks of books, but to support and see the wonderful people who run it as well.

They sell vintage books, clothing , fanciful items, handmade bookmarks, and upcycled jewelry amongst antique furniture and comfy seating areas to read books. One can spend hours browsing new and old books in this bookstore for hours. The Netflix Series: The Summer I Turned Pretty was filmed there - starring Lola Tung, Gavin Casalegno and Christopher Briney. The bookstore was filmed in the scene where Laurel and Susannah see writer Cleveland Castillo at the Whale of a Tale bookshop (Episode 1.3) (Episode 1.3) One of the most unique and joyful bookstore experiences I ever had in my life. They offer $60 for a nearly brand new book that they are selling for $180. Still better, but Amazon will give me $120 for it so that's a no brainer. Also, a while back I tried to sell back a textbook I bought for $90, but they only wanted to give me ONE DOLLAR for it (even though they were still selling it for the original price and it was being used the next semester). Not sure if I can blame this particular store as we all know that textbook prices everywhere are out of control, but still. I gave them 2 stars for the free scantrons and nice staff, but I heard from someone they are no longer doing that.

It was not quite a full-on shopping mission, more of a reconnaissance run to see what might be worth nudging Santa about. The calendar selection was solid, with plenty of themed options. There were quirky, educational, scenic, and pop culture varieties stacked and ready. Prices are full retail this time of year, which is expected. If you are calendar hunting and not in a rush, the real deals kick in after January 1, when unsold stock gets marked down. But if you are browsing for gift ideas or just want first pick, it is worth the early look. Beyond calendars, the store has a decent spread of board games, puzzles, and novelty toys. Some of those are already discounted, especially the seasonal or clearance items tucked toward the back. It is the kind of place that rewards a little poking around, especially if you are shopping with kids or looking for something lighthearted to bring to a gathering. All in all, it was a pleasant detour. I did not leave with a calendar this time, but I left with a few contenders in mind and a clearer sense of what might land on my desk come January. Neither the man nor the woman behind the counter greeted us or acknowledged our presence. When I browsed the puzzle section, the woman looked directly at me and still did not speak. What stood out even more was the feeling of being watched rather than welcomed. I noticed the woman repeatedly zooming the store cameras toward members of my party, while the man appeared to be "straightening" already organized merchandise while closely monitoring us. As for the merchandise, there was nothing particularly unique or special. Most of the items could easily be found at a large retail store for a similar price. Overall, the experience felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I would not return and cannot recommend this store.
