I had a great experience with threading at Usha's today. My eyebrows were caterpillar-status and I needed help. The last several threadings I did (somewhere else) left me with messy brow shapes that didn't suit my face. After some research I found Usha's and I'm so glad I did. My brows haven't looked this good in several years. The threading did hurt more than other threadings I've experienced in the past but I made it through - no pain no gain. I love threading and for some reason there is not nearly as many threaders in MD as there are in NJ. I have been looking for an experienced threader and Yelp led me in the right direction without having to go to the middle of a public mall. Usha is very professional and knows what she is doing in terms of keeping your natural shape. My brows look so good after she finished that I couldn't stop staring at them! I have been to the Baltimore location, but recommend only getting your brows done by Usha. It is $12 for eyebrows, but don't forget to tip. read more

I have followed Usha for years since she was located in Parkville. Her salons in Towson and Federal Hill are both clean and offer ample parking. Although I have only visited the salon for threading services, but a variety of services are offered, and specials are ever changing for massage, waxing, etc. There is never a long wait and appointments for threading are not required. I use to have thick, lavish brows. Thanks to Usha, not anymore. Last year my eyebrow girl (not affiliated with Usha) got married and moved to Ireland. I spent almost a month looking for a replacement. Usha seemed like the best choice based off of online reviews. They're all supposed to be "brow experts!" At least, that's what I thought. When Usha did my brows I told her beforehand that I just wanted a clean up, nothing drastic. A cleanup normally refers to removing the stubble that's grown in since your last wax/thread. Perhaps Usha didn't understand what a clean up was, because she removed half my eyebrow. When I walked out of her "spa" my brows were the thinnest they've been since high school. I waited three months for my brows to grow back, but in some places they are now spotty. I have since found a true brow expert and after a consultation she revealed that Usha damaged my hair follicle. Almost a year later I still don't have hair in those spots. I am very disgusted with Usha and the positive reviews I found online. Eyebrow threading requires patience and technique, you can't call yourself a brow expert just because you know how to pull hair. I would not recommend Usha for eyebrows. She should stick to hair removal for the arms and legs and avoid the face. read more

I have been going to USHAs for years and would let one only other person outside of USHA do my eyebrows and she happened to leave a couple of years ago. Since then I only let USHA do my eyebrows when in Towson. I recently went in to get my eyebrows done because I was in the area and I desperately needed USHAs touch and to my dismay I ended up with TWO PENCIL stick eyebrows. I ran into this with her before (not this bad) and from that point on I made it a point to tell her to not thin my eyebrows out every single time I sat in her chair and it turned out great. This one time I forgot to tell her and it is a catastrophe. My husband and daughter basically looked at me like a pariah. I went straight in the house, haven't left since and cried and I don't know if the rest of the public will think I look ridiculous too. They look so ridiculous that I might as well fill them in with black liner like it's the 90s along with black lip liner, that's how bad they are. I'm not taking away from her skills, but my only advice is to tell her how thick and the shape you want for your eyebrows every time you get in her chair. It sort or reminds me of hair stylists who are scissor happy. Hopefully my eyebrows fully grow back being that I have been dealing with some overall hair issues. I hadn't been to Usha's in years, this past Saturday I had an appointment in the Towson area and decided to stop in. The salon was busy. As I walked in, I was told to sign in and have a seat. Just like that, no "hi", "how are you", "how can I help you" - just sign in and have a seat. I signed in and proceeded to sit in a chair against the wall, before my bottom touched the chair I was told "second seat". I am not sure why the staff chooses to bark commands in incomplete sentences at customers. I sit down and watch my threader apply hand sanitizer to her hands (Yay!) only to rub her hands in her hair to adjust her locks (Noooo!). She goes to work and it hurt like h#@!. I am a frequent threader but this was so painful I almost asked her to stop. When it was over she mumbled "lotion" because she had thread in her mouth I didn't know what she said, so I ignored her. She said "lotion" once again and i said no thank you. Again, use of complete sentences helps everyone involved. I was not given a mirror to see if I wanted to touch up any areas. instead I got up and headed to the receptionist desk. As I stood at the desk, the receptionist says "you want me to ring you up?" Ok, maybe it's me, but this is not what I would expect the receptionist of a salon to ask as I'm standing waiting to pay. If i would have said no, would they have let me go without paying? I tell her I'm not sure what the process is for checking out. She then request my telephone number and I declined. She seemed perplexed as to why anyone wouldn't want to give their number. She then tells me my total, I tipped and I left. I would not recommend this salon. Nothing about it was relaxing or spa-like, yet the name includes day spa. There was loud conversation coming from the adjacent room that everyone could hear. The place looked cluttered. As I was walking out, someone else was walking in and the threader from across the room says "you called about your upper lip and chin, right?" This is wrong on so many levels. read more

Not impressed at all. Just moved here from San Diego about 4 weeks ago and am searching for a new salon to stick with and this def won't be it. I got a brazilian wax and eyebrow threading. I bought a Groupon deal for $35 which is REALLY good for those two services. My aesthetician was Gina and she was extremely kind. Talked with her the whole time and she made sure that I was comfortable. However I was pretty surprised when she told me that the Groupon deal only included the front and it was an extra $20 for the back area (anus). ALL brazilian wax's include everything, so I'm like what's the point in purchasing the Groupon if you're going to play this type of trick on us? So she went to the front to see if I can just pay $10, which they allowed. I was shocked by this. So don't buy the groupon if you want a real brazilian wax, that half mess makes no sense. Gina took her time and everything, but the wax just wasn't as neat and clean as I'm used to. I was all sticky afterwards and my design wasn't even neat. LOL I'm not going to say that I'm asking for too much when I know other salons are capable of doing it. So therefore I'll be finding somewhere else to go. Also, I got a design and usually they give you the option of trimming it down, and she said she had no supplies to do so. So I had to do that at home. Ladies I'm not sure about you but I don't like having to touch up something that should have been taken care of in the salon esp after paying for it. So maybe I got what I paid for....but that's not the case because I bought a groupon for the place back home and the service was superb. Another thing, my eyebrows....she left a good amount of hair on them to where I had to pluck some more when I got home. That's no fun at all....I didn't notice there was still hair around my brows until I looked super close in my car mirror. Maybe so many people in Cali get waxes and threading done that there's much more competition there that they HAVE to do a good job, and it's just completely opposite here. But now I know for future reference I'm going to have to take a closer work once they're "finished" The staff was nice and everything BUT I wouldn't recommend this place because it's all about the work they put in. read more

I went there for threading my eyebrows and waxing my upper lip and chin. My eyebrows went well, but the waxing burnt and scrapped the skin of my chin upper lip. Its been 3 days since and i still have pain and scars. I went back to the salon and I spoke to Usha and the staff. They were apologetic and send me back telling me to go buy neosprin ! The least I could have expected was more concern and help to fix my face.But nothing there and a lame promise to give me a free wax for my face. I go to Usha's to have my eyebrows threaded and they are FABULOUS. I first had it done in Kenya a few years ago as I'm allergic to almost every kind of wax there is out there. And since I came back I hadn't been able to find an eyebrow threader anywhere. About two months ago, I found this place. They used to be in Parkville but have since moved. It's a cute little yellow unassuming building just past the Burger King on Joppa Road near the Trader Joe's and Bahama Breeze. Usha is by far the best threader there as she is the owner. Your eyebrows will come out fabulously!!! The other ladies there also do a good job but the younger one seems to be a little heavy handed with the thread and I have a bit more discomfort with her...BUT she still does a great job! So if you're looking for a wonderful and affordable option to waxing or plucking you must visit Usha's. It's only $12 for your eyebrows and they also do your lip or other parts of your face, etc. Great place! read more

Usha does the best brows around! If you've never had your brows threaded, you must try it. I was first introduced to Usha by an Indian friend 11 years ago and have been a faithful convert every since. I like my brows fuller, but well shaped and had tried waxing, but would always break out after getting waxed (sensitive skin) so didn't exactly love going. The fantastic thing about threading is that it doesn't irritate your skin and minutes after being completed, there is no redness, puffiness, or breakout like you can get with waxing. Plus, the precision is much better with threading. Have also had facials here which were good, and always get my legs waxed here as well. The prices are well below usual market prices. Her new venue is much nicer than the old Hartford road site, but I would follow her even if she moved to the town dump - she is awesome! read more

I always come here to get my eyebrows done and usually when I leave my eyebrows look great! I've never had any issue going to new people people in the shop to get my eyebrows done but today I realized I can't do that anymore. I left very unsatisfied this morning because I let someone new thread my eyebrows. This tip may be obvious, but once you find someone that can thread your eyebrows well at Ushas stick with that person. I learned the hard way and now I have to walk around with uneven eyebrows. I went to get my brows WAXED and they assumed I wanted them threaded and so that's what I got. They never asked or specified what they were going to do. I told them "I was there to get my brows done" and asked how much it was. It's tricky to explain but they just didn't communicate with me at all. They just sat me down in the chair. When I realized it was threading, I went along with it because I've had positive experiences in the past. (It was $12 + tip which is really cheap and I was pleased with that price, but slightly concerned about the quality. I'm used to paying around $20-$22) The girl (she was young and I don't think it was Usha) threaded them pretty fast without asking me questions. I asked her to keep them full and keep their natural shape, because I have very full brows that have a great shape. I have a lot of stragglers and really long hair pieces to trim. Overall though, my shape is easy to follow; sometimes I'm given more of an arch, but otherwise people leave them alone and natural. But she made them SO THIN and completely ignored their natural shape! I was SO disappointed. She kept them long across my face (which is fine), but made them so so thin. The shape she "chose" just didn't make any sense...the stragglers vs. bulk of my brow are so obvious..I don't understand why she did it that way other than like not paying attention, rushing, or not knowing anything about how eyebrows should look. I've heard good things about this place when Usha performs the service (which is the only reason I gave this review 2 instead of 1...benefit of the doubt star). But I was/am really disappointed in my experience! I'm scared to go back even if it's Usha because why would I ask for bad brows a second time? I cant believe I've been living directly across the street from Usha for 8 months! The building is so unassuming I never could tell that it was a threading salon!! I usually do my brows myself since I've had so many bad experiences, but I'm glad I gave Usha a try! They did a great job! I went to Usha's today for the first time because I was searching for a new place to get my eyebrows done since my previous salon is now too far away. When I went in, my eyebrows still had a little shape from the last time I got them done and I showed Usha a picture that was what I wanted. She did a great job, doing exactly the shape I asked for. She was also pretty quick, I was done in about 5 minutes. My one complaint is that she didn't wash her hands (or use hand sanitizer...or something!) before doing my eyebrows after doing the person before me, which, after I think about it, is really gross because she rubs a lotion/creme on with her hands after she's done your eyebrows. Overall though, I was pleased. She did exactly what I asked and I'm extremely picky about my eyebrows and I'm happy with how they turned out. read more

I go the absolute best bikini wax from here. I was nervous, it had been awhile, and I'm not always keen on going somewhere new for this sort of thing. I got it as a treat for myself when I was going to Miami. Wow, what a great job. It took awhile to get waxed because the technician was so meticulous but it was totally worth it. It ended up lasting almost 3-4 weeks and I was very happy. Sadly, I moved from Towson to Locust point but I think I will drive back just for that. I'm new to the area and decided to try Usha based on the reviews here. I was sorely disappointed. I asked the girl who did my brows to maintain the current shape, and after she was done I had two different eyebrows! I asked her to fix the shape of one so they would match and she pulled out a few more hairs but they still weren't even. She also missed several hairs and grabbed my sensitive under-eyebrow skin a couple of times between the threads (ouch). She could have been new, since her thread kept on snapping, but I still don't appreciate having my brows butchered. Insult to injury: they charge twice as much as the place I went to in NYC (where I got perfect brows every time for only 6 bucks). read more

Moved to Baltimore from NJ/NY, aka the Mecca of threading/waxing places. After holding off for 2 years, I finally decided to try someone local when my lady in NY wasn't available during my upcoming trip. I grew my hair out for over a month before this appointment. Got waxed by an aesthetician named Sharon. Really personable. We talked the whole time and she constantly made sure I wasn't in pain. It took extra 20 min at the end of the appointment when I was checking over and pointed out several patches that she'd missed. She did take care of them. The owners eventually headed out for the night and so did we. 2 days later, my skin is mostly smooth but I'm finding more missed patches of very visible, long hair on my arms and legs that were also left behind. For $150 including tip, I shouldn't have to wax missed spots myself right after getting waxed professionally. It doesn't matter that she asked me to check over. I identified multiple missed patches during the appointment and that should have been a clue that there were others that I couldn't see (behind my legs/arms etc). Overall, the lady was nice, but I'd only go back if I were desperate and I definitely don't think I'll be a regular here. The search continues for a reliable local waxing place that does a thorough job without the customer having to supplement to get the job done. read more

A good threading place, glad to have found it and gone, but I'm a harsh critic b/c I used to live in South Asia. Stick to eyebrow threading only, and you're golden. I adore Usha! While I don't go that frequently (every 2-3 months) She always does the best job! Between threading, I shape up my own brows by tweezing. She is so good at giving you a natural shape. I've been coming to Ushas for years and honestly she is the only one I trust doing my eyebrows. She always shapes them nicely and I leave the salon knowing my eyebrows are on FLEEK!! Lol. The lady that sits next to her does a good job too. They also do manicures, henna tattoos and Brazilian wax too. Wow. I waited a long time to write a review because it took me that long to recover! My apt was a full leg wax & bikini area... first impression? Walked into the place and I was just stared at. Seriously. There were at least 4 girls sitting there (no one behind the counter) and they all turned to stare. At me. One of the ladies shouted "why was I there?". I'm not exactly accustomed to responding across a room "BIKINI & LEG WAX (and my name)", but whatever. Next horror? NAKED TIME IN THE SPA ROOM! Whoo! Apparently they forgot I had an apt, so after some inter-office discussion, I was paired with a nice lady. Who believed in naked time. As in, please remove ALL clothing and no she did not have little paper panties for me to use. Oh, and did I mention she never shut the door while I was changing? AND she stayed in the room as I disrobed? Maybe I was being overly sensitive or shy about being naked, but when it came to the grappling, manhandling and duct tape waxing I figured this was the LAST TIME I would be visiting Usha. (Of course, it could have been the HUGE missed hairy spots or the ingrown hairs or the rash....). AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

A friend took me to Usha's Salon years ago when she was located on Harford Rd. and we have been going back ever since. The salon is clean and inviting. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. I love getting my brows threaded, there is a little pain (I won't lie about that), but it is very minor and the outcome of getting your eye's threaded at Usha's is fantastic! Disclaimer: my rating is based on my most recent visit two weeks ago. I've had decent experiences here aside from this particular visit. I've been going to Usha for five years. I came in two weeks ago at around 2pm to get my eyebrows done. There was a lady there that I did not recognize, but I did not have time to wait for Usha, to do my eyebrows, so I had no other choice. I sat down in the chair and gave my usual instruction, I asked her to not make my eyebrows too thin and to not cut them with scissors. At no point, did I instruct her not to shape them. She finished with my eyebrows and they looked like two barely touched, round, and shapeless lines on my forehead. I asked her to add a line so that they had shape. She told me that she couldn't because "they wouldn't be even then". I asked her multiple times more to please fix them, and she denied the request. I paid for the service, and begrudgingly left a tip. I wish I had thought to take a picture of my eyebrows in this state, but frankly, I was too embarrassed of them. The very next day, I was forced to go to another place to have my eyebrows corrected. The lady that did my eyebrows at this place suggested that the lady at Usha might be new and maybe she was afraid to add shape and a line to my eyebrows. I'm not sure what it was, but I'm not willing to risk receiving the same service again, so I will not be returning to Usha. read more

The rating above is for the work done, however, my review is about something else. When asking for a pedicure, (at least in the Towson location) make sure you say the $35 pedicure. I asked for a "pedicure" and was charged for the Spa Pedicure, ($45) even though I did not ask for it nor did anyone clarify with me if I wanted the spa or regular one. I've been coming here to get my eyebrows threaded for about a year now and I always leave very satisfied. At first I would only go to Usha, but there were a couple of time where she wasn't there and I got my eyebrows done by someone else. I've taken this "risk" a couple of times and have never left upset. Walk-ins are welcomed. Never a very long wait. No frills. Tips are allowed on your card and if you get one of their punch cards, you get a free eyebrow threading after your 10th visit. I've never seen anyone getting their hair or nails on in here but I would definitely recommend their service for brows. read more

When Usha is away on vacation, stay away from this salon. I came in for just a clean up. I have grown my brows back, for months, into a much fuller shape. Now my brows are line - thin again after I explained that I need to keep them full and just need a clean up. The girl said, "yes, I will keep them full." Overrated. I've been going to Usha's for over ten years beginning at her old Harford Road location. The staff aren't friendly and the wait is always chaotic. The parking situation also sucks at the Towson location. I continued to go to Usha's for so long because I was happy with the way my eyebrows were done even though I have never been happy with the customer service. Now I have no reason to go back since there are more threading salons opening closer to me. I prefer to go elsewhere- where the employees are friendly and appreciate my business. read more

I had heard good things about this shop from a friend, and after seeing the positive Yelp reviews I decided to finally take the plunge and try threading. I walked in and was immediately seated with a stylist. She went straight to work, and 5 minutes later my brows looked clean and natural - exactly what I wanted. She gave friendly instructions during the lip threading, and finished everything off with some sort of cooling gel, which she said was Ayurvedic. The prices seemed very reasonable ($12 eyebrows / $5 lip), and everyone in the shop was friendly. I will definitely go back! read more

I have never been dissapointed and Usha ensures all of her employees are fully trained so you are still in good hands in case she is on vacation.
