If zero stars was an option I would select that however the lowest rating I can give is a one star. I was suppose to receive a shipment to Riverside on Nov 22. When my package did not arrive on the 22nd I checked the tracking number to see the delay. Low and behold my package was sent to Bell Gardens on Nov 18, however someone made a mistake and shipped it out to New Jersey. Lets keep in mind that Riverside is one hour away from Bell Gardens, I could have picked it myself. When I called customer support all they could do was apologize and say there was nothing they could do. It is not Nov 25 and the tracking systems says my package has been in Bell Garden facility as of 3:00am and would be out for delivery, however by 9:30am there was a message saying that the package would not be delivered on time. If you can avoid using USPS as your source of shipment I would suggest it so you do not end up the situation I am in. There are other shipping companies who can get it right, not sure why USPS can not. read more

I sent 6 boxes across the country to California, and this was the distribution center where one box was damaged and I lost 20 pounds (of 36 pounds) of items in the box. The box was held for another week there, its tracking number details not showing any problems, and finally forwarded to the destination a week later than planned delivery date. So I received the original box, all taped up, with no clear indication as to what happened (there were some markings, but no idea what it mean and nothing from the postal worker who delivered the package). It was not insured since things inside could not be broken, but I would have not expected things to be missing from the box as long as it made it. Well, the box made it, just not with everything in it. USPS website basically doesn't provide any information to strange circumstances, and sender and destination post offices have no additional information or further help. I was willing to give USPS a chance to keep my business, but now there is a reason why I will use other services as first, second and third choices. read more

My father sent a box of children's books and diapers to me in Brooklyn from San Jose (things I couldn't fit in my suitcase on my trip back home). When the box arrived days late it was severely damaged. One whole side had been ripped or cut open and the whole box was taped back together. The box was in disarray on the inside and contained 4 items that don't belong to me most alarmingly 2 urine samples from the CA Correction Institution. What??!! We could see from the on line tracking that the package had sat in Bell Gardens for several days. I decided to google the location just to see where it was on a map. Lo and behold I come across this yelp poo pile of reviews. Also saw that the LA Weekly wrote a scathing article about this post office. Why has nothing been done? Paying money for this? Even tho I live in Northern CA a lot of my stuff goes thru the Bell Gardens sorting center (I have an ebay business). If i check the tracking and notice its going thru Bell Gardens I always allow an extra 1-2 weeks as anything i mail seems to end up in this Postal "Bermuda Triangle". A package mailed from here on the 3rd got there in two days where it SAT for TEN DAYS before being shipped out. That is inexcusable for any business, and it isn't the first or even 2nd time this has happened. BELL GARDENS USPS GIVES USPS A BAD NAME. Ordered something that was sent from NJ and was supposed to arrive in the downtown LA area on March 8th. I get a notice by March 9th that it's delayed... which is fine. One day isn't bad. The tracking said it arrived in Bell Gardens at 11:58pm on March 7th... Departed Bell Gardens USPS facility March 8th at 3:55 AM, arrived at 90018 USPS at 3:55 AM on March 9th, a whole 24 hours later. I assumed it would maybe go out for delivery on the 9th, but I was wrong. I suspect March 9th arrival was an automated update and it was actually just sitting in Bell Gardens forever because I received no tracking updates for days after that. Nothing. No "out for delivery" notice. I called 90018 location. The first time, someone said it arrived at their office "today" (March 13th) and should go out for delivery on the 14th. 14th comes, nothing happens. I called 90018 that afternoon and spoke to someone else, who informed me that the destination information actually says Utah so it was probably returned to sender. ??????????? I checked with the seller and they said the label had my downtown Los Address address. I filed a complaint online and nothing happened. I finally got around to calling the USPS customer service number 4 days later on March 18th (one hour hold!!!!) who told me the same thing--- that it looks like the destination address was actually Utah and the last update on their system was the arrival at 90018 USPS on March 9th. The representative gave me a case number and said a supervisor would call me back within 48 hours (I assumed this meant 2 business days). I get a call back on March 21st from someone else about my case, and was basically told that I need to contact the sender and tell them to call USPS themselves an ask for the package to be intercepted and to not be delivered in Utah. So I did, but before the sender ever got back to me (they didn't call USPS), my USPS tracking info magically updated on the morning of 3/22. The line about it arriving at 90018 on March 9th was erased and the last old update was actually the "departed Bell Gardens" one from March 8th (like I honestly believe it never left Bell Gardens and someone was trying to keep the package forever until no one noticed and they could just steal it or something). ANYWAY, I obviously don't have proof of that but it's very suspicious. Tracking was also updated that morning to say it arrived and departed 90052, then to 90017, then to 90057, then sorted back at 90017 (what?), and then finally delivered around noon. So basically it took 2 weeks of delays and 3 phone calls for anything to happen. Luckily, my package was not tampered with, but I still don't know why they were gonna ship it to Utah when the label clearly had the Los Angeles address on the label. Not sure how USPS generally processs their packages, but it seems very inefficient and the tracking updates aren't always true. This particular location seems to be prone to messing up. I am not sure if it's general incompetence or if it's actually intentional (considering the other posts where packages were obviously opened), but the fact that complaints have existed for years and nothing has been done makes me lose trust in using USPS generally. This is the first time I've ever had a problem with a USPS package. Bell Gardens is screwing up. Someone needs to investigate. read more

this office is complete garbage. i shipped a set of dvds to a customer back in September. after being notified by the customer that the item hadn't arrived, i called the office. thereafter they gave me some crap about 'media mail being low priority' and telling me that it could take up to an extra month for it to be shipped. after calling the office four times, filing two different reports as well as a item inquiry report to consumer affairs, STILL nothing. this office needs to be shut down or restaffed ASAP. they're stealing, tampering, screwing about with people's mail over there. read more

Okay, please do not panic when you read these reviews about this place. Maybe some packages didn't get the chance to be delivered but not all the time. I've also panicked when I read these reviews while my package, which was my Alienware laptop, stuck at Bell Gardens, CA. Then later on, it actually came to my door even though it did pass the expected delivery date. So, just don't scare yourself when you read these. I really don't know about this specific post office. However, every time a post office take more than a couple of days, in my experience, packages comes up missing. I guess all these reviews are true to some extent, for me at least. I ordered a vintage laptop and it was delayed two days than the original delivery date, then it popped up at Bell Gardens aka "The Black Hole" as many call it. At that point I got extremely paranoid of what would become of my package, seeing how long other packages stayed there. To my luck, it was delivered today ( Feb. 10th, original delivery date was the 8th). The contents were fine surprisingly, the box however is a different story. I guess the brightly colored "FRAGILE" sticker doesn't mean anything to them. I shipped a media package from Brooklyn, New York to Los Angeles, Ca. I received my package within 9 days and when it arrived it was completely damaged/tampered with. The tracking number was torn half way off the box and the box was smashed in. I opened my box to find that half of my stuff was missing and the other half was filled with another persons mail. I was so devastated. I am in medical school and lost half of my medical books and medical notes. The books can be replaced but not the long nights and hours of studying that went into my medical notes to prepare for an upcoming nationalized standardized medical board exam. Now I have no notes to reference and study from thanks to the horrible handling of mail that took place at the Bell Gardens, CA USPS. On tracking my package online the last place my package was in route was at the Bell Gardens, Ca USPS center and it never was noted in the system that it was delivered to me. Based on the other reviews and internet searches about Bell Garden, Ca USPS, I honestly believe my package was tampered with/damaged at this location. For my package to make it all the way from NY and have this happen. This postal office/shipping center needs to be closed immediately. I don't understand why it is still open when complaints from this center date back to 2013 . . . smh! So disgusted. I have two packages sitting in Bell-Hell for a week now. I usually get any package from inside California within two days.

We frequently send our kids and grand kids packages (Priority Mail Service) form us in upstate NY. We track our packages if they don't arrive within three days. This is the second time in as many months that the idiots at the distribution center sent our package to Federal Way, Washington (state) and then on to Bell Gardens. It is literally, the "Black Hole of Calcutta!" A den of thieves and misfits and those who couldn't find their ass with a Search Warrant, I'm sure. Last time, our package was scanned in (I think even the package was shaking it was so frightened to be there) to Bell Gardens and was supposedly shipped out the next day according to the tracking info. Four days later it finally ended up in Vegas (the intended destination). I have driven that distance from California to Vegas. It usually takes me about four and one half hours. I paid for Priority Service and I got the freeking Pony Express. It finally took my package eight days to be delivered. This time, I am in fear that it is lost. I called my local postmaster for help and all he could do was make wise cracks.....NOT appreciated. He told me, "well, maybe they want you to get your money's worth!" I told him in order to get my money's worth they would have had to deliver it ON TIME within three days at the PRIORITY MAIL PRICE! I should have sent it FedX or UPS. Would have cost more but at least it would have gotten there and on time!...............idiots. Also, WHY they send it to Washington state first is beyond me. The expected delivery date was supposed to be monday but im not sure how its going to go from California to Florida in one day. This place is shady. From all of the other reviews and pictures ive seen on here, im not sure how its still running. It needs to be regulated. The last one being just this past couple of weeks. My question is, who is allowing this situation to go on? I haven't had issues with the Bell Garden Post Office, but man, is the USPS messed up in general. I recently moved and completely forgot about an auto ship order I had coming from HSN. When I got the notice that it was being shipped, I rushed to change the address, but it was too late. Two weeks after filing my change of address with the post office, they chose the very day that my package was to be delivered at the old address to start forwarding the new address. I'll just skip the part where I tried to intercept the package by giving the post office the tracking number -- I'm sure my call was answered by someone in India, who was very nice but not very helpful. Anyway, when I talked to my new carrier she told me the package would be forwarded but it would first be sent to Sacramento, which is about 65 miles from my house, and then sent back to Antioch, where I live. She said I should get it in a couple of days. I'm still waiting. I remembered I had the tracking number so I tried it. It shows that it went out for delivery at 7:58 a.m. and was deemed to be undeliverable at 8:08 a.m. Seriously? It was then sent to Bell Gardens, 450 miles away. Bell Gardens then sent it to Memphis, Tenn. Seriously? Memphis? It has now arrived at Richmond, which is about 30 miles away. I'm totally freaked about where it will go next. My Aunt sent Easter gifts for my children on April 10th from New York to CA. Things were going fine until it hit Bell Gardens. It was listed as a delay in delivery and I should get it by the 14th. On the 13th it showed in route to destination. On the 16th it was back in NJ. When I called customer service they said the shipping label must have been damaged and when it got back to my aunt she should take it directly to her post office and have them examine the package and open it there. It got all the way to her post office on April 20th and they sent it back to CA on April 20th. Yet again my package is sitting in the Bell Garden's Post office with a notice that delivery will be delayed. They receive the package on April 21st and it is still sitting there with no activity. Easter has come and gone along with my children's joy for the holiday. They were looking forward to their Easter bagels (which I am sure are green and moldy by now). I was told that every time the package is scanned there is a picture taken of it. Sent a package to my sister in law with things for her new baby and my other niece. Something went wrong with the address and it was being sent back. It is now stuck in this post office. Says it has not moved since October 28th. I called on the 29th and they said it was sent out and should arrive to me in the next couple of days. Appears as tho the package made it's way to Bell on 12/8 per tracking and hasn't been seen since. Have filed a telephone complaint with USPS and 2 internet searches, and went back to the original post office it left from. I have had 3 post office employees tell me there is nothing anyone can do, YOUR MAIL IS NOT GUARANTEED TO ARRIVE AT ANY SPECIFIC TIME (AS IT SAYS ON YOUR SHIPPING RECEIPT) NOR IS NOT GUARANTEED TO ARRIVE AT ALL!! Update: My package actually showed up. It was scanned into and out of bell gardens in the same minute and then nothing for 12 days till it scanned into local post office near delivery location. I'm happy it finally showed up....8 DAYS after it was supposed to deliver and AFTER Christmas but at least it delivered. Still won't ever use USPS again. I'm guessing my story is about to be like everyone else's. I sent a package home to TX for Christmas on Dec 12th. Went to Bell Gardens Dec 13th. Scanned "departed usps origin facility" bell gardens, ca Dec 13, 12:51am. Estimated delivery Friday Dec 18th, it's now Dec 22 and no package, no new scan, nothing. Talked to someone at original post office, it "should" deliver by the 24th but until it's scanned again, we don't know where it is. I'm so heartbroken, this is my first Christmas with my whole family in years and now no presents from me (not the point of Christmas but still). Never had this happen before. Beware of original facility too. I was under the impression that I was shipping priority, it had tracking and would be there in 5 days. Turns out, it was standard old snail mail, no insurance or anything. I probably should've asked more questions but based on what I told him I was wanting, I didn't think to specify more. Although other reviews have issues with priority packages too, seems shady that MULTIPLE standard mail packages go missing all the time. Seems like a scam all the way around. Get customers to unknowingly ship in the least protected way possible, then alert your buddy at processing facility to take package. Still hoping package will turn up but doesn't seem likely. I was in line today when Kim an African American woman asked what I was in for. I told her for shipping and showed her my box. She told me to step in the second register that was closed which I found it odd. She asked me what type of shipping I wanted, I asked for an estimate first. She told me she can only give me an estimate depending the weight and to step aside. Come on! If you're going to attend me, attend me completely and not half-assed! She first pointed a male Asian man and as the people came over me, I felt my anxiety level spike! I have PTSD and can't do huge crowds. My mom came in to check on me and saw me upset and waiting like an idiot. I explained my situation and she commented that it was not fair of them to place me know the middle of nowhere to be attended. Then the man had to leave so I had to wait for another cashier that was a woman. Another person wanted to take the line but I told her I was waiting for the next cashier because Kim told me I was next. The other client looked mad but let me take the next cashier. I finally got my estimate and had to, yet again wait till the other client left to finish my shipping. If Kim calls you with a closed register and want to shipp an item, DO NOT ACCEPT HER OFFER AND WAIT FOR A FULLY OPENED CASH REGISTER!!! SHE CAN ONLY HELP FOR BUYING STAMPS. I've been waiting on an envelope that began it's journey on February 25th, 2016. It was a Priority Mail 1-day service. It left Huntington Beach on the 25th. Went to Anaheim. Left for Tucson on the 26th and arrived on the 27th. It then went on to Phoenix on the 28th. It then fell into the black hole called the Bell Gardens black hole. It arrived there on the 29th and was given the ominous title of In-Transit Delayed. All this to get to Cerritos California. That's only 15 miles away! It's been stuck in the Bell Garden black hole for three days. The tracking updates are all over the place and conflict with each other. What a joke. My pregnant daughter moved to California in June. We had a baby shower for her back home in August. We had guests deliver gifts to her home in CA and asked they bring books to the shower to start the baby's library. I shipped those books via USPS - Media Mail (because they were heavy) on 8/12/15 from Illinois. I started calling after a few weeks and was told the last scan was in Des Moines on the 19th and they can't do anything until the package is scanned again!
