Usually USPS is on the low scale of customer service. Yet, the Postal Worker with the Island accent & no name tag put forth all her effort to extend good customer service. So much so, she was adamant to keep the line moving. While I was waiting for my turn, she delegated me to get out of line, grab my supplies, put my package together & come back to her to assist me. & gave me tape & a pen to boot. She was moving so fast to direct & lend a hand, I almost got offend. We both can't move that fast at the same time LOL. While she was assisting me & greeting other customers coming in, she kindly leaned in to let me know she was only trying to provide good service...well Sister, you did that. read more

This is the second time I've mailed an envelope from this location with a scannable stamp that was never scanned so it doesn't show up on the tracking and keeps saying "USPS is waiting for the item" like how can you be waiting if I was inside using the kiosk? Last time the envelope was actually lost and never made it to the destination so fingers crossed this time it's only lost on the tracking information!! read more

Hi All; This is definitely not a tape issue, much more egregious. After multiple experiences of rude and inappropriate treatment by staff at this store, I wrote the the manager a private email to try and alert him about all the details of my experiences as I had had enough of a series of systemic staff problems similar to comments about rude, unprofessional staff in other yelp and google reviews. His cavalier brush off as if this is "my" issue singularly is partially copied below and my reply to him is below that. I have known multiple people who also experienced the same poor treatment and were simply too busy or didn't have the time to seek out another location or complain. I run my own company and work 24/7 and if I ever got a comprehensive complaint after multiple incidents I would have a conversation with the customer to find out more and see what may be occurring with my staff. This staff and manager clearly make everything personal, not professional, and I highly recommend that if you care to be a respected consumer and get your service at UPS done proficiently without having arrogant attitude shoved down your throat, go to the nearby River Road location where the staff is nice, respectful. fast and efficient. Again, see the manager reply to my private email and see my email reply to him below that. I kindly removed the two employees names I included because it is obvious this is a top down poor management problem of entitlement per his reply. Also, don't believe the manager comments on Google that he is sorry to hear your complaints and please email him. Don't waste your time. Look at the majority of Google and Yelp reviews of your staff's treatment of customers; comments include "rude, lazy, shady, unprofessional and incompetent" in a number of complaints.This customer just decided to speak up and push back in person towards their rude, unacceptably inefficient and unprofessional treatment and take it up privately. However, it is clear it is indeed not important to you to take your customer's complaints seriously and that this is probably a top down issue of a manager/owner also not demanding professionalism and customer respect from his staff ( or a lack of care or awareness) Your defense and lack of accountability for these two highly inappropriate disrespectful staff members rings loud and clear. Staff treatment like has never occurred to me before in ANY store in Bethesda from the very basic fast food restaurant to higher end stores for the 40 years I have lived in and been a part of this community. And surely no manager has so cavalierly dismissed such a serious complaint and issue in my years of doing business with anyone. This place is awful. First I drive there and there is no parking at all. Second I get in the building, go up to the counter and ask to complete my application for my passport. The person at the front says there is no walk-ins after 2pm. On the website there is no walk-in hours. I go to the kiosk and select an appointment. On the kiosk itself, it says wall-ins are welcome and there is also no hours listed. I go to the front desk, they say "they need to fix that." I schedule an appointment and they only have hours from 9-2pm on weekdays. I over hear another customers conversation in which they are complaining. The worker says quote "Sorry to distort your reality, but no one ever complains about us." This is why I had to make this review. read more

This location offers a great customer service experience. It's close to Bethesda Row and has two self-service machines in addition to the people who work there. I had a Christmas package to send to family and within three minutes, the self-service machine helped me and I was on my way. Way to use technology to service your customers, USPS! read more

Scheduled an appointment at this location, for passport services. Specifically selected a location that offered photos. Arrived on time for our appointment and the person across the counter shouted at us 'did you bring your photos?' I said no, we made an appt at this location because it offers photo services, per the post office website and the Department if State appt scheduler.. they finally told us their photo machine is broken and that we needed to go down the street to get photos taken at FedEx, which would have been nice to know in advance. 15 min later we walk back in and are told that we would have to wait in the lobby for an indeterminate time because they took a family ahead of us. I asked for a time estimate and was told they could not give me one. So with two kids and the prospect of standing in a lobby waiting to be called for an appt I had made online a week earlier, we left. I definitely think they should have been more accommodating to our family for having been on time for our appt and not have taken a different family with a later appt time, ahead of us. read more

The worker who serviced me was rude af and had an attitude for no reason as soon as I got to her

Every time I come here, I feel like I'm being scammed. There's three different kiosks with envelopes and packaging. Some are for this kind of mail, some are for that. Some are standard. Which is which? What is just plain, standard mail? I shouldn't have to wait in line to ask that before filling out an envelope. On to the counter... This is where they seem to have replaced postal employees with racketeers. The first mail option, or price quoted, is NEVER, the cheapest, standard mail, but it almost always feels like they're trying to pass it off as such. So on this trip, I'm trying to mail some paperwork, and because it weighs more than 13oz, it doesn't qualify for standard mail. It can only be sent priority or some other super special ripoff level of shipping. So I say, this envelope that that guy next to you told me was cheapest (price wise) seems a little bulky, if I switched it for a plain manilla envelope, maybe I'd qualify for regular shipping. Without telling me the weight of my package, the lady reiterates that it's a pretty light envelope, and the $5.70 cost is my cheapest option, trying to hurry me along and get me to pay - even though it's not busy (one person waiting in line). Under the $5.70, is a cost for "media mail" at $2 and some change. I say what about media mail? She says what's in the envelope...? Seriously - like a trick question.. I say papers. She says that doesn't qualify. I say what qualifies? She says books and CD's. I say, so if I said it was a book, it would cost $2? I mean seriously, it was like an Abbott and Costello routine... So I say, well what's the weight of my package? She says 13.5oz!!! So the whole conversation, while I'm getting a run around, I'm a half oz from a completely different categorization of mail! And yes, a different envelope would have made a difference. I guess what bothers me is that this is more than one instance (happens in Rockville too). So this isn't happenstance. These people are basically trained to take advantage of you. At the post office. How sad. Yay! Amerika. Lessons? I guess I'll stop trying to guess which envelopes and packages are cheapest/apply to standard mail, and always buy my packaging elsewhere. In a few trips to this location it was evident that the employees care about customer service and they try to move things along. Yes, there is no parking and that kind of sucks. But it's downtown Bethesda. I don't remember USPS Offices in NYC having parking. All the whining in the paper about no parking is lost on me, especially considering that 80% of what people do at the post office is unnecessary. There are lots of self ship machines--and the thing that drives me nuts is that almost all of YOU who are waiting in line could use these machines. Why folks insist on waiting instead of the simple automated process is beyond me. And please just buy your stamps at the Safeway and stop waiting in line, delaying the guy who has to mail an international package. read more

Today, September 2, 2021, was my first time at this location. The line moved very quickly. Most importantly, the USPS employee I dealt with, Ms. Byrd, was great. She was patient, kind, and helpful. Without her assistance and attention to detail, my passport renewal application would not have been mailed properly. I can't say enough good things about Ms. Byrd. She has my thanks and gratitude, and the Pike branch has a loyal customer. read more

This location moved from their historic location next to the Bethesda Metro. It seems that they may have sold the old building to move here. The old place used to have bums sleeping in the lobby at night which made the PO BOXes hard to get to sometimes and also scarier. The new location is super clean and new with 24 hours access to the PO BOXes and the automated post office machine. The same people work from the old place transferred here so if you liked them (which I do) they are still here. This is one of the passport locations which also offers photos, so its convenient. The major drawback is that parking lot is not adjacent to the building. However there are metered parking spots, if available, close by. read more

The staff have always greeted me warmly, are quick to help, and offer alternative options when (like me) you may be doing something in a less than cost effective way. If I could leave no stars, I would. I had a horrible experience at this location where two employees belittled me for a mistake and talked down to reasonable requests. I came here to apply for a passport with unusual circumstances. The manager cannot be bothered to employ proper customer service for one. He first offered a belittling opinion about the safety of the country I was going to, unprompted, which I replied with the research I did at the State Department. He decided to shake his head and cluck his tongue at me. Okay, agree to disagree, not my problem. The camera was not working, despite my appointment made for a picture, so they told me to go 'next door' to FedEx, Which was probably the only helpful moment I had in all this. I come back and made the mistake of asking about the price when quoted a price that did not match what I saw when researching. I admit I made a mistake, but I asked where this price was sourced since it was three times what I was quoted, and the assistant comes in and laughs, literally starts laughing in a condescending way saying "Oh, nothing with the government is free" when the manager turns around and says "either you pay this amount or you don't apply for a passport today", when I asked why the price was different. Okay, I realize I made a mistake, apologized, and got ready to pay when the manager slams a printout from the State Department down and says "this is it, learn how to google and research your plans". The card machine here never reads my chip, so to pay for all this I go to do what I always have done and swipe, and both of them raise their voices at me and say "insert!" and when I do, as I expected, it doesn't work. They blame me when this is the only place where I have to swipe it, and it works after about five attempts, each one where they fuss at me over again for my card not working. I noticed they charged me for a picture despite them not providing one to me. They then give me a money order and the manager starts telling me how to fill it out unprompted, as if I was a kindergartener. The assistant is watching at this point, trying not to giggle at me. I finally take the oath for the paperwork, and I also learn that despite wearing the same sweater and makeup in the picture as what you are wearing now, you can still be asked to swear in the most asinine and condescending manner if that person in the picture is you. I then left after asking and getting another snigger and exasperated sigh and annoyed attitude if a potential upcoming government closure in two weeks may affect the process. I may live in hte DC area, but I don't know at the top of my head the exact odd way the USPS fits in the federal government, but it's good to know that it was apparently an unreasonable thing to ask one week out of the three week long scheduled relief from the longest government shutdown in history would affect a trip I am going on in two months. There is only one employee in this location that gives a damn about her job, and it is the older middle aged Asian lady here who has managed not to cite me too high rates and not laughed in my face when I ask a question. I was also given a blue pen to fill the paperwork out when the form says only black, then fussed at for having a blue pen. I've had this vibe more than once here, but today was a historic high for the attitude every employee here has that your time is not worth the same as theirs is, and you are lucky just to be allowed the privilege of coming into this sanctuary. I admit I made a misstep of my own or two, but being outright laughed at and treated like an asshole because I asked questions is the exact opposite good customer service. Unless you like being talked down to, enjoy dealing with sexist condensation (manager went from calling me 'ma'am' to 'miss' and treated me like a little girl and not an adult), and like having other employees stare and watch or giggle at you like a high school bully, I suggest Fedex. read more

Let me just say, I had a horrible experience and they need FURTHER professional training. The employee acted in such a disgraceful manner, that it seemed like he would always get away with it. I came in to drop off a package. One of the workers looked at me and said, "The next time you deliver this to us, you will have to cut the return label, tape the package, cut and tape the return label yourself." First of all, isn't that your job? I also did not have tape at home. He said and I quote, "wow, wooooow, wow." I said, "I have never had any USPS employee tell me that in DC or anywhere else for that matter." He said, "Hmm really? wowwww, wowwww." I said, "Please stop with the attitude." He said, "I'm not giving you attitude. We just don't cut and tape return labels here at this location." I said, "I can go somewhere else if you're giving me attitude." He continued, with a smirk on his face, "Where are you going to go?" I said, "Oh trust me, there are multiple USPS locations around Chevy Chase, MD. I also said, "If this bothers you so much, let me tape and cut the return label." He said, "Here you go." This could have easily been prevented, if he spoke to me in a different way and tone. He could have easily told me, "Do you mind using the tape and scissors to your right, ma'am?" A man SHOULD not speak to a young woman, let alone a human being like that. He wasn't doing his job. He seemed ANGRY about cutting and taping it/assisting me in general. He tried to exercise whatever LITTLE authority he had. Unbelievable! read more

Actually, the post office employees here are competent and friendly. The parking situation is AWFUL - no senior citizen could possibly hope to make it from the underground parking lot 2 blocks away to the actual PO. And the Passport guy Mike is a total jerk. Most of the time he does nothing while all the postal employees are working their behinds off. When I actually had a passport question for him he was arrogant and rude. I wish he could be canned but no doubt he's a invincible. read more

The mail lady at the claridgehouse apartments is soooo slow. A lot of times she's in there just talking on the phone. She gets later and later. And slower and slower. She is Asian and short and had black hair. I don't appreciate getting my mail at 6:30-7pm That is just plain ridiculous! read more

This post office is in a pretty good location, which also means that parking is a pain during rush hour. There is a small parking lot, but there are signs that state it's for Verizon customers only. The street parking is limited. However, it is on Wisconsin Ave so if you're nearby, it's pretty convenient. I've only been on Saturdays... and the people who run this office on Saturday... well, they're not unfriendly... they just don't go out of their way to make sure you're ok. In fact, when I've had questions about how to send out particular packages, the man (I always get him) just brushes me away and gets annoyed. He also is strange and is always asking me if I'm shipping things to China... I had a package for Hungary and he kept on trying to see if I meant Hungary in China. There is no hungary in China and no , please don't just assume all my mail is going to China. While that part was annoying, it's an okay place to send mail. It's cheaper than the Fedex nearby and they'll get your things out just fine. But if you're looking for quality service, this maybe it's the post office you want to go to, at least not on a Saturday. read more
