There are some days I go in and the lines are long and they don't seem to have enough staff to keep the line moving and I just want to scream. However, sitting at home where I'm relaxed if I'm honest and think about what was really going on I think they do a good job. When the lines are backed up and moving really slow what's usually the cause is lots of customers in a row with unusual services they need such as having 30 or more padded envelopes with different weights and each one has to be weighed so the correct postage can be placed on them and other unusual services being requested that are time consuming. During those times when the lines are long and moving very slowly if you listen to what the customers are saying you'll almost never hear somebody say they just want a book of stamps and that's all. Yes, it's frustrating, but the people working the front counter here really are doing the best they can which is pretty good. Could some of them smile a little more? Yeah, but if I were dealing with people who were mad and not taking into consideration that it's their oddball requests that keep slowing down the process of getting everybody served maybe I'd do my job with a straight face every day too. At least they're not grumpy so that's a good thing. The reason I'm only giving 3 stars is because the last 2 times I had packages being delivered I found a notice in my mailbox saying they couldn't be delivered because I wasn't home. Wrong. Both days I knew the packages were scheduled for delivery that day so I made sure I was home all day and nobody ever rang my apartment trying to deliver any packages. Both of those days I was home and I was sitting in my chair that is only 5' 9" from the very loud buzzer (yep I measured it so I'd know when I lodged a complaint at the post office) that sounds when somebody is ringing door buzzer for my apartment and never once did it sound on either day. Heck I live alone so on days I'm expecting a package to be delivered I leave the bathroom door open if I need to use it so I'll hear if somebody buzzes my apartment so I know for a fact my apartment was never buzzed and I just missed it. After this happening 2 times in about a 2 week period I went to the post office and complained and they got a man to talk to me and he took the information from me and explained he wasn't my mail carriers supervisor but since that man was gone for the day that he'd pass on the complaint along with my contact information so the supervisor could call me the next day. Well, it's been about 10 days or longer now and no contact from the supervisor who was supposed to call me the next day. Heck, I gave them my cell number so even if I happened to miss the call the supervisor could have left a voice mail for me, but I haven't received a voice mail either from the supervisor saying he called. If this is going to become normal that the carriers won't deliver packages I may have to start paying a couple dollars extra for shipping via UPS or Fed Ex since both of them deliver to your door. I've tried to be fair in my assessment of this post office, but making me drive all the way to the post office twice in 2 weeks to pick up packages when I was home all day both days doesn't really inspire me to want to give them more than a 3 star rating. read more

the people in the post office are fine and almost always 5 stars. BUT, my mail carrier is a darn fool. leaving a package in a box that doesn't fit in the mailbox propped between the mailbox and a wooden post. if it were brought to my door like they have done for others on my stree, at least I have a ring doorbell. Out there in the open a theft is so easy to accomplish. I was told that the carrier doesn't have to bring packages to the doorstep. get rid of the post office and make it a private service. This is not the first complaint I've had. read more

I'm not sure what more you can expect from the post office, but it's pretty average. There is a nice self-serve station were you can get stamps and even mail packages. If there is a line it might take 5 to 10 minutes to get through if there's three people on the counter. It's also a small section where you can pick up boxes/packages to mail, but there's no tape so you would need to buy a roll of tape to wrap it. Also, I didn't see any pens out in the open, but perhaps they were hidden? There's hundreds of PO Boxes here. I've never had a bad experience, but again what more can you expect from a post office. read more

If you have to go here, I'd recommend using the self serve kiosk. If for whatever reason that service is down (which happens often) then you'll have to deal with extremely rude workers at the desk that will find any way they can go up charge you, or force you to repackage your items, all while talking down to you. read more

The Post Office definitely has some issues in my community, but whenever I've had concerns, they have been responded to and taken care of by Supervisor Mary who has been FANTASTIC! She is an incredible asset for the Postmaster. She is genuine, intelligent, friendly, and efficient. Unfortunately that has not been my experience with Renee. read more

First I wanted to return my item on ebay. First day I went and ship the item and I take 30 minute waiting in line after that they return the package to my home and said that the box is to big for first class shipping is that my fault? I shipped it at counter and they didn't say anything. I didn't get my money back and the second day I went there again now I take 1 whole hour in line and I'm gonna missed the last bus and it is also return deadline I decided to catch the bus because there is only 3mins left before the bus leave I don't want to stay there all night so I ran out from the post office I don't even get the change also the tracking number so I tried to call usps customer service to keep the reciept for me but I take 2 hours to figure out how to speak with real human by myself and another 1 hour on hold. They said they will call me back in 19-29 mins, but after they called me they instantly hangup and they called me again in another 30 mins and all I got is local post office number that I already known. I called that number and all they have is robot voice and send a appointment message so I send them a voice message my name, my phone number and I tell them to please call me back. They don't call me back so I go back to post office again to ask them about tracking number. They said that they CANNOT recover tracking number for me. Okay ,I just lost 350$ 300$ on item that I return and another 50$ from item that I shipped two times. I just wondered how they can't recover the transcation. So how they track their money? They don't even tried to help they just keep saying there is no way we can help you. Now I get nothing back shipping cost and my item that I shipped too. read more

USPS in Hopkins, Mi has a different person there now who acted like she was horribly inconvenienced from the moment I walked in. Had small packages to go out with prepaid and printed postage on them. Asked for something showing I dropped them off. She said "We don't do that here". I knew they didn't have the printed receipts like the bigger offices but have always been given something everywhere else. Seems odd that when I travel and use the small town MI offices in Grand Marais, Rothbury, Seney, and Evart, they always provide me with the tracking numbers and stamp a date on the paper they give me for my records. This gal tosses a post it note pad at me and walks away to the other end of the counter. Mind you I'm the only person in the room. So I ask her to scan them in the system so I know they get entered, you would have thought I asked for her first born. If I were at home I would scan what ALL the other small offices have always given me. She refused to give me anything showing I dropped them off, wanted me to do her job by tossing the post it note pad at me. I have never been treated like this at any other location! This girl needs to take a customer service course, guess I'm used to the great friendly service I get at the Saugatuck PO, the Grand Marais PO, and the others mentioned above. We work in the service industry and this is exactly how you DON"T treat people if you want to be good at your job. read more

Once again we tried the Hold Mail service, and once again it was not delivered when scheduled. We asked for delivery on Saturday since we returned from a week away on Sunday, and we knew there would be no mail delivery on the Monday due to Presidents' Day. There was no mail in our box on Sunday night, it's now Monday and of course we can do nothing about it until tomorrow, Tuesday, 3 days (three days!) after it should have been delivered. Do I trek down to the post office tomorrow morning, like I did last time, only to be told the carrier has it out for delivery? That's what we did last time, but surprise! The carrier did NOT deliver it even then, so once again I had to go to the PO to ask them to search for it. It was finally found "on a shelf" in the back. Or do we wait until after tomorrow's delivery and potentially have to go downtown tomorrow afternoon anyway? We like and appreciate our carrier, but will not likely use Hold Mail service again.
