Great food! Good service! And adequate ambiance. I enjoyed my meal and the food came out fairly quickly. I had 1 skewer of chicken tikka with rice, hummus, and pita bread. There is plenty of parking and the dining area is large. Great for groups.

Best halal Middle Eastern I've had in a while. The beef tenderloin was tender, kafta was juicy. Bread was fresh, nice chewy texture. Hummus was smooth with plenty of tahini, not sour or beany. Everything was good, including falafal and califlower. Service was friendly and patient.

Every bite was so delicious! Highlights were the tenderness and flavor of both of the kebabs (chicken and koftha) and the pita + hummus. I can tell all the ingredients are high quality, even down to the salad that came with it. Definitely get the tahini and jalapeño sauce as well! The service was amazing, and they gave me some recommendations as it was my first time. Will be back!

THE BIG: Located in northeast Austin inside the Northgate shopping center. Very big interior with minimal decor. Plenty of parking spaces in the lot outside, however the curbs are very tall, so be careful with a small sedan in parking. THE BLACK AND WHITE: We came here for a pickup order since the wife was feeling mediterranean. This place has the decor and windows of a legit middle eastern restaurant. It's pretty big from the inside. Here we got the lahmbiajin Pita, Naan and kabab combo plate. The lahmbiajin resembled the viral egg in the middle pita (khachapuri), but with just meat and peppers. Still very delciious. The helping of pita was very generous and the meats were nice and tender. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall damage done for three items was around $37, which is a great deal in my opinion. Will be back!

Outstanding meal! Fresh, authentic and a lot for what you pay. We had the kafta kabob meal. The flavor was so good. The bread they serve ahead with the sauces - so fresh and chewy. The plain white sauce was our favorite - lots of garlic flavor. Service was great. Ambiance is nothing special. We will be back!

The best chicken kabab ever. It's so moist and tender. The seasoning is just perfect. My tastebuds are too sensitive with saltiness recently, and this place nails it. There's just enough seasoning of every flavor. It's not a fancy place, just a family run small restaurant, so don't expect too much from ambiance and service.

I was a little bit surprised when we walked in because I'm not really sure what happened to the interior... The pictures on Yelp show two different decor schemes--one with gorgeous traditional tables and chairs, and another with mostly banquettes that was also pretty, but less of a total wow factor. When we got there, the furniture in the room was a lot more scarce with tons of empty space, and the remaining banquettes had mostly ripped or worn out material. The friend who took us there said it looked really different from the last time he came, so it surprised him too. I'm not always huge on Middle Eastern food, so I wasn't expecting a lot, but the food was incredible. We ordered the sharing barbecue plate, which comes with 6 regular skewers, a choice of 1 premium skewer, 2 cold appetizers (we chose hummus and baba ghanoush,) and bread, plus we ordered the lahmbiajin (meat bread.) There were 5 adults and one kid, and this was plenty of food. The hummus was the best I've ever had--super smooth and silky, and I couldn't stop eating it. Skewers were amazing, bread was pillowy with the right amount of chew, and I even didn't mind the baba ghanoush despite hating eggplant in general. The sharing bbq plate also came with some perfectly charred onions and tomatoes. They were so good that when I got home, I started googling ways to cook veggies like that without having access to a grill. All that to say, this isn't somewhere to come for the ambiance, but the food will have me coming back for sure. Really friendly service too!

Highly recommend this hidden gem of a restaurant! FOOD: 10/10. I got a kofta kabab plate and everything on it was excellent. The portions and flatbread were nice and large! SERVICE: The service was quick and friendly. When we were checking out, I ordered an ice cream and the employee offered me and my friend double scoops on the house! PARKING: The location is in a plaza with a good-sized parking lot.

No frills spot for amazing halal/Mediterranean food! Decided to try this place for take out on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant itself is large. They didn't have as many tables as space available. It was also really hot inside but the food smelled incredible. Bread is always made fresh and delicious. I got the mixed plate and the Lahmbiajin Pita. The Lahmbiajin Pita was incredible! Highly recommend adding egg and cheese if you can. Bread was soft and doughy. The mixed plate was good, except the lamb was very salty and not as tender as the chicken. The chicken was the best part! Overall, not a bad place for real halal.

Little gem, wonderful host Zainab. We ordered the Iraqi Kabab amazing and juicy and full of flavor, it came with 2 different rice a grilled tomato and onion and hummas served with Iraqi bread yummm!!! We also ordered the beef shawerma over fried super yummy full of flavor and everything was superb! You must order the cardamom tea with your meal, its an experiance!!!! This place is a MUST try! Keep up the great work you guys and "Ashat edkum"!! read more

This spot is currently providing dine in and carry out services at the moment The food is made to order and always comes out out piping hot and fresh! We got food delivered from this place. I want to preface my review with the following: I have VERY high standards for Middle Eastern food so things that may not bother other folks would bother me. I have had amazing Iraqi food in Dearborn, Michigan and was excited to try an Iraqi place here hoping that it would be similar because the kofta is usually really good. I ordered the lamb and beef kabab and it was okay. I was expecting more of a flame broiled taste from the use of charcoal but I did not get that at all. The taste was not bad, it was just average. I probably wouldn't order that from them again. I also got some falafel and they were a bit hard but tasted okay. Also, my husband did not enjoy the chicken shawarma. He said it left a weird after taste in his mouth. However, I did like some of the other things they offered. The reason I am giving this place a 4 and not a 3 is the Zaatar and cheese flatbread. Aside from the innovative idea of mixing cheese and zaatar together, it was absolutely delicious! I was not disappointed. I will probably order this every time I get something from this spot. The fattoush was decent except for the forkful of garlic I ate (It needed a bit more mixing). The tabbouleh was good (although I was surprised to see pomegranate seeds on top). Overall, I definitely recommend the hummus, zaatar and cheese bread, and tabbouleh. read more

This place is amazing. The nicest people we've ever had serve us. The owner and the server were great helping us understand what to order for our kids and for ourselves. Then the food.... Just as amazing as the people!!! Best Greek salad I've ever had in my life. Not an overstatement. Super fresh ingredients and delicious dressing. Our kids loved the mozzarella pita. And we loved the babaganoush, and all of our wraps (the tikka and the Iraqi). So many more awesome things to try - we will be back soon!!! read more

Sorry, to leave this review for what looks to be a family run business, but I would not come back.. firstly, it was too expensive for what it is, and I almost never say that. The veggie platter was pretty good but sparse amount of hummus or eggplant dip for something like $16. Cheese bread (for like $14) was just ok, not amazing as I was expecting from reviews. Second, dine in experience terrible.. as others have noted, paper plates & plastic utensils. Not even cups of water, bottled water. It just did not feel like a place we would come back to, since for the same amount of money can get a nice dine in experience that it's fun to meet friends over dinner for. Finally, this restaurant seems to be in shady area, unfortunately. read more

We had the breads with sausage and meat Patty. The bread could have been cooked more to have a browner complexion, and the meat was not layered on thick enough to make a textural difference. It was like dog food texture on bread. I ordered the Adana kebab, a spicier version of the traditional kebab, which was average. I was amazed by the portion size of the hummus on my plate. It was an embarrassment in portion and uninspiring in flavor. The rice was not prepared well. It was overcooked and oily. I've had better at Persian places. Also, the restaurant didn't give us water from tap. They only sold bottled water or topo chico if you wanted a glass of water. Our party of 8 asked repeatedly in disbelief thinking there was a misinterpretation. I strongly do not recommend this example of middle eastern cuisine. read more

A neighborhood delight - very good, well-prepared, decent food. We stopped in on a whim and are happy that we did. The two of us split a house salad and a kebab plate - that was a lot of food. The salad was fresh, crunchy where it should be, and light. We are including a photo, below. It was served wit an oil and vinegar dressing - I would have preferred a light cream, Tzatziki, or yogurt dressing. The Kebab we shared was ground lamb with some beef. Delightful tastes and perfectly prepared. There was beautifully prepared rice, home made hummus [worlds better than is available commercially], and home made flat bread. Once again, I hope that they develop and offer a sauce for the kebabs - based on yogurt, mint, garlic, chilli, tzatziki, etc. Despite the lack of sauces, we definitely will return. The prices were reasonable, the service was very good, the restaurant was spotlessly clean, and we left marveling that we had driven by this place for several years before finally stopping in. Very glad that we tried Usta Kababgy. read more

It was my first time here. Ordered a cheese and meet pizza, Mediterranean pizzas are diamond shaped. Traditionally called Fattaya. I loved it. They gave lots of freebies , which were very tasty. Pita bread, salad, hummus and baba ganuj and not to miss the lentil soup whoch was made with chicken broth I tried the iraqi kabab. Wow. It was very juicy and flavorful. It was all lamb. Rice was very flavorful too. Great place for kababs and not to moss the freebies. I will go back and try their other kababs. read more

Had the Iraqi Kabab and mixed-meat kabob plates. All of the meat was juicy and flavorful. Our rice was delicious, too, including raisins and almond slivers. Finally, the creamy hummus was great. I wish it wasn't necessary for me to travel from south Austin to eat this kind of food (not being sold through a trailer window). Two knock on our dining experience... 1. It was about 5-degrees too cold in the dining room. 2. One waitperson for the entire restaurant, including carry-out, ain't gonna cut it. read more

Found this gem of a place on Yelp and had a 4.5 star rating so thought we'd give it a try. It did not disappoint! The kabobs were so incredibly flavorful (especially the Adana Kabob) and every single thing was on point. Their naan was hot and fresh, hummus was really creamy and flavorful and service was very fast as well. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and will definitely come back! Sooooo good!!! Definitely recommend this be the spot you go to for Mediterranean!!! Owner is also very friendly! I had the lentil soup, chicken plate & dessert (forgot what is was called) Lentil soup was suppppper tasty!! Chicken was perfectly season. Riced was cooked well with lots of flavor. First time here. Pros: Lentil soup - two thumbs up Hummus - good, basic. Nothing to write home about, but solid. Chicken Tiki wrap - AWSOME. Excellent flavor. Baklava and Tea - excellent! Mmmmmm Cons: house salad - no dressing/lettuce/tomato/cucumber/onions; boring Meat flatbread (lahmajum) - not to my liking, tases wise. Charged for bottle water The staff were considerate, if a bit slow. The manager was excellent - since I didn't particularly care for the flatbread (and didn't eat it), I was not charged, and the baklava was on the house ! I'll be back...enjoyed my meal. A bit hard to find at the end of a strip mall. read more

Amazingly good rice. Like, they give you two kinds of rice and we haven't been able to decide which one we like better! The chicken kebab is delicious, the falafel is small but flavorful, the sauces are lovely, and the pita is delish. Go get some. read more

Despite Austin lacking authentic Turkish/Arabic food, this place has filled that gap. They serve some of the authentic kebab dishes, that can only be found in Istanbul. Charcoal grilled DELICIOUS kebabs and complimentary soup/hummus will definitely keep you full AND SATISFIED. I would definitely try the mixed plate with a combination of Chicken and Lamb read more

We ordered several dishes for the table and left completely full and happy. The whipped feta is still a must-order and every bit as good as I remembered. The Greek village salad was fresh and delicious, and the hummus was also great. The biggest surprise for me was the falafel. As an Arab, I'm usually pretty skeptical when restaurants outside of Middle Eastern spots serve falafel because it rarely lives up to expectations. Aba absolutely nailed it. It was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and one of my favorite dishes of the meal. We sat outside this time, which made for a really nice atmosphere. The service was also a huge improvement from my first experience. Even though the restaurant was busy, our waitress was incredibly kind, attentive, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the meal. I'm happy to say my opinion has completely changed since my first visit. Giving Aba another chance was definitely worth it, and it has officially earned a spot on my Austin rotation whenever I'm in town.

Now, I don't know about everyone else, but if I'm eating MEDITERRANEAN FOOD, and ask for cheese, I expect a beautiful pile of feta. Parking at this location is a bit of a challenge. They have overflow parking in the back but the spots are really small. We sat at the bar area and worked our way through cocktails, apps, and dessert. We opened a tab and the bar staff takes your order which is convenient, versus how you normally have to order by waiting in line at the bar. The bar staff was extremely busy because they have to make all the cocktails and take the line orders at the bar. They are a master of multitasking. It was $3 martini night on Tuesday, so was excited to sample the four different drink options. lychee martini, Mexican martini, and Lucky Cat cosmo martini. Lychee martini is made with new amsterdam vodka, sake, elderflower, Mexican martini with espolon blanco, olive, yuzu, lime and cosmo with vodka, blood orange, naranja, lime. The lychee was hands down my favorite of the three. We started with the Dip Sampler that included a trifecta of smoked shishito queso, smoked salmon dip and Thai green salsa with the Siete blue corn tortilla chips. We went through the chips quickly and got a second round of wonton chips which I preferred to the Siete chips. Tried the Mango Chamoy frozen Slushee with Siete Chamoy Botana Sauce & Siete Chile Lime Seasoning Rim, passionfruit, Aperol, Sake and Sparkling Wine which was refreshing. All their boozy slushies are $5 during happy hour. Ordered the oak grilled edamame from the happy hour menu and it was a flavor explosion with a dusting of serracha powder, lemon zest and white sesame. For dinner, I ordered my go-to rice bowl with coconut-scented rice, seasonal pickles, thai herbs and steak as the protein. They normally served this with Bavette, but the steak was a bit tough and chewy this time. Finished everything off with cheesecake with five spice crumble, yuzu marmalade for dessert. The vibe at the bar was relaxed and lively without feeling overwhelming, and the collab menu felt creative without trying too hard. The ingredients are very thoughtful for a fully developed flavor profile. Just what I would expect from the culinary minds of Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin. Definitely one of the regulars in my list when craving good cocktails with a casual but elevated food menu.

Okay, just two hours ago. New Years Eve, my husband, my kids, and I we were just sitting waiting for our order. And out of the sudden a homeless man came to the resturant, hopeing to eat some food by any chance. because muslims suppose to have lots of mercy in their hearts, theyre suppose to give him some free food because thats how Muslim religion IS. Guess what guys, they pushed him away so hard to the door infront of everybody and took him out of the resturant to beat the shit out of him up. I got so pissed off, so Angry and my eyes where tearing i swear. Im SHOCKED and i did not want my kids to see that. We took our food and left the resturant. and on our way out, my family and i saw that poor homeless and asked if he was hungry. He said yes and he asked us if we can give him five dollars to get a bandage for his hand because his hand was bleeding so bad i swear. So we gave him 20$ and we gave him pizza.
