Really great food and attentive servers made for a nice experience. The menu is pretty large and they also have "burgers" for "that" dining companion on the menu too. Entrees are well prepared and they have a counter full of decadent desserts that are definitely worth saving room for. They offer nice mocktails and teas that pair well with the meal, giving nonalcoholic options. If you really have a fix for booze, theres a liquor store adjacent to the restaurant with a solid selection of labels...with flasks for sale...I'm just saying... Came here after hearing friends talk about how good the Mediterranean food was here. Came here on a Friday evening and they had a big party that's took up the inside of the restaurant, so they found us a seat outside. Weather was nice, so we didn't mind. We ordered the most popular dishes according to our server which was the hummus, lahmbiajin, and the mixed plate with lamb, chicken tikka, and a beef kabob. All the dishes were great. PRICE: Some items seemed properly priced (the aforementioned kabob plate offered a good amount of food for $75) while others seemed overpriced. We got a cheese bread (like a thin pizza) for the kids and it was $16.99. That seems like too much for what it was. FOOD: Meat was tasty, hummus was creamy. Baklava stood out as some of the best I've had -- chunky nuts, not crushed. DECOR: Beautiful. The embroidered couches were a nice touch. SERVICE: Started off great. Very friendly and patient during ordering. At some point, it felt like they completely forgot about us. No check-in for a long time. The worst part was that no one ever bussed our table. This would have been really helpful because we had two toddlers who are constantly grabbing stuff. So we had to move our piles of plates to one side of the table. Annoying. KIDS: Somewhat kid-friendly. We saw a few other toddlers while we were there so people bring their kids. They have a limited number of high chairs -- I counted three. Two of them were broken -- my son kept undoing his buckle and standing (it was loose and didn't click into place) so I grabbed another chair which didn't even have a buckle. The third chair was being used by another family. They told us they didn't have any others. The broken high chair is actually a common issue in restaurants (kids break stuff) but I think they could use a few more chairs. They have a couple kids menu options (nuggets and burger) but I think the main menu has better options if your kids will eat chicken or falafel or cheese bread or hummus, etc. They also have smoothies -- my daughter devoured her berry smoothie. PARKING: The lot is medium-sized but it's shared with a lot of businesses (including multiple restaurants) so it's actually kind of small given the context. No issue during slower times but probably tougher to snag a spot during peak dining hours. read more

Excellent catering! We hosted 30 guests and ordered from Usta Kababgy. Everyone loved the food. While everything was excellent the stand outs were all of the dips. The hummus, baba ganoush, garlic sauce, eggplant salad (delish) and pita were all excellent. Get one of their family packs - and try it all of the kabobs plus cold appetizers. This place is a gem. The fresh pita bread and three sauces as a free app was such an amazing touch- it's the first time I've been to a Mediterranean restaurant that has a starter. This by far is THE best mediterranean food we have had. Mediterranean cuisine is my favorite. We have went to Austin, Cedar Park, and even Belton and it's been average. The hummus is as fresh as you can get. The warm pita bread is out of this world. It's so light, fresh, and airy. The staff is outstanding with service, smiles, explanations of menu, and making sure your experience is the best. This is truly authentic homemade Mediterranean . I came by here for lunch one day with a coworker and wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised! This is located in the same spot as Greenhouse but they've completely redone the space and it's unrecognizable. The vibes/decor is authentic and the servers were beyond sweet and helpful. I've had usta kababgy a few times when it first opened in Lamar area (the original location before they moved across the street). Food was excellent but I didn't write a review then cuz the service wasnt the best. This round rock location was unassuming from the outside but has some pretty nice ambience inside. It was pretty busy on a Friday night. This time, the service was homely and kind. Got the sharing bbq plate - comes with 7 skewers of your choice + hummus and tabbouleh, and bread. Not sure if bread is unlimited. The food was all fresh, the tabbouleh was the best I have had yet. Usually it's heavy on the lemon and parsley and both were fairly muted here. The meats were all good. My fav was the chicken kabab and the lamb Tikka. Besides those two and the chicken Tikka, the rest of them kinda tastes the same to be honest and I really don't know which is which. Still, it was all still good though. The 3 sauces (garlic, tahini, and some kinda really spicy sauce) really helped in enhancing the flavors. The bread was just fantastic too. I liked the music too but it was a bit too loud in my opinion. We had a pretty good experience overall. read more

Kind people, delicious food and desserts! Don't miss out on this place! I've ordered the house salad which has all the goods chopped into bite sized pieces so each forkful has a bit of everything. There's plenty enough for two but could easily feed 3 ppl. The chicken kebab plate is quite large so you won't go home hungry and might even have leftovers! The beef Tagine (a beautifully seasoned roast with caramelized onions, herbs and fruits) is perfect for two or you'll be sure to have lunch the next day. It also comes with rice or salad. I had a very disappointing experience at UTSA Kabab. The lettuce served with our food was old, wilted, and tasted stale. The fish also had a bad smell, which made me concerned about its freshness and quality. I brought this issue to the waiter, but instead of addressing the concern, he kept insisting that everything was fresh. There was no manager available for me to speak with, which made the situation even more frustrating. I hope the restaurant takes food quality and customer concerns more seriously read more

Stopped in to Usta Kababgy on Old Settlers yesterday for lunch. What a very pleasant surprise. The service was very good, and the food will definitely bring us back again. I had a wrap, a Kofta Kabab, or ground lamb, wrap, that was very good, well stuffed with meat and veggies that, again, was very good. My wife had a Falafel wrap, described as excellent. All food is cooked fresh before each order and tastes delicious. The service was great here. 3 different workers came and checked on the quality of food and made sure we didn't need anything. At 6:45p on a Sunday, there was no wait and only other family eating inside. This was my first time eating here, but I had heard raving reviews from my parents who are seasoned vets at this place. Their recommendation did not disappoint and I am currently planning my return before leaving town in a week. Okay. I don't know what I was expecting but this wasn't it. Usta Kababgy is located in a little strip mall that used to have a lot of other stuff in it and is now filled with lots of top notch international cuisines. There is lots of parking and we were able to get a spot directly outside the front door. There is a patio area right outside, which will be especially nice once the weather is warm again. We walked inside and were taken aback by the decor. It was VERY sumptuous. Pierced work chandeliers, inlaid tables, embroidered and embellished pillows and cushions, just a gorgeous place. A hostess walked us over to our table with menus and gave us a chance to settle in. It was very quiet, despite being the first day of Ramadan. Our server came over with little cups of lentil soup and said they'd been making it all day long. She said it was extremely busy earlier in the day and they were just starting to wind down. We placed our order and waited. The lentil soup was delicious. It was very smooth and had an almost roasted flavor. It tasted like it had been slow cooked in a crock. I've never had a lentil soup like that before. Then came the flatbread. Perfectly crispy bottom while still being chewy and flexible enough to pick up food. It came out with some sauces: a creamy garlic, a jalapeño, and a tahini. The garlic was my favorite. We ordered a small pot of Moroccan tea, which came out in a silver service, already honey-sweetened with a delicate mint finish. This was a perfect accompaniment to our meal. The kofta tagine was served in crockery which stayed hot throughout our meal. The chicken and tenderloin kebab were both expertly seasoned and juicy, which doesn't often happen with grilled meats. The chicken was probably my favorite part of the meal. The rice it was all served with was warm, fluffy, and fresh. It tasted lightly of cinnamon and cardamom, and almost tasted like it had been cooked in broth rather than water. The hummus is extremely smooth. If you're a fan of chunky hummus, this isn't for you. You will not find a hint of graininess. There are no chunks of chickpea. It is as smooth as pudding or yogurt and I've never had hummus like it anywhere else. It was truly a delight. We ordered dessert to go and left. The absolute star of the show, though, was our server Ruwaida. She anticipated our needs so expertly that she often showed up with things before we even realized we would need it. We never ran out of sauces. I never noticed that my glass needed refilling. She was exceptional, thoughtful, and efficient. I don't get out to Round Rock very often, but it looks like I'll have to make it out more regularly because this place is fantastic. read more

Like not just good but freaking great. They bring out pita and three sauces to the table. The spicy jalapeno and garlic sauce were sooo craveable. We got the zaatar and cheese flatbread along with the family style sharing meal. The meal came with 14 kebabs of a variety of meats. It was so much food! We definitely could've gotten away with one of the smaller sharing plates. The meat was full of flavor and I enjoyed each variety. Rice and pita came with the meal and we had the opportunity to add four sides, so we chose: Greek salad, hummus, tabouleh, and falafel. The falafel was the best I have ever had! I initially posted this review for the wrong location. THis is for the ROUND ROCK location only, I haven't been to the Lamar location. This place came highly recommended by the son of an oriental rug shop owner on Anderson Ln in Austin, who knew I like all types of mediteranean food. It happens to be relatively close to our new house in RR, and is located in an unassuming shopping center off Old Settlers. I figured it was going to be a bland interior, with good food. I was wrong! The interior is anything but bland. It's very cutely decorated in the style of Morocco. The tables and chairs are super cute, the light fixtures are wonderful and the whole place transports you in a far away land. Now, I know nothing about Iraqi cuisine, and I suspect this restaurant serves food that is not specifically from Iraq, but honestly, I don't care that much, everything we had was delicious. The tea service was also very nice. So, go there for the food, and be delighted with the decor! Well done, surprisingly nice for a suburban neighborhood! read more

Just like the one in north Austin, but in a nicer space. Family run and the staff is always so nice and patient in explaining the menu and describing menu items. My go-to is the Mix Plate that has the lamb tikka skewer and I usually get the spicy kabab (lamb/beef) as the second. This comes with their hummus, rice, salad, and piping hot pita bread that I can't get enough of. For apps, the domas and falafels are delightful and perfectly seasoned. I also like the Lahmbiajin (this thincrust pizza like thing with ground beef on top) and the lentil soup goes well with this. Whenever I'm craving kababs, this is one of my top choices to go. Location wise just depends on where I am, but both this location and the north Austin one are both solid. read more

We walked in and waited at the "wait to be seated" sign. We were greeted and seated a couple minutes later. We're handed menus and was given bread. We waited a bit for our orders to be taken. I ordered a berry smoothie and had my first sip and it was watered down. I ordered the lamb tikka and a mixed of beef and lamb wrap. The lamb tikka came out fast, while it took awhile for the wrap to come out. The lamb tikka is worth the money for what it came with. The rice, protein, hummus and the salad. The wrap was a bit on the smaller side. I would come back just for their platter. I just hope the service does get better. read more

Amazing food and service, honestly the best Mediterranean cuisine I've ever had! Traveled to Round Rock from Houston and found this place on Yelp. Upon entering we were warmly greeted and sat immediately. We were given fresh bread and Jalapeno, Garlic, and Tahini sauces for dipping. We ordered the Zataar and feta cheese bread, Lamb Tikka, and Chicken Tikka with rice and hummus. The flavors were incredible and everyone left stuffed. The kids even enjoyed their hamburger and chicken nuggets (which were actually seasoned and flavorful).
