Decent place but they take extremely long for everything waited 2 hrs before even going back to room and then another hr in back

I had the first screening back in September 2024, paid out of pocket and was given a list of work to be done was told they were going to call me for an appointment,never heard from them, I called in January got another screening paid out of pocket, then xrays,paid, teeth cleaned paid out of pocket, even thought my insurance company would pay for all thus they wouldn't help me file a claim, i have to do it myself and the invoice that i had to look up online didn't have the information the insurance needs, forget trying to get through their billing department. , they said they were contacting me for an appointment but never did, i had to call myself. Its June 2025 and i yet to have any work done, root canal, tooth extraction etc and haven't been able to file with my insurance hundreds of dollars in costs . My appointment went smoothly . Everybody is so nice . Parking garage is huge . If you have trouble walking I recommend you bring your walker because you have too walk a good distance . Inside is very clean too. Make sure too take your parking ticket inside because there's a machine that you have too use too pay your parking ticket . read more

Great quality care. Residents I've had so far were amazing and super sweet. Attendings were great as well. Had urgent care visit, then 2 visits in endodontics. Now going back for general visit for clean, checkup, and crown. Dr Yrene in general and Dr. Kurcz endo are wonderful! I'm in between insurances right now so cash payment has a slight discount. Was reasonable at ut and 1/3 the cost my regular dentist wanted. I'm changing to UT because my regular dentist is out of network. Trying to find someone wonderful that is in network is so hard. I'm big on customer service, and the office also has the be great. I lived my old doctor, but it was so expensive. read more

Six months since my initial exam & consultation and no appointment yet! I had given them my insurance info (one their website listed was accepted) at the exam and was told they would call me to set my next appointment. After two months of not hearing from them, I called and requested to set the appointment. Again they said they would call me, instead they sent me an overdue account letter falsely indicating I had not paid previous account statements. Upon contacting the billing office, confirmed they had not previously sent me a statement nor had they submitted a claim to my insurance. I promptly sent them payment in full amount knowing I could not file the claim myself since they did not give me any documentation of the exam visit. I just wish I had realized that "we'll call you to set your next appointment" probably meant they had decided not to extend their dental services to me. read more

I recently went to get my wisdom teeth extracted, and the procedure went so smoothly and quickly. Obviously painful after the fact. Pricella baker from the oral surgery department was remarkable. She constantly kept me up to date as to what she was doing and what was next, and kept me comfortable. Mr. Digioia as well. The ladies at the front desk were also so kind and soft spoken. read more

Seniors, please avoid this place! I came there about 18 months ago. Returned for another reason about 8 months later. I found out then that I had a $370 credit in my account. They wouldn't refund this to me. I had to go through 3 levels of their bureaucracy to finally get it. I said, what if had decided to never return here again?...then They keep my #370! Meanwhile they insist that I pay in advance every time I go there. Well, you see the problem: if you are forced to pay in advance and they over charge you and there's really no way to get a refund of the money they owe you....feels like larceny. A few weeks ago I returned for a broken molar. The charges added up finally to a little over $2,000. My last visit I came to the admit person (who was rude and incompetent) and she said I owed just over $2,000. That's the amount we agreed on weeks before. I got the work done and, as I checked out, she told me I owed $3075.! I had to get help from my dentist and the manager to keep from getting robbed here. I asked to be given a receipt that showed this was my final payment, and she wouldn't do it. That night I received and e-mail saying I still owed $1,225!! I called my dentist and he cleared it up for me once again. I worry about all the other patients there. Most are over 75 years old. What if they just accept the erroneous charges they're presented with? How unfair for people on a fixed income! read more

I started bringing my mother to UT dental school about 6 months ago as she doesn't have any dental insurance and had a lot of dental problems. We were told that the dental school charges up to 1/3 less than a private dentist. Dental work is done by dental residents who are already dentists but are getting additional training in different specialties. The first visit is xrays and an exam and cost $35. My mothers private dentist charged for $75 for xrays only the last time she went a while back. So we could see a significant discount right at the start. She was then assigned to a wonderful dentist Dr. Alston. She was very patient, explained everything. They allowed me to go in the dental suite to be with her during her visits. Payment for the work is due that day. There are no payment plans, but before work is done you are given a complete estimate of charges. So the good things (Pros:- Excellent dental care , caring staff, significantly reduced charges than a private dentist . You will get reminder via text of your appointment . Easy parking in the attached parking lot . Some dental plans are acceptable.. --Cons- work is done over several visits depending on what type of work you need ( basically the worse your teeth the more time/visits you need) so this may mean several months, but you can request visits to be done more frequently to get work finished if there are no contraindications ( for example my mother had surgery so she had to have time to heal before her next visit). Since this is a training dental school the dental residents need to clear treatment plan with their faculty( teachers overseeing work). This just takes a few minutes , no big deal. I am very impressed with the school and the great work they do. read more

This is a great place when you want 1st class service for a better price. I got a root canal done here and I had no pain at all. I heard horror stories from other places and I had bad experiences at other places but here I only had top people working on me. After all, this is one of the top schools for that. If you have pain, you can go and get an emergency appointment but you have to come back and get a new patient assessment to get everything else fixed. The assessment was quite long but it really asked for everything and I had a couple of questions that got answered as needed. They also offer cleanings and this is what I will have done next, I will update my review if there is a need for it. But this is a great place and we will see how it will end for me. read more

Horrible place!! I had a major facial reconstruction here in the summer of 2019. Dr. Perez and Dr. Brown chopped the bones of my face up and couldn't put them back together. I currently have 3 broken titanium brackets in my face due to their poor care. No one would take responsibility and fix the issue. I have been left deformed and have breathing trouble now. If you try to complain it takes weeks for a response. Dr. Loomer and Dr. Guest do not have control of their department and allow students and staff to mislead patients. I came here to try and save money. Either go toothless or save up!!!! My dental student Ryan McGovern was very nice and polite, in fact everyone was. The students need more supervision!!!! I understand you have to start somewhere but holly shit!!!!! They sent me to a periodontist on another floor to extract 5 teeth and never again!!! The assistant didn't lubricant my lips and constantly rolled my lips over my teeth pinching the shit out of me!!!! Dentist was moving stuff around in my mouth with the sharp tools MILLIMETERS FROM MY FACE!!! They would not see me on one occasion cause I was $10 dollars short. I paid $500 dollars on my next visit and had a credit of $150. Next visit they said not only was my credit of $150 gone, but someone f-cked up and I actually owed $250!!!! When I told them the Parodontist left a sharp piece of bone on an extraction site poking up through my gum causing me to have to go to the ER and get antibiotics and heavy pain medicine, then go to a dentist and have the gum cut open and the shard of bone removed for $1,500 in total between the ER visit and outside Parodontist, and I should actually sue them for the cost they quickly changed their tune. I actually called the student Parodontist and told him about the sharp bone fragment before this Er visit ever happened and he said it would take care of itself... These idiots need to be practicing on fukin cadavers or horses!!!! If you are into pain and getting 5 shots in the roof of your fukin mouth with no topical anesthetic? Go here. You lubricate the lips and when you give injections in the mouth or gums you always barely insert the needle and squeeze off a little medicine wait a few seconds and stick the needle a little further in and put more medicine. These idiots just jam the needle all the way in!!!! This was the most painful dental experience I've ever had in my entire life!!!! I called Ryan the next day and told him I was DONE!!! read more

I'm sorry to read about others having a negative experience. However, my experience was positive. Because these are students, just be prepared for longer visits than you would have at a private office. I actually did not mind this at all because that means they take their time discussing with you as well as consulting with their attending. My initial visit consisted of a consultation and then being provided with a treatment plan. I went back for my cleaning and several follow up visits for a new filling and I also had a night guard made. Was also given a referral to periodontics who are in the same building for some cosmetic work on my gums. I would definitely recommend scheduling a consultation. Just go in with the expectation of it being a bit longer process than a private dental office which is not necessarily a bad thing. read more

Great experience so far with the advanced general dentistry area. I feel lucky that I got Dr. Cazes. I like him more than the dentists at other practices in SA. Their prices are cheaper than a regular dentist in the area. The dentist himself has been very thorough while also being gentle. He asked another dentist for advise on my root canal and the other dentist was so aggressive and rough that I it gave me anxiety, on top of what I already had just from being in the dentist chair. I feel sorry for anybody being attended to by that guy. I've been there 4 times already with more appointments still to come. The assistant today was Vanessa and she's been my favorite assistant by far. She was so nice and attentive to my both myself and the dentist. She really made me fell better during the procedure. It initially took me a couple weeks to get an appointment but that was partly from me thinking I needed a referral to be seen, which you don't need. I've been seen right away at all but one appointment and with that one, I only waited maybe 15 minutes. The ladies working the front desk are also nice. You do have to pay for parking but it's like $1/hour and the garage is relatively empty so you're not parking far. I definitely recommend giving them a try. read more

Got a cyst removed from inside my jaw a few years ago by Dr. Ellis in the Oral & Maxillofacial Dept. Such an awesome doctor and one who assured me of everything that was going to happen on surgery day. He was able to remove the cyst, a molar, and all 4 wisdom teeth in that one surgery! Now I'm dealing with the Orthodontics Dept. and am very happy with the help I'm receiving there for my Invisalign! read more

I actually had a really good experience here today. I am terrified of dentists, and I abhor going to see a dentist. So much so, that that is the reason I'm in the state I'm in today. I'm writing about the dentistry urgent care clinic here. I called the day before, told them that I'd literally had a tooth fall out of my head (I'm 31), and they called me in the next day. Once they discovered I had RA/Fibro, they sent me off for an IV sedation appointment to get a bunch of teeth pulled and some infection taken care of. I could not be more pleased with the courtesy and respect I was treated with, by the students, and how normal and relaxed they made me feel. Which takes work, considering I have a phobia of dentists in general. I go Thursday to get my teeth extracted, etc. Will have to update my review on the surgery clinic when I am back to my normal self. read more

Very pleased with the service they provide despite them being students. Initially I was scared and now regrets why I should have not went there first and spend less. They take their time to examine your teeth and discuss with you all the options without being rushed and pushy on the treatment plans. Unlike private practices you pay more and get like between 2 minutes to 5 minutes check up. Even after the procedure they are still reachable if any issue arise. Definitely recommend it to give it a try specially for those who does not have Dental insurance like me. read more

Just after warm bodies for the dentistry school. Wanted to schedule an apt. for exam and filing of two cavities. Instead, I am scheduled for a "screening" which took 3 hours. It included an X-ray and consultation with a dental instructor. Cost- $39 Called to schedule a dental appointment for my two cavities and told I will again need a "screening" before any work can be done. This time the cost is $69. Again. Same amount of time. 3 hours. For the dental students to look at my teeth. No ACTUAL WORK done on my teeth, another consultation. No Thanks. I am living on social security and just wanted some inexpensive dental care for 2 cavities. Would give zero stars if possible. read more

Afterwards her instructor came to approve the treatment and did his own exam to ensure we were on the right track. I heard multiple good reviews so I decided to give this place a try. This was by far the most horrible dental experience of my life. First, I noticed how progressively the student dentist got less & less gentle with me. I think she was in a hurry and it showed. To be honest, that scared me a bit. I let that slide, because they are students after all. Next, I was told upon starting the program that if the patient were absent twice, they would be kicked from the program. It alarmed me that my student dentists set me up for an appointment that I never agreed to make. So, I basically had a strike, as a result. This made me feel that the student dentist maybe trying to get me kicked from the program. Since I had text messages of the incident, I contacted the office and asked to talk to someone who could help me. The secretary refused to let me talk to anyone. I asked if I could change student dentists given the situation, but was refused. To top it all off, the last 2 visits that I was there, the student dentist mentioned that I had an infection, but she never gave me antibiotics/a prescription to solve that issue. After they took their tooth sensitivity tests on my teeth, my infection started to be painful. I honestly wouldn't wish my experience with UT Student Dentistry on my worst enemy. I thought it was a great program when I heard about it, but I came to find out that it depends on who your student dentist is and who is running the program, etc. If people who don't care about caring for people (dental care) are running such programs, it's no wonder I received the lack of customer service & care from their staff. Some people lack a passion for caring for people/the passion for their trade, but want a good paying job so they pick their title. Just keep that in mind before you make the decision to try it. You may have a better experience, but my experience was quite hellish. read more

Very poor customer service and faculty dentist with bad bedside manners. Will never go back there again. I had an afternoon appt and arrived 5 minutes later bc of traffic. The front desk person could not figure out what to direct me in the building at first. I signed in and was asked to wait. A few minutes later Dr Barayan approached me and said it was already late and since I was a new patient I need to fill out paperwork and since I was a few minutes late I should re-schedule, despite me having pain bad enough to bother me all day and I asked to leave work early. I responded saying I realized I was late, but less than 15 minutes and it wasn't completely my fault that I signed in late since the people that work there didn't know where to direct me. Further, the front desk didn't ask me to start paperwork asap. I already asked him to try to understand that I am a resident and I hardly get any sick days off and I was already allowed to leave early today and I came here TODAY for persistent pain. Lastly, as a physician myself, who also takes care of patients, I understand what it is like to be the end of the day and not want to stay late, however, we are required as providers to treat all patients fairly and give standard of care and not rush or turn away patients, especially if patients are suffering. They ended up seeing me, but clearly with a bad attitude, no empathy, kept telling me I was a sensitive patient and that's why I was feeling pain, and only got a temporary filling. I feel like that was done bc it took less time. Now I have to go back and get a permanent one another time. Clearly the dentist cared more about leaving early instead of giving me the best care he could. That's not good that a faculty physician like him is being a bad example for students. read more
