They were fabulous to work with. Easy to book with, great communication, lovely to work with, honest, fast, and seem to have done a great job (from what I can tell, not like I'm a plumber :)). The only drawback is that the cost was at least 2-3x what I would have expected, especially for a non-emergency, non-weekend service, so just be aware of that going in!

We do not recommend Burtons plumbing at all, they charged us $650 for an issue that he diagnosed…read moreincorrectly, and when the issue persisted he then recommend that we just replace the water heater and he would just bill us for his time to install it if we wanted to pick on up ourselves. The $650 was for 2 parts, an element and a thermostat that he said were testing bad (which cost a max of $50) so he charged $600 for 2 house of work, and the mass majority of that was him draining the tank. After he replaced those two parts he said that should fix the issue. Only for the same problem to be occurring two days later proving that the element and the thermostat clearly weren't the problem. We asked if there would be a refund or any kind of discount for the install of a new water heater since we already paid him $650 for the issue not to be fixed, and this was the response "I do want to clarify that when Burton was out, the components he replaced were not functioning properly at that time. Based on the symptoms the system was showing, those repairs were necessary and appropriate. Electric water heaters can be a bit deceptive. They don't always fail all at once. Often, once one issue is repaired and the system begins running normally again, it can expose additional problems within the unit, especially when there is sediment buildup or internal wear, which this system is showing signs of. What appears to be happening now is that after restoring the upper heating element, the system is now relying on the lower portion of the tank, and that's where the next issue is showing up. It's likely the lower heating element has now failed. At the time of the initial repair, it was reading correctly and everything checked out before Burton left." The system was never running normally again after he replaced the parts, there was hot water for a max of 5-7 minutes and then the water was gone which was the same issue it was having before, therefore the top heating element and thermostat weren't the issue, so we paid him for nothing. It is partially my fault for paying him before confirming the issue was fixed, so I am hoping someone reads this before they scam you out of $650 too. We ended up installing a new water heater by ourselves cause it definitely isn't rocket science and you can look it up on YouTube to save yourself a heck of a lot of money.

I trusted them and given that price, I assumed it was a major job. They gave me a lump sum bid, not itemized with labor and materials separately, and that should have tipped me off. Turns out the faucet itself was a minor cost and installation took under 20 minutes. No idea why this was a $472.00 job. Their labor charge must be $20/minute! When I inquired re. the cost, I received no response. My advice: definitely get two or more bids on any job before hiring this company and be cautious about lump sum bids.

He said the add-a-wire was broken and we'd need to get a new one when actually, all he needed to do was set a refrigerant setting on the control board (which another installer knew to set to get it working well). He also stopped responding to our texts to have him bring the 2 parts and finish the job for two weeks as we were suffering with heat and no AC. He justified this ghosting by being out town. So we had to hire someone else. We wanted to be reimbursed $300 for having to hire someone else to diagnose and set this setting. He refused. To not take care of the settings to make the unit operable is deceptive when the agreement was that he would "install the furnace". From some research online, an "installation is generally understood to not just encompass the physical placement and connection of the unit but also the necessary configuration, adjustments, testing, and setup steps to ensure the system is fully operable and safe to use". It was also deceptive to say he would handle extra material and not replace a bit of venting. But I generously let the vent concern go. When I asked him to refund us for having to hire someone else to set this setting, he said, regarding dealing with settings: "I don't do that." I responded that if I'm paying someone $500 an hour, I expect professional know-how and a complete install. He called us ridiculous for essentially wanting an actual working furnace and not having to pay someone else extra to finish it. Despite me explaining that the setting was the issue, and that the next technician restored the power to the thermostat simply by setting that, he insisted the furnace wasn't working because we didn't upgrade the wire to the thermostat. Tristan said regarding the wiring, "this is the proper way to install WITHOUT changing any settings on the damn furnace" But research online says that the furnace will not operate properly without correctly setting this. In fact, it was an obvious issue that the blower was always on with no thermostat wire connected, which the second installer identified and said should not be happening given no signal from the thermostat telling it to turn on. Further indicative of his unprofessionalism, at one point he said, "Thanks for trying to take food out of my family's mouth for no reason." I responded, "thanks for trying to take food out of my families mouth by not being professional and costing us more money" (by having to hire someone else to finish the installation). He's probably feeding his family just fine with how much he's being paid per hour, but he very would could have trouble with that if he continues down the reputation-destroying path he's currently on. Tristan is likely prone to charge a good amount and do a half-ass job and then justify his incompetence. Beware.

He gave us a very competitive quote and was able to start work quickly and work around our schedules. He worked extremely hard to minimize damage to our plaster walls. David even installed some can lights in our bedroom free of charge. We really appreciated that he swept up every day and kept our place clean. During the project he noticed a problem in the wiring that a previous contractor did and repaired the problem at a very fair cost. David came back twice at no expense to make sure we were satisfied and every part of the house was modernized. He was able to very affordably get our old house set up with modern wiring.
