I utilized UTOG at the recommendation of a friend. I took my 93 year old mother to a Broadway play, from her assisted living facility in White Plains. All was fine on the way in, but the driver never showed on our return trip. I tried 3x to explain the situation with the UTOG office and they someone (Frank) never even returned my call. I was stuck in NYC after the show and took an expensive Uber back to White Plains. My mother is immobile and it was a challenging situation for ALL. I would not recommend them as they showed no interest in responding to my legitimate complaint. read more

I called for a ride from Manhattan to a New Jersey suburb and was quoted a price of $77. We had two stops in my town so they told me there would be an additional charge. The final price was north of $140. It included $15 for making a second stop, tolls, gas and a variety of other mystery charges. Total joke.Stick with uber or lyft. Read this story and then decide if this is a company you want to support. Most of the good reviews here are from people that work or worked for the company. All of the bad ones are obviously real. I was hired here many years ago and needed a job badly at that time. After they hired me they started me at a salary that was less than the agreed upon amount. The manager at that time Matt told me he would understand if I left and that the owner was really cheap and that he was sorry. I couldn't leave though as I desperately needed the job. I worked here for over 5 years with no raise, working for a salary less than I negotiated. When NYC raised the minimum wage to 15 dollars which was the amount I was receiving per hour at the time- most of the operators in the dispatch room were making 12 an hour and were all given a raise to 15...I was the head dispatcher by that time and obviously the relationship wasn't great due to their lying to me and never giving me a raise for years. The owner knew he couldn't keep me at the same wage that was the new minimum wage for NYC so instead of doing the right thing he chose to fire me. I know I probably should have left long before then but I didn't for all of the reasons so many of us dont leave our jobs that don't deserve us. On a side note, the owner Mike Psarros was sued years before I worked for UTOG for sexually harassing female employees. He was married and one of the female employees he harassed was also married and their husband was a driver for the company.This part of the story is all documented you could google it. when I worked there the own also headed the group that owned The Vista Hotel which is the hotel across the street from UTog. Also, since I know youre reading this. I want to thank his son Elias Psarros for firing me. I always thought you were an okay guy. A way better person than your father ever was. read more

Consistently terrible, my company has a corporate account and we have little other choices so I have had to deal with UTOG over the years. I've had mysteriously canceled reservations, cars in accidents, and distracted drivers always paying more attention to their phone or tablet than the road. Can't they enunciate their names clearly? Really, give them a call, press 1 as if you'll make a new reservation, and be amazed at how they garble their own name! I just note down "unintelligible" in my own notes. I had to make a reservation for some VIP and her husband to her home address which they have on file and I provided them with her VIP number but they wouldn't allow me to make the reservation because i didn't have her address! Isn't one point of having information to facilitate making reservations? I wasn't asking the reservationist for the information, just "the 86th Street address." The VIP has since moved on to Vital. I find their car service is good and they are speedy and accurate and when things go smoothly it is great, but if you question anything they get defensive and snippy. read more

I called to reserve a car for a trip to the airport the following day. "Will you be putting this on a personal credit card?" Sure. I gave my debit card information to the representative, assuming I'd be charged at the time service was rendered. I wasn't charged; instead, they placed a $150 hold on my checking account. When I ended up having to cancel the reservation halfway through our call, I was passed through to three different people, ultimately to be told they couldn't reverse the $150 hold, and that it would take "about a week" to release. Um........no, UTOG, you don't get to withhold 150 of my hard-earned dollars for any amount of time. Thankfully, my bank was able to release the hold. But what a headache. (As an aside, they quoted me $45 for a trip from SoHo to LGA. A Yellow Cab would only be $30-$40, max.) I won't be calling UTOG again. read more

I had a Corporate account with Utog. I've never experienced such poor service and rude people before in my life. I pay more now to use a company that is reliable, timely, and treats customers with respect. Utog is by far the worst black car service I've ever dealt with. I used them for about a year and they've forgotten by pick ups, had me wait for 45 minutes on a car/driver, refused to turn the AC on in 95+ degree weather, and caused me to miss a flight. Booked 2 cars for a work event. One called me 5 minutes before I was supposed to be picked up and told me they were going to be 25 minutes late. At this rate I would have been very late. This car service was arranged for me for an interview. Unfortunately, not my best experience. Neither the people on the phone nor the driver were very customer oriented. I kept getting transferred before they finally sent the car to pick me up from the airport. I was told 5 min. 20 min later the car arrived. On the one plus side, as a private car service, the car maintained its clean professional image. When I work late, I take a car service home, and these guys are #4 on my speed-dial after...numbers that shall remain unnamed. They're usually speedy and available with a car to arrive within ten minutes of my calling (except for the typical expected weather delays and what not). The cars are clean and oftentimes a very recent make (within a few years, I'd say), and the drivers are friendly (for the most part -- yes, I'm looking at you, Car #417 with the 1995 Lincoln Town Car and bad B.O.!). While it may be a tad bit pricier than other car services (and definitely more expensive -- but surprisingly not outrageously so -- than a taxi), at least they're reliable. (Example: It's $18 to get from Midtown East to the West Village for a ride that would cost ~$11 by cab.) When I went to Belize last month, I booked a car to whisk me away to my ungodly, no-human-being-should-possibly-have-to-wake-up-at-this-time 6AM flight, and the driver was on time and chipper at 4AM on a Saturday morning. No, he was not high on speed. I don't think. Oh, and what you see above? That is the litany of rapid-fire pre-prepared (does that word even make sense??) answers that I give when Elizabeth (who seems to work the 10PM - 2AM or so shift) picks up the phone. With my somewhat-less-than-mobile parents staying with me in Astoria, I needed to find a way to get them from my apartment to a venue downtown with as little drama as possible. Oh and I couldn't be with them at all while this was going on. Stairs and moving trains and subway maps and NYC sidewalks were a no-go and truly a nightmare to think about. I'm an executive assistant for a super big-wig so I had a good list of car services to go off of. The one I frequently use for my personal rides would NEVER be good enough for my boss, but the ones my boss uses would be far too fancy for my parents. UTOG is on the lower end of "boss fancy" and their price is right. Plus, I can give them credit card info in advance and had everything taken care of so my parents never had to deal with tipping, a driver not knowing where to go, etc. It was a huge relief and they were really impressed! As my adorable mom said "there was bottled water in the back for us!". Cute, right? She said it was clean, smelled nice, the driver was present, but not too nosy, etc. It was far more money than I'd ever pay for myself, but $75 was completely worth it. The only thing I was disappointed about was that I asked them to take the (free) 59th Street/Queensboro bridge since I'm right by it as opposed to a tunnel and they went and used the tunnel anyway. read more

WORST CAR SERVICE EVER! I HATE THESE PEOPLE. the only reason I use this service is because my company has an account with them. I usually end up not taking them however, since they always call right before I'm due to be picked up to tell me they're running late, so I have to find another service last minute to go to the airport. Once I called to check on a reservation only to be informed it would be a 2 hour delay. Fast forward five hours and I still don't have a car. No one ever called to tell me about these delays. I have to use because they are my work car service but they are horrible. Use them once a week at least to/from the airport. It's not the drivers usually it's the phone staff. My company contracts with UTOG so employees take it whenever we travel. Usually they are late by about 10-15 mins. However, I waited almost 40 mins despite having a confirmed reservation. I called and they said they'll get back to me with a car number. Surprise surprise they never did. I had to call back after waiting for 30 mins only to for them to tell me the car was already there. It most definitely was not there as 5 mins later I received a call from the driver saying he's still on his way. The driver then told me they never sent for him until 10 mins before he picked me up. In that time I could have gotten into a cab and been halfway home already. It sucks for the drivers bc they're usually very hardworking people and it's the people who answer calls who are the worst. Also there's consistently an extremely unpleasant man who works there and every time I get him on the phone he sounds extremely annoyed and angry. My colleagues have all said the same. My company has a corporate account with this company and I used this service recently on a business trip. Ordered the car upon arrival at JFK and they were waiting for me by the time Id picked up my bag. Driver was courteous. So far so good. There was some Confusion over the payment. The driver contacted dispatch to confirm whether I'd already been charged. The dispatcher was blatantly disrespectful and rude to the driver in his tone of voice - curt, aggressive and dismissive. The driver told me this dispatcher's behaviour was a known issue to drivers and that he had received this same feedback before. I called to provide the feedback and the woman I spoke with was apologetic. I booked my return trip with them and was told I'd receive a call fifteen minutes before pick up time. At five minutes before pick up time they hadn't called, so I called to confirm they were on the way - the agent I spoke with had the same abrupt curt tone (sounded like the same voice) and simply said - "I'm still trying to get a car to assign to you" then the line went dead. I wondered if he'd hung up on me. I had the hotel order me a car and started to the airport. When I called back to let them know, this same agent said - I have a car now he's on his way, but is running ten minutes late. Not a good sign when your executive airport transportation service is unable to manage time and schedules. I'll be recommending we find another service to recommend for our employee travel. read more

They were supposed to pick us up at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. The car was late so I called them, got put on hold, then called them back. Their driver was out on the street somewhere and was going to call me back. When he did, he was not understandable. Bottom line we cancelled the ride and took another car to our hotel. My company has a UTOG account and I've never really had a problem. Maybe once out of 20 trips it took a while to get a car because of a busy pick up time. Office staff have always been efficient and the drivers are fine. Cars range from your typical Toyota Camry to Cadillac sedans. I don't know what the experience would be like without a company account / voucher; UTOG appears to be mainly focused on corporate services. read more

This is their job and it makes me feel like I am being a terrible person and interrupting something when I call. So far, so good. When other services say they have a 30 minute wait, UTOG has given me 10-15, and arrived early. I did get a 45-minute wait time on Friday...but during peak hours and during various holiday parties. The driver arrived within 40 minutes. Driving skills were a little choppy. And the phone reps can be hit or miss. But it's a mid-level car service...and they get the job done. read more

Called UTOG four hours before our train was due at Penn Station. We specifically stated 31st @ 8th (to avoid the taxi line for everyone's sake) Dispatch called us just as we were getting off the train to inform us the car was upstairs. When we got upstairs there was no car. We look down 31st and on 8th but there was no car. We waited 5 minutes and then called dispatch. My wife repeated her name, the location a number of times, on hold, told the car was there.... it was not, on hold, again with her name, the location, etc. No car. Finally after another 10 minutes the car pulls up on the wrong side of the street and we have to lug out baggage to him. After we start driving, erratic like most taxi's but hey this is NYC, he then turns on the radio at which I request he turn off. He then pulls out a bag of chips, while driving, and again I ask him to not eat while driving. No response. I ask again, still eating (with no hands on the steering wheel) at this point I say loudly; "Do not eat while you drive and keep your hands on the wheel please. Thank you." This is the moment the man FLIPS OUT! He starts yelling at me to not tell him what to do. I again explain that driving while eating is dangerous and he yells more. This continues until I turn on my cell phone video camera (which will be posted in it's entirety soon) He still drives badly, too fast, too close to other cars (with less than 2 seconds behind the other cars) He switches lanes without looking and again has one or no hands on the steering wheel. He then reaches for his cell phone and again I tell him that it is dangerous and illegal to talk on the phone while driving. he again flips out and starts yelling at us. Long story short... (too late I know) The cost of a two stop ride with this unacceptable driver cost $130 (he actually waited after we got out for a trip. NO!) is too expensive, it would have been much cheaper with a standard taxi and less dangerous. We live in Manhattan and take NYC taxis regularly and have never had this bad of an experience. We are consulting an attorney to file suit against the driver and the company. I cannot state clearly enough, a company that employs someone with this attitude and lack of skills is to be avoided at all costs. read more

Our company cancelled their account once due to an incident and the owner managed to negotiated a second chance. So far, they are still horrible and we are about to cancel their account again! Not EVERYTIME is a bad experience, just about every other time! You call to complain and they man up the next time, then go back to their shitty ways the subsequent time. I rather pay more for better service and not have to deal with all the frustration and aggravation you will get by using them. Absolute worst! I am not one bit surprised at all of the one star reviews. I opened a corporate account with them for my company in Manhattan. We used them December 13th, the day of our Christmas party. I needed a car to pick me up to take me to a ferry in the afternoon. They made the reservation, and then 20 minutes before said they actually were not going to make it. What??? So I missed my ferry and was late getting to the venue of our party. Ok, traffic, holiday season, fine. I let it pass as we had another reservation for 5 cars to pick us up at Chelsea Piers at 10:30. They called at 10:15 to say the cars were there, the 20 of us who needed cars got off the yacht, and looked, and looked, and called, and called, no cars, anywhere. They said they were there, but 20 of us saw nary a black car. Strikes 2-6. Oh, and the dispatchers, as rude as can be. Unreal. But, I spoke to the owner who said he would get to the bottom of the problem, and decided to give them one more shot. I had a holiday dinner planned for the 20th and 3 of us needed a taxi from 23rd street to Union Square. I reserved by Noon the Friday for a 5:45 pick-up. At 5:45 I get a call from UTOG, they have no car at the moment but will call me in 20 minutes with a car number of a car that will then show up at some undetermined time in the future. I said "excuse me", and the extremely rude woman on the phone says to me.. " I said", and started to repeat herself. I told her I HEARD what she said, I just could not believe what I was hearing. You are calling me to tell me that at the time I am supposed to be picked up you have NO CAR???? And she thought this was perfectly acceptable and had an attitude with me. I canceled our car, and our account. My company has been in business for 27 years, and we strive for the absolute best in customer service, and clearly UTOG has no idea what the words customer service mean. read more

Used UTOG car service this weekend for a night out in the city with friends. The UTOG driver was polite, on time and the car was really clean! We all felt so much more comfortable taking this car service with a driver that was friendly and professionally dressed. You never know what kind of driver you are going to get with Uber!!! Have heard enough horror stories to think twice. You always get what you pay for! Anyway, we were happy with our first driver so we called the company to have another car sent to drive us back home at the end if the night and had another great experience. My company has an account with UTOG and they are completely inconsistent. They have poor customer service and are often times late. In addition, their email system is constantly down, meaning that roughly once a month, I can't get an email confirmation of my reservation because their email isn't working. After going through a series of car services, about one a year, I tried UTOG and have been using them exclusively for about 5 years. I'm generally pleased. They're usually on time or early and if they're having a real problem, they call. That's only happened a couple times. I don't think they've ever totally stood me up, which happens with other car services. The level of cleanliness of the cars is pretty good, and better with their "Presidential Service" which is slightly higher priced. The best thing is their availability. I try to make reservations as far in advance as possible, but when I can't, they usually come through. On runs FROM the airports you don't have to reserve. They almost always get a car to you within 10 minutes. I used to call as soon as the plane landed, but that is frequently too early. Now I rarely call before baggage claim. Them having so many cars available at the airports is very helpful. The bad news: their invoices need to be redesigned, they're awful. And they should just have a single charge for the ride, plus any tolls, wait time or parking. As it is, there's a base charge, then a service charge, then a miscellaneous charge. WTF? Finally, they're experimenting with new car types, as are most car services due to new laws in NYC. But the Toyota Camry is a poor choice for a car service vehicle. If they can't use Lincoln Town Cars anymore, find something as big and comfortable. Ditch the Toyotas. This is a follow-up. It's nearly 3 years since I wrote this, and I'm still generally pleased with the service, but there has been zero progress in terms of IT. No app, same old invoice software they've been using for over a decade, unhelpful website. Five years ago this might have been okay, but today people care about this stuff and their competitors pay attention to it. I took off one star from my prior review. UTOG, get with it! read more

We used this service because the Concierge at our hotel recommended it and we figured they must have had good experiences with them. Well, in our case (and from reading the reviews, we're not the only ones!), it was not good. They did not call or arrive when they said they would. When we called, they said they were over-booked and wouldn't be there for another 1/2 hour. We finally had to call another car service last-minute (luckily someone at the hotel knew someone else to call) and were able to get to the airport on time. We had to pay more than if we had paid someone else in advance, but at least he showed up right away and got us there on time! Based on our experience and the others I am now seeing on Yelp, I would NOT use UTOG - no matter what your concierge says! read more
