Terrible service!!! Been bringing my daughters here for 3 years for braiding and it's been amazing!! Now that there's new management it sucks! Unprofessional! Brought my daughter for braiding booked the first appt of the day my daughter was still not done by 3p I had to pick her up for her sisters baptism. Mrs Dee said I could bring her the next day to finish up. Went next day it was closed I called her said oh my boyfriend got in a car accident let me see if one of my girls can come. No one came the next day came back she finished. Freaking worst experience ever!!! She had the never to tell me it took so long cause she has a lot of dead ends girl BYE!!! read more

I arrived at Utopia and was instantly greeted at the door, three minutes later I am sitting in Shakia's chair. She asked about my previous relaxer experience. I explained to her how I can barely keep one in for five minutes. She was so attentive and based my scalp well. She used a relaxer for sensitive scalps and for the first time I kept a relaxer in for more than five minutes. She never left my side during the process. I received a relaxer, deep conditioning (included no extra charge), hair cut and a few tracks added. I left looking fabulous and felt valued and important. I have been going to Utopia since 2006 and do not plan on finding another salon any time soon. Mrs. Michelle is my stylist and she is very professional and accommodating. The entire salon works together as a team which gives for a positive and relaxing atmosphere. Of course, like with any shop they have their flaws but I have visited other salons and have always found my way back to Utopia and consider them my "home" hair salon. I went to this salon and my hairstyle was great, but the overall atmosphere of the place is truly not professional. and the wait time was extreme. I also sent my mom there and the first time she went, she sat there for over an hour to be informed that they did not have the right chemicals to do her hair and she would need to come back and then the second time she went she sat there for over 2 hours when she had the first appointment of the morning. She finally left. So we both go to a different salon where the staff is professional and nice and the wait isn't nearly as long. read more

I was very pleasantly surprised by Utopia Hair Salon! Everyone from the receptionist, shampoo girl and stylist could not have been more courteous, friendly and accommodating. The salon was very clean and appeared to be well maintained. At one point there were about 8 or 9+ customers in progress but the atmosphere remained relatively calm. I was a Saturday morning walk in and although the salon was extremely busy they were able to fit me in without any long wait on my part or impact to the other clients. They were able to squeeze me in due to the large organized staff. One of the ladies applied my relaxer base, another stylist applied the relaxer, the shampoo girl took care of rinsing out the relaxer, shampoo, and deep conditioner and my main stylist Ms. D. blow dried, trimmed and curled my hair with the flat iron. Sure more staff working on my hair resulted in more tips but I was very grateful to be in and out in about 2 hours on a Saturday morning. It was a very positive experience! The only area that needs improvement that I noted was the consultation. There weren't a lot of questions asked beyond type of service, scalp sensitivity, and product preferences so I would advise volunteering as much information as possible up front especially if you are receiving any chemical services. After 2+ years of trying different area salons, I will definitely be making Utopia my regular salon! read more
