I sent my daughter to the UW Urgent care because she was a student. What a horrible disappointment. She had a fever during flu season so went in, got a flu and covid test and a script for tamaflu. The Bill, wait for it over $700 for 5 minutes with a provider!! $200 for what is a $20 covid/flu lab you can buy at Walgreens. This is absolutely predatory pricing and SO wrong for college students. I saw Dr. Anthony Mistretta here (at the Prinary Care portion) a couple of times and came to him with multiple complaints. He fixed none of them. I showed him a test from another lab for testosterone that was 176 ng/mL. He did nothing about that either. This one should have been a layup. 40 year olds don't have levels below 200. I had to do my own tests, SHOW HIM, ans I still got, and I quote "I wish I was smarter and could help". I mean...testosterone therapy is a thing. You had a litany of complaints and couldn't address even the easiest one. I'd put the labs here but they came from another lab. So whatever. Good luck to anyone getting anything addressed. If it doesn't resolve on it's own you're out of luck. read more

Insurance and medicine is so frustrating - my PCP ends up changing every few years and so I've given up on doing any research. I was randomly signed up with Rachel Halstrom at UW Medicine and won the lottery. She's fantastic! She's personable, thorough, knowledgeable, respectful, and took plenty of time to address all issues. I wish I could write a positive review on the UW Medicine website but they have silly rules about not posting reviews until (who knows what - didn't waste my time figuring that out). I was a walk-in morning of as I did not realize appts open up at midnight (had checked at 11pm the night before & the next morning to see no "book an appt" options). I added my name to the queue and was told it would be 1hr 45min wait. I was totally fine with this and reported back at my allotted time; however, I then waited an additional 2.5hrs before I saw a doctor, even though I returned at the requested time. Dr. Lauri L. Hitchcock then took less than 5 min to see me and made no actual effort to provide any medical assistance. She really said "sorry" and sent me home with the suggestion to check with a different doctor. If you are looking for an Urgent Care, I heard them direct other walk-ins to one in Wallingford. It's been hard for the medical community, but I still expect to be treated like a human being. after being told the wait was four hours, I made an appointment online for the next day. When I arrived on time, the door was locked. I knocked and they ignored me pointing to a sign that said "we keep the door locked till we determine to let you in." I was extremely ill with COVID. After 23 days of severe illness I needed help as I was extremely fatigued and coughing blood. they looked at me and told me to wait outside. I was too weak to stand so I sat outside in freezing rain on the cold cement for an hour waiting for them to let me in. they had chairs but didnt bring one even though I asked. there wasnt a bench. I was shivering and almost passed out by the time they let me in. I almost called 911. They had no mercy, no compassion. I wouldnt treat a dog like this. if this is care, this is barbaric. it was 32 F, and I was severely ill With covid. read more

Was having some breathing difficulties ,they're taki really good care of me here . I'm surprise that there's so many bad ratings. The area the clinic is in is pretty seedy lotta homeless . I would come here again if I couldn't see my regular MD. As an emergency clinic when you need help, I would recommend this clinic. This is regarding UW Medicine Ballard Urgent Care. I went there on a Sunday and without going into all the details of why, the doctor failed to read to the bottom of page 2 of the evaluation and didn't give me the antibiotics I needed. I then ended up in ER. I filed a complaint which took forever, and of course, they said she didn't do anything wrong, even though she went into the e-care site and "amended" her evaluation after she noticed her error. On Sunday after being told the wait was an hour and to come back it was then an extra hour wait. Believe the other reviews when they say the wait time is an hour it's gonna be three. As always with UW Medicine the physicians are excellent but appointments take months to get, the phone trees and screeners are insufferable and navigating the facility is a challenge. Go to a CVS Minute Clinic instead, you'll thank me later. The first time I got really sick and needed an Urgent Care I went to this location and it was useless. I moved here from the east coast, where "Urgent Care" as a concept was for when you need immediate medical attention (so no time to make an appointment with your primary care physician) but you're not so unwell as to need the ER. So most Urgent Care clinics on the east coast are open 24/7 and only accept immediate walk-ins. This urgent care takes appointments and doesn't open until 10AM. The minimum wait time you'll face is 4 hours, and you will not be permitted to wait at the clinic for your appointment time. When I was seen, I was given a COVID test and absolutely no other attention, aside from checking my temperature. I requested a flu test as well and they said it was unnecessary. I was not examined at all otherwise and was dismissed with no recommended treatment and I still had to pay a copay. Just this last weekend I was once again super sick and had reason to think it might be strep. I attempted to use the UW Urgent Care online wait-line and was told it was full as soon as they opened at 10AM. So I decided to see if CVS could just do a strep test and found their Minute Clinic. I was able to make my appointment online, and was seen in less than an hour. When I saw the doctor I was given a strep test, a COVID test, and a flu test right away. The doctor actually gave me a complete examination: checking for fluid behind my ears, looking at my tonsils, checking my lymph nodes, took my BP and temperature, etc. They sent me home with a five page packet showing my test results, diagnosis, recommended treatment and follow-up, plus advice on what to do if my symptoms worsen or if I need access to an at-home COVID test in the future. And it was all covered by my insurance, no copay. Do not bother with UW Urgent Care. Go to a CVS Minute Clinic and you'll save yourself so much stress and receive significantly better care. read more

Truly awful experience. We were told to go here since our clinic couldn't get us in. They have no capacity to get you in same day for something urgent --the entire day is scheduled already. How is this an urgent care clinic? And They also don't let you wait in the vacant lobby. So plan on waiting 4+ hours in a sketchy parking lot where you and your kids will not feel safe. Went in for an X-RAY checked online, the website said 0 minute wait. I walk to the door and it is locked, a lady comes out to explain "they have reached max capacity for the night". She asked if I had an appointment and I said no. Empty lobby and they closed 2 hours early. Unacceptable of a medical urgent care. Photo was taken at 6, urgent care is supposed to be open till 8. I had an absolute gusher of a nosebleed that I just couldn't get under control for over three hours so I gathered myself up with a box of tissue and headed to this facility. I had no idea what to expect for a wait time but when I walked through the door the receptionist took one look at me and immediately summoned a nurse. The doctor came in shortly thereafter and he was kind and attentive to my needs and got my sinuses packed and the bleeding slowed to a trickle. Given the urgent nature of the care I needed I'm not sure if they gave me priority over others that were waiting, but I am very grateful for the service I received here. read more

A week or two back I needed to visit urgent care. I am new to the area and though I already have a primary care doctor at Polyclinic, their urgent care had a 2-3 hour in-person wait time that day. My partner found UW Ballard online and I made an appointment for 2-3 hours later. (It's not really an appointment, but they are upfront about this online - you're holding a spot in line and it's a rough estimate as to when that will be). I definitely appreciated being able to wait my turn at home rather than in a clinic, especially right now. While waiting at home I read some of the reviews on Yelp and nearly canceled my appointment to look elsewhere because I was so afraid that I'd go to my 'appointment' and then wait several hours and be treated poorly. Thankfully, I didn't because I had a great experience! I did have a difficult time finding the entry, and I and the two people after me did not notice the sign on the door saying to wait to be buzzed in - the front desk guy was a bit frustrated by constantly having to tell people, but he was super nice, professional, and helpful to myself and those other folks while checking us in. (At least part of the reason I wanted to write a review is to raise awareness about this door buzzing situation for his sake - HA!). I was seen almost immediately after checking in and both the nurse and doctor who saw me were AMAZING. They took time to speak with me and understand my health and concerns and then run proper diagnostics. They were extremely easy to talk to, friendly, and kind. They also were the first urgent care I've visited that understood something tricky I typically have to explain to other doctors (if I'm lucky). So 10/10 I was totally blown away by what a good experience I had and I wanted to write a review for the very kind people who helped me and for anyone who might be reading yelp reviews like I was and struggling to find care. read more

I was in the back room waiting for over 25 minutes about a possible piercing Infection( i was the only one in the waiting room) Also about my swollen lymph nodes being a possible strep sign and Dr Hitchcock completely disregarded or tried to avoid the question said there isn't any signs. I came into UW Ballard's Urgent Care because I had a kidney infection. The urgent care doctor, Dr. Dudley was making inappropriate jokes about my age, my pain and my religion. He called my prayer bracelet a lucky charm, asked if I had gone through "the change" yet and then when I said I had been in protective custody for being abused and witnessing an act of violence he said he better stop "leading the witness." When is it ever appropriate to laugh at a crime victim? NEVER. I did not come in there for a stand up comedy act. I came in there for antibiotics. read more

I went in to this clinic today for the first time and it will be my last time as well. It was 2.5 hour wait for the doctor to come in and dismiss my symptoms and thoughts I was sharing. She sent me within 10 mins of consulting. I have an aggressive rash in mouth with a small fever as well as swollen lymph nodes and she told me I had a few cold sores. Had a good experience using the online 'get in line' feature. Made an 'appointment' for 11:10am. Got the text message automatically 30 minutes prior to the appointment at 10:40am. I went to the door and was buzzed in, as the sign said. I checked in at the desk and they asked that I wait outside. Waited about 10-15 minutes outside and got a phone call from the receptionist to finish my check-in. About five minutes later the MA called me stating they would meet me at the front door. I was brought back and the MA did a very thorough job with my history and vitals. Shortly after the doctor came in. She was great, listened to my concerns and also took into consideration my past history. She did a quick exam and ordered testing that I needed. Got results quickly and left with a prescription and a plan. Overall, pleasantly surprised by how easy and relatively quickly everything went. read more

I always have good experience with this urgent care. I've also been to Ravenna one with a sprained knee. My insurance is okay so I am good with whatever they charge (I only paid the copay). I once considered looking elsewhere, but some others just seemed not the right one (using PA instead of MD) and I have a long history with UW health system, it is easy as in my PCP gets all the information. read more

Let me start by saying as a feminist I'm appalled by the level of treatment and service this establishment has chosen to provide. Especially as it appeared to be an all female office, talk about reverse discrimination. They don't correctly inform you of upfront costs or their procedures.... first huge red flag. Literally every other urgent care is only 120$ for the visit and 40$ for a standard test. Also as a university ran urgent care you should have an actual dr on-site not a nurse practitioner that when you ask her questions about medicines and treatments she says your "intimidating her". I've never had anyone in the medical field ever say this to me in my lifetime. Had to get up and walk out at that point, because I was so appalled. I was super sick and didn't expect to be treated with angry demeanor and dismissive attitude toward my questions. Also the front desk staff doesn't correctly know or understand the UW policy's and procedures nor do they care to explain them. 200$ as a deposit and from the front desk they speculated 300$ when done without tests.
