I am another patient who followed Joshua from Virginia Mason to his new home at Capitol Hill Medical. Joshua is probably the first doctor I've found in my life that I can be completely comfortable with talking to about anything and everything. He never makes me feel judged whatever the topic may be and he engages with my interest in deeply understanding my own health metrics and current science and research in an evidence based way. I've found other doctors be annoyed or dismissive when a patient wants to ask questions about their own theories and learn about health and their bodies along the way. Joshua is always patient and willing to talk through things. He genuinely tries to stay at the leading edge of developments and is often aware of new treatments or protocols as soon as they are available, but is also humble enough to be open to learning about things that may not have crossed his radar yet. He has more than once made himself available specially for me when something needed handling and schedules with travel or work were making it difficult. Working with Joshua feels like a genuine partnership on my health and he's helped talk me through concerns about certain medication types that I was hesitant to try but ultimately resulted in some of my health markers being better than they have ever been in my life. If you're LGBT and you get the chance to work with Josh -- just do it. He's a member of a dying breed that we desperately need more of and you would be privileged to be under his care. read more

I love the care I receive from Joshua Lumsden PA-C. I first started seeing him a few years ago when I lived in Tacoma since there weren't a lot of trans-inclusive providers in my area. And when he moved from VM to Capitol Hill Medical I followed along. Now I happily drive over an hour from my new place to visit him (fortunately this is only needed once or twice a year since we are able to handle most things through Telehealth and portal messages). He's always been super great about listening to my particular concerns, collaborating with me on my care needs, asking what terminology I use for anatomy, and has been super non-judgemental and actually supportive and informative on some of the more difficult topics. A huge difference from most of the medical practitioners I've encountered in the past! I will continue making the trek to see Josh as long as he's still in practice. read more

I followed Josh from VM. He's been my doctor for many years at this point and I have no complaints. He's a doctor that I feel like I can confide in and has my best interests at heart. He's also very responsive through the portal. The office is great and very accessible as well. He's helped my manage my ADHD, GI issues, and general health very well. Josh is very thorough and is ready to give referrals as well he's got a solid network of other providers that he's recommended to me, from personal training to nutrition services, that have all been great. I have been a long time patient of Joshua Lumsden's since 2019, and followed him from Virginia Mason to his practice now at Capitol Hill Medical. I can say with ease that he is hands down the best provider I have ever had, and I have felt lucky to be under his compassionate and knowledgeable care. He has helped me navigate through pretty serious and complex health concerns which culminated in several ER visits and surgeries, and I honestly don't know where I would be without his thoughtful expertise and willingness to listen. Josh is the type of provider who does just that, he listens. With true empathy and concern for the wellbeing of his patients, and trust in the validity of their personal experience and bodily autonomy. Being treated by him has always felt more like a collaborative effort than prescriptive formula, he checks in with you on your feelings about his thoughts and recommendations for your health, and doesn't push for solutions that don't feel good to you. I can say from my personal experience that this is very rare in the medical field, and throughout my difficult experiences with my health, I more often unfortunately experienced the exact opposite. I trust him implicitly with my health, because I feel trusted by him in return. I feel comfortable coming to him with any concern, as I know he will help me find the right treatment plan that works for me. I appreciate that he treats me holistically and sees my wellbeing as interconnected, while being extremely knowledgeable and grounded in science based evidence. I value his attentiveness and responsiveness, as I know I can message him anytime and he often gets back to me right away. Joshua is very educated in queer and trans healthcare which is essential to me in a PCP as I am also queer and non-binary. I present more femme and alternative which has led to some pre judgement in the past when seeking treatment, but I have never once felt or feared that from Josh. If anything, I appreciate the kinship we share in alternative expression. The new office is lovely and Donita and Jacob at the front desk are always so warm and helpful. I love that he's at Capitol Hill Medical now and don't have to go through Virginia Mason to get in touch with him. I do not recommend seeing Joshua Lumsden, PA-C. It's important to know ahead of time that he is white and has tribal tattoos and dreads. I am not judgmental about tattoos and self-expression, but I am judgmental about cultural appropriation. I am white, trans, queer, and disabled. I have worked in medical settings for years. I was referred by another provider due to his expertise in working with complex patients. The good: This practice has 40 minute appointments. The space itself is beautiful. I was able to access trans healthcare and the provider was knowledgeable about trans healthcare. He follows up regularly via message. Now, you must be thinking: "That sounds pretty good! Why one star?" I thought it was great too. Unfortunately, things got very strange. First, whenever I said "no" to him, or asked him to do the tasks of his job, such as re-checking his notes or our previous messages before making me repeat myself multiple times via message because he didn't check, he told me I sounded irritable or angry. He also told me I needed to trust him more after we had only met for one appointment. I believe that trust is earned, not given, especially in matters that involve my body and sensitive topics. Demands for trust, combined with an inability to respect a "no," are huge red flags for me. He was overly focused on my feelings and my purported lack of trust, often saying things like "I hear your frustration" in contexts where that wasn't what I was feeling. Over time, I became more afraid to disagree for fear of being painted as angry and distrustful. I tried multiple times to address the issue directly with him. In the past two weeks, he began to message me way too often, including ideas for treatments for issues I hadn't asked for help with. Some of these, like diuretics, are directly contraindicated for me due to my other health concerns. I began to ignore his messages, as I don't have the time to address concerns I don't have or are not the most important to me right now. Although all of this was weird, I didn't switch to a different provider because many medical professionals do things like this. They make weird suggestions sometimes. Few are open to feedback. Unfortunately, the reality is that I need medical care, no matter my personal feelings about a provider. I don't feel like I have to love my PCP for them to provide adequate medical care. I was also scheduled for a pain appointment that he suggested that I was looking forward to, as my pain has not been adequately addressed over the past ten years, in part, due to medical transphobia. A few days after I ignored that weird message and the day before my pain appointment, he messaged me to let me know that he was canceling my pain appointment the next day and removing me from his panel because he decided he was not an appropriate fit. I asked why and received the following response (edited for space): "I did a review of records and notes and put a lot of effort into understanding your case. It is that work to understand that is the main driver of terminating care. The complexity is probably better served by a board certified internal medicine physician. My own work style and neurodiversity means that I am likely to forget things and need reminders. You've expressed frustration about this, and I do not want to continue to frustrate you. It wasn't an easy decision, and I apologize for letting you know a day before the visit. Even so, it is important to me that I disclose my limitations and be honest when it is not a good fit." I don't have a problem with medical professionals practicing within their scope, but the timing is suspicious. I had given him my medical history two months before, so he had time to review it, and we had talked about the complexity of my medical needs. I had also been specifically referred by a trusted provider because of his experience with managing complex medical care. I also have ADHD. It is not my job, as a patient, to be the accommodation plan for his disability. Especially when I am not capable of being that due to my own ADHD. As a medical professional with ADHD, I can definitively say that it IS my job (and his) to take good notes, proofread, and double check my notes in order to meet the requirements of my job while also having ADHD. Anyways, now I am left without a PCP in the middle of dealing with complex health issues. Trans-competent PCPs are hard to find, add chronic illness and it's basically impossible. It is incredibly difficult to start over with a provider when you have chronic illness. Given all of this, I believe that Joshua Lumsden more interested in unquestioning compliance and unearned trust than in providing medical care. I believe that he lied about his reasons for terminating me as a patient because I had the audacity to have boundaries and reasonable expectations for my care and our interactions. It's taking me some time to write this review but i decided it probably is a good idea for me to go ahead and do it. I was excited to find a medical clinic that one of their specialties was working with gay men, and I traveled quite a distance to go to the clinic, and they also excepted my insurance. I will schedule the doctor Chu. When I arrived the staff at the front reception counter was very warm and welcoming. I was taken back to the doctors office, and at that point in time I should've known that it was not going to be a good thing. He was at his desk, and when he turned around at first, he had a big smile on my face till he saw me, and then that smile in a way. Perhaps I didn't fit what he thought a stereotypical gay man would look like I am very tall and I do have some weight on me. He did not shake my hand. He told me to sit on the table and started to ask me a whole bunch of questions and said he wanted to start off with a blood panel work up. He had asked the last time I had a HIV test and I explain to him when I had had one which wasn't very long ago and then I was negative. He didn't tell me he was going to run another one but that's OK I'm not upset over that. He told me also he wanted to do a full physical at the next visit and this is when things started to get a little strange because he started to tell me how to do a physical on myself at home. I mean he went into detail about checking my chest, checking other areas of my body, and that other next session I was going to report back to him at what I found and that's how my physical was going to be. It was that I started to feel like I was a disease like he was afraid to touch me because he might get fat. I felt really down and depressed after I left I have another appointment scheduled and I called back the following day and asked if I could see a different doctor in the clinic and that time all they had was an ARNP and they had to discuss it between themselves if they thought it was appropriate for me to see the other individual, and I explained what it occurred and so they let me see the other person And I shouldn't have gone back because I was treated so much differently when I came back and not in a good way. I never went back. I just couldn't go through any more of when I felt at that time was degrading. I've never been to a facility where you were doing your own physical on yourself and had to report back. Never met a doctor that wouldn't even shake your hand when they met you, it's just very cold and unwelcoming for me. This was my own personal experience. I'm sure that everybody has had wonderful experiences but it's hard to be a gay man and finally find a clinic to work with and you're only treated in my opinion like a second class citizen. I'm giving two stars just for the fact that the people at the front desk were super nice. I feel there's a need for a medical clinic of this nature, and I hope everybody has a better experience than I had and I wish them all the best. read more

Gender-affirming care? Yeah right. Hands down the worst care I have ever received from a doctor. I had a complex gender-affirming surgery that resulted in two complications, both very slow to heal wounds and a MRSA infection. I wasn't getting adequate follow-up care with my surgery team, so I reached out to my PCP at Cap Hill Medical for a referral to a wound healing center. My PCP blocked every effort I made to get this referral. First he said that insurance wouldn't cover a second opinion. Then, when I called insurance and verified that it would be covered, he continued to ignore my request for a referral, reiterating that I should seek advice from my surgery team and "ask to speak to the surgeon." I wouldn't have been asking for a second opinion if my surgery team had provided decent care. My surgeon was utterly unavailable, literally never even in the same building. After two weeks of back and forth, I finally gave up and went to a Zoomcare, where they provided the referral and honestly seemed dismayed that my wound had gone so long untreated. Additionally, I needed regular labs done for my hormone levels and had done so every six months through Cap Hill medical. In January, as a fun surprise, my PCP added vitamin D testing to my panel without asking my consent, resulting in a $306 uncovered charge. He never apologized. I am still going back and forth with insurance and Labcorp to resolve it, 11 months later. My wife was loyal to Cap Hill Medical for years and has always spoken highly of Dr. Rongisch. All I can say is that her practice has gone WAY downhill and she should pay closer attention to the staff she's hiring. read more

I am not a Yelp reviewer or responder typically but after a quick read today I felt I need to comment (you could say "refute") on the few extremely negative reviews I read regarding Dr. Gaynor and his office staff. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED POORLY OR RUDELY BY Dr. Gaynor or his staff. As a person who has been positive for over 35 years, I feel as though I have a certain amount of credibility and veracity. The staff at Capitol Hill Medical has always treated me well. I am confused about what I know and what I have read. If you have an opinion or an issue that needs to be addressed in any situation. Please take the time to follow up with your care giver and/or staff. I have seen good businesses and caring people seriously impacted by negative Yelp reviews that say things that the person wouldn't say directly to someone's face. Have they intestinal fortitude to talk directly to people rather than hiding behind a Yelp review. Respect people and they will generally give you the same respect. Don't write negative things in a fit of annoyance or anger. It might occasionally be you that is the issue not the provider. Think first, hate second! read more

I first started coming here over 10 years ago. I was a young, freshly out gay kid and it was my first time seeing a doctor who treated me with respect. Dr Chu was kind, informative and seemed like he really cared about my well-being. He'll forever have my gratitude for working with me through out the years and showing me what affirming medical care can look like. When I first started I never had major problems with the practice. I remember some of the office staff were a little brisk and apathetic at times like some other reviewers noted, but I never took things personally. A pain point for me has always been insurance. I know this is systemic to the American healthcare system. I've struggled to meet coverage as I switched between jobs and my plan changed each time. Each time Cap Hill Medical provided no support or guidance on navigating insurance plans--they've had a very hands off approach. I started grad school a few years ago and for the first time my healthcare plan didn't include Cap Hill Medical as a provider. I called the front desk to see if there was a way I could continue coverage--if I could pay out of pocket for just an annual check-up or at least keep some kind of communication until I graduated and got a new insurance plan. It was important to me to keep seeing Dr Chu. They responded with a *very* forceful no. I emailed to follow-up and the response was equally cold. I had a health crisis in grad school that was very much related to being gay--I went to a different provider and was treated with shame and low-key homophobia. I contacted Cap Hill Medical again to see if they could make a special case to see me for just one visit--after 10 years of seeing Dr Chu I just wanted to talk to a gay doctor I could trust. The response was more sympathetic, but still firm: under no circumstance would they see me. It hurt knowing I had been coming to this office for years, had built up relationships with the staff, but in my moment of crisis, all of that didn't matter. I ended up going to Planned Parenthood--and the respect they showed me completely shocked me. They proactively called my insurance for me and helped me sort out billing. They made it clear I was welcome and my health concerns were real and important. They gave me referrals and helped me navigate to find appropriate diagnostics. I've seen Cap Hill Medical evolve from a smaller, lesser known office, to a place that really is the cornerstone of many gay and trans people's medical lives. While I personally don't know if Im comfortable coming back when my insurance changes yet again, I hope they never lose sight of their relationships with patients. There's so much out there fragmenting gay and trans lives, consistency for us is rare and precious. read more

So many good reviews makes me wonder if they pay for the reviews or not because I have a completely different experience dealing with David Holt, ARNP. He is unresponsive to refill requests, and holds his patients in little regard. I first saw David when I moved to Seattle, and at first experience thought I had found a suitable replacement for my doctor in California; that was until I decided to travel out of the state and needed to get my prescriptions refilled recently. Here is a chain of events. Friday, November 15th - Called my online pharmacy to refill my prescriptions. Was advised that the prescription had expired and a refill request was being sent to Capital Hill Medical. Spoke with Capital Hill at the same time to get fax # and advise a refill request would be coming in. Monday, November 18th - Called OptumRX again to refill the prescriptions and was advised that they had not received the refill authorization. Spoke with Capital Hill at the same time and was advised David Holt had the refill request and would be faxing it in ASAP. Later the same afternoon on November 18th - I called again to OptumRX and still no refill authorization. Tried to contact Capital Hill Medical and get an answering machine several times. I finally get hold of a person who states she is swamped and alone in the office. I ask about my prescription refill and get put on hold. She comes back and says David Holt has not, I repeat, NOT refilled my HIV prescriptions because he could't reach me via email. Strange, that I happened to email him at 3:38PM today asking for some type of response on my refills, which I have been trying to get refilled since Friday. When I advised the individual at their end of the phone that I had sent David Holt an email earlier today, she said she would let him know. I asked if I could speak with Mr. Holt because I am worried about not getting the refills for my HIV medications and am told that he is "busy with other things, and the best way to reach him is via email". Well here it is later in the day, and guess what.... No response from David Holt. My husband even replied do an email chain between himself and David Holt asking him to please contact me regarding my prescriptions. Let me be very clear that Mr. Holt's office has on file that we are married, and even has an authorization to discuss our medical treatments with the other party. Yet, still no contact, and no refills for my HIV medications. Now, I ask you... What good is an HIV specialist that has no interest in ensuring his patients have their medication? Better yet, what good is an HIV specialist that has no interest in ensuring his patients have their medication, and a lack of basic courtesy to even speak with, or return and email to a client, especially when I am told by the person at his office that he is at his computer while I am on the phone with her, but he is too busy to take 2 minutes to take my call? Don't be fooled by all the good reviews, because from this experience, I can assure you they are not a complete representation of how patients at Capital Hill Medical, or at least those seen primarily by David Holt are treated. My best advice is to follow the not so good reviews of this medical office because they will give you a much better idea of what you are in for. read more

Dr. Rob is the perfect doctor for me. He is helpful, genuinely concerned for his patients and very knowledgeable. Even better, he is committed to building a sustainable practice to service gay and lesbian clientele. This place is fantastic. Seriously... from the first person who answers the phone, through your doctors visit, this place is a class act. I had been going to Virginia Mason, but was frustrated with the ever changing physician staff, lack of knowledge of things that could effect a gay mans health, and what felt like a continual guessing game. Finally - I decided to give Dr. Killian a try over at Capitol Hill Medical. From the first phone call, I could tell this was a class act office. The receptionist was extremely warm and friendly. She talks to the doctor and determines that they'd like my first appointment to be the next day - yes, that's right... if there is a need, they can get you to see YOUR doctor within a matter of days. The doctors (I've been to both Killian and Chu) have been extremely knowledgeable, compassionate and supportive. One of the best things about this office, they respect your time. At this office, a 2pm appointment, is just that... a 2pm appointment. No more waiting an hour to see your doctor. If you live in Seattle, especially if you're Gay - this is the place to go. read more

Reviewing doctors isn't quite like writing a review of a restaurant, but I'll take a stab at it. Several months ago, my old provider decided to close his practice and join Qliance (or whatever it's called). I wished him well but since I have insurance, it wasn't going to work for me. To be honest, I really hate trying to find a decent doctor. Straight doctors, at worst, can be exceedingly tiresome and judgmental, if you choose badly. At best, it's awkward to have these clinical discussions with some straight dude. Fortunately, I found Capitol Hill Medical (CHM) and Dr. Chu. I cannot begin to express how much I love the staff at CHM. They're super friendly and total dolls. In short, they're totally FIERCE! Dr. Chu is a superb doctor and I'm really, really glad that I've found him. He's caring, sensible, and genuinely concerned with your wellness. In short, a whole lot of love from me for Dr. Chu and CHM. read more

After a recent visit for abdominal pain, he told me I was fine. I went to another doctor who found I need to have my gallbladder removed. My scripts are not refilled timely. I've had my share of bad experiences looking for a GP, so when I heard all the rave reviews about Capitol Hill Medical, I made an appointment. Dr. Killian wasn't taking new patients, so I made an appointment with Dr. Chu. While I can't compare the two, I can say without a doubt that Dr. Chu is fantastic. Trust is always a huge issue for me with anyone I interact with, but especially doctors / dentists. Dr. Chu has a very calm, open demeanor that puts you at ease right away. My immediate needs for a GP are actually fairly run of the mill: Mostly monitoring for conditions that run in the family. Despite that, past doctors have never been able to speak to me about them in the right way: They either treat me like I'm wasting their time for being worried, or don't really know what they need to be looking for. Not the case with Dr. Chu. He patiently walked through my concerns, making sure to say (1) what level of worry, if any, he had for each issue; (2) what tests he would do to take stock of the issue; and (3) what I could do on my own to monitor the issue. Basically, I trust that Dr. Chu knows what he's doing, and he's given me the info I need to take care of myself as well. I'm elated with the level of care I get here, and I'll keep going here for as long as I'm in Seattle. Last bit of goodness at this clinic - they make extensive use of phone and email, if you give the OK. That means I don't have to return a week later just to get lab results - Dr. Chu just gives me a call to talk about them. A nice touch. read more

I chose Capitol Hill Medical after moving back from San Diego. Dave Holt is the doctor I've been seeing, and I've been very pleased with my experience here. I haven't typically had to wait long for an appointment, and on the day of my appointment, they've always been running on schedule. Imagine that - a medical professional who's actually able to stay on time! The one time Dave was a few minutes late, he apologized, and explained that one of his previous patients needed a little bit of extra time. He's always very prompt to reply via email, and when I switched pharmacies (because my insurance company decided to stop covering one pharmacy), he phoned in my prescription to the new pharmacy very quickly. He and the receptionists have always been very friendly. The only exception was when I called to let them know that traffic was going to make me a few minutes late - the female receptionist I spoke to came off as a bit harsh and told me to hurry up, but I understand completely - a patient coming late first thing in the morning puts them behind for the rest of the day, and they really care about being punctual for their patients, and I admire that. Luckily I was only 3 minutes late, and I think everything worked out. Just try not to be late! But again - very friendly staff, and Dave Holt has always been very kind as well. read more

He is genuinely concerned for his patients and creates a welcoming environment in his office, something I truly appreciate when dealing with any sensitive issues. I also felt much more comfortable being able to work with a gay doctor who I could talk openly to about any concerns / questions I may have. The absolute best care I could hope for. Christopher Gaynor has been my doctor for almost twelve years; I have moved with him when he moved practices. I still remember how stunned I was that during our second appointment in those first visits he remembered the name of my cat. Maybe it was in the notes, maybe it was in his memory, either way I took note that he payed close attention to detail. He acts fast to get you to the right people if there is a concern he cannot address. He is thorough and kind. He genuinely cares about his patients. He has gotten me through some tough times. I can't say how lucky I feel to have had him look after me all these years. I have never felt judged for any health concern or question. I have never been afraid to be honest with him or ask hard questions. He has always been honest with me, treated me with respect and dignity, and has impeccable integrity. Dr. Gaynor . A few words come to mind; assembly line healthcare! He runs late and rushes the patient through THEIR appointment. This happened to me multiple times, actually every appointment I had with him. Let me tell you about the time I decided Dr. Gaynor didn't give a flying fuck about providing quality healthcare services. For example; My annual physical appointment. All he did was a Q/A health history and collected blood specimens. I asked him is that all you are going to do? He got real annoyed with me (facial expressions/body language). But I'm a person of color and I know I need to SELF ADVOCATE! I asked aren't you going to examine my body? Palpate my abdomen? Testicular exam? (Family history of testicular cancer). He did so after I asked but of course it was awkward as fuck! I knew I could no longer keep seeing this mofo! I found a new gay male medical provider and I am much happier! He respects my time, listens to me, doesn't rush through my appointment, is thorough. But most of all understands that the doctor/patient interaction is ritualistic in a way. Patients are presenting their vulnerabilities to a medical provider who is suppose to be compassionate, understanding, empathetic and respectful! In conclusion; if you are a gay male that needs zero human connection and just wants VERY QUICK routine Prep follow up exams. Then Dr. Gaynor is a match made in heaven or hell rather! read more

My primary care physician moved to Hawaii last year (lucky him!) and I was fortunate enough to be referred to Capitol Hill Medical. Dr. Chu is one of the nicest and most caring doctors I have ever been to. He is very patient and thorough and always takes time to explain test results, treatment, etc. He also has a knack for educating along the way, which really builds a sense of trust and comfort. A 93 year old friend who has it very much together reminded me how good I have it with Doctor Chu, and the office staff compared to the yet very qualified Doctor I use to see. When the front desk staff sound like they are smiling over the phone, that helps create a welcoming environment. When my primary Doctor, and my Dentist both have the similar styles I can work with, then I need to work with them. Usually a doctor visit means arriving early only to wait 20 minutes in the waiting room, then another 20-30 minutes in the exam room while you wait for the doctor to finish the other patients. (Never mind that you can hear the exam of the people in the adjacent exam rooms! No doubt they can hear your exam just as easily.) Not so at Cap Hill Medical. You wait in the waiting room and your called into the doctor's actual office when it's your turn! No waiting around in a sterile room waiting. This is so much more humane and personal. It's how doctor-patient relationship should be: You don't feel like a number or a claim or just another chart... Kudos Cap Hill Medical. read more

BEWARE! Complaints against Capitol Hill Medical with Attorney Generals Office and Department of Health. So I have been a patient here of Dr Holt's for many many years. Sadly the staff and care are no longer looked at and it is just about money...well at least to front of house. Donita Baines is completely awful, rude and extremely disrespectful with their ugly behavior. Manager walked out with a slight attitude where I didn't even feel like explaining and just sat down and made a complaint with Attorney Generals Office, Department of Health and other places. As a Gay man, having a practice like Capitol Hill Medical is a big deal for me. Years ago, when asking a previous doctor if he would give me an HIV test for the first time, I remember him asking me why I would do that? And I remember how uncomfortable I felt telling him that I was a Gay man, and starting t become sexually active, and I remember him pausing over his notes with that "oh" look on his face and then a sudden, palpable change in his demeanor to me. I never went back. Having a practice that caters to the Gay community and understands me as a Gay man means so much to me. Being able to ask for an HIV test has become a very comfortable and even responsible-feeling thing to do. And, I've never had less than a great experience there. In addition, the fact that CHM has a blog in which they respond to questions and concerns they receive from patients and the community they serve is a huge deal, very cool, and demonstrates that they are more than just a medical practice ... they are part of the community they serve and a big contributor to the health and well being of us all. Let me start by saying I was a patient of Dr. K for 12 years. Then one day I received some conflicting information about the medication I was on and decided to ask for clarification. The next thing I know Dr. K insulted me, belittled me, verbally abused me and banned me from Clinic. Please understand that I am not just ramping and raging. I have written documents from Dr. K and if I were so inclined to post them here, I would let you the reader interpret statements written by his own hand and see if you deserve to be treated as Dr. K treated me. (I don't think I will post them because I will not stoop to his level of ethics) I am however brining this case before you the Patient, the American Medical Association, the King County Medical Association, the Washington State Board and the BBB. Again, if I am wrong, I am wrong but from his hand to the written document those individuals shall make up their own minds. You and I as the patient have the right to ask questions of our "trusted" medical doctors. Watch for developments as they occur. read more

Guess they don't need or want new patients. I had been a patient of Dr. Killian for a few years. The receptionists were always nice so i give them 1 star bonus for past performance. Anyway Killian left apparently not in good standing. I guess he had some personal issues and drama happened at the clinic. Ok it happens. I saw they got a new Dr. in addition to Chu and the other guy. Figured I'd give her a chance. Maybe they still had my records and wanted me as a patient. So i called 2 days ago and explained i used to see dr Killian. They said the other 2 weren't accepting new patients but maybe the new doctor was. But she'd have to ask and get back to me. Am i the only one that thinks it is strange the receptionist wouldn't know in advance what to tell new patients? Or in my case an old patient of the clinic. Well anyway 2 days later, still no call back. I guess a yes/no question like "hey doc, are you accepting new patients?" Is too time consuming to ask her and too much trouble to call me back. Maybe that means business is good, so they wont be hurting from my 2 star review because they don't need new patients anyway. I wish there were more LGBT clinics out there. But I will look for a new doctor somewhere else. read more

This office is great for primary care. The friendly staff make setting up appointments easy, and they get me in quickly when there is something urgent. Dr. Chu listens well, minds details, and pays attention to overall wellness. It is evident that he really cares about his patients. He keeps abreast of the latest research, and uses technology to make communication and refills convenient. read more

When I moved to Seattle a friend referred me to this office. I have been a patient of Dr. Rongitsch for about a year and couldn't be happier. She listens to all of my needs without pushing anything. She is easy to talk to and the office staff are very friendly and professional. Being a patient of a gay oriented office has made my medical experience much more pleasant. I don't have to explain anything and no silly or unnecessary questions are asked. Highly recommend! read more

David Holt is extremely missed. Dr. Gaynor does not seem to know what he is doing. First, he knowingly told me to come back for lab tests after I got on Medicare. Then, I find out he does not take medicare. He is going to be the downfall of Capitol Hill Medical. read more

I started going to Capitol Hill Medical because though I had had a gay doctor at a previous clinic, I was looking forward to going to a clinic where the doctor is gay, much of the staff is gay or gay-friendly and is a small clinic. It's keeping money in the community and "in the family". Dr. Chu is great at answering any questions and helping me feel comfortable with my health and treatment. He also communicates test results and will answer questions by email which I LOVE. The staff is great, can't speak highly enough! read more

Well, as they say the honeymoon is over. I've been going here for two years and have to say first of all Dr. Chu is the reason this office gets three stars. He is great as a physician and at the end of the day that's the main purpose of seeing a doctor. My only complaint I would have are the emails you get relating to your test results seem a little too "fake-familiar" (the Hiya! intros come to mind). I don't know, but I see him once a year for about 20 minutes and I beyond that I don't know him so how the emails come across just seems a little fake. Oh, and that he called me by my real first name instead of my middle name that I go by: I actually LIKED that simply because it was an honest reflection of the relationship I have with my doctor. There was no need to send me an email apologizing for that. (Then again I HATE it when they say your name at 24 Hour Fitness at check in since they just read it off a screen) That's my only complaint about the good Doctor. Other than that he's friendly and does take the time to get information out of you about your health and since I'm very paranoid about anyone dealing with my health he definitely is top notch. The office staff cost two stars. They have a new office manger/biller who was about the most unhelpful person I have run into since the lady at Emerald City Medical Arts. I have new insurance and the first thing out of her mouth was they probably wouldn't be able to bill them (or then again since it's part of GH's First Choice Health network maybe they can bill it without any problems) but maybe I should call and find out, or maybe they could call. She really didn't care either way. (Gee, maybe customer service should kick in at some point huh?) Now being worried Group Health wouldn't pay for the services I went to the hall and called and they verified the provider would need to bill the insurance company and that the services would be covered. I submitted a review in the past but it never got posted. I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Chu and his team. I've been a patient of Dr. Chu's for years and truly feel cared for each and every time I enter his office. His practice should be the benchmark for how all medical clinics operate. Dr. Chu takes ample time to discuss why I'm there and I can tell he truly wants to understand and address my concerns. I never feel rushed or dismissed.
