It was late and the first tow company came, took one look at my German cars spare tire and said "you need a tow home". I am alone at the airport at night and felt unsafe. I called V and U and they said they would arrive in 15 min with equipment to inflate my spare. 1) they arrived on time late at night 2) they helped locate a nail in my tire and inflated it 3) they tested for leaks 4) they were polite and caring and nice to me 5) and here is the kicker! They asked if I would call them to make sure I arrived home SAFELY! And the father :daughter team That came to help me offered to meet me if I had any problems on the way home. I really hope people read this and STAY AWAY from these guys... I had a breakdown 4/26/17, and my service contract provider offered roadside assistance and sent these guys out to tow me to a shop. At 5:00p, I was told that a driver would meet me in about 45 min. My roadside assistance called me on two separate occasions to see if the driver had arrived, and they finally arrived around 9pm just to tow my all-wheel drive car without a flatbed, or the wheel dolly for the rear end. I recently used them in Martinez California had 2 tows I paid with company card no issue ,When I got the invoice the invoice was shorter than what they billed me I've been trying to call them repeatedly and I keep getting these dispatchers who don't know what I'm talking about and cannot get ahold of a manager to speak to Due to the fact that don't start until 10 and then you need to give in 2 hours to get up and ready so call them by lunch and then when you call them by lunch they're busy very poor managing very poor admin service .. physically the tow was great service was godd just admin issues and Managers are lazy wise they fall under par I would give him a 0 at a 10 Do not use them if you have a company need an invoicing.. read more

There is good reason this towing "service" is rated poorly. My wife and I had a flat tire just outside of Oakland. V & U was dispatched to change it (the lugnuts were just too tight for my aging body). After 1/2 hour, we checked on the tow job and were told the truck was "in transit". aForty-five minutes later, we checked again, and they told us that we weren't in Oakland, so they decided not to make the trip. They gave us no notice...just decided not to show up. Fortunately, we found a towing service in Lafayette that took care of us promptly. Last night I left my light on in my vehicle while doing some late night errands. When I'm ready to go home my car is completely dead. It's raining and everything that seemed that could go wrong was. I called V&U and the dispatcher was very courteous. They gave me an ETA of 30 minutes but were actually there in about 15. Once they arrived to my vehicle Moises was quick and efficient. They also damaged the bumper.The owner in the office and the other worker in the other office could not help me with anything.Not only that but they had one guy passed out on the couch with no shoes and no socks all I could see was dirty feet stinky feet he stunk up the whole office I almost threw up I don't know how people like that stay in business. If I could give negative stars I would. This company told my insurance they will be there in one hour. At one hr 15 I called them and politely inquired as to where they were. I was given the runaround by someone whose accent conveniently got really bad all of a sudden and he hung up on me. I called back 5 minutes later and said I am sorry we got disconnected. He said yes your driver is on the way I said I will call you back. I said how long and his accent got horrible and he hung up on me. ZERO STARS for "Vindictive and Unhappy Towing Service!" Unfortunately my insurance company picked them today when I needed a tow. V&A said they'd be there for me in 45 mins. 1 hour later my insurance checked with me to see if they had arrived, and they had not. V&A said they'd "be there in 15 mins." 30 mins later, no V&A tow truck. My insurance called me again and I told them I hadn't heard from V&A. They called V&A and said I'll hear someone soon. The driver calls me and says he is "a few blocks away....be there shortly." 30 MINS later....no tow truck! Unreal. Another 45 mins later Victor for V&A got on a conference call with me and my insurance. He flat out LIED and said, "my driver is right in front of your place." Whaaaaat?? Unreal. I confirmed the address with the driver and he wasn't there. This is such an unethical company. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM! After OVER 3 hours of back and forth with my insurance, dispatch and the driver....I demanded another tow company. So many hours wasted that I needed at an auto shop. I filed a complaint with my insurance about V&A and said that if they don't drop them as a referral company, I'll change insurance coverage. This is a nightmare company. I was in dire straits, having had a giant 28 foot long and 14 foot tall RV delivered to me and the mover saying it was impossible to fit it in the driveway it was to be stored in. Illegal as it was to have it parked on the street even for one night, time was of the essence. I was fortunate to have been passed through to V&U, who came by, scouted the situation, and were very quick to get the gear necessary for the move on a very tight deadline on a Saturday afternoon. What was turning out to be a nightmare they made painless, and they performed a miracle in getting it to fit in a space with only a couple inches of clearance on either side. My boy that owns a local shop Absolute Truck and Body recommended this tow company to me about 5 years or so ago because I'm a picky person who likes to request the type of tow I need because some of my vehicles have suspension/rim and tire, and some are just work trucks. They pretty much can tow anything, weather you have a high end ride and need a flat bed, or if you just have a regular work truck, they can tow whatever, and give you a good price. I have never been left waiting more then 45 min, even when I was in Palo Alto one day. With well over 20 tows from these guys, I wouldn't recommend anyone else for a better service or deal in town. read more

We even got a fair reasonable rate from Orinda to Berkeley, much much lower than ALL the rest of the people we called that tried charging $100-200 more. I had a travel trailer that needed to be backed into a very tight driveway with a significant dip and very little clearance, the driver who originally brought it down (different company) tried a couple times but gave up. V&U was able to come over on short notice and were amazing. They were dealing with a layout that looked impossible, but they never once voiced concerns about having to call it quits. They kept trying, carefully adjusting the angle many times until they managed to fit the trailer in just right. Very unprofessional company! I called ahead to get a tow from hayward to San Ramon and they quoted me 200 over the phone. When the driver showed up the bill said 380! I told him I was quoted for a lower price and he started coming up with excuses that it was $50 to show up, still not equaling the original amount but that I could call in to dispute the amount. After calling in the to the office the lady said they charge a fee for the miles to drive to my house as well as to return from San Ramon which was never told to me. So many made up hidden fees that was not discussed at the time of me calling in for the quote. I would never do business with these people! I called a company that was listed through google for a tow truck to come and get me car from Hone Depot in East Oakland, Ca. at 3:57 pm on 6/04/2021 and the Lady that answered the phone dispatched the call to where I was, she did tell me that it will be about .45 min to and hour, time went buy and i had to call the phone number listed on google search again and I stated to the company, look I've been here waiting for almost 1 and 45min. i was mad at that time she placed me on hold and then came back about 20 minutes later and stated to me that the driver was just dropping of another car and will be to my destination in 15 20 min. still no driver I called the company back (at this point I'm assuming this is some one that V&U contracts through . still no A&U, I placed a call back to the Company A&U contracts with and the rep. stat that the driver is not answering, she then gave me the number to the tow truck driver which was 510-206-3085 . then I call that number a couple of times the the person answered the phone which was Victor and he replied who is this and i asked him what he meant not knowing what's going own i asked him what do you mean? i said I've been waiting for hours for you , then he asked me are you the one at the Home Depot Parking lot , i said yes , he then repeated over and over I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Could not get hold of dispatcher by phone because he did not (or would not ) answer and his voicemail was full. My car overheated and I needed a flatbed to tow my rear wheel drive from Castro Valley to San Mateo. Very polite man took my information and said he'd be there in 40 mins. Quoted me an extremely reasonable price of $120. He arrived about 10 mins late, apologizing for it which was fine since I was happy he arrived within the hour. (Plus you never know with Bay Area traffic). He said I could wait in the truck while he pulled the car up since it was windy; inside the truck was really clean. My apartment complex in San Jose California was doing some construction on the buildings. the contractor hired this towing company to drop off storage units in our parking lots around 730-8am. I was horrified to walk out to my car to find my rear bumper had been completely ripped off my car by the tow truck driver dropping off the storage unit across from my vehicle! I called the company and sent them the pictures of the unit, my damaged red vehicle and the red paint on the storage unit they dropped off. The driver/company denied it was was extremely rude!! After I had spoken to the management about the hit and run THEY TRIED TO COME TOW MY CAR WITHOUT ME ASKING THEM TOO! I had to go to my insurance and they continued to deny it. This company allows their tow truck drivers TO COMMIT HIT AND RUNS with no consequences!!! I called a tow company, and I got sent a driver from V&U towing, might be some type of third party dispatcher service. Anyway I got into a hit & run situation and my car took all the damage. The ETA was 45min but driver got there a little after 1hr (typical for tow companies). The driver Cesar was extremely helpful and friendly. He told me about possibly extra damages that may occur from pulling my car onto flatbed, he walked me through his whole process. So there wouldn't be no surprises after the tow service. Price wasn't too bad $120 given that my car was completely un moveable. These old reviews don't seem accurate, possible past drivers made the company look bad but I had no problem.
