I got online and searched for "best barber shops in Queens." Right at the top of the search was Prestige Barbershop here in Lefferts. Honestly, I've walked past this place many times before without stopping. I had the impression that barbershops in Kew Gardens don't always deliver the best fades. Naturally, I assumed this one might be the same and planned to head to Jamaica for a fade instead. But these guys have done something smart. They have a website, offer online scheduling, and showcase all their barbers on Instagram. That's what made me decide to give them a shot. I checked out the barbers and their work on Instagram, and I was impressed -- their fades looked solid. That simple, smart move of being visible online and showing their skills won them a new customer. I told the owner kudos for that. Plus, booking an appointment was really easy and convenient with no back and forth or hassle. If you've ever dealt with barbers who make the scheduling process more complicated than it needs to be, you know what I mean. The cut looks clean, and I like it, though next time I might go back to a fade. I'm used to getting fades, but I'm open to trying new styles. I'll see how it grows out in the next few weeks. The plan was to do a cut that looks good now and continues to look good as it grows in over time. That part remains to be seen. Overall, I was quite satisfied with the haircut, the service, and the shop. However, if you don't like waiting call to make an appointment. They are professional and friendly. While I was waiting some guy comes in trying to cut the line because he wants a "quick shave" I was impressed that they refused to let him cut even though he seems like he was a regular. I appreciate the way they handled the situation. Although there were only two barbers working the vibe seems to be super chill. I was able to observe several cuts done by each barber and both were highly skilled. Mike gave me a cut and I showed him a pic of what I wanted. He quickly made short work of my disheveled head.
