Since writing my original review, I've moved from Newton to Framingham. I've tried 2 salons near home, and neither did a job anywhere near the quality that Na at V-Luxe does. Na is friendly, funny, and the best nail tech I've found. I can tell her the name of an old polish color I liked, and 100% of the time she's known that color, and found me one just like it. She shapes my nails beautifully, polishes them perfectly, and just does a wonderful job. I've started driving the 35 minutes from Framingham because she's worth it. read more

This is a busy nail salon in Boston. They have plenty of street parking where you can pay. You can easily make a reservation online however they do not pay attention to the reservations made and you still sign in when you arrive. The nail Job was sloppy for myself and my nieces. Their stickers were peeling off their nail art designs within minutes after leaving. If we didn't have other appointments I would have went back for them to fix. They over charged. The prices online were not what was in the shop. They didn't offer anything for us to drink. No real Massage when getting the manicure. The shop was not the cleanest and I had to ask for clean supplies when she started working on my nails. Sanitized products should always be provided with out asking. I kept being asked about mail art but I didn't want any but she asked over 5 times. I wouldn't recommend and when I return I will try another place. I encourage you do the same. read more

This was my first visit and I was there because my regular nail person was in the hospital unexpectantly. I made an appointment for an acryllic fill online with regular polish as they charge more for gel polish. When I checked in, I went to go choose a regular polish and the girl told me they would bring me the choices. I did not realize until paying that they had brought me the Gel choices, therefore had to pay additional. Then the technician told me my acryllic was old and she needed to do a complete new set. I've been having my nails done for years so I argued the point with her and told her I did not want a new set. She finally agreed to do the fill. She did a very nice job on the shape and painting. She was accommodating when I asked her if she could also do a color change on my toes. When I asked her the cost for a simple polish change she told me $22 but because I had closed toe shoes, I really should do gel polish which was an additional $10. I told her I would wait and let them dry so she could do the normal color. I think they are pressured by the management to constantly upsell. This was very evident. If I ever go here again, I will pick my own color and expect to be upsold on services that I do not want. read more

I saw quite a few people recommend this salon on Reddit, so I decided to give it a try. The woman who did my nails was very nice, and I explained to her as simply as possible that i have a nail that had been treated for a split. I pointed it out. I had put it on the intake form when making the appointment. Yet here I am a few hours later with the polish on that toe completely peeled off and the nail an absolute wreck. I booked an appointment at 3:15 for a toenail gel change, when i got there all i needed was gel on 3 toenails bc they had fallen off, the girl at the front desk said they could do that. So i had to wait to be seated for them to start, 35 minutes pass it's already 3:50 when i get taken and i sit down and let the woman know that i only want 3 nails redone and she starts saying they can't do that and that id have to do a full gel redo. I am very, very disappointed in V Lux nails and spa in Newton center. I've been going to the Lux nails every week or every other week for a very long time. Unfortunately, two days ago I had a spa pedicure and manicure. My manicurist announced as I sat down at table for my had another customer waiting. I suggested that she not rush my manicure and that I am a frequent customer. unfortunately, she did rush my manicure, didn't listen to how I wanted my nails filed, I didn't wait the appropriate time in between . Fast-forward to today - two days after my manicure I was in the shower and I noticed that the polish was literally peeling off in the shower. Dazzle is supposed to last a few weeks and cost more than a regular manicure. Since I was in the shower, I very easily rest of the polish without polish got dressed and came to v lux nails and spa in Newton to ask them to polish my nails. I asked for the manager and was told she wasn't there - this was not true. Another person came up, who did not identify herself until after the conversation started as the manager and said what proof did I have that this happened- what proof? The conversation devolved from there.... look, I know this is first world and not to be triggered by her but at a certain point I had to say, are you calling me a liar? I made this up. I'm here every week if not every other week and spend a lot of money each month your she wasn't having it. She wouldn't stop talking at me. This is our policy. How do we know? OK we'll do it this in the future... At that point I said I don't be here. There are three or four of the salons in Newton and I'm sure they will be perfectly fine and will be very happy to take my money every week or every other week. So long story long I never do this. I never write like this, but I couldn't help it this time. While many of the young ladies do a great job I cannot recommend that you frequent this nail salon. I would suggest that you go to Bella nails across the street where the ladies are quite nice and the quality is also good. I'm sorry to have to write a bad review like this, but it really bothers me to be treated like liar over a manicure being corrected really I am still a bit in disbelief. SEE THE PHOTO I POSTED THAT SHOWS THE CONFIRMATION. Took us as a walk in? We clearly said we were there for our appointment. We even checked in on their IPAD at the door. They are such liars. my mom liked her service? Look at her nails and her review which is DIRECTLY under mine. She did not. What she said was she didn't want to have them redone. We just spent hours there having the worst work done of our lives (including getting an infection we discovered later) and she didn't feel like wasting more time there. But you don't have to really believe me. Just look at the photos. Is that good work from a professional? Doesn't matter what excuses they are making up, the photos don't lie. I can do a better job than that. They should be ashamed and I hope they go out of business. I tell everyone I know not to go there. These guys are liars and should be ashamed of themselves. I made things difficult? I guess not wanting my nails to look worse than when I came in means I'm difficult. I was gone for 20 minutes? I had an appointment around the corner, and thought I would try a pedicure here to make my morning easier. I scheduled it online this morning (online scheduling is HUGE!) and arrived about 10 mins early because I left my favorite polish at home and was worried about searching for a match. Checked in online at the door, I found a very close match from the selection of Essie colors, and the nice girl at the desk (maybe the manager?) brought me to a station to soak my cuticles. Rude staff, and ridiculous pricing. I came in with my daughter to get a service that was quite pricey ($60 for tips). I had asked to sit with her so we could chat (anyone with a teen knows any time spent with them talking is precious). There were 3 open nail stations but they said no she had to sit in this one spot which had two other clients right there. I literally had to STAND while she was getting this service done. It was awkward and not necessary. Also, they charged extra money for what they said what taking the gel off but it was already chipped off. They were rude and their customer service was both uncomfortable and awkward. the customers next to my daughter felt bad I could not sit next to her and offered several times to make room so your statement was totally inaccurate. read more

I had a wonderful dip ombré manicure with Vy today! I called and Vy squeezed my appointment in, which was great. I'd never had a dip manicure or nail extensions done before and it came out so well. The staff was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. When I walked in, I was asked what my name was and asked to check in on the iPad. I was immediately seated after checking in. I showed Vy a picture of what I wanted and she gave me exactly what I asked for. Something that also made me feel good was they had several people who were clearly regulars; the staff knew them by name and had a nice relationship with them. To me, that demonstrated that they do quality work if they have folks who keep coming back. I'm super excited about my nails for my wedding this weekend! Went in for a UV gel fil, the woman Jenny doing my nails was done in 15 minutes and completely rushed through doing an absolutely awful job, I was charged 75$ for this fill and she did not take her time, do my cuticles, or use the correct color gel to do my fill. She also convinced me to get a pedicure after where she screamed infront of the whole salon that my toe nail was infected when it was absolutely not. With the pedicure she rushed through, barely scrubbed anything, and no massage at all. With a gel fill and pedicure I was in and out in less than 40 minutes and when you pay a total of $130 dollars for a nail salon experience you want to feel taken care of and pampered, not rushed and embarrassed. Overall awful experience and my nails and and toes dont look anywhere worth that amount of money. UPDATE!! This is in response to the owners reply, thank you for your response, however, the way I feel and my opinion on my personal experience is not up to debate by what you saw on the cameras! I did not tell and lie and yes my nails were $130 with tip and yes everyone getting their toes done around me heard her yell my toenail was "infected" and yes she did not mix the hard UV gel before doing my fill and the gel was clear not rose colored like the bottle was labled, and lastly yes she "took the time" to paint the underneath of my nails becuase I told her I was unhappy with how they looked when she was done. If you personally asked me these questions when you called me several times after leaving my initial review, I would have been more than happy to tell you however instead you just repeatedly asked me to delete my review when I picked up one of the several calls you made to me. I even just added in a few pictures I took minutes after Jenny finished my nails. I think your response to each bad review posted here says everything people should know about your business. I hate to write negative reviews but it is helpful to let people know what to expect and let the business know they need to improve. I have been getting dip french manicures for over 6 years and getting my nails done in general for at least 25 years. I used to go to a salon in Boston where they did a really great job and lasted 3-4weeks. I moved to Brookline recently so I wanted a closer nail salon that I could park at easily. I had hoped V-Luxe would work for me but sadly I think this is the last chance I will give them. I have been to a few different nail techs there now and the nails never last. I barely make it 2 weeks without them breaking and usually they break before 2 weeks. I think they are not using the best quality dip and other products perhaps? I got my nails done Tuesday and they started looking cracked at the tips the next day. Then one broke when I opened my car door Sunday (so 5 days after getting them done) I did not hit my nail hard or anything it broke far too easily. I went back today to get it repaired and now it needed a tip put on. I pointed out it was crooked and of course they act like they can't see it. I didn't have an appointment so it was nice that they took me right away, but they had to have 2 different techs work on my nails. The second tech was able to make the crooked nail look less crooked but she could not fix that the white tip was not as thick to match my other nails. The worst part was the top coat though they are now matte looking and gritty looking not shiny and glossy. When I pointed this out to the tech she just said she doesn't know why that is she doesn't usually do this.... Ok so why not get someone else to fix it??? They obviously don't care. I told her my nails don't look good and I am not happy she didn't care. They charged me $10 for this "repair" where I am happy to not have a broken nail now but my nails don't look good. I am going to have to try another nail salon for future. They do have ease of parking here and can take walk ins fast- but I need my nails to last at least 3 weeks and I want them to look good and I was not able to find that at this salon unfortunately. read more

Please tell your ladies to focus on their job and be better. I've given this place three tries and each time i find less than perfect polish application. This spa was having a special on their spa pedicure the weekday afternoon that I went in, so it was $54 (before tax + tip). That's about the max I would be willing to pay for this quality of pedicure. I likely wouldn't get it at their usual price. The Spa Pedicure essentially means a little extra massage and a spa box add-on that has an exfoliant, a lotion, and a finishing oil of some sort. They also put on the paraffin heel mask. I noticed later that others were being asked about the fragrance they wanted for their spa pedicure box but my nail tech didn't ask me, which is okay. The lady next to me got a different colored box and it pretty much smelled roughly the same as mine. The person who did my pedicure seemed a bit distracted. She did everything included in the spa pedicure - the massage, the leg wrap, and the hot stone - but her attention was taken up by other things happening in the space and she kept looking around and chatting with others. It is a somewhat tight space so it's hard to really relax as people are constantly passing through the corridor in the salon area where they have placed a number of pedicure chairs. It might feel a little better in their separated pedicure room but it seems they don't start taking people there until this row of chairs is filled up first. The massage chairs are good if you're into that. I never used to be interested in the massage chairs until I hit a certain age and my muscles needed some serious kneading. The pedicure itself was fine, it got the job done. In recent years I tend to be moved by the cleanliness of a space. This space did not arouse strong emotions in me either way - It's not great and it's not terrible in that regard. There was nothing egregious (that I observed) about their cleanliness but I would not go here if you're a stickler for clean. So, the search continues for that unicorn nail spa where I can get a good and relaxing pedi - one that is very clean, excellent massage, and not excessive in pricing. This place is good for the basic pedicure in my opinion, which is what I'll stick with here in the future. read more

If there was negative stars, I'd do that. Came in for a gel mani and gel pedi, saw some cool shiny color online and asked for that and was told it's called chrome. No one told me it was extra money, but at check out they swiped my card $30 extra than last time. A whopping $130.00. They charge to take off the gel they put on your nails.. how the heck else do I get it off at home? .. Got my nails done and was rushed out when my meter was up so I was told to wash my hands when I got home and there was chrome all over my cuticles and nails, both hands and toes. Called back got told to come in next day, so I came in at 9am before my work day and no one there could help me because the owner wasn't there and so I was fed up and asked for a refund. Was denied. Called later and was called a liar, that I had called being mad about the price, I mean who wouldn't be after seeing the terrible work? but no my concern is with the quality of work, paint on my cuticles and toes and hands as well as being able to see every thick brush stroke and where glitter was being pressed in and the fact that no one could tell me before I asked for a nail color that it would be more. Be clear. But no worries. Won't be back! Added: Gottttt to love the below that was added by the owner. so no one ever asked me to help put money in the meter and no one said the job wasn't done. The chrome powder on my hands I was told to wash off and that all would be good. Why would I ever go back to a salon that called me a liar and hung up on me? I found this place on yelp. I've been looking for a nail spot for the last 5 months. I've been going to various places in Boston to get my nails done and when I say various places, I mean only 3 places. Each experience was different. If I didn't write a review, it was because my experience was subpar. I have yet to find someone that match my guy Vinny from Cali. Anyway, I needed to get my nails done, (I needed a refill and wanted a new color on my short set) went on Yelp, read reviews and looked at pictures. You know the pictures are important. I said ok. Went on their website and made an appointment with Len. Keep in mind, I didn't see any nail pictures posted on Yelp that was done by Len. I just decided to select the last person on the schedule list when I made my appointment on their website. Missed my appointment but they were able to reschedule me the next day. Before, I continue my review, let me just say this. We all have different tastes and like things done certain ways. And that's A-Okay. SOME (I capitalized some for some people that will miss this word) folks reaction to certain services not going their way be overboard sometimes, especially with the long ass negative reviews on here. Just don't forget to write about how you was a POS customer as well. Everyone experience is different, just don't be a POS about it. Anyway, back to my review. I went to get my nails done on 2/18 and when I walked in, the nail techs greeted me and told me to check in. I did. I picked my nail color and Len did my nails.
