I hate getting my hair cut, but it is like the dentist. Eventually you must go. I was running errands along the Danforth and I happened to pop in this salon. I asked if they'd take me as a walk in and offered up a challenge - my insane mane. Anna accepted. She cut my hair so quickly and did an amazing job. No lie - I had some random dude on the escalator at Broadview Station stop me and tell me he thinks my haircut is great. I have been going to this salon for almost 3 years to get my usually once a week blow dry done. I love to see Shirin she always dose such a beautiful blow dry with lots of volume and curled ends that tends to stay for 3 days without getting oily. They use quality products for hair care and I have seen them cut kids hair well too. read more

Our experience at this salon was so horrific that it motivates me to write the first online review of my life. If there was a way to give zero or negative stars in a review, the stylist we had at this salon would deserve it. I should have paid closer attention to the review of Mary H. as the exact same thing had apparently happened to her daughter earlier. The stylist did the exact OPPOSITE of what we asked. We came in with our 14-year old who is a recent cancer survivor and just had a few inches of hair grow back in after completing chemotherapy. We explicitly requested to only slightly trim the sides and to not shorten the hair on top of his head. After losing all hair during chemo our boy is emotionally very attached to his regrowth. The stylist (a small brown lady whose name I don't remember) CUT OFF ALL the hair on top, although our boy repeatedly said it's enough. I did not think I would ever use the word horror in the context of hair cuts, but our experience was truly traumatic. We should have been skeptical when we could get an appointment on the spot while most salons on the Danforth are booked days or even weeks in advance. We thought what we wanted was simple enough that not much could go wrong (don't touch the top, slightly trim the sides), but we were wrong. Worst. Salon. Ever. I bought a Groupon for Shellac Manicure and Pedicure. Got there on Friday afternoon and the only four people there were staff. No one said anything to me for at least 4 minutes. Generally that doesn't sound like a lot of time but when standing in front of the owner and all eyes are on you- feels like a very long time. Finally the owner behind the "reception" desk said my name. Not hello, not welcome, not can i take your coat? Next up, met the manicurist. She was polite and brought me to the dungeon of lilac and dirt for the pedicure. 1.5 hours this ped took. There was no massage and no dead skin scrub. Just oodles of time putting on the nail polish. The room was dirty, i texted my sister at that point and told her not to come in. I should have listened to her and ran. While downstairs the manicurist told me she had been there 5 weeks and just finished school. She said she got "lucky" and was hired because the owner said she was desperate. This owner didn't give a rat's butt who did the nails, just that the money was already in the bank via Groupon. She was simply looking for a quick buck. Last I looked the business was on mls. Then came the manicure. Again, painfully slow. But not because she was spending time doing what normally happens. She didn't soak or touch my cuticles or massage my hands. Which i know can be done after the Shellac is finished. Just the polish, which took over an hour. Meanwhile, the other three staff sat in their salon chairs reading books and passing racial slurs back and forth. Nice. I was there for almost three hours and not one other customer came in. I watched the owner have her hair washed then she cut it and dried it for her night out- which was planned on the phone. The environment couldn't have been less professional. After my manicure, she sprayed the utensils with rubbing alcohol. It was then , I realized with horror that they didn't have one of those machines to sterilize the tools. The worst part is that both the manicure and pedicure look awful. I would post pics if i could. The side of my nails are bare, it is not smooth, the edges weren't wrapped, the polish is completely uneven, my toe nails are all crooked and four days later it is chipping. Even my husband who doesn't know what it "should" look like could tell instantly it was a horrible job. Never again. read more

I really liked getting my hair cut by the guy here... but the woman dyed my hair and now I hate the place. I came in wanting to go blonde - the lady was super unclear, overcharged me, tried to convince me not to go blonde, and gave me very light ashy blonde highlights on my dark brown hair that made me look like I was going gray. read more

Owner unfriendly, haircut was the worst I've ever received. I went in for a basic trim, and now it looks like she chopped chunks out of my hair, and the bangs are very obviously uneven. Called the owner, who couldn't have sounded less interested. Went there through Groupon, who were nice enough to refund my money. Now I will have to go somewhere else and will have to lose more hair to have it fixed. And to the person under filtered reviews who said that some of us were lying, you are entitled to your opinion, and I am entitled to mine. I'm very glad you have gotten good service, but my review is a completely honest account of my experience, and it would be nice if my comments were respected. Got my haircut done via a Groupon Now. Deal didn't include blowdry but that wasn't a problem. The haircut was pretty good, with the exception that the shape is a little triangular for my curly hair, however I did ask her to only take a little off. The hairdresser worked quick and was pretty easy to chat with and nice. In relation to other peoples comments about the dirt or poor service, I didn't experience that trouble. I went in for a shellac manicure/pedicure via teambuy and have to say that it was pretty awful! the girl doing it seemed very unhappy, the basement was dirty and depressing, the nail polish didn't go on evenly and looks terrible, one of my fingernails is totally crooked! she didn't clean my cuticles at all, no massage, nothing. it was terrible, I will be contacting Teambuy to get a refund for my remaining 2 vouchers. read more

I should have read the reviews about this place before getting my Shellac Mani/Pedi. a) Staff tries to be friendly but you can tell it's only because they have to be b) Dry shellace mani/pedi is a bunch of bull**** because other salons still soak your hands and feet prior to applying ANY type of polish c) shellac wore off in 4 days - should NEVER be the case d) esthetician took a long time - oh by the way, there's only one in case you thought you could bring or book a friend e) nails were not even properly cleaned...including the underside!!! wow, the only reason why i can give this place a one start is because they somehow redeemed themselves after i complained. definitely would not go there ever again! read more

I 'm a regular client that comes to Vaffi and I must say that the prices are alright and the service is ok...to be honest I lived in the area and it has been quite convenient. However, the boss Anna is one of the most miserable woman I have ever met in my life...from our shallow celeb dissing conversations to her rude remarks, a the way I see her treat her staff is a bad display of any business that is intending to excel. Other than that the staff that work there seem unhappy working for her. I see them sweeping her station and have never even heard her give them a thank you or slight positive gesture. If you want good service I do admit the color is decent, cuts horrible....but if you want to be around negativity I give it a 10! other than that I'm looking for a new salon at this time. read more

What a wonderful salon! I have been here twice now and will regularly be going back to this salon. Ask for Shirin, she is a very talented hairstylist. I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair before. I was just there on Saturday, wash, cut, deep conditioning treatment and style, all in 45minutes. This girl is good! My hair has never felt so soft before. I have very dry hair and now is as soft as baby's hair. It's close by the Pape subway station which is very convenient. I'm looking forward to my next visit! I'm on a yelp kick commenting on all the great services I receive in T.O. and Vaffi Salon is one of them. I have been a loyal customer for many years because Anna and her staff have been loyal to me too. Always trying to accommodate my schedule as I do shift work. When I lived away I would still commute in to get my haircut with Anna because she "GETS IT". An inch is really a real inch... not 2.5 inches. She is a perfectionist when it comes to colour as is Sherin and Talesha gives the best head massages during shampoos. My daughter tried this salon out last week and to her horror what she was requesting the hair dresser did the total opposite, insisting she cut off what she thinks might look good - my daughter's hair grows in very slowly and to have it ALL CUT OFF with uneven cut hair was absolutely horrifying! not to mention she got her hair caught in the brush and couldn't untangle it and decided she'd cut it all - WTF! in case you do go she's some brown stupid excuse of a hairdresser who should not be employed at Vaffi's at all - the owner was very sympathetic and didn't charge my daughter, but that's not the issue, this person needs to be fired! Do not go here unless you want a very bad haircut, provided by a person who is semi-conscious yet also somehow in a rush. After washing my hair for 5 seconds, the stylist led me to the chair with my hair dripping wet. She hacked away briefly, then gave me a "glamorous look" (her words) with three round brushes that she heated up with an extra-hot blow drier, and left hanging from my head. One of them burnt my face, and I could hear my hair ripping when she pulled them out. When it didn't turn out very well, she stood back frowning and looking confused. Then she sent me to the front to pay. It was $50. I told them I had just asked for a trim, and they said that a trim was a wash, cut and blowdry. Touche? read more

Worst haircut ever! She took off about 4 inches in about five minutes (I asked for 2 inches) ... and it's crooked so it's only going to get shorter. There are no layers so my hair sticks out like a triangle. For someone with evidently little experience cutting hair, she really should slow down and pay attention.
