This business was marked closed and it certainly isn't. I just purchased a top there as of a week or two ago and actually have been in since, since I love what they stock so much! Such a nice selection of goods - ranging in price to meet the needs of different budgets. I am a fan of Uzi and Black Crane - and they have a nice selection of these brands from what I have seen, but I have also discovered other brands and makers from across the globe that have awesome stuff. Their hours are not abundant (likely due to a covid still) but they are certainly open most days. When in doubt, call ahead. They are usually open after noon. It's a great shop and a wonderful part of Old City that I would highly recommend! Check it out if you haven't yet. read more

Oh-la-la-la-la! What a perfect little boutique. I'll take one of everything PUHLEEZE. This store carries some seriously amazing independent small designers such as Ilana Kohn and Black Crane. I love the minimalism and attention to textures, color palettes and styles. I truly wanted one of everything. My only recommendation is to offer a few more price points. Everything in the shop was finely made and priced correctly, but it would be nice to have a few options of smaller little gifts or trinkets. read more

In a world where two fashion-loving ladies are walking around town on a cold, monsoon-like day, hitting up the shops on 3rd Street like there's no such thing as a budget, you'd think that there'd be a little love to spread around. Well, the shop owners of all the other places we went to that day had no problem being, well, HUMAN to us. In fact, everywhere else we went (Smak Parlour, Topstitch, Sugarcube, Lost and Found and Tony just to name a few) were downright lovely. Girl crushes were developed. Some serious cash was dropped. But we were almost tempted to pee on the front doorstep of Vagabond, because the customer service - no, wait - total LACK of said service, wasn't just lacking, it was completely offensive and stupid. There, I said it. The way we were treated here was stupid. I hate to give bad reviews. For reals. In fact, unless I have such a shitty experience somewhere I can usually find the good in any situation. But this was crazytown. Nobody else was in the store. No eye contact was made (except as we were leaving 10 minutes later - we got the eye roll). Lady behind the counter never stood up or stopped with the chitty chat on the phone long enough to see if we needed anything. And we did, actually. We needed to spend some money and buy a bunch of overpriced clothes (don't fret...we accomplished that other places in the neighborhood that day at stores that actually appreciated our business). Did I greatly admire this place before yesterday? Yes. Do I covet 99% of the gorgeous clothing in there? Yes. Have I even covered it in articles I've written? Again, yes. Really? Really. So yesterday, I was reminded of one of my ultimate pet peeves when it comes to the world of retail and public interaction. I like to call it the "Rude and Aloof Bitch Behind the Counter Syndrome." I'm sure you or someone you know has fallen victim to this awful syndrome at some point in your/their life and as you probably already are aware, there are only a few ways to cure it...but those might get your thrown in jail or asking yourself, "Is Stephy S gonna have to smack a bitch?!?!" Ugh. So here's what happened. My friend and I were out boutique hopping on 3rd Street and I was definitely scoring in the finds department. In fact, much to my bank account's dismay, the white bag that held my purchases from the first boutique was rapidly filling up and actually bursting at the seems. I note that, because if you owned a very expensive boutique and you saw a girl walk in who looked like she was on a mission to clean out the Philly fashion scene, wouldn't you, oh I dunno, say hello when she walked in? Newp. Well you would at least get off the phone, especially since you're clearly on a personal call and yapping about nonsense, right? Newp. Well after 5 minutes in the store, you'd maybe think, "Hmmm, these are customers and this store is my livlihood and since I am one of the owners, I should probably tell whoever I'm yapping to that I will call them back" and then smile and say, "So sorry about that, can I help you with anything?" Again, NEWP. And of course, when we left, you'd at the very least smile and say something like "goodbye" or "thanks for coming," right? Look at the star rating and take a guess. And so after 5.49 minutes of looking at wildly over-priced clothing, but actually considering buying 4 pairs of tights (hear that chick, Pretty Woman was actually there to buy something!)...we left...pissed and cursing this woman's name and ripping her a new one as we proceeded to spend $500 at the next boutique. Seriously, eff this store and the little snot who was way too self important to get off the phone and actually make a customer feel welcome. I hope your Vagabond title becomes your rightfully deserved reality. read more

I bought a cute black dress here for $60 that retailed for $77. That made me feel good enough to rate this place 3 stars. One of the owners of the store was working and true to what has been yelped about this place, she was on the phone the whole time and completely ignored me. I definately could have just walked out with some clothes that I had tried on and she wouldn't even have noticed that I was there. (Not that Im a shoplifter, just trying to get my point across.) Anyhoot 0% service, unless you count the woman behind the counter swiping your credit card. Cute clothes/shoes to browse, although the lighting in there is really dim. Vagabond is one of the hippest, most fashion forward stores that Philly has to offer. And, not everyone knows that the owner Megan is a huge vintage-aholic! Hence, why the back room of the store is literally stocked with vintage finds. Megan and her friend Erin stock the back with vintage gems. Erin also moonlights as an Urban Outfitters vintage source... So you might as well pay a fraction of the cost and buy the vintage piece at Vagabond rather than spending an arm and a leg on a cheap knock off from Urban! M & E specialize in vintage with a bohemian flair. Expect to find lots of neutrals, knitwear, leather bags and shoes/boots, and boho meets western vintage finds. And, though everything in the front of the house is usually pricey (Hey, what do you expect from something special and cute that's NOT made in China?!), you can count on the vintage in the back being dirt cheap. If you are a girl who likes vintage and you don't go to Vagabond, you are missing out my friend. read more

The thing I appreciate most about Vagabond is the full-spectrum approach they take to pricing. Unlike most Philadelphia indie boutiques that hover exclusively in one price range (cheap, $20-80 per item; moderate, $80-250; expensive, $300+ for a wardrobe piece like a dress, jacket, pant, etc.), Vagabond mixes it up with clean, contemporary women's wear affordable for more than just Real Housewife-esque shoppers. The front table always has the newsiest bits and features shoes I lust after but can't strictly afford. Moving towards the back of the shop generally means prices lessen, with the sale and vintage racks just afore the dressing rooms. Vintage and new shoes, funky leather handbags, trendy jewelry and scarves that look straight from some foreign bazaar are mixed in throughout -- it takes me a while to really look at everything. I like to come in here regularly and look at every single item -- there are great deals to be had for the sharp-eyed who crave youthful, but not childish, fashion. read more

I really don't get why this store is getting such bad reviews. It's a great boutique that sells old and new, with a craft section in the back. I think that's quite interesting, but that's already been said and besides the point. What makes me LOVE Vagabond is that I ALWAYS find something there I want. They have a range of prices: from reasonable to god expensive, and great brands. Amazing unique jewelry designers as well. I love the clothes, hate the price! I try to shop on the sale rack only... not because I am cheap or anything, but because the value of the clothes does not always meet the price tag. I do love the clothes though!! they have some really cute sweaters and dresses. they also have a vintage rack, but I haven't had much luck with it. Love this pretty boutique in Old City! I dropped by with a friend to browse and ended up with a lacy tank perfect for layering. The tank itself was very affordable but I did notice some higher-priced items as well. Like many of the other boutiques in Old City, it's a mix which is good for everyone. The ladies working were super friendly and it was an overall pleasant experience. I'll return next time I'm strolling the shops. read more

I may live in DC, but I'm a PA girl at heart, and now that I realize I never really gave Philly a chance, I have decided to make it a ritual to take a solo trip into the city whenever I find myself back home. The first trip was just December 2007. After taking in my favorite Mancinis and Degas at the Philadelphia Museum of Art , I decided to take a drive into Olde City. It was Sunday and sleeting, so I parked my car on S 3rd next to an out of order meter and found shelter up the street inside Vagabond, the chic boutique attributed with reviving Olde City's fashion scene. Although I would say that a lot of the clothes were just not my style, simply because I'm not really one for big chunky sweaters, Vagabond does have some seriously cool stuff. I picked up a pair of red skinny jeans by Blank, a gorgeous pink printed silk dress from Twinkle by Wenlan NY, and a cute little one-of-a-kind owl necklace. Although the prices can be a little steep, the owners are dolls and items may be discounted if you're lucky. Vagabond is a yarn shop, a local art gallery, a vintage shop, a craft vendor, and good solid fashion all rolled into one. I'm loving Vagabond for its original pieces, interesting vintage, artsy vibe, and chill attitude. I'm hooked, and I can't wait to go back. read more

This store has some cute cloths. It has a mix of new items and vintage stuff. I just found a new fun and colorful dress that I love, as well as scored a nice and inexpensive pair of vintage leather boots. There seems to be a wide price range - some stuff are pretty pricey while some stuff (mostly the vintage stuff) are pretty affordable. I do agree with the prior reviews that the customer service leaves much to be desired. I was there slowly perusing for at least 20 minutes (this was my first time in the store). I also was in the dressing room for a good 10 minutes. At no time did the girl at the front desk say hi or approach me to see how I was doing - which is a bit atypical for a small boutique. I'll probably visit the store again, but definitely won't expect much from the service. read more

I really love the staff at this store, and the clothing is beautifully made. If I could afford it, I would buy a whole wardrobe here. the styles are really original, but wearable too. The vintage section in the back has some cool finds in it as well. As for the yarn, well, there isn't much, and it is weirdly organized - so if you are looking for a huge selection, this is not your store. However, they do have some hard to find yarns at reasonable prices, so it may be worth the trip. Notably, there are the 100 something yard skeins of manos for $13, really nice lace weight yarns, and a bunch of nice, soft, chunky wools. I like this place. I keep going back to look, and maybe one day I will actually buy something there, but for now, it remains one of my favorite lunchtime browsing experiences. read more

Beautiful merchandise and lovely aesthetic. However, bizarre, off-putting experience here. The one time I was able to shop in the store, I was in there for 10 mins browsing with not one sales associate acknowledging me, but stopped to talk to others. One even brushed up on me to return clothing on the rack I was perusing and didn't excuse herself. Another time, I entered and the associate behind the register said she was going on a break and needed to lock up. The other 2 times, they were closed during business hours! Visiting from NYC..this store is a must for shopping in all of Philly. It is gigantic...I felt like I got lost in the new and vintage duds in here for two hours. Didn't buy anything though. Vagabond is a wonderfully unique, eclectic and edgy collection - calling it a boutique does not do justice to the range of items displayed within. The entire store is an assembly of contemporary designers and vintage pieces, with everything from clothing and shoes to accessories, jewelry, books, and a large selection of yarn in back. And as previously mentioned, the prices range pretty dramatically so you may find yourself coveting a $20 dress and a $200 scarf at the same time. Most of the styles they stock can't be found in the other Old City boutiques - although there is a little overlap at times, I have noticed the same dress or two here and at Lost + Found. Staff here seem friendly, although my interactions with them have been minimal. They will help you while trying things on, and are also content to leave you alone while you peruse the many racks. And for the poor guys who follow their girlfriends inside, they have a few places to sit and chill. read more

My sister was greeted when she first came in with me but it was a little hard to tell who was working here and who was shopping here. I think because the ratio of workers to customers was 1:1. That said I was on the hunt for some cool boutique stores in Philly. After walking over from Penn, I was looking forward to stopping here. I've been a moody shopper and so when sis and I visited last weekend, I thought the prices were expensive for things that didn't seem super special. I did like a dress that was on sale, but for some linen, $70 seemed hefty. In the jewelry case, I found a couple of eye catching pieces, some on sale as well, but ultimately, while I love the decor and the concept, I didn't purchase any of the expensive stuff. read more

Very cute. atmosphere is absolutely adorable. The clothing has a good variance of price (I saw dresses there from $40 to $250^). they have a cute little selection of vintage in the back part as well. I only had two tiny little complaints. one is really not a complaint, I just noticed that I was not greeted or talked to at all by either of the girls working (even though I was trying on a number of things) and the fitting room curtains were difficult to keep covering the door, and I felt like I was going to be exposed at any moment. I generally don't mind if people don't greet me or talk to me, but I could have used other sizes and had they asked or talked to me I might have stuck around to find something that actually fits. other than that it really was charming and a great selection of clothing! read more

I found myself going back to Vagabond again and again when I needed something particular like a dress for an occasion or jacket or sweater or whatever. just to find something not everyone has already from h&m or urban. now i'm in there every chance i've got! some of the prices range super high but not everything is pricey. they have cheaper stuff in the back that's more "vintage" too and an awesome sale rack! i never go in there with out buying something. p.s all the employees there are super helpful read more

I say a negative 5 stars even though i've been shopping here for years. I'm a crazy shopaholic- lived in this city forever. I used to work in Old City a long time ago and have been shopping at Vagabond since. I'm not sure when it exactly opened but between yarn, vintage, and clothes, I've dropped serious cash over the years. Well, a few weeks ago I bought a pair of Swedish Hasbeens and got home to realize the heel had a dent/chip in it. Being that they are wooden shoes---this chip would only get worse so I call right away and let them know. One of the girls that works there says they don't have another pair but said to bring them back when the owner is there the next morning and see about ordering another pair. I take them back the next day because I can't keep defective $200 clogs. The one owner seems fine-refunds me instead of store credit ( I didn't ask for either-she willingly returns them but I didn't care one way or another since I shop there a lot.) and says yes, she'll special order me another pair (a different style-Sven). 4 weeks go by and NO ONE contacts me so I happen to call and ask if they came in--yes they did. I go to the store to try them on, and they don't fit (they are not super expensive-Svens are around $150). I felt bad about the size being wrong and apologized and asked if they could order the next size down. Another 2.5 weeks go by---no call. I happen to be wandering through Old City yesterday and buy a t shirt there and ask if they can still get those clogs because the first were BIG (no, we can't get them-fine) ---I buy a $44 dollar t shirt, get home and what do you know--- there's a tiny hole in it. (are you kidding me-worst luck lately) So I go back today--not wanting to return it but exchange it. The same owner was there--door open around 11:10--I go in and I'm like hey this shirt you sold me has a hole in it that I bought last night. Here's where it gets weird.......She proceeds to ream me out, "I would appreciate it if you STOP shopping here. The other owner told me not to sell you anything because we ordered you clogs (she never told me it was a big deal to order them) and you didn't buy them and now, you are returning this shirt, you always return EVERYTHING-you returned 2 pairs of shoes." (uhmm no, 1 pair---this is the same owner that refunded me when I didn't even request it). I respond-"I'm not returning this shirt; I would like another". So she walks over grabs one and throws it in the bag--practically throwing it at me. I respond, "I'm sorry but I can't magically make my feet grow" and if it was that big of a deal, you shouldn't have ordered them for me because I told them in the store that I'm not sure what size I am in SVEN's. OMG, she proceeded to shout at me in front of others (her family I think-children were there) She says, "We're not even open yet and you're returning this shirt", even though the door was open past 11. Her sign outside says 11 and why is the door open if they're not OPEN?! She responds with, "Please don't come back here." My response: "Unbelievable--someone else walked in as I was leaving to see the spectacle. You bet I won't be back. In all the years of shopping there (I'm talking years), I've dropped so much cash. In the grand scheme of things, I didn't fit in 1 pair of shoes, and you sold me a shirt last night with a hole in it. It's the next morning that I'm returning it because I can't wear it, and you're screaming at me. The funny thing is I have bought shorts, yarn, 3 summer woven purses in the past 2 months there--(yet I return everything) I think I was even wearing cutoffs I bought from this store while being reamed out by this woman. It's not MY fault if something has a DEFECT. Can we say CRAZYYYYYY! I'm not taking chipped $200 shoes home and keeping them nor am I paying for ones that don't fit. You should think of all the other future items I would have bought, and you're annoyed over 1 pair of $150 shoes. They weren't $400 Rachel Comey ones. I'll gladly give Arcadia, 3rd Street Habit, Urban and Anthropologie my money next time and stick to the other yarn stores. I've already told all of my Philly/NYC friends about this. I felt like I was in a scene from mean girls. The two ladies working at the store couldn't have been more rude and judgey. Sorry but I shouldn't feel like I just walked into a party I wasn't invited to when going shopping with my money! No one offered to help and while some of the selection was nice, everything seemed to be way overpriced. I also bought a shirt that was on sale that was CLEARLY marked up before marking down. Literally it had $89 scribbled out followed by $110 & 40% off. If you're going to rip people off at least be nice. read more

For Philly, this is a good boutique. I would rate the merchandise at 4 stars. They lose two for customer service. I have been in Vagabond several times and no matter how the sale reps are treated by me (I've done friendly and chatty; I've done indifferent and borderline rude), I get the same cold, dead response. If it's a sales tactic, it sucks. Will you be my friend if I buy this black crane dress? No? What if I add a Kathleen Whittaker earring? No?! I'll buy a pair!!!! Please smile!!!! This store is hands down my favorite place to shop in Old City. The clothing is beautiful, and the way that it is arranged maximizes the appeal. I am a big fan of the vintage section in the back of the store. The selection is top notch and well priced. I have found the service there to be exactly how I like it. The sales girls give you a few moments to browse, ask if you need some help, and then leave you alone to do your shopping. I have encountered rude sales people and the sales girls here do not fit the bill. It's the perfect mix of vintage and modern. If I could arrange it, this store would be my walk in closet. read more

This is a little boutique for modern women's wear that has a bit more of an earthy tone. I'm giving it 2 stars because the staff was neither welcoming or helpful. I suppose I didn't look like there typical customer but I scored big in there sale section that had mostly larger sizes (as is size 8-10). As I checked out I made a little joke about this observation to only be I ignored my the two sales associates behind the counter; I assumed maybe they were just hungry. I've been shopping at Vagabond for about 9 years and it has remained one of my most cherished shops. I travel a lot and between the US and Europe, I'd rather go on sprees at Vagabond than anywhere else.
