Great service from the moment you enter the door. Greeted immediately & sat within minutes. Mind you we arrived at 5, so if you don't like long wait times, maybe don't wait until prime time on a weekend The pizza flavor was delicious and unique. You can tell there's something super special and quality about the sauce. The crust was very good but the base was very soggy which for *me* doesn't work as I live for crispy crust throughout. The pizzas are all bougie type concoctions. No regular pepperoni and cheese which makes it unique. So we ordered the margarita(sp?) and I asked for pepperoni to be added, to which my server kindly said that they had a fabulous Genoa Salami (or something like that) which tasted like pepperoni. Okerrrr. Let's do it! Anyhoo- the "salami" was pretty spicy which I wasn't expecting so I had to blow my nose and go to the ladies. There's only a single restroom which was of course occupied as I waited with my nose dripping. Once free the restroom was VERY nice and classy. They even had hair ties and Bobby pins in case you are on a date and you know... need to style her up. Would I come again? Probably for the ambiance, quality, and craft beer & wine selection. I think this is the only spot that had Stone IPA so that reminded me of home and earned points in my book for sure. I may crave that sauce. Actually they really should jar it up, because I'd buy the shit out of it (and make my own pizza) or use it for pasta. Would I return for pizza specifically? Probably not. We were able to sit at the bar by the ovens cus my 5 year old wanted to see them make the pizzas and it was a wait for a table. We've eaten here multiple times. The service is always good. The greeter is very friendly. The atmosphere is trendy with a cool rustic but modern feel. You can see the wood fired oven from the tables. The bread with basil butter is incredible. The pizza crust is fantastic. The fresh mozzarella is very good. Each pizza will feed 1 hungry person or 2 people who just want 2-3 slices. My only suggestion is for more topping options such as chicken for protein and/or Hatch green chiles. I tried the Arabella with ground beef and poblano peppers last time, and it was pretty bland. We've been to Italy and eaten lots of pizza there like the margherita. But sometimes you want a little more substance. But very cool that Abilene has something with a modern look and good food. Just wish there were a few more options on the menu. read more

Great food!! I truly love their pizza. But the male owner is a pompous jerk. I've never met someone with a more grandiose attitude/personality. I guess I haven't met enough chefs maybe? His food is the best of the best and if you don't think so then you're an idiot- his words. A few years ago, I was at a private party here for one of my friend's birthdays, and they refused to allow our friends to take the extra pizza that THEY PAID FOR home with them. Vagabond Pizza was a local food truck here in Abilene that garnered such a faithful following that it just made sense for them to open a B&M spot. They chose a spot downtown in a very popular area. I believe it has paid off. They stay very busy during the weekday lunch hour. This review is based on that location after several visits. Atmosphere: Such a great little spot downtown. Parking can be quite difficult at times but is something all downtown spots suffer from, not just Vagabond. Walls are brick and cement done in a very rustic, yet recently popular manner. Tables are large enough for small groups but they tend to be very close to each other, most likely to be able to fit more people into a small space. If u r a gossip columnist then this is definitely the place to be. U should have heard what John and Janie did last weekend! Scandalous! A classy and stylish bar dominates the left side of the restaurant and always appears to be a popular spot. I have heard stories that they have some of the best local and craft beer selections around. 1 Star Service: Always very nice. Occasionally slow to initialize service once u sit down but the happy demeanor makes up for it. I'll talk about the one thorn in my side while we are still here in the service category. The lack of drink options. PLENTY of alcoholic beverages, which I am told are very good, and truthfully what is supposed to go better with pizza than BEER? Well, I am here to tell u what does; Coke, that's what!!! The only soft drinks u can order here are craft style sodas. Fine and dandy if u also sip champagne when u eat hot wings, but for me, I'd take a diet Dr. Pepper with my pizza please. Which reminds me, if u r eating low carb/keto/paleo, you're only option is water because there are no diet drinks at all. But then again why would u be at a pizza place if u are on a low carb diet, right? 1.5 Stars Food: As far as taste goes, these pizzas are hard to beat. One could wish for more toppings for sure, but what few toppings do make it onto the pizza are fresh and tasty. The menu is a bit scant (typically 8 pizzas with an occasional special) but each of the artisan style pizzas has a combination of ingredients that go very well together. For example, the "Sofia," which I would surmise would be named after the spicy little Italian actress if only it was spelled the same, is my favorite and it consists of Italian sausage, piquillo peppers, mozzarella, and a marinara. As far as starters go, the bread and butter are quite good, as are the meatballs and the caprese. 1.5 Stars Summary: Great little place to eat pizza. As I stated before, I have been here several times, so that should tell u something. I just make sure to drink a Coke before going in. ------------------------ My rating system: Up to 1 star for atmosphere (Let's face it, I could eat Franklin BBQ on a dirty napkin while sitting in the bed of my truck.) Up to 2 stars apiece for both food and service (these are the two things that will either drive me away or reel me back in) 1 Star-Wouldn't let my dog eat here 2 Star-Below average-usually something really struck me as being bad and I doubt I would ever return. 3 Star-Average-Might come back. This place is terrific! The family loves the sodas and the pizza. In fact, I don't think we've had a any pie we didn't love here. We've had 4 different types. My oldest came with me to visit his brother at university and always wants to come back for another visit with a stop here. The atmosphere is fantastic and the food is delicious. The last time we came fairly late to the lunch time and they still took care of us and my brother who showed up 20 min later to join us and just sit. One of the best pizza parlors I've been to. We had the Lucia, Rosalyn, Dolly, arabella. The Lucia (jalepeno jelly) was probably the best one. The jalepeno jelly was delicious and not spicy. The Dolly ( Tabasco chicken fired quail) was very good and sweet. The Arabella kinda tasted like a ravioli pizza, and the Rosalyn was similar to a basic sausage pizza with mushrooms.
