The employee immediately started barking orders at me and other customers ("go inside," "fill out this form," "put it on your dash," "leave your car running"), and seemed visibly stressed and frustrated the entire time. He also repeatedly directed customers to walk through the active shop area, which felt unsafe. Customers were being told to navigate around equipment and tire rollers used for smog testing that were on the ground, creating an uneven and cluttered walking path. It seemed like an unnecessary trip-and-fall hazard. After waiting about 10 minutes, I returned thinking my car was finished and tried to mention that I had a coupon. Before I could even explain, he snapped at me to "GO WRITE IT ON THE CLIPBOARD IN YOUR CAR." When I tried to clarify because I thought he already had my paperwork, he interrupted me again and said, "I HAVE A LOT OF CUSTOMERS TO TAKE CARE OF." Later he called out "Highlander!" and when I again mentioned the coupon, he barked, "SAVE IT AND YOU'LL SAVE $35 -- simple math." I had no idea what that meant because no one had explained anything. Then he handed me paperwork and told me to "drive it around and bring it back." He never explained that my car hadn't failed due to a mechanical issue -- it simply needed to complete a drive cycle so a sensor could reset. When I asked if the car passed, he aggressively responded, "NO! DO YOU WANT ME TO SHOW YOU?? HERE, I'LL HIGHLIGHT IT FOR YOU!" and literally snatched the paperwork out of my hands. When I asked why it didn't pass, he just kept yelling "JUST DRIVE IT AROUND AND BRING IT BACK." I eventually took my car to my regular mechanic (who doesn't do smog checks), and within seconds he calmly explained what Clean Air Smog should have told me in the first place: I simply needed to drive on the freeway at around 65 mph for several minutes to activate a sensor. That basic explanation would have solved everything and avoided this entire interaction. Instead, I was met with poor communication, aggressive behavior, and an unnecessarily antagonistic attitude. To make matters worse, I was charged $91.75 instead of the advertised discounted price of $56.75. I'll be disputing the charge with my credit card company. There are plenty of smog shops in San Francisco -- I'd strongly recommend going somewhere else.

My partner found them on yelp and with nearly 5 stars, I decided to give them a call. They had the window I needed on hand and could replace it that morning, they work by first come - first serve. I went down there right away and within a few minutes turned over my keys for the repair. They quoted me $155 (out of pocket, without insurance), which sounded fair and honestly unbelievable at first for SF, but I went with it. My sister picked me up from the shop during the install and when she dropped me off she mentioned that she needed her windshield replaced. She got a quote, processed through insurance and replaced the next day. When I get to my car, they had cleaned all of the glass from the seats, cupholders and carpet. They restored my car back and honestly made my crappy day better, quickly. This is not my first window replacement, unfortunately... I have had it happen a few times before, but now I will always call and recommend In & Out Auto Glass. Not only are they the best deal in town for window replacement (insurance or without), but they are fast and will get you back in your wheels again.

I was told OEM brakes would be installed so they would be quiet. The invoice did not identify the brake-pad or rotor brand/part numbers, and the noise never went away. When I returned for what I understood to be a warranty inspection, the mechanic did hear and acknowledge the noise. I also approved replacement of both front lower control arms and bushings, plus an alignment--about $2,400 total--after they recommended the work. The repair experience was incredibly poorly managed. I was told the job would take about four hours and expected the car back by end of day. Instead, I arrived to pick it up and the shop initially could not locate my car; after several minutes, I was told it had been moved to a sister shop and would not be ready until the next day. No one proactively called or texted me about this change, despite me clearly explaining that I needed the car back. I had to cancel a doctor's appointment in the East Bay because of the delay. The only remaining item was an OEM skid plate they were waiting on from the dealer, and I repeatedly offered to come back for that separately so they could return my car. Communication remained inconsistent, with multiple promised updates and ETAs missed without any outreach. They gave me a discount for the delay, which I appreciated. But I later discovered they had still charged me for the brake inspection, despite the visit being for a persistent noise following their own brake work and being presented as a warranty follow-up. They acknowledged the charge was a mistake and said a district manager was processing a refund. It has now been one month, and I still have not received it or a clear resolution. Worst of all, the original grinding/scraping noise is still present exactly as it was before I brought the car in and spent roughly $2,000. I understand that repair shops get busy and parts can be delayed. What I cannot accept is repeated missed promises, moving a customer's car off-site without notice, weeks of unresolved billing, and a brake-noise concern that remains unresolved after all of this. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
