Had a good experience at this location. Hugo was super professional even when I balked initially at the $150 or so cost of the oil change which I later found out is very normal these days. I am old enough to remember the $29 oil changes and have since those days leased my cars where I don't have to think of the cost so had no idea. Again Hugo was very willing to explain everything which I appreciated. In and out of there in about 30 minutes and the windshield wiper fluid light was no longer on. Solid spot for an oil change & tire rotation service. I usually come here on a weekday before 5pm and they work very quickly. Usually service is supposed to come with a car interior vacuum and window clean but it's hit or miss, I think you have to really express that you want it when you're getting checked out to remind them and make sure it gets done. I had a really great experience at this location yesterday. Came by on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't very crowded at all. Only took about 30 mins to get my oil changed, and I love the extra touch of them vacuuming the floors. Everyone I spoke with was really kind, and they didn't even try to upsell anything to me. Cost of an oil change in general seems ludicrous to me, but they were on par with other places I've gone in the Bay Area so this is just what it is now. Make sure you check online for any coupons. Well, after my husband's duck tape fix gave up, I was driving home from across town this evening with the splash scraping the road...I called the nearest Jiffy Lube. For over a year, I've asked each mechanic or service shop I've done business with to check my transmission fluid. In each case--at chain oilchangers and independent shops--they couldn't find a dipstick and didn't know what to do. I ended up just paying for the service I'd come in for--oil change, brakes, 19 pvi--and waiting until next time. I couldn't wait any longer because my car was idling roughly, sometimes lugging on acceleration, and it felt like, occasionally, the transmission wasn't properly engaging. I brought my 2014 RAV4 to Jiffylube in SF (on Van Ness), and I finally found techs who knew what to do! Steve replaced the very low transmission fluid this morning--and the rough idle is gone. Gone, too, is the lugging on acceleration, and the transmission is now engaging properly. I am so lucky no apparent damage was done while tech after tech--and private shop after chain shop--completely dropped the ball on my transmission fluid. Knowledgeable, professional care at an affordable price seem to be a hallmark of both Jiffylubes I've done business with this month. Thank you so much to the people at Jiffylube! Came in for a check engine light after getting an oil change shortly before at this location. They tried to sell me a full diagnostic for $100. I said no then they told me 5 minutes later the did it for free (all they did was plug in a diagnostic tool, $100 for that?) and said I had I cylinder one misfire. I told them I would do some research and think about if I wanted them to go into my car to get it fixed (they said they didn't know how much it would be, so I didn't want to commit on the spot). When I came back, they wanted me to pay $100 for another diagnostic because they had no proof of it being done before. Why not just ask the person who helped me earlier? I came in to get a headlight replaced and Jiffy Lube did it and all was fine or so it seemed. But then I went to get an oil change elsewhere and they mentioned the light was out again. I was confused because I'd replaced it at Jiffy Lube about a month ago. What happened? As the oil change people showed me, the headlight was cracked and so it was broken and Jiffy Lube should have pointed that out instead of "replacing it". The headlight was cracked from a prior accident (so it was definitely cracked when Jiffy Lube replaced it, they didn't cause it). However as the oil change people pointed out, there's no point in replacing the light since the crack allows water and debris and stuff to get in and it'll just break again. So I wish Jiffy Lube had told me that instead of replacing it. Additionally they only replaced the break light and said only that was out even though I had told them both were out based on my experience. read more

I paid $370 for getting my rear breaks changed which is a lot. The guy who was helping me out tried to make it look like he is doing me a big favor for charging me $370! The first price he gave me for rear break pads change was $411 and I was like I can't afford that and he put some "discounts" and "promotion codes" and he said he can charge me for $370 instead of $411 (WOW HOW GENEROUS) Also they lied to me that my rear shocks have issues and it is causing my back tires to get flat. They said they can fix my rear shocks for me for $900!!! This is a scame business. I took the car today to two different shops and they said they are perfectly fine! Be careful! This place is usually okay. I come with a coupon and it brings down the rate to be somewhat reasonable. They always do that trick where they say they will apply it but forget to when you are checking out. It happens every time. They get someone else to check you out that is different from who checked you in. Not a big deal. Just make sure the online coupon is there before paying. This time around I asked them to print out the estimate for the oil change before. ALWAYS ASK THEM TO PRINT OUT THE ESTIMATE! Anyway, I compared the final receipt with estimate. They tacked on $10 in "changes to estimate." I was never consulted on what that is. Unfortunately I paid and left before realizing that extra $10. Never coming to this place again. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Jiffy lube reused the old oil drain plug on my Subaru Impreza Sti instead of using a new one. My car was leaking oil for weeks all over the undercarriage of my car. And worst of all. The guy who 'greeted' me watched me pull into the garage, stared at me incredulously for a solid 20 seconds, walked towards me while he shook his head, and asked: 'What you want?' I said I needed an oil change, and he responded with 'You gotta wait here in your car', which is what I was already doing, and what he was incredulous about in the first place. Ridiculous. In keeping with the theme of this business, I'm going to write this review in a jiffy. I've taken my car to a few Jiffy Lubes around the Bay. But not all Jiffy Lubes are created equal. This Van Ness location, in my humble opinion, remains the best for my oil changing/auto service needs. I've never had a long wait here. The auto technicians always do a thorough job. The waiting room is pretty lackluster. It's got ample seating, some magazines, coffee to drink, and a tv to watch. I wouldn't want to spend an afternoon here. But I'm not looking for a Starbucks or anything. I just want them to get my car in good shape and to put me back on the road. And they oblige in a timely manner - every time. For the record, I used to take my car to the Mill Valley Jiffy Lube location. Unfortunately, every time I would go there, I felt like they were trying to up-sell me on everything. It got really annoying because I no longer knew if my car was in such bad shape or if they were just trying to milk every dollar they could out of me. But the SF/Van Ness Jiffy Lube folks seem legit. I came today for an oil change and since I work around the corner, I usually leave my car there go back to work and I pick it up when I'm done. There was several cars in front of mine today, so it was going to take them a while to be done. When I told the service guy that I was going to leave, on a very bad tone he told me that if I didn't stay with my car, he was going to charge me $35 extra. I told him that I been coming to this place for the past 5 years, and always doing the same thing, and I was never charged extra for doing so. The guy didn't even blink. This is the first time I see this dude. The other people that work there are usually nice and friendly unlike this guy. I took my car somewhere else. This place was very convenient for me, and the rest of the staff is very friendly. But, because of this guy, I'm taking my business somewhere else. I go to Jiffy Lube because it's the best and most convenient deal on excellent Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic oil. Had my oil changed again, which means I got "Signature Service"(tm). I told them to just change oil and filter, and top off windshield washer fluid, nothing else, so I groaned when I saw they were checking my tire pressure. Sure enough, afterward my digital gauge measured pressures ranging from 35 psi (correct) to 41 psi. I suppose I should be grateful that one was correct. On a previous oil change they added coolant without asking me first, which meant I had to get a coolant change at my dealer ($), because my car takes special coolant. MORAL: Don't let them do ANYTHING but change the oil and filter, clean the windows, and vacuum. read more
