Would not recommend this boat company due to the blatant dishonesty and petulant attitude of the owner. Our friend had booked the Valhalla 2 in May for an afternoon on the lake in early July. The friend who booked noticed a week before the trip that the Valhalla 2 no longer appeared on the website (http://www.valhallayachtrentals.com), only the Valhalla 1 and Valhalla 3 were available. He sent an email to the owner (Scott Andrews) to confirm that the boat was still available and the owner replied that we were "all good" and had "no reason to worry". See attached screenshot for evidence of this email conversation. On the day of our afternoon rental (July 3), we showed up well ahead of our scheduled 2 pm departure time to check in and load food/drinks from the parking lot. Around 2:00, the captain pulled into the slip with the previous group on the Valhalla 3. We noticed that this was not the boat we had booked and asked the captain what had happened with the original boat (Valhalla 2). The captain was confused but informed us that Valhalla 2 was unavailable and that our 20 person group would fit just fine on the Valhalla 3. The captain also informed us that the bathroom was out of service on the Valhalla 3 and that we'd need to wait until rafting up with Valhalla 1 to use their bathroom (so 1 toilet for the combined parties of ~40 people). At this point we asked for a discount on the Valhalla 3 as it was not the boat we had rented and was not in full working condition. The discount was verbally agreed upon and we began to board the Valhalla 3 with our supplies. While we were boarding, another group of ~20 came onto the dock and indicated that they had booked the Valhalla 3 for the same timeslot. Since we booked the Valhalla 2 and they booked the Valhalla 3, we now had two groups for one available boat. At that point we were on the phone with the owner and the owner decided that the other group should get the Valhalla 3 since he didn't like our attitude. He asked us to leave the boat and threatened to have security remove us forcefully, but we disembarked without confrontation as we didn't want to hold up the other group. During that process, we learned that the Valhalla 2 had apparently sunk a few weeks before (which itself is sketchy) so the owner certainly knew that the boat was unavailable well in advance and just flatly lied to us a week before by confirming availability (again, see screenshot as evidence). He also initially refused to refund us and has still refused to admit responsibility for the situation (double-booking one of his boats) despite him being the sole proprietor of this rental company. Instead, he has tried to cover his reputation by attempting to have our truthful reviews removed and claiming that we deserved this treatment because we were "disrespectful", "belligerent", and "verbally abusive". As a witness to the entirety of the conversation had on the dock, I can confirm that none of these labels are remotely true. While we were frustrated by the situation caused by the owner's negligence, at no point was there any yelling or derogatory language directed from our group towards the captain or owner. The owner has also claimed that we were "removed by security", which is also completely false. We left the boat with our supplies once we realized this was a no-win situation for us and out of respect for the other group. Other rental companies tried to get us a last-minute charter, but unfortunately there was no availability so we cut our losses and left around 4. To summarize, the owner of Valhalla Yacht Rentals (Scott Andrews) failed to inform us that the boat we had booked was no longer available. He failed to admit any responsibility for his mistake then or now. And he has failed to show any personal integrity, instead responding with hostility and spewing lies about the actions of our group. Let Scott enjoy his remaining floating toys on his own and take your rental business elsewhere. read more

We had a group of 20 people from all over the country fly to Austin for a going away event as well as to celebrate the 4th of July as a group for what could be the last time. Our group's organizer rented this charter two months in advance. Around 2 weeks ago, our organizer noticed the boat he reserved was no longer listed on the rental site so he emailed to confirm everything was ok. Scott responded yes. However, we arrive at the dock and find only one boat there. To our confusion, we were told that this was our boat even though it was smaller than the one we reserved. The captain then informs us that the boat we reserved SANK one month ago. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME WE WERE TOLD. ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT. The captain then tells us to get on the boat, however at that moment a second party shows up saying that they also reserved that same boat. The captain now realizes that the boat was double booked and is then told by Scott to kick us off to accommodate the second group, claiming that we were disrespecting the captain. He called security to remove us after we had already voluntarily gotten off the boat and said he wasn't issuing a refund for a boat that sank A MONTH AGO. To say that we were acting belligerent and disrespectful to your captain is a blatant attempt to save face; we had no issues with security and we expressed to the captain several times that we understood the error was not his fault and we appreciated the effort he put in to try to rectify the situation. If anything, you disrespected him yourself by leaving him to handle an error of this magnitude alone, especially considering you were on the premises the whole time and could have spoken to us in person. You're scrambling for an excuse because you didn't have a boat for us either due to negligence, incompetence or wanting to keep over a thousand dollars that you took for a service that you were fully aware you could no longer provide. On top of all that, you're gonna call us a liability when you can't even keep your own boats afloat. Homie says he's been in business 7 years but only got 4 reviews. Literally never written a Google review, but this one was so incredibly horrific that I needed to spend the time writing one. Firstly, our group of 20 booked this man's boat over two months in advance. Two weeks before the excursion, the double-decker boat that we had booked was taken down from the rental website. When the owner was called and an inquiry was raised about this, we were assured that everything was fine. Two weeks later, we arrive at Dock E. The owner was present at the dock half an hour before our planned arrival time. When we tried to speak to him (really just to say hello), he ignored us and rode off on a scooter. We found that strange, but approached the dock anyway. Next, we notice that there is a single-deck boat anchored in the spot that we were told to go to. When asked about this, the captain (who was a very nice man, put in an extremely tough position by this owner) informed us that the double-decker boat that we had paid for had SUNK a few weeks prior. He then assured us that the twenty of us would be able to fit on this significantly smaller boat. After hearing about how the previous boat had literally sunk in the lake, we had concerns about the twenty of us departing on this obviously overcrowded ship. The captain advised us to contact the owner. We did, and were told that this boat would have to suffice because it was the only thing available. We were not thrilled, but packed our things onto the boat regardless. As we boarded, we were informed that the one restroom on his boat was out of order. Their plan was to anchor nearby to another boat out on the lake and share theirs. 40 people to one restroom. Again our frustration grew, yet we boarded anyway (mostly because the captain was a genuinely courteous fellow and was trying to help us out however he could). Next, another smaller group arrives and says that they have the 2pm slot (same as us) to rent this boat. The captain at this point is visibly bewildered, and calls the owner again. The owner tells him to have us remove our things from the boat, and let the new group on. When we speak with the owner on the phone, further confused, he tells us that we have been rude to his captain and that we no longer had the right to board his boat. At this point, we were told to board a smaller boat than we had purchased, with no bathroom, and then to get off the boat because we were upset about it. The owner called security to have us forcibly removed if we refused to get off the boat. We quickly became friends with both of the security guards, who knew well how dysfunctional this owner was. The captain and security delayed the new group's departure for over an hour, trying to find us another boat to go out on because they recognized that we were being done extremely wrong by. By 4pm, we had not found a boat and told the captain to just take the new group out. We did not want to ruin their day as well. All in all, the owner of this boat appears to be a delusional little man, who ran from the site of the dock upon our arrival because he did not want to be present for the expected confrontation that was to ensue. He failed to notify us of the sinking of his first ship, double-booked his second ship, kept our deposit, and then removed us from the boat after boarding (not because of any behavioral issues, but because it was obviously too small for our party size.) Again, thank you to the captain for trying so hard to rectify the owner's immensely theatrical blunders. None of the blame on you. To the owner of this ship, have some pride in your work. If you would have taken some responsibility for your blunders, this entire situation could have been avoided or rectified in a much more timely manner. This is your business, and as such you must treat future customers with respect, and have the confidence to let them know when a mistake was made. Running off and hiding behind your captain is not the way. To all future boat renters, I implore you to seek literally any of the other boats at this site besides Valhalla. Terrible boat rental company. Our group booked a rental 2 months in advance for a going away party. Rental was for 20 people on July 4th weekend with people flying-in from all over the country. Two weeks prior our group was assured over email the rental is still available. When we showed up at the agreed time a smaller boat was awaiting at the dock. At the same time another group showed up to the same boat. The captain was dumbfounded and tried to clear the situation with the owner Scott Andrews. At some point the owner (Scott) decided the easiest was to get out of the situation was to call the security claiming our group was rude to the captain. All while the captain was attempting to resolve the situation by contacting fellow captains at the dock. Not only Scott did not attempt to find a solution but also refused to refund the deposit and called an armed security guard. We spent 3 hours at the dock attempting to find another boat with the help of the captain, owner of another boat company and the security guard. Everyone was extremely kind and helpful with the exception of one person, the owner of Valhalla Yacht Rentals Scott Andrews. This was an extremely expensive and disappointing experience. Just to start I rarely take the time to bad reviews because for the most part I think it's a waste of time and we all have bad experiences sometimes BUT I am putting this up here as a warning for people who decide to go with this owner. If things go wrong, the man you will deal was untrustworthy with us and may try shady tactics/ attacking you instead of owning up to his simple mistake. This is NOT an attack on the captains who were patient understanding and tried their best to help us out while their owner left them to deal with this mess. I'll be brief. The owner had previously met the leader of our group who booked the rental. Confirmed his reservation 2 months in advance and received an update that everything was fine 2 weeks before we arrived. As we arrived he "left" the premises on scooter. After talking to a very confused captain, we find out that our boat had sunk a month ago and that he double booked us with another group for the same boat. Instead of owning his mistake, coming back and trying to do his best to make it right, he accused our party of being rude to the captain over the phone and told us it was grounds to cancel our reservation. The captain who was just as confused as us was patient and understanding throughout the entire ordeal. In fact he spent the better part of an hour with his shipmates trying to find us an extra boat. Why would someone we were extremely rude to hold up another party spend extra time and effort trying to help us? He wouldn't. The owner made it all up to cover his own a**. Again you'll see a lot of positive reviews here and I don't doubt they are true but if you have the option of going with another company I would suggest you do. A man willing to lie like this is capable of anything and if you end up in a similar situation will also throw you under the bus. Let me start this review off by stating that I have been a passenger on Scott boat prior to July 3rd. While I wouldn't say the experience was without any hiccups, I still had a blast and would have recommended Scott prior to July 3rd. The reality of how good a business is run is how well they handle moments of crisis, and unfortunately for me I learned the truth the hard way. Approx 2 months ago I decided to charter a boat for my last July 4th in Austin. I went to the website and of the 4 boats available decided on Valhalla 2. Fast forward to jun 29th, I went to the booking website and noticed the boat I chartered is no longer listed. I become a little concerned and email Scott directly and he ASSURES me there is nothing to worry about. July 3rd, 20 of us arrive at the dock and immediately are confused. The boat at the dock is significantly smaller than the one I chartered. I speak to the captain and inform him, I booked the Valhalla 2 and not the Valhalla 3 which was present. He looks at me confused and says the Valhalla 2, SANK A MONTH AGO... and its replacement was in dry dock undergoing repairs. The captain is just as confused as we are and I ask to speak to Scott. I know this is clearly not the captain fault. I speak to Scott and explain the situation that he is clearly aware of and he immediately tells me to take it or leave it. I ask for a small concession on price since I did not get what I paid for and we come to an agreement of approx 15% discount. As soon as I am off the phone the previous charter group leader comes up to me and asks for Scott contact. Apparently the boat's bathroom and stereo were not working and they also wanted a discount. IN THE MIDDLE OF LOADING THE BOAT, another group shows and claims they have the same boat... chaos ensues The captain, myself and the other group have no idea what is going on. The captain reaches out to Scott who runs the show to understand what to do. A few mins later the captain informs me, my group is to be taken off due to rudeness... The captain and I look at each other and don't understand what is going on. I ask to speak to Scott, he reaffirms this is the reason and not the double booking. Let me make this crystal clear never at any point was myself or anyone in my group rude to the captain. We were understandably upset at the situation but not with him. I know he didn't create this mess. Scott will claim that is the reason we were kicked off, not the fact that 15 other people showed up looking for the same boat. Scott I have 19 witnesses, you have no one to back up your claim. So let's move on from this point and stop embarrassing yourself by lying. If the captain of the boat reads this review, leave this company. This man left you high and dry. I thank you again for trying remedy the situation by reaching out to other boats. Same goes to all those on the dock who tried to help us get on the water. Something Scott never bothered to do. Areas For Improvement: -Maintain your boats. You lost 2 boats in less than 2 months and the one you had available didn't have a working bathroom -Treat your employees with respect. You left your captain to clean up your mess and you didn't even give him a heads up of the cluster coming his way. -Scheduling . Maybe double check you don't book 2 groups for 1 boat on the most important lake day of the year. Pretty Basic -Accountability. Own the mistake. -Customer Service. Maybe its not a good idea to lie to your customers multiple times and shift the blame to them for your own incompetence. All you had to do was own it. Man up. Next Steps: -Refund me my money. I am not paying you for ruining my July 4th. I already have enough proof to dispute it. Don't waste anymore of my time by trying to keep my hard earned cash. -Sell your boats.
