James was waiting for us at the dock with the jet ski already in the water when we arrived. After a quick but thorough overview on safety and operation, we were on the water. In our 2 hours we made it down to Mansfield Dam and then over to the 360 bridge before coming back to the dock. The jet ski worked flawlessly and we had a ton of fun. We had a great experience with Lake Austin Water Sports and would highly recommend them for renting a watercraft and having some fun on the water.

The biggest concern was a mandatory 20% gratuity that was never disclosed in the Getmyboat listing or booking terms. After booking, the owner informed me it was required and that my options were to pay it or cancel the trip. My issue wasn't with tipping--it was that the total cost changed after I had already booked. I contacted Getmyboat support, but they told me owners set their own fees, and I ultimately felt I had no realistic choice but to pay since our trip was only a few days away. I was also originally told I could pay the gratuity in cash on the day of the trip, but a few days beforehand I was told it had to be paid in advance through Venmo. On the day of the trip, the boat arrived about 20 minutes late for pickup, and I found the captain to be unprofessional. He smoked weed and drank during the chatter and made us stop on the way back so he could jump into the water to urinate. The boat itself was exactly what we expected, but the lack of transparency about mandatory fees and the overall professionalism left a negative impression. I hope future guests are informed of all required charges before booking so they can make an informed decision. Even with private reviews and information given the owners never reached out or apologized for the whole experience. Would not recommend this place

We were also interested in wake boarding and had never tried before. Our captain (Keaton) was very patient with us and also very helpful with instructions. He was also great with showing us points of interest. All in all we had an awesome day and can't wait to rent from these folks again!

Other than rain, it gets its water from Lake…read moreTravis, beginning at the Mansfield Dam and extending all the way past the iconic Pennybacker Bridge down to the Tom Miller Dam. A constant flow from LT ensures that LA maintains the same constant water levels year-round. Because of the vastness of Lake Austin, essentially meandering down the Colorado River (something like 20 miles long!), there are several different areas, with different landscapes with some areas better suited for certain lake activities than others - while all are great. The "top"of Lake Austin, right by the Mansfield Dam, is a fantastic spot for paddle boarding, kayaking, and swimming. Boats are not allowed in this particular area, so the water is not choppy at all and is extra cool in temperature from the direct LT flow - so refreshing on the 100+ degree Texas scorchers.. It is also very clear - you can see all the way to the bottom on most days! Other parts of Lake Austin are also conducive to personal water sports; however, are better for larger watercraft and great for fishing enthusiasts. The lake has been stocked with catfish, largemouth bass, and a few other varieties. Don't have a boat? No problem. Have actually had decent success while doing some shore fishing (catch & release; that's just me). And water-skiing - weeeeeeeeh! Lake Austin also backs up against several great parks for playing with the D.O.G., friends, kiddos, and maybe even a little picnicking or grilling (e.g., Mary Quinlan Park, Fritz Hughes Park, etc.). So, whatever area you choose to visit, or whatever you choose to do, just remember to bring drinking water, sunblock, and maybe some bug spray...and just have fun! ;) [155 in 2015]

The parking lot is small, as is the space, but people are parking a mile up the street and on the side of 620. Beware of amateurs! Lol. The nature all around it super pretty, and it tends to get a lot less crowded than other water-areas in the Summer. Sometimes the current from the dam can be a lot, and it makes it hard to not get swept downstream, but Ive only really run into a problem with that in the off seasons, like early fall and Spring, and right after Summer storms. This is a beautiful place to enjoy nature. In the summer, during weekends and on holidays, you do need to make a reservation to be able to park and put your things at a picnic table.
