My son and coach Jeff before his 1st kickboxing fight.
    Robert A.

My boys and I have been training Martial Arts since 2013. We started because my older son was getting bullied. My boys are now 9 & 12 years old. Throughout the past few years we have trained at several MMA gyms. White Dragon, 5 Star MMA, Victory MMA, Agility, Outliers and finally Alliance East. I have nothing bad to say about any of these gyms, but Alliance East has taken my boys to the next level. The difference has been the attention to detail high quality of coaching as well as the wide variety of classes that cover all aspects of fighting. Boxing, kickboxing, jiu jitsu, wrestling etc. they have it all! The coaches truly care about the kids progression and if they like to compete the coaches are all in. My 12 year old just did his 1st IKF kickboxing fight and won! With coach Jeff and coach Jeremy in his corner the sky is the limit. In the past 3 months coach Jeremy and coach Jeff have built his confidence and technique exponentially since we've been here. They made us feel welcomed from the start. I'm excited to watch both of my kids grow under these great coaches at Alliance East. Alliance East is our 2nd home now. Oh yeah and believe it or not this gym is actually cheaper than the others. As a parent what more can you ask for?

If you're looking for a place to blow off steam and learn something that will help build your confidence, check out Alliance Training Center in El Cajon. Its the perfect place for those well seasoned fighters and novice folks such as myself just trying to keep conditioned. When you step into the gym you will be greeted like you are apart of the family as they treat everyone with respect weather you like it or not. Rule of advice: if you plan to do this be ready to work hard and not eat before training and drink water. I seen many folks head to the bathroom after 45 minutes of growling, intense exercises. If you are the motivated type and not afraid of hard work Alliance Training is the place for you. There motto should be "No rest for the weak."

My boys have been coming to this gym for about a year and a half and they love it. The coaches are great with the kids. They are firm but fair. Having coach Jeremy there for every jiu-jitsu competition and wrestling competition coaching is great. He helps the kids gain that confidence they need in their training wich will also transfer to other aspects in their life. Coach Matt is also great with the kids and is very patient. I would recommend this gym to anyone in need of getting into shape or trying to get their kids into a sport.

I've been going to Switch a little over 2 months now. I'm a complete beginner, overweight, almost…read more40, and had absolutely no experience in any type of MMA, team sports, or group exercise, so if I can do it, you can too. Switch offers a wide variety of classes. They have a gym on one side with strength and conditioning classes, and MMA and boxing classes on the other, they sell gear, the bathrooms are clean, the music is great, plenty of parking, and I think they have a shower. The classes are consistent and run throughout the early morning into the evening, which makes it easy to find something that fits your schedule. The best part of all is the people, the coaches and the students. You really do run into every type of person there, and everyone is welcome. I genuinely feel that. You just have to show up with respect and a little dedication. I've had the pleasure of learning from Coach Marvin, Coach Andre, and Coach Rob, who owns the gym, he is definitely doing something right. They all have so much to offer. The 7am Muay Thai Coach, Coach Marvin has an incredible eye for detail and can explain or show technique in different ways depending on what clicks for you. He doesn't just explain how to do something, he explains why, which shows how deep his knowledge really is. He also has thoughtful things to say beyond technique and understands that everyone comes in for different reasons, which makes his perspective really valuable. Rob and Andre have also coached early morning Muay Thai, and they're both extremely talented and give you personal pointers. It's cool getting a mix of styles, but what stands out is that they all build off each other's teaching and give each other credit. There's a lot of respect there. All 3 make it fun and motivating. It's a perfect balance of work, discipline, and even humor. You walk out feeling accomplished and better than when you walked in. The environment stays positive. I haven't met one rude person. Everyone has been cool, understanding that I'm new, and willing to offer support or advice. Watching the more experienced students drill together gives you something to work toward. At first there may be disomfort like youre slowing people down but everyone starts somewhere. Many great things in life take the most effort. They offer free trials, what do you have to lose?

From the day I started, every coach was patient and attentive, even in the larger classes. They taught me fundamentals very patiently and offered encouragement every step of the way. As I improved, they gave me more advanced, tailored guidance. It's clear that they encourage kindness towards others, hard work, AND fun. Coach Rob often has a large class with varying skill levels, yet he makes time to help everyone individually. In just one hour classes, he still manages to give every person a bit of personal attention. He even took extra time after a couple of classes to give me pointed, informed direction that made a huge impact on my progress. Coach Toby is the best, and I feel lucky to get to learn from him! He's super patient, pays great attention to technique, and pushes me in a way that's kind and constructive. Coach Panda is a smart fighter, sees exactly where I need to make improvements, and is super encouraging. Coach Marvin is also super helpful, hardworking, and patient. The entire staff at the gym has positive vibes, and all the coaches push you without putting you down. Every class I take (which is every weekday!) I feel like I gained something, and I get excited about the improvements I'm making. I've never been this excited to go to the gym every day, and it doesn't hurt that everyone else who goes there is kind and supportive, too! Will be going for as long as I can.

My son, who has been diagnosed with ASD, was scheduled for his second trial class. We showed up early and waited patiently--for over 35 minutes past our appt time. There was no front desk staff to check him in, and the coach told us to wait for the check in person and proceed to completely ignored us. He clearly started the 4 PM class we were scheduled the trial for. Shouldn't there be a list of students prior to starting the class for the coach to see? It felt like we were invisible just because we weren't paying members yet. This was supposed to be a welcoming environment, but instead, we were left feeling neglected, disappointed, and discriminated against. On top of that, the facility itself was cramped and located next to a foul-smelling dumpster--not the kind of place I'd want my child to spend time in. I don't know how this place had operated before with all previous year 5 star reviews, but as of today, they have clearly lost their touch and a potential enrollment. I'm so glad we didn't sign up. No child--especially one with special needs--should be made to feel this unseen. If you're looking for a place that respects and supports every student, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere.
