The place has great salsa and the food was good. The waiter was friendly but a bit skippy/spacey. In the receipt says to separate the Plato loco in 3 portions and it wasn't. Waiter should have made sure it was. He didn't. Good place to come get dinner overall. The place is decorated with the Mexican style but is not fancy. Plenty of parking. read more

We stopped in for a late lunch on Friday after my sons OCS graduation, and noticed others did too. We enjoyed a round of spicy margs on the rocks with my requested tajin rims. Drinks were good, food hit the spot. I had a beef taco, chicken enchilada combo plate. My son had a quesadilla of some sort. The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. This is probably the closest Mexican restaurant to the base and since we haven't been able to enjoy our fav hometown place in a bit, it was nice to dine here. Great service! read more

Ordered al Pastor taco and veggie fajitas. The taco was delicious, however, the fajitas came out and were microwaved steamed veggies. They didn't resemble fajita veggies at all. I ended up ordering additional al Pastor tacos and sending back the "fajita" entree. I'm not sure what happened with the veggies but after asking they did say what was brought out was their fajita veggies. I would go back but will not order the fajitas. read more

Always a winner!! I normally order the chicken soup to take back home...I order chicken soup from alot of Mexican restaurants but this by far is my favorite...others have tooo many tomatoes there's have none which is perfect...I know a personal preference but it really is the best soup. read more

My boyfriend and I were looking for a local Mexican restaurant to get our grub on while watching college football and we discovered our new favorite date night spot. This place is so yummy. Our go to is the quesadillas, they are always loaded up with protein and cheese. On Wednesdays they have $5 margaritas and $2 house shots. I've been coming here since I was younger! It's definitely the family place to come!! Your greeted when you come in they offer military discounts and the food is so good!! My go to is the POLLO LOCO! The first two times I tried it I was not a fan at all but I tried em a few more times and while I wouldn't order the quesadillas a lot of the other options have been really good, we really like the Columbus burrito, street tacos, chips and salsa, and the molcajete. I personally had never had to wait for seating as they seem to have a good amount of space and I have had pleasant interactions with staff on every occasion. read more

Order tortilla soup and it's no where near authentic. There wasn't any use of guajillo sauce nor sliced tortillas or black beans. Instead they used the chips you get to dip salsa. Basically it broth with tomatoes, slice onions, a few pieces of avocado, rice and chunks of chicken or beef. I also ordered a beef burrito and got chicken instead. The food taste alright just wasn't what I order nor expected. For a soup and a burrito with no sides and 2 drinks came out to $32.98. Should have been at least under $25 for everything. read more

This was my first visit and it was wonderful. The food was good and the staff was great. I had enchiladas, one cheese and one beef, they were delicious. The brown says was delicious. The place is really, really ridiculously cheap and seems to have a lot of liquor stocked up. The beer selection they have is very authentic, one of my co-diners ordered a beer that seemed very, very exported from Mexico. The horchata was pretty good, not too sweet and came in a HUGE glass. The food, was okay I had the carne asada which was surprisingly tough. The weird thing was that it was sliced very thinly and yet took so long to cut through-the knife they gave me had no screws in the grip which made it a difficult to say the least. I'm willing to give it another shot since it was so cheap and the torta looked delicious. read more

This restaurant is a great little treasure that we found after my son's graduation from Fort Benning basic training. He wanted to take us out to eat after the ceremony and he wanted Mexican. My mom remembered passing this place on the way to the National Infantry Museum, so we thought we check it out. Turns out, this is quite the popular place with the military and civilians in Columbus. LOL I had the chicken chimichangas - all white meat, tender and juicy. My mother had a quesadilla with chicken, steak & shrimp - tons of meat, cooked to perfection (she said it was so delicious she was tempted to lick the plate). The beans and rice were fresh and tasty and the guacamole was as good as homemade (not a puree, but fresh and chunky). Daughters had the enchiladas - no complaints, they were very happy, and my son had a California burrito which was huge. He said he was completely satisfied and that's good enough for me. My daughters were unable to finish their dinners, but the waiter had no problem boxing up the leftovers and packed them nicely in a bag with forks (!) so we could eat them on the way home. If we are ever in Columbus GA again, we are absolutely coming back. Definitely will recommend this place to others in the area! read more

Just moved down here and my wife been needing her Mexican fix. Stumbled across this place and she finally got her fix. The food and service was good, no complaints. Did not have liquor license due to the new year, so I couldn't get a beer or two. But, the manager said "we are waiting for em, and should be here end of January 2019." read more

After a long hike at Providence Canyon, we were starving and stopped for dinner. The staff was friendly and we got seated right away. The chips and salsa were brought quickly and they were delicious! This was always a favorite after SOA protests. I've spent many a Sunday late afternoon/evening here thinking about what I had just witnessed, talking to friends I hadn't seen in a while, and enjoying pretty decent Mexican food. It's a clever (or perhaps just pragmatic) setup; that market itself is a gem, stocked with an impressive array of authentic Spanish and Mexican goods. We'll definitely return for provisions alone. Inside the dining room, the space is spotless if somewhat dated--simple, no-frills decor that prioritizes function over flair. Our server was cheerful and energetic, a bright presence, though service proved inconsistent; she largely vanished after taking our order, leaving us to wait an inexplicable 30-plus minutes for food despite only two other tables occupied. When plates finally arrived, the portions were strikingly generous, almost comically so for the price point. We began with the complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa carried decent freshness and a mild kick, but it wanted for seasoning--more salt, a bolder hit of garlic and cumin would have elevated it from passable to memorable. No refills appeared, which felt stingy given the "free" promise. The horchata, however, shone: creamy, deeply flavored with cinnamon and vanilla notes, refreshingly cool and well-balanced--one of the better versions I've encountered recently. The carnitas dinner plate delivered on volume: a mountain of moist, crisped pork that had all the textural appeal one hopes for--tender interior, satisfying crunch on the edges--yet it arrived curiously underseasoned, lacking the salty, savory depth that should define the dish. Homemade refried beans were a highlight: smooth, flavorful, clearly made in-house with real care. The Mexican rice held good seasoning too, though it verged on dry. Steak fajitas followed the same pattern--giant heaps tender strips of beef and soft, well-cooked vegetables in generous heaps, but again, flavor felt muted, as if the seasoning hand had been unusually light. It's puzzling: everything executed competently, meats tender, produce fresh, yet the palate kept searching for that missing punch of spice, acid, or salt. No where else in COLGA gives this much steak, so very grateful. The shrimp cocktail appetizer (small portion) justified its price through quality ingredients--clean, plump shrimp in a classic tomato-based sauce--but it was straightforward, nothing transcendent. The queso fundido with chorizo fared far better: authentic, house-made chorizo with real spice and depth, melded into creamy, stretchy queso that felt genuinely homemade and deeply satisfying. Desserts redeemed much of the meal. The tres leches cake was textbook--moist without being soggy, richly soaked in the three milks, properly sweet and authentic in texture. The chocoflan, though, was the standout: flawless layering, silky flan with just the right caramel note, dense chocolate cake beneath, executed with evident skill and genuine flavor. In the end, this place offers undeniable value through abundance and some authentic touches (those beans, the queso, the desserts), alongside a market worth the trip alone. But the persistent lack of seasoning across the savory dishes left the experience feeling curiously flat. It's hard to muster enthusiasm for a return meal when so much potential goes unseasoned. Still, another visit to explore different menu items isn't out of the question--perhaps the kitchen's bolder preparations will hit the mark. The furnishings, plates, knives and forks are all bargain basement or dollar store quality and the market is located next door to a place that sells new and used tires. But the food, as the memes and adage imply, is solid. I definitely have had better, but this place produces a fine product. I found the tacos better than the pupusa in the full entrees look pretty good, as well. Service is friendly, but I would not say that it is very professional. It appears to be more that they brought in family and friends to run food out to you. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it bears mentioning. All in all, this was a great stop for lunch.

The location is much smaller and tucked away and far less crowded. If you are looking for a quieter setting I would highly suggest El Carrizo on Macon! Wait staff can be spotty. We already knew what we were getting so the ordering was quick and easy. Standard chips and salsa while you wait. The salsa could be better and a bit more spicy but they do have a spicy version if that's more your taste. We both ordered the carne asada dinner. I don't do the beans so I got a double serving of rice. The portions are decent so always enough to fill you up. Place is big and the noise level is normal. Nothing crazy. Overall I like this place and location.
