First time shopping at a Vallarta Supermarket and coming to this location. When you first walk in it looks super spacious and bright. Everything looks clean and I noticed they're constantly restocking and replenishing the ready made food. I like how the produce section is laid out and how the bulk items are tucked towards the back. They have digital scales you can weigh your items in and print a sticker with the price, to make it easier to scan at checkout. They have a cafeteria style area up front where you can get ceviche or hot food to eat there or take home. Everything looked clean around the food area, and I emphasize this because the last time I went to get food at the Cardenas on 4th, I saw little roaches running inside the hot food windows. After I was done inspecting the area, I walked by the Pollo Asado and it looked good, so I had to get one to go, along with some fresh bolillos. The chicken is pricier than Costco, but worth it in my opinion. I also saw a worker restocking the Bionicos so I had to grab one too. I hope they keep the same level of cleanliness and attention to detail in the future. I will be back to order more food from their cafeteria/restaurant and continue to buy produce here. read more

You don't visit Vallarta if you want the cheapest groceries. You shop at Vallarta for better quality items that come at an expected (moderate to high) price point. It's got friendly staff, expansive product selection, as well as being cleaner than any other Latin American market. They even provide a rain check if the sale item is out of stock. If low prices are important, you can leave town to shop at El Super (with its "cuesta menos" tagline), Superior Grocers and Super King. The hedge fund that acquired Cardenas (after that family sold out) needs to have its ROI, leaving the chain with inferior produce quality and steep everyday pricing, making Vallarta almost the better option. You go to Vallarta when there's a sale (with somewhat competitive pricing), as well as their quality of produce and meats, as they are comparable to (and related to) Northgate Gonzalez. Vallarta holds their own against the mainstream supermarkets, as Albertsons/ Vons advertised untrimmed tri tip roasts (with about 30-40% fat) at $4.99/ lb recently whereas Vallarta's tri tip roasts were trimmed (with far less fat) at the same sale price about a week apart. I find myself shopping at Vallarta much more than any of the other chains that cater to Latin American tastes, since Cardenas (as the closest supermarket catering to the Latin American tastes) is looking quite tired inside, with grocery quality that pales in comparison. read more

It did not take long for the quality of food and baked breads to bottom it is disappointing. I thought they were overpriced since their arrival. I went yesterday to get bread and the bread was old and stale. Their food quality had slipped with taste and quantity. I will no longer shop at Vallarta since I feel it is an inferior market and prefer other local markets. read more

Vallarta Supermarket truly brought back so many nostalgic memories. Growing up in the LA area, this was the spot in our neighborhood. I used to walk there with my neighbor just to grab snacks, slices of cake, and arroz con leche. Now being in Rancho for over 20 years, seeing it here feels like such a full circle moment, I love it. I love the way it is laid out perfectly and so welcoming. The ambiance is so lively and vibrant, music playing, the smell of fresh food everywhere, people laughing, families shopping... it just feels warm, welcoming, and full of culture. We ordered tacos (so flavorful), grabbed a rotisserie chicken for tostadas, and of course had to get tres leches cake and some snacks. The service was attentive and fast. Everything was affordable and hit the spot. They also have ceviche, sushi, ready-to-go meals, and even a smoothie bar. The check out area went pretty quick only 1 person ahead of me. The new supermarket on foothill and let me tell you is was worse the Costco on a busy day, I don't think the company expected so many customers we spent most of you our time waiting for a smoothie(that was not worth the 25 minute wait) To many lines to order items and people like me waiting for items but I'm standing in the way of other customers shopping. Don't get wrong this store is huge, clean and fully stocked of a lot of items, at the same time you have workers walking by and management in suit walking by you and no one say welcome or hi. At least the lady that was giving out samples by the juice bar was friendly. We grabbed our drinks and the chips and pan dulces and check out and least they had a self checkout. My advice is to wait a few days to a week let the newest died down, my parents want to go but I'll wait awhile and then take them and do another review read more

Super excited that there's a Vallarta Supermarket in my hometown! Entering here was a Déjà vu from the big markets in Mexico! It's a one stop shop for everything food related! It's very clean and very well organized! Every time I come here I always make sure to get a dirty horchata from the juice bar while shopping for food! The produce always looks fresh. I mainly get crema and meat. I also like getting Jamaica leaves and fresh made tortillas. I love coming to this store! I've been here a few times and have never had any bad experiences! I've also tried the carnitas that are made here and those were really good! The pan dulce is good too but I've only gotten it once since I do have a panadería that I go to that's amazing. Husband and I were driving by so we decided to check this store out. We've never been to any Vallarta location. I think we went on the second Saturday since they've opened, so it was crowded, but we looked as best we could that day. We plan to return on a much less crowded day. For being a brand new place, the cashier wasn't smiling and friendly. She already acted like she already hates her job. The store itself is very nice and feels like it has everything you'd expect from a grocery store and then some. Even with the crowds, the team did a great job keeping lines moving, and I didn't notice empty shelves or any major issues, which honestly felt like a small miracle for a grand opening. We decided to give the new Vallarta Market in Rancho Cucamonga a chance despite seeing several negative reviews online regarding spoiled and rotten food. Since it's only about 8 minutes from our house and newly opened (opened April 1st), we wanted to experience it for ourselves instead of judging based on reviews alone. We visited earlier this week and honestly, the store itself looked nice and had a good selection of items. Unfortunately, our experience with the food was very disappointing and concerning. We purchased a carne al pastor taco tray with a sell-by date of 5/10, so it should have still been fresh. When we opened it to cook today, the meat was extremely sticky, looked nothing like normal pastor meat, and had the texture/appearance of ground chorizo. It honestly looked and felt spoiled. We also purchased a premade cóctel de camarón from the prepared foods section, and after eating it, we ended up getting sick that same day. At this point, it feels like there may be an issue with food handling, freshness checks, or temperature control. It's disappointing because the store has potential, but food safety should never be overlooked, especially for a brand-new location trying to build trust in the community. Brand new store, just had a grand opening 2 days ago, so expect crowds. This place is huge, has everything you can imagine. Some items are way over priced compared to other stores, other items are cheaper than other stores. The best draw for me is all the fresh food and juice stations. Bought the chicken, beef and cheese tamales ($3 each). They were decent flavor wise, but like most store bought tamales, they're mostly masa. Also bought the pollo asado and Mexican rice. Chicken is a good deal at $10. Delicious and juicy,would get again. Rice was ok, a little undercooked and way over priced. $5.49 for a medium. The bakery definitely caught my attention, I plan to try their cakes in the future. Did buy some pan dulce (4 for $5) and they were great. Employees are all nice and helpful. Excited to have a Vallarta Supermarket so close to home!! Parking is a bit crazy. There is a huge lot of parking behind the store which I just realized this last visit that my husband pointed out. I have chosen to come for some quick food both times. The first time I came was during my lunch and I chose a cup of ceviche. I was a bit bummed there are artificial lemons but at a price I wasn't willing to pay. I asked produce and then was guided down an isle and had found them but was too pricy for my choice. Another thing that bummed me was there was no salt or pepper. This second time, I went to order some chicharon in green chili. It was soooo yummy!! I also got some shredded pork for tacos. Their tortillas were a bit pricy for me. My husband got the 3 tacos plate. He enjoyed it. I enjoyed mine. Still a bit pricy for some items. Hence the 1 star minus. Everyone is helpful and nice. Wow ! The staff is very attentive and professional. The staff in the Seafood department was very professional and informed me about the way they do seafood and gave us some shrimp he just fried! The rotisserie chicken we got from the deli was fresh and moist also well seasoned. The cashier said Thank You and invited us back. The store was well organized and stocked. The team members working the aisles restocking ask if we needed help finding anything. You got my business for sure! Keep up the good work. I finally came 4/3 around 1pm and parking does remind me of Costco lol but we got lucky and found one. Upon entering the store I was speechless I didn't know which way to go lol but I loved the flower section, the guacamole station the pan and I can go on, it was packed but not to where you couldn't move type packed it was good, we walked thru the whole store made our way to the carnicería grabbed some meat, I also purchased an agua fresca de sandía (watermelon) pretty good I also grabbed a salsa de molcajete already made which is a plus. I also grabbed a gelatin in a cup, O M G it was soooooooo good!!! We bought a few more items that will try tomorrow when we bbq the meat we purchased, overall the store is very nice, I will be returning for some other stuff, as far as prices go, some things are priced good and some are high. I told her I wanted thinner pieces she weighed it and it was under the pound I wanted and didn't even ask if it was alright before tying it up and heading to the register, I wanted more so I asked if I could get a pound more and tell me why she gives me 2 huge pieces she knew I didn't want big pieces had an attitude the whole time and went talking smack to her coworker in Spanish. This review is solely for the Panaderia (bakery) service. I was in urgent need of a birthday cake and decided to try them out. This was my first time going into a Vallarta Market and I was impressed by its spacious layout and food services offered. I will return one day to check these out. The bakery had a good variety of cakes such as chocolate, red velvet, and tres leches to name a few. I then came across signage for ordering custom cakes. I thought to settle for one of the counter cakes (which all looked great) but I thought there was no harm in asking if they could do a cake order for next day pick up. I was so glad when they said they were able to do it! I'm not sure if this is always the case but I was so grateful for their flexibility . I ordered a chocolate cake topped with strawberries and a dobash filling. It was perfect! The cake was fresh, not overly sweet and the strawberries complemented nicely. She was very helpful and took the time to explain the family specials, "if I wanted to make dinner easy tonight ", great job because I did and the carnitas were very good.
