If I was rating this purely based on the food, Valle de Bravo would receive 5 stars! We stopped in after a day of skiing at Sugar Mountain. The young lady who sat us was very pleasant but when she brought chips she did not inform us that there was a salsa bar at the front so we were left wondering why there was no salsa. Our server was honestly quite rude and acted as if he did not want us to be there - even though the restaurant was empty. Every time we asked for a refill or any other request he would huff and puff which became quite comical. The food though was amazing! Chalupa, burrito, enchilada and chimichangas - everything came out hot and delicious. So maybe prepare yourself for bad service, but I would still highly recommend this place for the food alone! read more

We are currently assisting with hurricane relief here and stopped in for dinner. Service was quick. We were given chips and you can self serve different salas which was new for me. Prices were so cheap I couldn't believe it. Margaritas were delicious and strong enough but not overbearing. Quesadilla was full of cheese and fries were good. Queso was warm and tasty. My mom and I stopped here for lunch. I was craving real Mexican food.... needless go say, not a fan of this place. We were sat by whom I assume was one of the owners. His demeanor was very crass. His mask was not covering his nose, he appeared to be in a rush to take our order. I got the t-bone with black beans and salad, my mom asked for a Chardonnay with steak fajitas. My t-bone was so dry! I also never got black beans like I asked, and the salad came with no dressing. When I asked for olive oil and vinegar, he handed me Italian dressing?! Yuck! My mom was served a merlot instead of a Chardonnay, and her fajitas didn't come in a sizzling plate. At this point, I just wanted to leave. We ate a little and then left. The one good thing was their chips and home made salsa. The wife, who was also working there was way more polite and nicer to deal with. read more

The salsa was a bit too spicy for me. Not even a hint of cilantro. The chicken taco salad was okay but the beans must have soaked in salt for a week and the guacamole was overly spicy too. When we first walked in I didn't think this was going to be much but was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the ACP. It was delicious. Probably, the best ACP I have ever eaten. The salsas are very good. The prices were very reasonable. We ate for less than 35.00 and that included a tip and a surcharge for using a credit card. I ordered sweet tea (we usually just drink water) and my husband ordered an extra side item! We will definitely return when in the mood for Mexican. read more

I'm all about honest reviews. We almost didn't go considering the previous reviews but it was closer than other Mexican restaurants so we took a chance. I'm not gonna lie the bearded guy in all the previous reviews... he's not friendly. But the food is really good. Our server was prompt and listened to what we wanted. I enjoyed the basic margaritas. They have a salsa bar that is awesome! Habanero salsa and salsa verde is amazing and yes extra baskets of chips are $2 but geez it's $2. We had a party of 6 and they gave us two baskets prior to any extra charges. If you order the fresh Mexican guacamole, add some salt and a squeeze of lime from the salsa bar and it's excellent. We were on vacation so I probably won't be back anytime soon but if I was, I'd go again. So get over any entitlement of super friendly service and go get you some yummy Mexican food. :) read more

The food was great and it was reasonably priced. I really thought the seats were cool - the back is made partially out of wooden barrels (or at least they are made to look that way). Even though I was in the mountains of western North Carolina, I reminded me of a quaint restaurant in Mexico. The food does not justify this behavior either. The place is a joke. Yelp needs the zero star option here. When an employee or owner acts as if the customer is doing them a favor by talking to them it is time to find other work. Nobody is entitled to my patronage. Avoid this restaurant. This was our first time to the Banner Elk area, and we were on our honeymoon. We stopped in for a margarita. When we sat down at the bar no one was there to greet us however an employee came shortly afterwards and asked if we were going to eat as he was picking up two menus from the host stand. We told him that we were just going to have a couple of margaritas, he actually threw the menus back down onto the host station and came around to the bar. We asked him for Margarita Menu and he quickly got an attitude like he was bothered that he had to walk around the bar to pick up the menu. After looking at it we ordered a pitcher of house margaritas. He quickly dumped two, premade bottles of Margarita mix into a pitcher and served it to us with two glasses with salt, he never asked us if we wanted to salt he just assumed. We didn't. After each of us took one sip of the drink we could tell that it was only mix, no tequila at all. When we asked him about it he said "everyone else loves it I don't know why you don't." He never offered us any other beverage he just stood there and looked at us or helped other customers. We finally told him that we were not happy with it and he said then don't drink it. This was absolutely a bad experience for us. I hope that someone from management will read this review and take the correct of measures needed to make patrons feel more welcome. The service was awful and our simple meal order was placed behind and delivered after 4 other tables were seated and served and only the nachos were worth eating. For a community known for their hospitality and benefit from visitors, you and your visitors deserve better or your friendly reputation will suffer from this place and its employees. My family and I were visiting from Florida. We have never been treated so poorly by an establishment. We vacationed here with the intention of supporting local businesses. However, was met with rudeness and disregard here at this restaurant. Every restaurant we visited in NC, had outdoor seating due to COVID. So, it was habit that I asked the manager if the outdoor area was available. She stated it was not. I only asked since there was no one outside eating, could my large family opt to eat there. It seemed safer since the restaurant was crowded. She, then told me no again then said rudely, that I could go eat at home. I asked to speak to the manager or owner. She started an argument with me, then yelled that she was the manager and the owner was her husband, and that she was not going to call him to come from the kitchen.
