It's been a while since I've written a Yelp review, but I wanted to drop in an excellent experience I had here bringing in some jewelry and silver coins we inherited. They didn't offer more than melt value for the jewelry, and they explained why, which was fine. The offer was fair for the melt value of the jewelry and the coins, and we ended up selling the coins but keeping our jewelry. The melt value of the silver was about $600, he offered $500 which was way more convenient than trying to sell it myself or drive all around the Bay Area trying to squeeze out an extra $20. the owner of 30+ years (Bob) is a very nice guy. and more than knowledgeable when it comes to anything coin or precious metal related! although some times (mainly when you are selling something) he will use said knowledge and low ball you a bit because "he has to make a few bucks" which is understandable.. but a few times I brought coins that are considered collectible and the quote I recieved every time was " melt price " .. then next week I see them in his display case priced at double of what he paid me. it's just business, I know... but you don't have to get over on people. that's just my $0.02 cents.. I called these guys to sell some silver coins and was offered 15-17X face value. Which was weird being every other shop I called gave me just one number and it was alot higher than theirs. Two shops in Marin offered 22x face value. Finnaly went to shop in Mill Valley called Pacific Precious Metals. Good people. Good luck shop around lots of money to be made I guess its hard for some people to stay honest. This shop was by far the lowest I talked to all day. read more

I've been hoodwinked! I tried to go to a local and established dealer. I figured this buyer was the lesser of two evils. You're taking $3 off of spot price? REALLY? Then you cheated me out of another dollar because you'd assumed I did not know where silver had closed for the day. But I was aware of the spot price before walking in. THAT WAS A TEST! We have information in the palm of our hands; they're called smart phones with mobile Internet browsing. In my opinion the only place to go with old jewelry and coins, Bob and his son are always super friendly and willing to talk about whatever, gives you fair evaluations of whatever you bring in and is very knowledgeable about everything too so you know you aren't getting taken cause he will if you want explain the prices for everything you are selling. Love that he's a local guy and passing his knowledge down to his son who will do very well for himself with such a great role model to teach him.
