O k not sure where to start, but it was not a good experience. I had an appointment to turn in a prescription for my 17 month old. When I got there, the first thing that happened is they wouldn't open the door because the lady wasn't ready for customers 2 minutes before appointment. It was cold and windy and I had my 17 month old in the stroller. The girl was very upset that I knocked on the door and said she needed time to get ready. I was only 2 minutes before my appointment at 9 AM. She was extremely rudeness not happy when she finally let me in at 2 minutes before my appointment, I had to tell her that I didn't come there to argue with her I just needed to come in and sit because it was cold outside. Second she tells me. They don't have glasses for my daughter that the insurance my daughter has doesn't cover glasses that small? They didn't even have any to try so I could pay cash. I'm wondering why they didn't tell me that on the phone when I made the appointment they knew it was for a 17 month old baby, the worst about it is how rude the lady was when I got there. It was 2 minutes before my appointment. I could have put the baby back in the car and waited but I'd had to pack up the stroller get the baby out, put her in the car again. It was just ridiculous. There was no reason why I couldn't sit in the waiting area and wait 2 min I don't know why she was so rude to us. Horrible place I'll never go back. read more

Got my new prescription in no time. Amazing and kind doctor with excellent choice of glasses. Very affordable with HealthPlan Medical insurance. Pictures were 36$ of eyes which is pretty good. Atmosphere was nice in waiting room. And didn't really have to wait at all. Will see them next year :) read more

It was a terrible experience. I called and made the appointment and the same day the receptionist called me back yo ask me if I could bring my daughter in at a different time do to the doctor was t going to be there at the time they booked it. I of course said yes. We went in for the appointment and everyone looked at us with dirty looks. I said.. my daughter has an appointment and she said umm not here. you must have the wrong place. so I pulled out my phone and repeated their number back as well as showed proof that they called me back to reschedule. I felt completely uncomfortable at that point. they made me feel like I was the one lying. The doctor ended up seeing my daughter.. she was very short rude and was annoyed she had to take us for her receptionist mistake. she even was wearing her coat... like I get get but be a little more professional. I hated that this was my daughter's experience.. she is only 4. and yes she needed glasses! As she basically push us out the door.. her receptionist text message. At this point I ignored her. EVERYONE in this office was terrible. I have NEVER EVER written a review before, but this one I had to. I'm so disappointed with today's visit 11/22/2024. I had an appointment for Wednesday they called me to cancel last minute and I was ok with that no problem at all things happen. Got an appointment ASAP as I really needed this visit. I asked the receptionist about their grace period she said 15 mins. It is a very rainy afternoon and I drove safely took me a little bit longer than I expected. I got here at 4:13 when I had an appointment at 4:30 pm I know is Friday and they I mean the receptionist hated to have to wait for me. As soon as one of them opened the door for me she was really rude not even greeted me which made me very upset as I been a patient here sense I was 12 she knows all my family maybe she didn't remember me. Than the other receptionist said let me ask the doctor because you are late I said no I was told I can get here 15 mins late very rudely she got out her chair and left to ask Doctor. Doctor was so nice and apologized for having to cancel my appointment for Wednesday. I honestly felt so rushed to get my glasses that I preferred to just leave. I will now be going to another office as I honestly felt not welcome. read more

I was the last customer on a Friday evening I was greeted at the door . I was taking right in to start the eye tests for the peripheral . All the staff was friendly . The doctor was waiting for me when I got done with the test . I didn't want my eyes dilated and I didn't have the money in my pocket for the other test but they were that there was no problem they can come back and and take that test later at the doctor did all the other tests that she could do . She noted some concerns and just let me know when that good and I had the time I come back and take the test I can either get my eyes dilated for free or do the advanced test they have . There's no pressure they were completely understanding . And they gave me ample time to look for glasses and I could have gotten a pair of pretty close for free with my insurance but giving it was Friday evening and I didn't want to make a snap decision on glasses so I have to leave they gave me a copy of my prescription without any question and told me to come back whenever I was ready . So I understand some other people I've had a bad experience mine was completely opposite and everything was good start to finish . I'm going to go back and get my test and I would recommend anybody else that looking for an optometrist to go to this office I didn't have any issues at all . read more

I had the best experience here! The doctor explained everything which I loved because it was my first eye exam. I was having pain in the back of my eyes which I thought was due to migraines. Went in to see the doctor to find out my right eye was not as strong as the left causing strain. As soon as I got my glasses which took roughly 1 week I was good as new. I have not had eye pain since. I strongly recommend this location! You will need to make an appointment for everything from a doctors visit to picking up your glasses but I preferred this. This way when shopping for glasses you get 1 on 1 help and aren't bumping into one another. read more

She is very patient when it comes to dealing with children and making them feel comfortable. I went to this provider about 16 months ago. I have been to many eye doctors in various cities that I have lived in before. Since I live locally and I am with Contra Costa Health Care group, I choose this local provider. I had my eye exam with the doctor and we were speaking about many things related to the Asian culture. I was then asked to go out into the waiting area lobby. I sat there for quite some time 15 plus minutes and never hearing a word about the next step. Finally I asked the receptionist what are we doing? She asked me if I wanted to pick out a frame. ???? I asked about my coverage and about how much frames were. I believe she stated about $200 plus and my coverage was $50. I said no thank you and left. I NEVER even got my RESULTS of my eye exam! Are you kidding me?? A few months later thinking about all of this. I had to call them for my results?? They did not provide me any of eye exam test results at the time of my visit and all they wanted to do was sell me a high dollar, high profit frame from them ?? HUH!! NO EXCUSE for this! I will never go back to this provider because of them not providing a client the eye test results at the time or even after their initial and only visit. I stumbled upon this place on Yelp! Dr. Nguyen is wonderful. Not only is she professional, but she is very personable and easy to communicate any of my concerns. As a working student at the time, I expressed my budget and my current contact/glasses circumstance. I have always dreaded getting my eyes checked--the difference between "Can you see clearer in A or B?" has always been minuscule that I've had poor experiences where I could almost hear the frustration in my previous optometrists tone. What I appreciated was she was real and patient with me. Ultimately, I upgraded to a different contact lens for my astigmatism and as well as choose the cutest MaxMara glasses. Dr. Nguyen even price matched an examination rate and offered me a student discount so that Vallejo Optometry Group would become by one stop shop for all things eyes. Big thank you! Also, I had an encounter where months after I broke my glasses (left them out for my little nephew to break the arm), and they gave me VERY reasonable options to repair it as opposed to getting a new one altogether. Thank you for saving me $$$! Service: great. They staff have all be very welcoming and accommodating. When shopping around for the perfect glasses, the ladies were right there with me choosing and filtering through my options until I found the perfect ones to frame my face! Hours: They have lunch from 1pm-2pm and have shorter hours on Saturdays. They are closed Sunday and Monday. Otherwise they are open from 9am-5pm. Parking: shared open lot. read more

I give them a 2 star because they're nice. As far as their communication and accountability it's not there. Please don't look at their hours of operation on their door or when you look them up. They close when they want to. I spoke to them yesterday and confirmed that I would stop by there today and although the door and website says they close at different times the lady said they're closing at 12:30. Arrived at 12 and they were already closed. Friday they were closed earlier than advertised. A few weeks ago they told me my stuff would be here the following week on Tuesday. I wait an additional 4 days and came on that Saturday for my daughter's appointment and they said no it's not here. No communication to tell me that it had not arrived when they told me it would. This is not the first or second time they said they would be there and they were not. Also a lot of time when you call they'll have it as if they're closed for a holiday, but there's no holiday. I've been going to this place since I was a teenager. Went there recently just to pick something up. I was told there was no appointment necessary since I was just picking something up they could just hand it to me outside the door. I went to pick up and the male doctor was very rude. I explained why I was there and he said I needed an appointment. So I went home and called their office to make an "appointment" to pick up what I needed. I got there and knocked on the door. The assistant walked up to the counter, picked up my item, opened the door, handed it to me and said "here you go" and was about to lock the door. I said "really, you couldn't hand this to me earlier? There were no patients when I got there the first time. No one patients even waiting outside except for me. So I've now switched to another optometrist and I'm happy I did. read more

I think the complaints about the staff are b/c there is a language barrier so it makes it difficult to understand each other. That is not their fault so no stars against them. They do their best to help you but a simple reminder is something everyone needs once and a while. I only had to follow up once in seeing them after 4 years about my glasses. Not sure why anyone says they are expensive but I think the prices here are the best i've found. I've been to Napa and San Francisco offices that charge more. The glasses selection also isnt over priced like these other offices, its not the largest so i usually look elsewhere and have them order the frames i like with my prescription. If you see something you like elsewhere or online they can usually order you the frames you want, and again, they dont over charge for that. I did comparisons with other offices in South San Francisco and a San Francisco office i've been to and those offices were going to charge me $140 or more than what this office was. dr. Is really nice. She always make me comfortable. I think their equipment is dated and they should get better equipment/technology. They have taken the longest with the eye exam. The other offices have newer technology and we seem to zip through my exams faster than when im here. read more

I have been jumping from commercialized eye doctor to "last resort" eye doctors. Any one that didn't have me spending a fortune for glasses or contacts. I also felt that there was no connection to my doctors. It was get in, exam, and then leave. I felt that I went to places that were way too busy and just not enough attentiveness. I was recommended Vallejo Optometry Group by my sister. One of the biggest pluses was that the office is open for first time exams on Saturday. I called on Friday and got one of the first appointments the next morning. Dr. Nguyen is definitely a keeper. Just from her initial greeting all the way to my fitting of my contacts, she kept me smiling, laughing, and very informed of what was going on with my vision. I can see why she is popular with her patients. She has personality and she engages you, especially in keeping you in the know of your vision. So this review is almost two years old but that's how long it's taken me to be in the position to review. This was the worse place I have ever visited. My whole exam was sloppy and unprofessional which made me very uncomfortable. I had some vision issues which was supposedly checked and unsubstantiated. My prescription was not right and I went back in to have them adjusted but it was never ok. This was in March of 2018. I continued to have vision problems so in May I went to my doctor And stated that I had my vision checked but was still having problems. I go to see the ophthalmologist he takes one look at my eyes and goes you need surgery ASAP! He asked who checked my vision because this problem didn't develop overnight. I began having intermittent blindness close to my surgery date which kept getting cancelled due to insurance until my brain surgeon went to bat for me. I had the surgery and my vision was restored. Also the ophthalmologist checked my prescription and found it to be wrong. I went to my old optometrist for my new prescription and right away she called the ophthalmologist stating I needed a check up due to some inflammation. She stated my condition is very easy to diagnose and does not know how this woman missed it. Don't go here go elsewhere. read more

I never wore contact prior to now. Dr. Nguyen made sure that I was comfortable with the contacts the were ordered. We went through several different brands over several weeks. Dr. Nguyen was very patient, even when I decided I wanted color contacts which meant trying another brand. It was great that I could come in on Saturday or they had one late evening a week. I got what I wanted and am very happy with my new look. If you don't want to waste time and want great personal attention go see Dr. Nguyen she's the greatest! read more
