Dr. Lake just finished surgery on close friend and I cannot speak highly enough of how this man has come through not just professionally but has gone ABOVE AND BEYOND for his patients. My Friend (AA)has been through multiple surgeon consults, he somehow found Dr. Lake and immediately after his first consult with Dr. Lake he turned to me and said " thats my fucking surgeon" Dr.Lake not only exemplifies amazing bed side manner( and I say that as a healthcare professional myself) he never gives up he always continously guides the most resistant patients( due to past bad experiences with other surgeons) and he does it with such calmness charm and finesse. HE IS THE DEFINITION OF A PROFESSIONAL. He actually cares. My friend got his surgery done on MediCal for christ sake, and the level of care was emaculate. My friends surgery was 9 hours and after the surgery you would think the surgeon would be tired or just wants to give you the news and get out of there, nope this man was smiling sat with us and joked and comforted us- true professional and good human in every senses. The nurses also at valley cedar sinai will tell you the same. He knows how to get the most apprehensive resistant patients to comply. Thats an art they dont teach in med school, you either have it or you dont. Dr Lake was nice enough although he had quite a bit of disbelief about my medical history until I showed him photos. The nurse with orange hair was sweet. The three stars are for lack of action on Dr Lake's part-he told me to just live with my health problems. But most especially, zero stars for the receptionists. So rude and passive aggressive!! Best doctor ever. Lots of Monty Python and princess bride voices references and humor were used. "Want to know the best thing about this?" "What?" "It's happening to you, not me." But it wasn't that bad. Totally tolerable and great care shown. Got me in to deal with an emergency that would have killed me anywhere else. Urgent care wouldn't do it. Dr. Lake is a legend at what he does professionally. I had a really bad case of diverticulitis with a couple leaky abscesses. I was in pain for pretty much July 23 to May-24. After surgery on May 1st i am no longer in pain. It's been 5 weeks and I'm feeling great! I can now eat anything I want and there won't be consequences. I am now regular going to the bathroom. Dr lake is really skilled, kind, funny and tremendous bed side manner, which is what u want with scary surgery. Dr lake is where you want to be if you have gastro issues. I was very impressed at my first visit. The office is one of the nicest looking ones I have ever seen...very clean and tidy. You can tell they take really good care and pride of their office. Many pictures on the wall, which just adds a healthy touch to the place. It really makes you forget why you are there in the first place. I personally saw Dr. Daniel Gingold (there are two other doctors that work here) and he was quick and to the point in regards to my issue. He remained objective the entire time, to get to the bottom of the complaint, without beating around the bush. He was quick and thorough. They are both very busy but still take the time to have a fun conversation, my wife and I think they are awesome. With extensive experience dealing with a specific colorectal issue, I'd like to share my experience at this office. After hours of emergency room visits, cat scans, probing, etc. I decided to book an appointment with Dr. Gingold -- of course, due to being busy, I had to wait a couple weeks. However, after 10 minutes in his office and minimal pain, he informed me that I had an anal fissure. I'm working on healing naturally with ointments and a regimen recommended by Dr. Gingold. Eighteen and a half years ago Dr. Headrick saved my a**. During surgery to repair an anal fissure he discovered anal skin cancer at a different location from the primary site of my cancer. I believe another surgeon who wasn't as careful as Dr. Headrick might have missed it. I have seen him every year since surgery and he has performed several colonoscopies over these years. Yesterday his office squeezed me in to see him because I had what turned out to be a minor problem. I always find him to be friendly, slow, deliberate and he listens. I had a medical issue that I promptly needed looked at right away yesterday. The receptionist listened to what I was experiencing and was able to squeeze me in same day. Since the doc was expected to be in surgery the next 10 days. Dr. lake was very thorough, more so than any doctor I've been too. And provided a reasonable solution that seems to be helping. I called Marissa to make an appointment, I asked if they take insurance and she asked for my policy number. She confirmed that would be no problem. She scheduled me for a week out, I drive to Encino I go up to my appointment only to find out that they don't take my insurance. Why would the girl that takes care of this be so inconsiderate and unqualified. Obviously if this is example of the back office, then I choose to bring my business elsewhere. Came here thanks to a recommendation of a surgeon to see Dr. Lake. I wrote a review about Dr. Lake on his yelp page so you can read more there, but to summarize it, Dr. Lake is amazing. This review is more on the center. I have to say at first it was a bit rough to make an appointment, which I believe was due to confusion about insurance, but once I made my appointment everything was easy after. The office is very clean, and I like how it is organized. I enjoy how they call the day before to remind of appointments, especially since sometimes you can forget the time of an appointment. I have to say there are also some nice nurses there. There is this one nurse there, who I am unsure of her name, but she is a big sweetheart. Every time I came to the office with my mom, she was always super sweet, and would great us with a smile. Even when she was in the examining room, she would always smile if you looked her way, and would make you feel really comfortable. Honestly even though I came here for a unpleasant reason, I am so happy with the amazing work Dr. Lake did, and also how this situation was made better by the nurse also. read more

Dr. Gingold gave me my life back. I had been suffering from an anal fissure for 4 weeks. The pain was excruciating every time I had a bowel movement. My UCLA gastroenterologist prescribed diltiazem for me which did not work and was causing burning and irritation. The UCLA colorectal surgeon was not available for another month. I found Valley Colorectal through my insurance company and was so lucky to be able to secure an appointment with Dr. Gingold fairly quickly. I came in on a Monday and told him how I had been suffering. He explained that Botox could be the next step before surgery. Dr. Gingold was very thorough and explained the pros/cons of botox and surgery and like how others have described, he drew out a diagram of how both procedures would work. His office was amazing and was able to procure the Botox immediately and I was able to get the injections on Thursday of the same week. I was anxious that the injections would be very painful but Dr. Gingold was amazing -- the shots were not bad at all and the Botox gave me my life back. It has been 10 days since the injections, the sphincter pressure has subsided significantly, the fissure has been able to heal and I no longer have pain when I have a bowel movement. He also prescribed me Nifedipine as an alternative to Diltazem and it works perfectly for me with no side effects at all. Thank you Dr. Gingold for giving me my life back! read more

I needed to get a colonoscopy and had been putting it off for years. I had heard horror stories and was terrified to do it, and to be put under anesthetic. My cost-sharing insurance also did not cover the procedure so I needed to self-pay. I called all around to various clinics and got the brush-off where they would say, "you have to come in for an exam, we won't give prices". Uh-uh! But when I reached Valley Colorectal Surgeons, Elaine the surgical coordinator answered the phone and she was a godsend. She was so friendly and helpful, and she listed out exact prices that would not be changed later. She answered all my questions and I just felt like it would all be ok. I knew this was the place to go. When I came in, Dr. Lake was amazing. (there are 2 other docs there as well) He was so calm and very friendly and professional and easy to talk to about this uncomfortable subject. Elaine then set up my procedure appt. Also, since I was self-pay, she arranged getting me a free prep kit for cleaning out the colon prior to the appt. that they had at the office. That way I did not have to go and get a prescription for it. I appreciated that so much. Elaine and the rest of the staff made sure I had very clear instructions on how to get prepared. Dr. Lake was there and did the procedure and it went really well (in spite of my nervousness). He explained everything and answered all questions, and gave me a complete copy of all that was found on the procedure. It was all over quickly. There was no pain at all before, during, or after the procedure. What a relief to get this done. I felt at all times that I was being cared for by real pros who also had a great care factor. About one month ago, I had inguinal hernia surgery and as a result of it, I got the side effect of horrible painful hemorrhoids. I went to see Dr. Daniel S. Gingold, and he recommended that I should try natural ways of healing by eating lot of dietary fiber, Sitz bath, warm washing, and using over-the-counter medications like Camolseptine and Recticare oilments; and after three weeks or so, I am fine with hemorrhoids.
