Getting a regular cleaning, like I HAVE BEEN EVERY 6 MONTHS, was described to me as "it will not do you any good to get a cleaning. It's like waxing a dirty car. It makes no sense". I went to him for about 14 months I believe and he also had me go to physical therapy (I was in the 5% that had to, so no worries it's not common) and my life did a 180°. I am full range of motion, no more pain, and the splint I wear changed the way I use my jaw. This man is magic, I swear to god. His office is quite kind. He can come off as short, but don't let him fool you, he is quick and efficient for a reason. I go about once a year now for a check-up and I couldn't be happier. I can't imagine my life without his treatment. 500% recommend (as long as you can afford it).

Go ahead and make your appointment six months in advance, and be sure that you got the time and date correct. When you get there, they will tell you that you have the wrong date.
