It's been a really long time since I have been here and it's definitely been updated a ton. It's really nice and clean. We went to the movie theater and the movie seating was pretty good and the employees were kind and helpful. I don't live close but I'll definitely stop by again when I am in the area to check it out some more. read more

Not sure what to really say about this mall. It is spacious but had an odd variety of stores in it. Maybe just not my taste? I went on a weekday and it was pretty empty with many of the smaller stores closed. I walked the entire mall in less than 30 minutes because there were few stores that grabbed my attention. But the mall was clean and spacious as I said. There was seating in the common areas and it was comfortable. read more

I'm very distraught about the events that took place last night at your mall. And I'm very appalled at what has been done and who you've contracted with. I am handicap and it's very clear that you do not want handicapped people visiting your establishment. And as the west valley police also told us that you don't want anyone under 18 at your establishment. It's clear that you are very biased and need to have your values looked at. You have hired a very predatory towing service to scan your lots like sharks. And they are very vicious! Which is against the law. Since I am handicap I have to have my husband take me and go with me everywhere. We went into hobby lobby last night and shopped around. We were parked in a regular stall. During our shopping be had to run and pick up and order we had elsewhere. So he pushed my cart up front to be put on hold while he left so I could easily pick it up upfront to check out since I'm in a wheelchair and cannot push it around the store. When he came back to get me, he parked in a handicapped spot so I could get in the car easily. I do have a handicap placard. Well, when I went to check out the store had put half of the items in my cart back. I was upset about it since it had taken over an hour to shop for those items. I called my husband out in the car to try to remember what items we had in there. Me was very upset about it and said he would run right in. I'm the meantime he forgot to put up my handicap placard. He ran into the store for 5 minutes. As he was coming back out they were hooking up our car to tow away. He yelled at them to stop and they hurried faster to pull it away. To say the least we were so upset at this. There was no way to find out where our car had gone and we were stuck in the parking lot with nothing. My purse was in the car along with my medication and oxygen. As well as my husband's wallet. And there were several other older ladies in the parking lot upset that their cars had also been towed. We were all crying making a huge scene to all who watched and we were telling everyone not to shop there because the mall was towing all the cars away to who knows where. Not even a phone number on the sign to call. What a freaking joke! And when we did finally get a number they told us they didn't know about our car and to call back in 15 minutes. Little did I know that they would be closed in 15 minutes. Just a ploy to get is to have to make an apt to pay more money after hours to get our car. Well we were far from home and had no way to go anywhere. We had to wait 45 minutes for my daughter to come get us. And while we waited in that parking lot we watched many tow trucks just swarming the lots and going up to every car that parked and take pics of their placard. What an illegal activity this is. We have been doing our research and have gotten an attorney. We are also contacting all the news channels to broadcast what a corrupt practice this is that this mall is doing. And very against all ada practices. We had to pay $450 to get our car back. And that was after many mean and rude comments from the towing company trying to make us to pay more by lying to us about where our car was. Not to mention that I had to go without my medication, inhaler and oxygen for an extreme about of time. I can't believe that you would purposely do this to handicapped people. We have no extra money to pay for this. This is going to cause extreme hardship for us. I needed to go to the dr yesterday for some pain but decided against it because we didn't have the money for it. I would like you reimburse us for the $450 dollars that we had to pay for this nightmare. That you caused. Older, handicapped people don't always remember to put up their placard. Give us a second try. Even give a ticket or a boot on the car. That way I would have been able to get my necessary medication and inhaler and oxygen. I'm going to make sure everyone hears about this and does not go shopping there. read more

Giving this mall two stars is generous. But I can see the potential. The mall lay out design isn't even that bad it actually nice. Has a stone and brick theme throughout the mall. What gets me is the store selection. The store selection is not good at all. Looks like they struggle to attract good stores. Theirs nothing here that's worth visiting really. They do have a nice open Mega plex here but it's not enough to drive to this mall when there are closer and better locations. (Mega plex is the best part of this mall.) the location of the mall is sketchy and you know it's sketchy when every store in this mall has a camera sign on the clothing racks. The value of stores here is probably a 2 out of 10. The service is awful the employees are on their phones as you walk in and remain on their phones. I don't recommend this mall unless you want to watch movie. Other than that this mall is not worth it. read more

No, it's not the best mall around, and sure, the selection of stores is more akin to a swap meet than your typical mall ha, but I quite enjoy coming here with the fam every once and a while ! Valley Fair is the mall that time forgot ... but the locals didn't. Even in the middle of a weekday, the parking lot is packed. So is the Red Robin and the Ross Dress for Less. Even the inside of the mall is hopping. The thing I like most about the mall is it has a uniquely West Valley City feel. You'll find a strong influence of the immigrant community with the part-Catholic gift shop, part Quinceañera dress store known as The Bazzar. There's one of the best soccer shops in town, Castro Sports. There's the authentic Mexican food of Tacos Daniel. There's the wonderful part Asian-influenced, part gift shop, part knife shop, part toy store known as J&D gifts. There are also the businesses that help make a mall great: A really big and clean Ross Dress For Less; a gigantic, newly refurbished Megaplex Theater; the gigantic carousel past the food court; in my opinion, the best set of sports merchandise stores in town; and, this time of year, the grandiose Christmas decorations. Unfortunately, the stores without a strong pedigree don't do as well. The Pop'nSweets has so little merchandise the store looks looted. I've walked past the LA Cuts three times and have yet to see a customer. The VR Junkies arcade is a ghost town. And one other beef: I went into five different stores that said "NO FOOD OR DRINK" ... one of them was the ARCADE! Whatever the store, you CAN'T SAY NO FOOD OR DRINK IN A MALL! If you're working on a tight budget but still want to have a good time or have a large brood that you want to take out for some fun, or maybe you just appreciate being frugal, then you need to check out the Valley Fair mall Movies 9 theater for a super cheap date night or thrifty family fun night. It's easy to over look for the massive Megaplex with their mega-prices, mega advertising and mega concession offerings on the other side of the mall. But worth the effort to walk the extra ~100 yards. After viewing your flick, skip into some cheap eats at the food court. Maybe hit up an old time favorite like the Hot Dog on a Stick or DQ - OrargeJulius for some nostalgic treats. read more

I only come to this mall in the winter when I'm craving swap meet-esque shopping. Lots of weird stores you've never heard of, and even weirder products at some of them. I saw a stuffed monkey toy called a "Mushabelly Chatterfloppy" there once that had a stocked on its stomach that said "squeeze please for a grumble" but it sounded more like a fart than a grumble. There are a couple of beauty shops that have cheap deals on fake eyelashes and I go there when I need to stock up. Other than that, I try to avoid this mall. read more

It's annoying and rude that security yells and herds folks out of the food court at straight up 9pm. Come on, let folks finish. Close the gate if you must, even don't let new people in. But leave the current diners alone. This mall is doing better in recent years, but still has a long way to go. Adding all of the new surrounding eateries and businesses just took money OUT of the mall. Weird strategy. Some good thing at this mall.. -the new Megaplex. -kids love the carousel. -hot Latinas everywhere. -many businesses are locally owned. The bad.. -many businesses are locally owned. -some patrons will stare or even glare at gringos. -the $1.50 theater is a bad joke. -the cracked and filthy parking lot. -inside still feels old and tired. -the mall is too dimly lit, with an oddly empty feel. -honestly, most of the stores here suck. This is the low-budget mall in the SLC area, and it shows. But it makes for interesting people watching and a healthy variety of eateries. But actual shopping here rarely happens for me. read more

Despite being on of the oldest malls in the country Valley Fair Mall has been remodeled and updated in the past few years and is looking really good both inside and out. With big stores like Macy's and JCPenny, and a Costco nearby, more and more people appear to be shopping at Valley Fair Mall. Unfortunately beyond a few big stores the mall doesn't have much else that interests me. There aren't many "brand name" stores in the mall. Instead, most of the stores are one-offs, unique to the Valley Fair Mall, many of which seem to cater to the Latino community. Sadly you won't find a Gap, American Eagle, Banana Republic, Eddie Bauer, or Victoria's Secret or most of the other stores you'd expect to find at other mall. Valley Fair Mall just doesn't have the draw to have bigger names stores I guess, which is too bad. Best to go to Fashion Place Mall if you want the standard mall stores. read more

Mall itself is a mixed bag. Nice food court. Cheap movie theatre plus a modern deluxe theatre. Stores are pretty janky and random. Hallways completely depressing and sparse. This mall seems to be collecting all the used children's novelty rides from across the country; they're stuffed into every nook and cranny here. My kid loves it. *shrug* Outside the mall proper there's an assortment of newer brand name stores. Bed Bath and Beyond! Take me away! These outlying stores seems to be where the life is. I imagine them as a flock of vultures getting fat off the diminishing corpse of the mall itself, which miraculously continues to pump blood despite a lack of most necessary organs. read more

This post is highly influenced by my experience in respect to Charley Salon in the Valley Fair mall shopping center. Let's start by saying they have a Friendly staff. I was walking in the shopping center and as I walked by said what the heck. Got a nice trim. BUT when the I noticed that the ladies' mask that was cutting my hair fell below here nose I respectfully asked if she would cover it, especially since we were in such close quarters. She did so, but this was followed by reasons why we should not worry so much about COVID. As the mask slowly fell down her nose again, she did not replace it. Moreover, as some younger guys came in for their haircuts. Their masks were also put so that their noses were exposed. What's the point!?! They were not told by the staff tending to them to cover up. I put this out there because it's important to know. Friendliness will not make up for what I consider to be pandemic manners. My future purchases will support those businesses that are mindful of this. I also went to Eyebrow Spa 24. Here, the ladies had good mask etiquette. read more

For the most part, malls are all very similar, plenty of Phone, Shoe, and Clothing stores as well as a food court, Valley Fair has all that. The food court is a bit slim but they have most of the usual suspects, Asian, Italian, Greek (Mexican closed down and moved out) and Orange Julius and Hot Dog on a stick. Of course, they have several phone stores, what mall would be complete without those? Plenty of shoes can be found from athletic sneakers to dress up western boots. Clothing is abundant as well especially when you add in the anchor stores Ross and JCPenny. I noted there were more than a normal number of stores selling formal wear, many/most with a slant to the Latin style. Uniquely, Valley Fair included a well-stocked arcade which included several high-quality pinball machines, and the cost to play was reasonable. Additionally, this mall includes a rare find, an old school toy store, Hammonds. read more

For being a mall in one of the biggest cities they should expand and make it bigger adding more stores/ food options so more people can come shop and enjoy their time here instead of having the reputation of being "ghetto" read more

I have not been to this mall in several years! They recently hosted the Wasatch Comic Con which drew me in. I was so surprised! I remembered it as kind of going down hill last time I was there but it really seems to have improved - a LOT! The event itself was amazing! Family Friendly and free to attend. The place was packed! But not in a negative way.. it was just fun. A lot of work has been done, new stores added. The décor has been updated, I loved the Nerd Store! Had to make a quick stop at Ulta as well which is always a favorite. Bought some cool shoes too! I did not eat there but found several places that looked tasty. I will come back! I hope they continue to host these types of community events. The kids and I had so much fun and we managed to spend a lot of money for a free event (lol). read more

Valley Fair Mall gets a bad rap for being known as the Ghetto Mall or Latin Central, but it's not as bad as people think. The crowd is very diverse and half the stores are independently owned and ones you've never heard of, but that's what makes it unique. I mostly come to this location because it's close to home, there's a Macy's and a mini Sephora inside of JC Penney, there's a huge Megaplex theater, and there's a nice variety of fast food options. One of my favorite snack stands is Juicy's, located in the east end of the food court near the dollar theater. They've got Mexican candy and snacks like corn on the cob or cup, strawberries and cream and yummy drinks that are all inexpensive. read more

This mall might be "ghetto" because many none brand stores, most crowds are Hispanic, and people's cars had been break in before. Even when I was walking through the mall, I could hear people saying, "dang, rarely see Asian shop in here!" Sure, I am here for few reasons. One of greatest things in this mall is the FOOD! Diversity brings delicious authentic food! Hey Utahns, stop eating your greasy americanized mexican food and get your butt to food court! Ever had Mexican fruit cocktails? Sliced fresh fruits with chili powder! Also there is a juice bar here that press fresh fruits and vegetables! You can custom your own healthy juice too! Perfect for healthy freaks! Asians usually stay around the mall's main entrance because Asian App+. I love that place! This place serves fruit crepes, boba, Asian shaved ice, Asian Delights (chicken feet) and authentic Chinese soup noodles. I always get the hot sour soup noodles with pork intestine. Once a while, I would stop by The Nerd Store for some Collectibles. I am so glad this nerd store doesn't smell like unshowered nerds! I have been to almost every nerd stores in Salt Lake City and Provo, 95% of them smells! Megaplex is one of newest built megaplex. Comfy and cushioning seats with more legs room! Atmos sound system! Yep, there are places in here worth to explore! read more

I love the selection of restaurants at this mall and there are a few really good things about it I like, but there is also a ton of vacancy. I have heard that a majority of the stores that were here have gone out of business and I know that to be true of Macys which used to be here. I know they are now opening a Macys up at Fashion Place Mall though so that's a good thing and not far away. As far as stores I personally shop at, I wouldn't come here for much except JCPenneys and Bed Bath and Beyond. I shop at H&M, Forever 21, and some others that they don't have here, hence why it's not my favorite. The food options aren't bad though. read more

It's not a super mega high end mall and I'm ok with that. It caters to the community in which it is located and has a good variety of stores to choose from. They also have a lot of good places to eat and a great I-Max theater. Macy's just closed down (relocating to Fashion Place Mall) so I'm excited to see what they do with this big empty store. read more

This place is great for fast shopping and has stores for everyone that is going to buy stuff. The one things that's sucks about this mall is that a few weeks ago they been doing construction in the building and you can't get to the store called the bazaar anymore and that place is the only place to get snacks from and that why I am giving it a 4 star rating. Where to begin? I grew up in West Valley City in my teen years. And this mall was the happening place in the late 80's through early 90's. Tons of stores, a decent food court and Cinemark theaters with second-run features for a $1.00. I'm AMAZED that this mall (being the ONLY mall, really, on the lower West side of Salt Lake County) is such a pile of garbage. With the influx of people moving to the area and so much development and redevelopment, how is the Valley Fair Mall missing out on this? Granted, over the last few years, they have really tried to renovate the mall on the inside and out. Especially the exterior. There has been an addition of many new shops, eateries and a bank on the West side (and main entrance area) to Valley Fair Mall. With the addition of CostCo on the Southeast corner of the property, a new frontage road now runs along I-215 off of 3500 South on the East side of the mall. This provides better access. Especially to JCPenney, the new movie theater and the back entrance to the Valley Fair Mall which goes into the food court (and the still operational $1.00 movie theaters). And, get this, a West Valley Police Substation. That's a bad sign. With all the other construction going on in the vicinity (as well as new businesses now open in the area), I'm blown away that this mall seems to be nothing more than a polished turd. I blame bad mall management and poor planning and assistance from a corrupt city government. The area itself is the epicenter of West Valley City. West Valley City Hall sits right across the street to the West. A new hotel and a UTA hub for light rail and buses is RIGHT THERE, too. But I-215 is also RIGHT THERE to the East. That freeway will take you to better areas with better malls. The interior of the mall is a sad state of affairs. Very few brand name retail stores. But you'll find plenty of boarded up storefronts, cell phone kiosks and Asian and Hispanic outlet stores to suit your fancy. The Valley Fair Mall truly is a swap meet. Even the food court is missing several eateries. I also noticed that a couple of the former entrances/exits have been sealed off and have been made into makeshift seating areas with charming vending machines. What I found peculiar was the new movie theater. A former shopping area of the mall (the old Mervyn's) was demolished to build this new movie theater. So now, instead of walking a length of shops and whatnot to enter a Mervyn's, you now walk right into new movie theater (with IMAX). However, this theater just seems out of place considering what little business the mall appears to be doing. And any business they are doing, most of it seems to be going to this movie theater and nowhere else within the mall. Undoubtedly, this new theater was probably supposed to be one of the bigger draws for business to the Valley Fair Mall. But when I think of going to a film, it never occurs to me that this theater is there. Ironically, I know I can still go here for a $1.00 flick. Go figure. I'm not suggesting that you don't go to the Valley Fair Mall. It can be an interesting adventure and experience, to say the least. But this really isn't a mall. It's a FORMER mall which now leases space to those that are looking to cater to (mostly) immigrants that want cheap foreign goods, sundries, foods and irregular clothing. The Valley Fair Mall could be something really grand. A landmark and meeting place for a new, developing West Valley City. Sadly, it's just a stain on the continuing bad image of the area and a hollow shell of it's former self. read more

Two stars because it has I-max. I had not been here since the early nineties and still a ghetto type of mall. Outside of the mall they have added a lot of places to eat and shops like Ross. Inside tho it's one ghetto shop after another selling the same trash you can find at Gen X (are they still around?) It's like a higher step for an indoor swap meet. It seems there are 5 shoe stores that sell the same plastic shoes or glittery 6 inch stripper shoes. Seriously makes Payless look designer. The Macy's is nice and big and clean but empty. I guess its a great place for the mall rats in the area. Convenient that the court house is across the street and I had time to kill. I willl never be back. read more

I grew up going to this mall. It is a lot nicer than it used to be as far as looks go, but the stores could use some work. The larger stores on the ends are nice, but as far as the smaller stores it would be nice to upgrade some of those and get some newer more well known stores inside. Like another review stated, the smaller stores inside do seem to sell cheap things like clothing, toys, and items. The stores back in the day were better than they are now, but the building is nice. read more

I like this mall for the improvements they have made over the years. There is now even a Megaplex movie theater, and they added that without removing the dollar movie theater that has also seen some great renovations and is one of the nicest in the state. The stores are diverse and not all high-end clothing. While malls in general seem to be on the decline with the advent of online sales and the ever-expanding scope of big-box stores like Wal-Mart and Target, it is still a great place and I hope they are able to innovate enough to stay viable for years to come. Megaplex is a good sign that they're working on it. read more

Security at valley Fair Mall cornered me and my wife (a chemotherapy patient) while shopping for wigs to help her feel more confident, and insisted she had to remove her pink cancer cap or leave the mall with a security escort because it violated their dress code. read more

DO NOT BUY SHOES FROM SHOE OUTLET or D.C. WESTERN WEAR IN THE VALLEY FAIR MALL! My girls bought light up shoes and were excited about their purchase. Not even a week later one of the shoes stopped working. I took them back to the store and was told that they would not replace them. The shoes were worn. OF COURSE THEY WERE WORN! WE LEFT THE STORE WEARING THEM!! I talked to Fernando in the store and his son store owner, Freydsert over the phone in CA. and both were adamant that there return policy is I have to pay $18.00 for them to replace the defected shoe!!! Needless to say I was outraged at their lack of customer service. I am following up with the mall General Manager Jeff Bettinson tomorrow. read more

You'd expect a higher a rating from someone who spent their whole life there right? I remember going to this mall when I was about 4 Years old waiting on my mom to get out of work and watching movies with my grandma then getting my first job here at 16 and seeing the changes, yet, I still hate this mall. I'm not gonna get into the Christmas animal cruelty display as its not the season and it has been pointed out already. The stores in this place are just cheap and well ugly. There's only a couple stores you'll recognize. Zumies, jcpenney, Macy's and of course the wonderful megaplex. Sure there has been work done around it but the mall itself aside from the megaplex theater which I have a review of it's own (very different experince) I don't think all the money in the world can fix this place. The stores are bad the atmosphere is bad the service is bad. It's just not a pleasant place to visit. Never was. read more

As someone who grew up in "Ghetto" cities, let me tell everyone here in Utah- NOTHING in Utah is "ghetto", so stop saying things are ghetto here. Go to the cities I grew up in out east, and you'll really see ghetto. That being said, Valley Fair isn't a "ghetto" mall, it's just a low-budget mall. The mall definitely caters to it's neighborhood, and most of the conversations you'll hear in here are in Spanish.The majority of the stores are one-off shops that are self-owned. Every once in a while you'll walk past a name brand store, but mostly it's little one-man stores. That being said, you can get some amazing deals here. I'm shopping for a dress for an Arab wedding (they dress like they are going to the Grammy's for weddings), and I did not want to go to any of the stores downtown that are close to home because I knew it'd be expensive, so I came over here. I seriously found dresses that work fine for less than $50. I've never had a bad experience with any employees in this mall. There are some great food options in this mall, and the Megaplex is great and never packed like Gateway. It's definitely not my favorite mall in the area, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be. read more

Moved to UT from Cali & esp coming from L.A. you go hit up the malls. That was the first thing I had in mind when I moved to UT. When I first came here, I thought to myself, this mall is so ghetto with some of the cheap stores they have. Valley Fair Mall makes the Crenshaw Mall in Cali look better. No joke - I rather shop at a swap meet than this mall. A very boring atmosphere. Not a lot of good food court choices. Glad I'm moving back to Cali, where ill finally go to a real mall. read more
