Came and checked out Trolley Square today. It has changed a bit since I was here in October. Relocation of some stores. Still a good part of this venue is still empty. Hoping it will eventually fill up soon. Such a neat location. My husband got to check out the train that you can see from the second floor. He appreciated the old car that was on display. It was his first time there and he had a fun time checking it out. Hoping the next time we come in there will be more stores and things to look at. Also some more dining options! But today's visit was great! The flowers were so pretty to look at inside and outside the venue. I look forward to coming back if we are in the SLC area again. read more

Old repurposed trolley garage. Pretty cool. A lot of eclectic shops in the garage and a couple of restaurants. The water tower, brickwork, wrought iron & fixtures appeared to be from the original construction. Ceilings still held rails for the trolleys to be moved around the garage. There were an abundance of other shops in the square. William-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Whole Foods & Orange Theory to name a few. Definitely high in the coolness scale. read more

This is a charming, historic, little shopping/dining complex that I got to explore while in SLC. Actually, I lucked into it, given that my choice for lunch at Won Won happened to be one of its featured restaurants. Trolley Square is considered a trendy high-end lifestyle destination, with mixed indoor and outdoor areas...which is always fun. It also features quaint, old fashioned props here and there, including the historic weather forecast tower, a water tower...and of course, the trolley car. I even found a statue of Lincoln inside! Honestly, there aren't that many shops and restaurants here. Limited, but still some great, interesting selection. For some random reason, I spent too much time in the Himalyan Artswear, but there were some eye-catching shops, like We Olive and Tabula Rasa! One thing that puzzled me was how a mainstream store like the Pottery Barn ended up here? Anyway, I don't regret a minute I spent browsing through this unusual complex. I only wish I took a few more pictures while here! read more

My wife and I live in Herriman and we love driving to Salt Lake and also going through Trolley Square. It's an awesome little cozy shopping area with restaurants in it. The stores here are not main streamed or big box stores, they are more indie/small business shops. Just walking around this shopping place is relaxing. We love the vibe that this place brings, not to mention that there is a whole foods grocery as well as good eating places as well. I remember back in 2012 when I used to live in Salt Lake and went to school in the area, I would always drive to this place since this was one of the only places that had a Bank of America ATM lol. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone. read more

A few vacant shops but it looks like Trolley Square is on the way up rather than on the way down. This beautiful structure isn't the usual chain stores and coffee shops. It looks like they're each unique one-offs and curious little stores and that's pretty cool. Being anchored by Pottery Barn and Whole Foods should hopefully help to bring in some higher end spending. We managed to find street parking but there is also a large lot across the street with a pedestrian bridge. read more

Trolley Square is a little bit of history, a little bit of nostalgia and a little bit of shopping-all rolled into one. I can remember coming here when I was a little girl and love the airy, outdoors-meets-indoors architecture. There are a few staple shops that keep people coming in and then there are some more unique and unusual shops that keep things interesting. Sadly, there are also lots of empty stores and long hallways of nothing. It's got a little bit of a depressed feeling. I'd love to see the place perk up a bit and get some more traffic. There's potential! Whenever I visit, I feel like I'm supporting local artists or shops. That may not may not be true, but that's the vibe that Trolley Square gives off to me. Trolley square was so unexpected. I only stumbled upon it as I was going shopping at Whole Foods. The parking was very easy to navigate and the square had so many other stores to walk around and check out. I loved all the decorations and lights at night. I only wish I had more time to explore. The hours are so random here. The Whole Foods did open a little later then other places so that worked out. My photography group got kicked out of the mall by security for "dressing like animals" (wearing little ears and fun makeup) even though we had filled out all the relevant permits for photography in the space. They pretended we had never submitted our permits, ignored our photographer's proof, and told us we had to leave. Nowhere in the agreement was there any clause about "dressing like animals" or anything relevant, but be aware that this space is not a friendly one for photography or photoshoots, and security is very happy to flaunt their authority and turn out anyone they don't like the look of. Will not be returning, felt very unwelcome. The money I and my small, unobtrusive group would have spent today will be going elsewhere. read more

This is a cute little indoor/outdoor promenade in SLC. While the selection of stores aren't quite that vast, there is enough to keep you entertained for an hour. At the time, the Sundance Film Festival Box Office was based there. Right outside the box office, they had a tiny space for an area for souvenir shopping (for Sundance). Inside they had a trolley and the history of the building. The lights inside as a decorative piece was just beautiful. They also had a model of what the station used to look like. It was an actual trolley station. You can see some of the trolley aisles and station numbers, which was cute. There's a museum in there, but I didn't know until later. They're open at night anyways. The building itself is amazing. They had a couple of gift shops there and a bookstore, some local shops and a few name brand speciality stores. It looks like you really have to know what's in here to go here and shop. The gift shops are weird. I was looking for a SLC mug and kept finding "SL,UT" mugs. It's funny, but not something I'm getting for my mom :/ I needed some more PG type of souvenirs. It's a cute place and I'd like to try the restuarants there. Take a look at what they have there before you go shopping. Otherwise, go check out the building. It's pretty cool! read more

I used to have a clothing store here for almost ten years and when the shooting happened they treated all the local businesses like shit. So haroons, and sharper image and me left. Now the place has tried to pump money into with arts like live music on Friday nights. Whole foods is there. Twc wing place has a huge patio. Rodizio grill, desert edge brewery and spaghetti factory are places to dine. Parking is tough but they have a parking garage on the west side. Trolley has always been a cool place. Such a fun environment! There are food options and it is fun to just walk around and explore the Knick knack shops. They are also putting in a museum to learn about Trolley Square that has an amazing photo opp place. Parking is easy around the building or on the street. read more

There's lots to like about Trolley Square. The collection of shops here barely qualifies as "mall shops." Oh sure, you've got some bigger corporation stores, but they've all got a touch of class to them; these are stores that won't be found just anywhere. I also love the small, unique shops. I spent waaaay too much time walking around them last weekend. The layout here is also unique, sort of half indoor shopping center/half tiny European streets with a roof. Fun. I was surprised to find covered parking available underneath the shopping center. We opted to park ourselves and take an elevator up, but they do offer valet parking in the main lot along 700 East. It is true that Trolley Square has had some hard years. Both the economy and history have taken their toll here, but the feeling I get is that chapter has closed and things are on the bounce back. The empty stores will fill. You can grab a bite to eat here, just walk the shops, or do a little of both. Here's to many more years of shopping at Trolley Square! read more

Very nice building with a lot of interesting history. Rodizio Grill (Brazilian Steakhouse) is located here. This is actually the reason why we came here. Some other fun shops are here, too: Cabin Fever (novelty store), coffee shop (can't remember the name), etc. Sadly, there are A LOT of vacant stores. Trolley Square isn't as popular as it has been in prior years due to the shooting that happened a little over 10 years ago. There aren't a ton of shops here, but the ones that are here are incredible! I love the Spaghetti Factory, and I really enjoy all the unique stores that are here and the finds I bring home. Trolley Square is one of my favorite places to frequent when I can. The history behind it is incredible, and although it has had a little bit of darkness, it is still beautiful and memorable. There is a lot of free parking around so that is a huge bonus because there aren't many places in Salt Lake that don't require a fee of some sort. During the winter they put up a giant Christmas tree that is gorgeous to take photos with. There are a lot of photo worthy places inside the mall itself which is worth nothing. I hope one day Trolley Square will thrive again to its true potential! read more

Trolley Square is a great shopping area not too far from downtown. It reminds me of a shopping are near Highline in NY with the industrial design. There are high and low end stores. The Tabula Rasa store was a wonderful place to buy books of all genres, stationary, and lotions. I bought a children's book for my best friend's baby shower, and they wrapped it beautifully with copper paper. If you like funny shirts with memes, there's a store for that, too. I wish I had more time to explore the other shops, but I had to catch a flight home and was limited on time during conference. I would love to come back when I'm back in town for vacation. read more

Trolley Square is an interesting complex because it has an old school charm that doesn't have that pompous attitude. This place is part mall part restaurant and part Whole Foods. Not a bad mix if you ask me. This place isn't the most buzzing with crowds and sometimes it feels like a ghost town, but it is nice to go to every once in a while to visit some of their stores such as: Cabin Fever, William-Somona, Pottery Barn, and The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. read more

It was nicely decorated for xmas, as well as offered a photo opportunity with Santa. I cannot find Himalayan Artswear on yelp! The store is so cool and the owner is an adorable woman who gets excited every time somebody comes in. There is real talent in the products and it is some place I would recommend anybody visiting Salt Lake City to see. Trolley Square is a sight and has many businesses. The little Knick Knack joke store has many gag gifts and funny post cards. Outside, there is a small train car made into a bar for those of you 21+. read more

I find Trolley Square to be very charming. I love the old brick and the feel of every store front inside is so unique. Even still, I can't help but feel so sad when I walk through this place knowing the events that took place here just a few year ago. I don't know if Trolley Square will ever be able to shed its reputation. I know I won't ever be able to visit without at least thinking about it. That being said, it really is a lovely shopping mall. I love the local retailers here such as The Spectacle and Cabin Fever. You can find so many interesting things and its a great place for off the wall Christmas gifts. Any mall that contains options for buying local is a win in my book. I'm exciting to see the change taking place here, especially the giant Whole Foods opening there. Trolley square is a beautiful historic area of downtown salt lake. The building is beautiful and full really interesting and niche shops. My favorite is the William-Sonoma store, full of fun kitchen gadgets, they even have free cooking classes every Sunday. I also really like the steampunk antique shop called The Machine Age. Overall, it is a really beautiful location, full of interesting specialty shops. It is a great place to stroll around in during winter time especially. read more

Historic renovated trolley storage yard and fun place to shop and eat. Decent restaurants (Rodrizio, Desert Edge, Hard Rock, Spagetti Factory, Green Street) fun shops and a good movie theatre. Don't miss Tabula Rasa, an excellent stationery (and more) store and the card shop across from it (can't remember the name...) and of course Black Chandelier. Free parking in adajcent lot and parking garage. I encourage you to frequent or return to Trolley, these businesses need our custom following the mass shooting. Note of Caution: Lock doors and do not take valuables in your car to Trolley. Car break-ins are notorious here, just be advised. That said, I am single and often go here on my own, and feel very safe. I will say I'm disappointed they took down some beautiful historic trees in their current 're-do' of the place, near Desert Edge and Green Street. Of course, they have the right to do what they want, but these trees were amazing in the summer, sitting out al fresco under their shade. Sad Sad Sad. read more

This is one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever been in. A book signing brought me here. There is everything you need. Cosset therapy bomb is the first thing you see as you enter from this end. Then an eyebrow and threading store. The most beautiful clothing boutique I've experienced. A fabulous indie bookstore on the other end. Kids were having a dance recital. It's huge. The bathrooms are roomy and have a code that you get from any store. There's a bunch of other things in what can be a maze. I'd move here just for this area. Very friendly people, too. read more

I'm not going to lie, seeing the average star rating of trolley square is.....painful. Although I'm not surprised, seeing as every time we drive by here my mom always says "that place is still around" I cringe. But she's not necessarily wrong. When you and your friends go to the mall (somewhere I detest being, let's be clear) you're usually not thinking Trolley Square. It's like the indie version of a mall. Stores here are....weird? Like there's not too much thought put into it. You have strange places like Cabin Fever, worthy of it's own review. You have higher end stationary shops like Tabula Rosa. You also have clothing stores, many local and William Sanoma. (Which I have fond memories of raiding their free peppermint bark display as a child) Intermixed with local restaurants, and a dash of pottery barn. It's weird and I'm pretty sure that's why I like it. I'm thankful it hasn't changed. Architecturally it's one of my favorite spots in Utah. It really is quite beautiful, and worth your time to check out. I'm thankful to the Whole Food's, which likely helps keep Trolley afloat. Trolley has undergone countless face lifts I believe in an attempt to draw people in. Sadly it's futile at best. And when you come in here, you'll see for yourself the lack of patronage. Hey! For someone who detests crowds like me, it's perfect. I can easily understand why Trolley yields so many negative reviews. It's not for everyone. But damn....it hurts. read more

A unique historic location for a shopping center. While visiting SLC about seven years ago, I stopped to see Trolley Square, and I recall there were vacant spaces then as well. It's unfortunate as this could be a nice place to wander through the stores. Most existing stores are high end with high prices. We wandered into Pottery Barn where my daughter found two beautiful leather chairs for her kitchen island at a sale steal, so the visit was worthwhile for her. read more

The building itself at Trolley Square is full of history and really spectacular. The stores making up the "mall" are some of my favorite - Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Tabula Rasa; not to mention Corepower Yoga, Lululemon and Whole Foods in the same city block. Upscale boutique mall are words that I would use to describe this place. Every other shop is vacant. The decor and ambience is on point and Saturday nights seem to be popping. If you're not from the area save yourself the trouble and you not going to Sunday because there's like nobody there. Even on a Monday afternoon some of the stores are closed. This is the type of law you go to with the purpose for buying something really specific not to really look around and do window shopping or for killing a lot of time. There were a couple of restaurants that smelled really delicious that I did not have the pleasure of trying. Restrooms are really nice not gender neutral, however the men's bathroom is a single stall so I guess anybody can go in there. read more

As a teenager I always though Trolley Square was lame, now as an adult I can appreciate it for it's old school charm and classy shops. I love just walking around in here, and I have only ever purchased sealing wax at Tabula Rasa. I am a little on the poor side as far as legit shopping goes, so most the time my trips here are to shop at Whole Foods. I had found the engagement ring I wanted at Payne Anthony, but the woman there was too much for me to handle so it never happened. I don't have kids, but I love looking in Pottery Barn kids and dragging my husband along with me to pretend like we will ever have $800 to spend on a crib. Williams Sonoma is also another shop I like to browse. All in all, its a lovely building, with a lot of history in this city, and you feel it as you take a step back in time when you enter this fantastic building. read more

Going to Trolley Square just makes me sad. Someone had such a fantastic vision and it has obviously died. No one is there shopping, the restaurants are barren, I've never seen so many closed shops, and it just put off such an eery vibe. There's paint peeling off the walls in multiple places, we saw more armed guards walking the halls than shoppers. I was very uncomfortable as I couldn't help but think of the shooting that occured in 07 and even though it's been 6 years it still seemed to play a massive role in the deterioration of the place. The elevator was Out of Order so we got to carry my daughter in her stroller up all the stairs. We just kept commenting on how sad it was to see such a potentially awesome place be going so completely downhill. I honestly am still shocked that it hasn't just closed. I guess Spaghetti Factory, Rodizio's, Pottery Barn, and the food store have kept it going. read more
