I ordered the blt & my husband ordered the pastrami sandwich with a side order of their house made pickles. I don't know what they do to their sandwiches but the sandwiches here taste like pure magic along with being pretty big in size. The BLT I would highly recommend this sandwich is flavorful & fresh. However, the real star of the show would be there pastrami sandwich, I'd recommend this one a hundred times over. I've never had pastrami as good what they serve here. Everything about this sandwich is perfect from the popping flavors to the way they cook the pastrami itself? You literally can't go wrong with this one. The house made pickles are also a must along with their kombucha they make themselves. Service is also extremely friendly which makes the experience that much better. Food comes out fast & hot. Location is easy to find & parking is a little limited but easy to navigate. Overall, great experience!

Plan my next trip to Maui just so I could have another bite of their honey mustard pastrami. Well, today that dream came true...and it was a nightmare. Getting the sandwich was a breeze--if you consider dropping almost $30 on a sandwich with a miniature side salad breezy. I got the sandwich, cooed over it, took pictures, anticipated that long-awaited first bite, took the bite, and...tasted nothing but gristle cloaked in honey mustard. I pulled the fatty piece of meat out and dutifully took another bite. Gristle. Bite. Gristle. Eventually, I cracked open the sandwich and pulled out the inedibly fatty meat. (Picture attached below...just looking at it makes me feel violently nauseous.) I was left with a delicious piece of bread with a few leaves of arugula and a small skosh of cheese. In other words, I was left hungry. I love Alchemy and its culinary perspective, so I refuse to give up on the business as a whole. I do, however, have no qualms about giving up my romanticized view of their pastrami sandwich.

Me and my daughter shared the nachos and when I say they were HUMONGOUS they were seriously enough for both of us and we still had leftovers to take home. Definitely one of those orders where you look at the plate and immediately know you made the right choice. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service was great, and it was an easy spot to sit down, eat, and enjoy some time together. If you go hungry, don't sleep on the nachos because they are not playing about those portions. We'd definitely come back.

His food recommendations were spot on, and his cocktail suggestion--the True North--was one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. It was refreshing, perfectly balanced, and absolutely delicious! We came during happy hour and ordered several dishes. My favorite was the Oregano Pizza--so flavorful and incredibly yummy! I also had the ahi tuna salad, which I absolutely loved. The simple, meatless nachos were another crowd favorite at our table. I also tried the Kula Berry Mojito. It was a little too sour for my taste, but the True North was perfect and definitely the standout drink of the night. We ordered a few more items as well, but the ones I mentioned were my absolute favorites. I highly recommend coming during happy hour for the great food, drinks, and value. Enjoy!

Such a amazingly kind owner running the business and chatting with customers! She offered my…read moretoddler daughter a complimentary drink and warmed my heart. We got an array of sandwiches. The panini was really good. The BLT was lacking a little care in its creation but was yummy once I adjusted the layout of the toppings (all bacon was lumped to one side). The tuna salad we got was missing some toppings but we let them know and they sent out a generous replacement so we could add them. They seemed to have great breakfast deals and I'd come and try them some morning, though I think they serve it all day. They also have Kombuchas (around $12 for a very large mason jar glass) and will refill their mason jars for $8-9, I kinda forget the exact price. I loved their deli pickles a lot too. The potato salad was a tad bland at first but with a little extra salt and pepper, I kept snagging bites of it. Simple sandwiches with kind service and a super chilly AC to dine in or lots of patio seating with shade. Flavors are a touch on the blander side to start with so I recommend getting their aoili and seasonings on the side to pump it up a notch.

The grab & go spots are limited here, so I'm sure they get a lot of business from the workers. I went with the chicken caesar in a spinach wrap. Didn't wait too long till it was ready. When I took my first bite, I noticed that it wasn't wrapped tight enough as it started following apart a bit, luckily it was wrapped with saran wrap. I liked that there was a good amount of dressing as that's the only way I'll eat salads. Lettuce was crisp with a pretty good amount of grilled chicken ratio. My coworker got the firecracker with steak & subbed the chipotle aioli with another sauce. They forgot her sauce & yet somehow her wrap started falling apart with liquid leaking out. Her wrap started getting a bit soggy due to the liquid, especially once she got the other half of the wrap. I'm almost sure there wasn't prices on anything, which I thought was odd. In most stores when that happens it usually means the item is very expensive. My wrap was a little over $10 which I thought was high for lettuce, chicken, & dressing inside a tortilla. Again with the odd no price thing, my coworker's wrap was more expensive. I like Mr.Sub, but I definitely wouldn't make a habit of coming here.

The space has a more upscale feel, with a really nice vibe inside and plenty of tables. They have a great selection beyond their own beer, including cocktails, wine, non-alcoholic drinks, and guest taps. I especially loved that they offered smaller beer pours, which let me try several different beers without committing to a full pour of each. I was there for the beer, and I definitely wasn't disappointed! I was also really impressed by the food menu. They had lunch specials that sounded fantastic, and they even offer a brunch menu with special brunch cocktails. I wasn't hungry enough to try the food this time, but it definitely gives me a reason to come back. Great beer, a beautiful space, and lots of options for everyone. Definitely recommend adding Hana Koa to your Oahu brewery list!

Unfortunately, something has changed recently and you can see it throughout recent reviews here, which tells me this is a taught practice by management and not just one shady server. Mainly, being up charged or sold "extras" without disclosing they're actually add ons. Our table of 4 had 3 different sandwiches, 2 burgers and a chicken sandwich. While ordering the server offered each of us, "would you like fries, onion rings, or salad with that?" There was no disclosure of it being additional, and she never used the words add ons or extras. When the bill was received, all 3 that received the sandwiches and "sides" were shocked to see upcharges (example $5.00 extra for 1/4 cup of greens and 2 slices of cucumber) when we were being offered these with our orders. When I asked the server about the charge, I asked why it wasn't disclosed it was extra, and that we only answered her question of which side we wanted because she offered as if it was included, her responses were baffling. The first was "There's nowhere on island that serves fries with a sandwich", to which I said, "but you didn't say it was extra, you offered them as if they were included", she said "it's written on the menu". To note: fries, onion rings, and side salads are listed on the menu, in their own section, separate from the sandwich sections. So while it is written, they know exactly what they're doing when they offer you sides or sauces, and you can see other recent reviews here making the same complaint. This left an extra bad taste for our table as we had come in to help support them after the recent tropical storm left them without power. We were excited to participate in a local event they were hosting and help support them after losing stock and days being closed from the storm, just to have this shady process of being upsold things we didn't order (on a $350+ bill that also included shirts from their merch store). Scuzzy way of thanking your community for coming in and patronizing your restaurant. Really disappointed after years of Hana Koa being my favorite place.
