It was one of those days where we wanted to do something else besides the beach so we visited Makawao in the upcountry. We came across this distillery by pure luck. It happened that they do tours and tastings. Pro tip, the price is the same either way. If you are short on time just do the tasting but if you have about 30 extra minutes to give, listen to the history and let them show you how they make their spirits. They have the gin, vodka, and different rums. They have a custom still to extract the heart, their own fermentation tanks, and a small bottling line that can do 100 cases a day. It's a small operation but a good one. They use turbinado sugar which is now imported in and the pineapple from the farm across the street. You can smell all the components used to make the gin and also you can taste a hint of the pineapple used in the vodka. Overall, very good stuff. Highly recommend if you are into distilleries or just spirits.

David!! Your amazing!! Your kindness and time spent today are highly appreciated!!! Loved the tasting and your knowledge you shared about all of the cool things we got to try. Loved the gin and normally that is last on my list! This was so affordable and easy to say yes, to!! I love that I got to pu4chase a bottle for home! Can't wait to take the other back and share with friends before we leave. Can't even wait to get back to our group and share the experience. We had maybe we will come back!! I highly recommend you stop in and do the tasting here!

Beautiful restaurant, with lots of beautiful and funky artwork. The staff that's friendly and our server in particular was charming and very helpful. We had fish tacos vegan banh mi & banana cheesecake. Simply scrumptious!

This place offers a really great and informative tour. It is a fun and educational way to spend an afternoon that ends with a tasting of three of their four liquors - whiskey, rum, gin and vodka. Our guide was personable, knowledgeable and easy to interact with. She did a great job of keeping things moving while also keeping things interesting. After the tour we did a tasting that was well organized in a nice clean environment. The glass-blowing shop next door was just a bonus - it was free to walk around in and see some really cool fixtures and how they are made!!

A great tasting of interesting alcohol and a wonderful tour of the distillery. David does a great job of the making process. Come for the biggest glass condenser I've ever seen

Informative and fun distillery tour - ends with the opportunity to taste their vodka, rum, gin and whiskey! This 20 minute tour was wicked informative and the individual leading it was knowledgeable and happy to answer all our questions. I appreciated the interactive nature of the tour- we walked through the production area, saw the distillation process, smelled the pineapple mash and then sampled the finished product! The experience was well worth the tour fee. I ended up leaving with a bottle of the Mahina rum which is not yet available on the mainland, so it was a special "treat" to import it via my luggage!

We had an amazing tour here! Great value, lots of information, and fun tour with an upbeat and friendly tour guide who makes the material very easy to understand. The tasting was also a blast. Very surprised to like the whisky so much, it was so smooth.

Our guide David was very knowledgeable and very thorough in explaining the the distillery process for making vodka, gin, whiskey and rum. Well worth the time and low cost for the tour and samples.

We have been on this tour many times. Last time was 3 years ago and really didn't want to again. We were on a mission looking for a flavoured vodka, we found out they don't make anymore. With changes of ownership kinda. Sammy left, Mike left, I do believe Mikes son has taken over and has some new idea and flavours. Now into Rum and Gin, and still vodka. Just not the one we wanted. It's okay we decided to buy some gin that had all sorts of names of flowers fruits infused. Don't ask me I can't remember, I'm lucky I can remembered that. LoL Easy to get to you can't miss it two big quonset Barnes with a pineapple stand in front right across from the general store. It's a must stop in, if you've never been.

He was knowledgeable about the entire pineapple-growing process. Not to mention made us laugh We learned so much about how pineapples are planted, grown, and harvested. It was fascinating to hear about the life cycle of a pineapple, the care that goes into growing them, and what makes Maui Gold pineapples so unique and sweet. Of course, the star of the show was the pineapple itself. It was hands down the sweetest, juiciest, and most delicious pineapple I've ever tasted. After trying one, it's hard to go back to grocery store pineapple! The gift shop was also wonderful, with lots of cute souvenirs, gifts, and pineapple-themed items to browse. If you're visiting Maui, I highly recommend adding the Maui Gold Pineapple Tour to your itinerary.

I recommend this tour. We booked it at the beginning of our trip in case it needed to be canceled…read moredue to weather, which would have given us time to reschedule. Thankfully, the weather cooperated! Be sure to wear closed-toe shoes. There's quite a bit of walking through the fields, and the ground can be uneven and dusty. My socks were covered in dirt afterward, so I definitely wouldn't recommend flip-flops. Small carton boxes of water (like school lunch sized milk cartons) were provided on the tour bus, which was appreciated, but I'd still recommend bringing your own water as well, especially if it's a warm day. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting information about pineapple farming. It's so labor intensive!! However, he spoke extremely fast, which made it difficult to follow at times. I wish he had slowed down a bit. During the tour, we sampled pineapples at different stages of ripeness, and at the end each group receives a boxed pineapple package to take home. Since there were two of us, we were given a pre-packaged box for two people. We assumed we'd be getting two pineapples similar to the ones we tasted during the tour, but when we opened the box back at our hotel, we found three very small pineapples instead. The box itself made it look like the fruit would be larger. We learned on the tour that pineapples do not continue ripening after they're harvested, so what you get is what you get in terms of sweetness. We kept 2 for ourselves and gifted the 3rd away. Unfortunately, the 2 we cut open were bland, barely sweet which was disappointing. A grocery store pineapple would've been sweeter I think. Idk if the one we gifted away was sweet or not. I hope it was b/c that'd be embarrassing considering it had the "Maui Gold" tag on the crown. One area that could use improvement is the guide's professionalism. At times, he shared stories about previous guests in a way that felt like he was making fun of questions they had asked. Hubby agreed. It left me wondering whether future tour groups would hear stories about us as well. He also shared a story about jokingly telling a guest or a group that he was gay, and then he was like, just kidding! While it may have been intended as humor, it didn't sit well with me. It felt unnecessary and in poor taste, especially considering there could have been LGBTQ+ guests on our tour. Overall, the tour was informative and enjoyable, and I appreciated the opportunity to learn more about pineapple farming. A slower-paced presentation and a more professional approach from the guide would have made the experience even better.

They have a patio area to sit at, and they just call your name when your tasting is ready. They give you information with the cheeses, so you know what you are trying. The shop had a nice assortment of other gifts, as well as the truffles. The truffles were definitely my favorite. You can just get one if you want, or you can pick out several to make a box to take home. We walked around and saw the area where the babies/young goats played on the surfboards, which is super cute. The adults are all over in different areas, and you will even see them on the roofs of different buildings. The tour would have been nice to learn some history and information, but it is still really nice to go without the tour. It was a fun and peaceful little experience.

Chris had great recommendations for us and the food stops were amazing and delicious and tailored to what we were feeling or not feeling. We had a general idea of the stops we wanted to hit based on our research, but Chris went above and beyond to show us unique stops and views and scenic views. We made great memories and got to experience the road to Hana in a way that far exceeded our expectations. All though it was not the most affordable way to experience the road to Hana, we still felt it was worth the cost. It will be a great memory for us for years to come. I can now say I swam in a waterfall....a very cold one, but definitely worth it. Chris knows these roads and all the stops you might want to see, and he customized it to our level of adventure, including hikes and swims along the way. You can definitely find cheaper alternatives, but I would suggest speaking with Awapuhi Adventures to see if they can meet your needs. The pros of going private is that you are in the drivers seat (figuratively) for where and when to stop, and can skip anything that seems generic or not to your liking. The con is that it will cost some $$$. In our experience, it was worth it! Thanks again, Chris!

I started looking on Yelp in hopes it would help me narrow down the best of the best and that it absolutely did. I saw the raves about Willie and knew it was going to be worth every penny. Willie called me to talk about what we wanted to get out of our trip, and he also checked back in the day before to reiterate details about where to meet, etc. We told him we really wanted to see beautiful waterfalls and some cool secret, less touristy spots. We began our drive and Willie pulled off on this little beach, and said he wanted to show us something.
