I was referred to this community center to drop off my mail-in ballot because the Watt Avenue Arden Library was closed. I must say the park is looking so good. Both I and a lady who was also referred stopped and chatted about how beautiful the park was. Caretakers take a bow!! Wow. She and I both said it had been 50 years since we had a reason to go to the park. I remember when it was just a field. I love it and hope there is a dog park soon. A friend invited me to meet up with her and her dog on a gorgeous weekend afternoon. This park has a lot going for it! There's a decently sized dog park. It could use more seating for the humans, but there's ample room for the dogs to run around. There's even a smaller dog park adjoining the main one for, I assume, smaller dogs or perhaps less social ones. There are a few paths that can take you to various other parts of the park, like a playground, pond, basketball courts, a baseball diamond or two, bathrooms, shaded eating areas... this park really has it all. Its biggest asset is lots and lots of green space. Lots of families were gathered for weekend picnics or lounging. There's a decent amount of parking in the center of the park, though I think you can also park around the perimeter. read more

I can't say it's one of the most beautiful park with an abundance of offerings, but I can say it's still a great community resource and a park I have visited on many occasions! Just having this resource in the neighborhood is great, especially for those who live close by who can take advantage of it frequently. There are numerous amenities within the property, including a good sized dog park, another dog park for even smaller dogs, a baseball diamond that is in ok shape, a playground and basketball courts. There are also a number of walking paths and a pond which is a spot where I have spent the most time enjoying the outdoors and a spot where I also take my son. You could drive around and compare other parks based on its merits, but what's the point? If you live near Howe Community Park you can rest assured you have a pretty nice park in your neighborhood. read more

My childhood park growing up. It's a huge acres of different amenities. Dog parks, fishing ponds, tennis courts, volleyball, picnic grills, etc. I had always enjoy coming here as a kid. With the constant way the city is changing now it's a bit hard to try to enjoy the land. So, stay alert and take precautions. read more

Howe Park is a nice park. Nothing special about it, but more than some other parks I've seen. LOCATION: This park is located in the perfect area. No buildings close by, no neighborhoods and not a high traffic area. Getting in and out of the parking lot is as easy as it gets. The park is usually filled with people no matter the time nor weather. AESTHETICS: There are some nice trees, open field areas and a pond with a fountain. Compared to other parks in Sacramento, this one has the bare minimum. FEATURES: There is a community public house in which I've seen anything from birthday celebrations to holiday parties. There is a small play area for children and a few tables and benches. There is also a baseball field and volley ball net. EXPERIENCE: I only come to this park for 1 reason. Pokémon. It's a great place to walk around and hit the few stops they have at the park. There are about 5 pokestops here and a gym at the pond. You'll see plenty of others out there doing the same. All in all it's a safe place for family events and casual meetups. read more

This is another one of my favorite parks in Sacramento. Have been coming to Howe Park for years. It's a simple, basic park and still manage to provide the essentials to enjoy your favorite outdoor activity. There's a playground, benches/tables, a pond for fishing, a cute gazebo, softball diamond, a small dog park, a volleyball net, and a basketball court. I love that this park is big and spacious enough to run and or going on a nice stroll. There are bathrooms available for use. There are ducks and people walking dogs at every turn, so, be careful of stepping in poop!! read more

I've clocked more hours at this park than almost many! My Dad lived around corner, we grew UP at this park. I played competitive softball here as teen, young adult, and into my 40's. I've "retired" from competitive play, but return as a photographer to capture old friends playing in tournaments. This park holds MANY memories! For 4 years I basically worked across street (Ethan Way) and walked this park EVERY day for lunch. Love visiting often, and getting my NOSTALGIA on! read more

Four stars because I didn't utilize everything. But.. they did have 2 dog areas (nothing special there) a trail to walk (paved) it said start mile here, but no other signs when I'm the trio forked. There was a kid playground that looked amazing. A Softball area with people playing and volley ball too. I notice one small information board. There was a good size pond with about 4-5 people fishing from the sides and a gazebo along with benches to sit around. Luscious green grass. Ample parking. I didn't utilize the club house. Everyone I ran into were friendly. I didn't notice any doggy trash bag stands (I had my own, but I like seeing those too). I really enjoyed seeing a great park in a nice neighborhood with people enjoying it. Now if the ducks would pose for pics and they'd update the dog areas this park would (or could be amazing). read more

Ok first when I finally decided to give this review I checked and it hadn't been a review since 2018 . The last time I went to walk in this park was at least 1 month ago. That was at least 3 weeks before ,that I was there and the porta potty by the kids play area was full and overflowing. The facilities look the same the next month.What is wrong with the people that work here . It's disgusting read more

It's a really big nice park with enough play areas for children BUT the type of parents and children here are lousy. 5PM 6-7 ladies (looks like they all know each other) allowing their children to pick up the playground chips and throw them all over other children. Repeatedly told their children to stop, the mothers look on and stare. No discipline when their children were pushing and shoving my kid.We move to the smaller play ground and their children followed along without parents present. Bad parenting!! read more

This park has something for everyone to enjoy: Volleyball Court, Dog Park, Playgrounds, Duck Pond, Jogging Trail, Tennis Courts, Picnic Areas, and Baseball Diamonds. If you just want to sit under a shade tree and relax, you can do that , too! Just across the street is another park with a Frisbee Course. Make a picnic lunch and you can spend an entire day here! The only downside to this park is the limited parking options. read more

I thought this would be a good park to take my kids after reading the reviews. It wasn't. Playgrounds are okay. Have some fun things to play on. The people are what made us leave. Tweakers in the parking lot. Literally smoking out of a crack Pipe in the car. Also a guy living in his car who was changing his shorts out in the open. Then on the playground there was some older kids screaming cuss words and saying they don't have a F!$@ that there are kids around. So we move to another playground. To get there you cross a bridge. 6 skinny horribly smelling people on the bridge. Skinny like sucked up tweakers. I won't be back. read more

Good place to go on morning jogs!! Not really busy on weekday mornings, but weekend mornings and nights are busy. There is a pond and you can go fishing but I wouldn't want to eat anything that came out of there. Big park! Over-all nice place. read more

They do baptisms there on that very day instead months of classes like many churches do! For TIGER, she likes telling people, telling others, "Almost Promoted To Glory To A Baptism Thirteen Month Later! Hallelujah!" Sorry, but the Almost Promoted is Salvation Army language yet most people seem understand what means! Okay so if is right park, there lots grass, six tennis courts, two play grounds, a batting practice area, there are places for people having picnics! That day there were think two birthday parties, there one family having picnic! Think there an one mile hike trail! Did see what looking like big water fountain, TIGER wonders if any person, child/adult, can be able play and be able get wet in this big water fountain! TIGER has yet seeing any fountain in Sacra where one can play and one can get wet, as far TIGER not found any! Ah well, but she did note the fountain! This park is very peaceful. Saturdays seem like it's most packed during those days with birthday parties, or just a simple bbq. The kids seem to enjoy themselves. The upkeep of the pond can be done alot better though. But for the most part finding peace alonside nature made up for that lol. I value a peace of mind of everything else. They have a nice little creek that go throughout the park. I know as a kid when my parents took my siblings here we used to play in the creek and get tadpoles. I didn't see any of that though. I give this park 5 stars based on the fact you can actually enjoy yourself here. Not alot going on. Lots of trees, ducks and squirellls. read more

A park is a park, not always. Howe park is but a shadow of it's former glory. The swimming pool that it had was glorious, now it's gone paved for parking, yet parking situation is horrible. Tennis courts ran down, 3 out of 6 have no nets wtf is up. The ones that so have nets are slanted cracked and survivors. Baseball fields are nicer than they need to be. 2 preschool playgrounds, 1 is newer and nice. 1 bigger playground looks fun couple spiny seats, swings, climbing surface, rope pyramid, best thing at this park. Dog park is adequate with two enclosures makes it safer for dogs. Two bathrooms stink and portable toilets blow. Pond is there, oh yah wow pond. Try not to break an ankle on the roots while on the out of date paths that circle my park. WHERE ARE THE BASKETBALL COURTS? How can this be a park without Courts 1 star! read more

I am a photographer and absolutely love using this park for photo shoots. It has great scenery, bridges, trees, and fountains. Its awesome!

Just happened to stop by in this park yesterday afternoon and walked our dog for a few minutes and since it's a very hot summer afternoon, there's really nothing much going on. They have a picnic area and walking trails and a fountain in one side of the park. Overall, It's a pretty good size park and a great place to have a family outing. read more

This is my favorite park! It's by my workplace so I go there to eat lunch and relax. The place is pretty packed most days, but it's a big park and finding a place to lie a blanket down on the grass is no problem. It's fun to see families hanging out and kids playing and there's always something going on Saturdays mornings and afternoons. Parking can be hard during the busiest times, however, I find this is a nice place to catch some sun and walk around. read more

I like this park but the type of people it attracts is enough for me not to bring my toddler to it. We went one time and there was a couple of people throughout the parking smoking pot nearby where there were kids playing. It has nice little playgrounds but I hate the people that come here, just no respect for anyone. read more

Howe Park is a nice park overall. The grounds are very well maintained and it is really clean. The bathrooms aren't, but what park has a clean bathroom? I've been coming to Howe Park since I was a little girl when we would come visit family in Sac , way before I moved up here. We bring our kids here to play every so often since we live close by. I also walk around Howe Park and also it's sister park, Santa Anita Park. They recently repaved the sidewalks which make the walk a lot smoother. I enjoy the walks as a form of cardio to switch up my work outs and Santa Anita is also well maintained and more of a quieter, relaxed park to enjoy a picnic, or to play Frisbee or catch on the big open field (after walking down a bit). Howe Park, and Santa Anita both have a stream that runs through, and because of the drought has been emptied out. The pond is still there, and people can fish there with a license. Howe also has 2 play grounds, one on the lower level for bigger kids, and a toddler playground on the top level which is aimed for kids 2-5. They have baseball/softball fields, tennis courts, a racquetball area, and the Community Center which has an office and an area to rent out for parties or events. My only compliant about this park is that in the parking lot (both on the lower and top levels), adults sit in their cars and it creeps me out. It's either people alone, or 2 people. I have walked by cars walking to the playground area and you can smell pot coming from their car, or also old men just staring out at the playground. It definitely makes me feel uncomfortable. Why do these people sit in their cars? I never go alone with my kids. I don't feel 100% safe in the Arden Arcade area so either my fiance goes with me or my dad. I always keep a good watch on my kids, especially my youngest and my daughter. I also never do the walks alone, especially since on the Santa Anita side its less people. Its a cool park to enjoy, just keep a close watch on your kids. Once in a while you do see the Police drive through doing a check. It makes me feel safer knowing they are patrolling the park. read more
