My husband and I came here for a 20 week anatomy scan. Robert was our technician/expert and he was amazing. He talked us through the entire thing, answered all of our questions thoroughly and was extremely polite. My husband said after "he was the most calming presence you could ever ask for" and I whole heatedly agree. The office is clean and nice. Well where do I start with this place... The ultrasound technicians are wonderful. We have had the same tech every time and she was amazing. I forget her name but she is from Australia and was always professional and on time. The billing department is a huge problem. They are very rude, short, and disrespectful. They have no sympathy and don't empathize with their patients. You are dealing with families who, at least in our case, have never gone through this before and have no idea what we expect. Just when we are told one thing from them, we get something completely different weeks later. Example: We have gotten quotes for both ultrasounds that were completely off and we ended up paying more than 3 times the amount we were quoted. The lady who I spoke to each time has no concern, never apologizes, or offers solutions or compromises. She is very mean and a horrible person. I ended up making payments and was told our bill was 100% cleared. Then every time I called or spoke to someone after that they kept insisting we owed more money, even after it was notated by a manager that we had settled for a lower amount which was still outrageous. There are plenty of other places in the valley so please do not use these people. read more

Valley Perinatal is amazing. I came here for my last pregnancy as well as my current one because I am high risk. I have seen Dr. Kuhlman both times and she is great! Worst place ever! Run away now! The front desk girl was extremely rude. She was on the phone when I walked in so I didn't know when she was talking to me or to the person on the phone. Then I had accidentally signed the wrong thing on the paperwork and she was so annoyed with me. Then we go back to the ultrasound tech and at first she was really nice. Then she didn't know what to do because our baby kept moving around. She HIT my stomach three different times with the Doppler during our hour long appointment. She put so much pressure that it was painful the entire time. When she was finished with the ultrasound and going to check my cervix she told me to put my shirt down and take off my pants. I walked over to get some wipes and she says no I will give you some later. I told her I didn't want to put my shirt down because I was sticky. Horrible images!! Very unprofessional place! read more

Our Dr. Office send us here to get ultrasound. Since we have not met our insurance deductible yet, the front desk told us would be $280 today, and gave us the an option to pay it now or bill later. The bill came over $600???? So I called...and been working with them since over a year no resolved...and now end up with debt collection.... I had a great experience, i tried to call ti set up an appointment with no luck, i sent msg on their website and Facebook they replied within minutes, and I receive a phone call from them, Wendy was very attentive and helpful :) I scheduled my visit for NT Scan Monday at 8am, I got early to fill paperwork , everything went smoothly I didn't get the Sonographer name but she also made me feel comfortable and she really tried her best to get good pictures of my little one, even my baby girl was not very cooperative :) I really appreciate that. Dr. Kuhlman is a very kind and lovely Dr. She is patient and you can interact with her about all your concerns, I felt she really has vocation. You can not go wrong visiting here :) read more

I had an appointment here for a detailed 20 week ultrasound. My appointment was on a Monday, so that previous Friday I got a call from their billing girl. She wanted to let me know that my co-pay would be 300 dollars since I hadn't met my deductible yet. I was trying to figure out why it was so expensive...? Anyhow, I called my insurance to see what was up and after digging into the confusion of coverage, co-pays, and co-insurance...I had actually already met my 300 dollar deductible. IDK, don't ask me. Insurance is confusing. All I know is that I've met my deductible according to my insurance company, so I called Valley Perinatal back. I spoke with the same girl and she said that was fine, she would tell the front desk not to charge me. Not a huge deal, but I wish they could've seen that info on their end instead of me spending 25 minutes on the phone with my insurance company. The actual appointment went great! My ultrasound tech was friendly and thorough. She took measurements of every major bone in baby's body and showed us the liver and kidneys. She also showed us the heart and how the blood flows through! My Husband and I were sitting there in amazement :) and just because they have the technology, she also included a couple 4D photos of baby, which I wasn't expecting, but really appreciated :) After she was done the doctor came in with our file and told us everything looked great and that we were healthy :) read more

I scheduled an appt with Valley Perinatal 2 days ago for a first available, as my insurance runs out in one week from today. I was told that the location at 2242 W Southern Ave could take me. I explained the the receptionist that I had a referral from my gyno nurse practitioner to see a gyno specialist for follow up regarding a suspicious cyst on my ovary. This cyst was found by 2 previous ultra sounds. That's how I know I have one. The referral reads: "Ovarian Cyst NEC/NOS (620.2)" I read this to the receptionist at the time my appt was scheduled. Today, only 4 hours before my appt I called for their fax number. The receptionist then told me that the physicians at this office ONLY handle high risk pregnancies. I was speechless. Then I had to scramble to find another gyno specialist in the Phoenix valley who could take me ASAP. (Why? Because my insurance runs out in a week.) So, I called another clinic. Their receptionist knew exactly what I was talking about when I scheduled my appt. She even asked me if I had a physical copy of my previous ultrasound results-----------without my having to mention it. When I called Valley Perinatal back to cancel today's meaningless appt, I told a (different) receptionist about the mix up. She apologized for the confusion but said that people are referred to them all the time for ultrasounds. I asked her if people were ever referred to that location for GYNO SPECIALISTS re: OVARIAN CYSTS. She said no. I rest my case. I would triple check with these guys when you schedule an appt b/c their receptionist(s) need more training. read more

After my original review, I did get in contact with this company. It was a long back in forth, but it boiled down to them doing the best to document their original exams to prove they really did say there was a "chance" our daughter had a cleft. They never DID anything to resolve their horrible communication or faulty original diagnosis. I am sure there are great people who work there but I would never let my friends go to this for profit chop shop My wife is pregnant again, and we went to Fetal Internal Medicine of Arizona for our ultrasounds: they were terrific.They spent lots of time with my wife making sure they get their diagnosis correct. If you are a parent and are wondering about where they should get their ultrasound, I would happy to point you in a better direction than Valley Perinatal. read more

If I could I would give zero stars! STAY AWAY! My OB office had me walk a referral over to their Estrella office for weekly BPPs due to a high risk condition and took FOREVER to make an appointment. I was told I would be contacted either that day, on a Friday, or on Monday. This never happened. I requested an appointment on their website and still received no call. I called that Tuesday to wait 20 minutes to just get an answering machine... I left a message and still nothing. I get called over 2 weeks later before 8 AM to be told they can't get me in for another 3 weeks... They wanted to just schedule the one appointment. I asked about other locations and it was close to the same thing. This is ridiculous. Thankfully I've already gone to the hospital (although somewhat excruciating) twice to get them done. It may not be a great wait but at least I know I am going to be getting them done instead of being treated like I don't matter from Valley Perinatal! read more

This is the slowest place ever. They have a sign saying if you are 15 minutes late you will have to reschedule yet they always take more than 1 hour after your appointment to even take you back to a room. I have had 7 visits for this pregnancy with Valley Perinatal. Every time the office staff, ultrasound technicians & doctors have been pleasant, professional and given quality care. Diabetes education was invaluable in bringing my borderline to high sugar levels down to normal or just over from time to time. Making an appt. is easy; the waiting room is nice but never had to be there longer than 5 to 10 min. The recliner for the NST monitoring is so comfortable. Having ultrasound photos of the baby emailed to us is a nice perk. I have had several ultrasounds from the other Perinatal Specialists in town for 4 previous pregnancies. The billing practices were a nightmare. I overpaid many times and one time never did get my refund. In recent years, they always tried to schedule an appt. with the specialist doctor (requiring a co pay) whenever I was simply to get an ultrasound and have the results sent to my OB (free w/my insurance). Often the office staff seemed distant and harried. The technicians were also less friendly or talkative; you kind of felt like a specimen rather than a patient. I am so thankful there is a contrasting fantastic practice so that I can choose where to get an in depth ultrasound now that Valley Perinatal is in town. read more

I am incredibly thankful for Dr. Kuhlman and the entire staff at Valley Perinatal. I can only attest to this location (Scottsdale) but I can say that every single person I've come in contact with has been a delight to interact with. My pregnancy started off a little rough. Dr. Kuhlman was straight forward and honest about what was going on and what I needed to do at all times. It was comforting knowing I could trust her and now I'm 38 weeks with a perfectly normal/healthy pregnancy. The reception staff and techs are so wonderful. I'm honestly sad that my last appointment was today! I highly recommend this office to any woman during her pregnancy. I couldn't be more thankful for them. read more

I just got back from an appointment there which never actually happened because they wanted $600 from me for an ultrasound, all of which have been covered 100% by my insurance and this place is listed as IN-NETWORK. I called the insurance company and they informed me that it is not normal OR APPROPRIATE for the doctor's office to ask for a payment like this based on an ESTIMATE only. The insurance company then called the billing department to check with them, and the billing department said that this is an estimate only and they do not ask for the payment up front. I called back to let them know that I no longer would like to go to their office for services and the billing department argued with me and said that it is their policy to collect payment up front. Sound fishy to you?? If you have gotten referred to Valley Perinatal, ask for a different referral. They have shady and borderline FRAUDULENT business practices. read more

This review is really for Dr. Kathleen Kuhlman, M.D. at Valley Perinatal. After the tech performed the ultrasound, we were concerned because the images were not that great and still had concerns. Due to an abnormality on previous films.,Dr. Kuhlman personally came in and did the ultrasound herself. She was very thorough and explained each image and its significance. She also elaborated about medication conditions related to our baby. She relieved our concerns due to her intelligence, compassion and ability to discuss communicate technical issues well. We only regret not seeing her sooner. I would highly recommend Dr. Kuhlman and wait to make certain that I was seen by her on each visit. read more

I would not recommend this facility. After having a less than favorable screening, and making this known multiple times when scheduling, upon arrival, and during the ultrasound, Dr. Kuhlman did not even take the time to speak with me prior to leaving. Now, my ultrasound looked good, BUT-- I voiced multiple times that I would really like to speak with her to have her "sign off" on it not showing any markers. I left feeling disappointed, but pretty happy over what I had seen. However, roughly three hours later, I get a phone call from Valley Perinatal stating Dr. Kuhlamn wanted to get me rescheduled sooner for genetic counseling. I asked what the reasoning was (my appointment was in less than a week) and they did not give me an answer, but asked if I could return in two days. I said I would feel more comfortable talking to Dr. Kuhlman to see why the sudden rush (when she didn't even take the time to speak to me when I was JUST in the office...) and asked for them to get her on the phone. This request was declined because Dr. Kuhlman had a meeting "very soon". There was no offer for her to call me after, or even the next day. Rather, the next offer was "How about we actually get you in tomorrow to meet with Dr. Kuhlman?" This was very upsetting, and no information was given to me. I was unable to sleep or eat, because I was so worried that something bad had in fact shown up and this was the reason why they needed to get me in so soon. The following day, I called to cancel my future appointments. Less than an hour later, I received TWO phone calls from the facility. One from the same person who called the day before, and another from the office coordinator. By this time I had already voiced my horrible experience to my doctor who advised me not to return. They continued to try and get me rescheduled for genetic counseling, to which I declined. Rather than getting a simple apology, I was told by the coordinator "I don't know what happened in the conversation yesterday, I wasn't there...." That's fine to tell your employee-- but not your patient. I am well aware who was present on that phone call. If you really want to try and "make things right", apologize and MOVE ON. Regardless of how you really feel, your office upset a pregnant person and caused her much undue stress and anxiety. Own the mistake. I will not return here for any reason. If they are a member, I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB. I am not sure what this practice is all about, but it certainly does not seem to be its patients. read more

I was seen in their Mesa office and both time they tries collecting large amounts if money from me in the office. After spending 20 minutes talking to my insurance they infirmed me that all services were 100% covered. When I was brought back in again for another ultrasound they tried collecting a copay, I again had to explain that I don't pay a copay for imaging only if I see a physician. These people are not informed on anything and cause souch extra stress. They moved my appointment without even confirming it was okay. I'll never EVER use them again. Even their paperwork is clear that they love to collect money and fees for every little thing. Crappy place. read more

Their billing practices are unethical. They initially quoted a cash pay rate, which we paid at the time of service. Fast forward 6 months, and they start sending us erroneous bills, saying that we owe them more money. They have refused to correct the bill and have turned us over to collections for a paltry sum. First of all I won't even give them one star..I recieved an order for a regular 2D pelvic ultrasound from my OBGYN..nothing of concern just a routine check for a cyst on an ovary. Went in for my appointment everything went fine. A month or so later receieved a bill from them, was somewhat confused being that my insurance covers ultrasounds 100%. THEY explained to me that I had a 3D ultrasound which my ins only pays a portion the rest go towards my deductible..Still unsure why a 3D was done being that my Dr did not order that..they claimed they only do 3D which is a lie being that their website says they do 2D and 3D. So now I was sent to collection for a bill for a procedure that was never ordered by my doctor and to find out this company billed my insurance for 2 ultrasounds..2D and 3D...almost 800.00 was billed to my insurance company for a simple pelvic ultrasound that I have never paid a penny to have done at another facility...I never should of gave this company my business it was my first and last time...Be cautious of facilities that don't tell you exactley what their doing..they did a procedure on me that wasn't ordered so they can make more money...very unprofessional company but I am persuing action against them and contacted the BBB and Medical board. read more
