This office represented themselves as being in-network with my insurance, yet they scheduled my procedure at an out-of-network hospital. Because of their mistake and lack of transparency, I am now being hit with thousands of dollars in unexpected medical bills. As if that wasn't bad enough, they also failed to properly identify the medical issue I was experiencing. I repeatedly told them something was wrong, but my concerns were dismissed. I had to continue pushing for answers and advocating for myself before anyone took the situation seriously. Had I simply accepted their initial assessment, my condition could have gone untreated. Patients trust medical providers to guide them correctly, communicate important financial information, and take concerns seriously. In my experience, this office failed on all three. Since my first appointment to this one ive gained 15lbs at 22 weeks pregnant (which ive heard from others is very normal) also for me personally i gain weight very very easily so i was surprised it was only 15lbs but the doctor, Mary Frazee, walked into the room and said that ive gained too much weight, i need to lay off all that sugar and soda and start eating your veggies and salads more often. that this is not healthy for you and kept going on and on about it. I called the emergency line for this office bc i threw up very unexpectedly and its not normal for me to throw up even since ive gotten pregnant i havent had any sickness. i live alone so i was panicking more bc i felt like i was going to pass out but i ended up throwing up and being fine and the doctor that i talked to from the office said its normal and just to watch out for some things. So at the appointment the doctor, Mary Frazee walks into the room and after calling me fat pretty much shes like you also called my assistant in the middle of the night thats very rude of you and throwing up is normal your pregnant. i also lift, push, pull very heavy and am constantly bending over at work and ive been getting faint and dizzy at work, i had to pretty much beg her for a note for work and even for that she didnt want to. Every single time I went in, the staff was rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. Appointments they claimed were scheduled were not actually booked, which created unnecessary stress and confusion. I constantly had to advocate for myself because no one clearly explained what appointments I was there for or what was supposed to happen next. The insurance issues were also a nightmare. I am a veteran and receive maternity care through the VA. Their office spoke directly with my VA maternity care coordinator, yet I still had problems with my insurance at almost every visit. Instead of trying to help or find a solution, the attitude I got was basically, "Sorry, nothing we can do." That is unacceptable, especially when dealing with a pregnant patient in a vulnerable position. Toward the end of my pregnancy, I actually started canceling appointments because going into that office caused me more stress than reassurance. There were days I left in tears. The front desk staff showed no empathy, no professionalism, and no willingness to do anything beyond the bare minimum. As for Dr. Bruce, I did not have major issues with him personally, but I did feel dismissed at times. I understand insurance and front desk problems are not directly his job, but they are happening in his office, under his name. When I brought up issues, I did not feel like anyone cared enough to address them. I also had extremely severe varicose veins during pregnancy. Dr. Bruce did not seem very concerned, and I had to push to get a referral. When I finally saw the vein specialist, she was very concerned and told me they were the worst veins she had seen in about 20 years. Overall, I left this office feeling unsupported, dismissed, and stressed during one of the most vulnerable times of my life. I wish the people working there cared more about the type of care they are supposed to be providing. Pregnancy is already overwhelming. Patients should not have to fight the front desk, fight insurance confusion, and fight to be taken seriously at every visit.

I didn't wait very long. From there, I sat with the doctor's assistant, also named Emily. She was very thorough and efficient at her job. She also listened to my concern about taking blood pressure before and after my visit as a personal preference. I appreciated her for this. Dr. Schlecht herself was a very friendly doctor and she also listened to me as well about my needs and she also provided patient education where I might've had this information about mammograms versus MRIs and what they pick up. I appreciate her patience and her kind bedside manner. When I was done, I met Gail who is the in-house phlebotomist representing Sonora Quest and she was very kind had such a great personality and she made my visit very fun. Enjoyable. You can tell she's a caring and compassionate woman and they're lucky to have her in the office as well. Finally, when it was time to check out, I was again impressed with Emily, the receptionist for giving me preparation; a slip of paper explaining that they even have in-house ultrasound and that a woman named Jill causes insurance the Monday or Tuesday before hand to verify coverage and to get pre-authorization and I just think that this practice has their stuff together. The front desk staff asked me for the reason for my request, and when I told her it was to provide to my primary doctor, she inquired about the name of the clinic or doctor. This felt like a HIPAA violation--asking me personal questions that were not relevant to her, especially since others could overhear the conversation. I was clear about what I needed. They asked me to provide a urine sample, and when I opened the box to place my sample inside, I saw five other urine samples. It was the most disgusting thing I have ever encountered. Additionally, the waiting rooms were dirty. There were two people ahead of me for their appointments, and one woman was mistakenly checked out even though she hadn't been seen. I was late to my second appointment by just one minute past the grace period. The receptionist suggested I reschedule and come back a whole month later, which was the next available appointment. I explained that I couldn't wait that long, and I was told she would call me back if an opening became available. An hour passed, and I hadn't received a call, so I checked with the second receptionist. She informed me that there was an opening in 30 minutes, so I took it. Ultimately, I spent two hours in the office overall. This was only my second visit to this office, and it's my first pregnancy. These workers have showed me no compassion and have cancelled on me 3 times already after having to wait a month just to get an appointment. My birth control has been effecting my mood and mental health which is why I wanted to change it but it feels like this office is doing everything to stop me from getting it taken out. My first appointment for a new birth control was back in January. I still have not got what I wanted and I'm at the point of finding a new doctor's office completely. It should not take 4+ months to change out someone's birth control who has completed decided on that decision. I would save your time scheduling here, they'll probably just cancel on you anyway.
