Eily and Mike are so wonderful to work with! I initially came in for help finding a more comfortable shoulder rest. I had surgery on my left shoulder so it has been a struggle for me. Eily let me try literally every shoulder rest in the store! She was so patient, listened to me, looked at what was going on, and helped me get setup with a shoulder rest that allowed me to play in comfort and without pain!! I was shocked at how much focused attention I received. Truly caring and wonderful people!! I came back to buy a vintage violin and again they were very patient, letting me try every violin until I found the one that best suited me. I didn't quite like the sound, so they recommended strings that would best suit my instrument and now it sounds perfect! Clark, the luthier is so talented too. I've been renting a cello for several months now and I've had a few issues such as a broken string and a loose sound board, both were tended to immediately. Angelo is outstanding. He was patient, very nice, and gave my daughter plenty of options after measuring her, and assisting with the rental of a violin. I wasn't expecting to purchase the book she needed either but he had it in stock (for $0.50 cheaper than Amazon). He also carefully explained the rental options and as I waited for the catch, I was pleasantly surprised that there wasn't one. Following our experience , my kiddo was so excited to try out her violin that we forgot to rosin the bow! As newbies, we needed tips on how to use the rosin- thank you, Youtube. Their rental prices are great, they do repairs in house if needed, can exchange for a different size anytime, and part of the rental price goes toward a future purchase if desired. Went in to Valley of the suns violin to purchase a new bow. I am a novice and really needed some help. The owner Was very helpful and steered me in the right direction, at this point I had not purchased the bow yet but he took a look at my violin and brought a few issues to my attention. Bridge,strings and even a small (not crack) but separation in the body of the violin. He gave a lot of good advise and did not make me feel bad in any way. I've been to other shops around in Tempe and definitely have decided this one is the best. Since the first time I walked in, as a complete novice, he (can't remember his name) took the time to answer all my questions and in a way I could understand the terminology. I also brought my violin to get it checked out and just as the first time he was very patient and answered all my questions. He didn't seem to mind that I didn't buy the violin from him, questioned my violin, criticized, or in anyway frowned upon my violin, which it seems others shops would since I didn't spend a fortune on it. We were visiting Scottsdale and staying in the hotel across the street and were fortunate enough to stumble upon Valley of the Sun Violins. A small, clean shop with many beautifully kept, OLD, violins that I wish my daughter could have played all day! Angelo, the owner, was quite helpful and knew music people in our area of Florida so were able to chat for a while! Let me start by saying Angelo is the owner of Valley of the Sun Violins, and was amazing. He gave his honest opinions on our 18th century violin. It has been in the family for over a hundred years. It has some centimental value, however Angelo made us feel like he would clean it up and make sure it goes to a home that understands the history beh8nd this fine instrument.
