He replaced the original heel pads with Vibram heel pads (same thickness as original), which should last much longer. Used them on PB courts, and they perform great. This review is based on my recent experience with a shore repair service here in Naples. I went to Val's based on location, but also based on the reviews posted for Val's Shoe Repair. I have to say Val's has a passion and dedication to making their customers happy, which shines through when you first encounter the owner. The service is great, and they are brutally honest with you about shoe repair. I have 7 pairs of shoes that needed repairs and I asked them if they were worth saving. They told me every pair was expensive and should be repaired. They let me know there would be a two week wait and that the water stains and scuffing as well as soles would be easily repaired. However, not impossible for Val's Shoe Repair. I trusted him with 7 pairs of shoes, and told me IF I didn't like the repair work, I could get my money back. Well....I have 7 brand spanking new pair of shoes...all completed within 7-10 days-outstanding job. He truly is passionate about his craft and it shows in his work and customer service. I dropped off a pair of slippers that my father has owned since 2004. My father wore them until holes were worn through the leather soles. I decided to attempt to have them repaired as a Christmas present. I'm guessing Don is who I spoke with yesterday and again today and I have no doubt that the work will be top notch! The gent at the shop is going to get them done by Monday for me in time for Christmas and offered a few different options for the repair but I opted to leave it ultimately up to him, he is the pro after all. I will update when I pick up the slippers and see the work but I am confident that the work will be great and my father will be excited to have his favorite slippers for another 15 years! read more

Outstanding work! I took 3 pair of shoes with the leather sole worn down at the toe and asked for 1/2 rubber soles. Since shoe repair is a dying art in my hometown, I was happy to see a shoe repair shop near me. When I picked up the shoes they ALL looked BRAND NEW!!
