Went in to have my Jodhpur boots resoled. I was given a very fair price and told to come back in 1 week. My boots were ready at the appointed time with fresh soles and a nice complimentary polish to boot (no pun intended). The location is way across town for me but well worth the drive because the quality workmanship at reasonable cost can't be beat. read more

I bought a pair of custom-made shoes for repair. I was a little weary at first. A master craftsman in Italy made these shoes. The cobbler at Magic Shoe Repair made them look like new. If I could give this establishment 0 stars I would without hesitation. I recently visited Magic Shoe Repair with two pairs of heels both needing the lining replaced as it had started to crumble and disintegrate from sitting for many years and not being worn. I was charged $14 per pair and was required to wait a full week before pick up. They replaced the insole and nothing else so that when I picked up my shoes, the inside of both shoes was still flaking and and not wearable. The shoes were no better off after having the insoles only replaced as they were still flaking parts of the lining onto my feet from the rest of the interior. When I pointed this out I was told there was nothing they could do about it and I should take a stiff brush and try to remove the flaking material myself.....REALLY? Why did I even bother to bring my shoes to them in the first place if I was going to end up doing the repair myself, pay $28 total for both pairs not to mention trav read more

Not my first visit. My first visit was fine. No issues simple purse repair so I had no issues going back to have ruck sack buckles replaced. Simple right? No. When I dropped the bag a week ago I got a weird vibe from the fellow who does the repair. Like I was annoying him. Not sure how, I just went in and asked if it was something they could do. The lovely lady at the counter asked him, he said yes. Give him a week. No worries. Today I was in the area, and it's been a week. So I go by. "It's ready" I'm told. Well, no it's not. He installed a magnet for the closure, not what I had asked for. She went back to him w/the bag, No no No he keeps saying for putting buckles on (that they have in stock I might add) She insists...he changes his mind, It will take another week. No chance I'm leaving the bag again. His wife (?) is insisting I leave it, but at this point I just want my bag, pay for the "work" he did and leave. I did tell her "He obviously does not want to do the job" and unfortunately she is embarrassed but there is nothing to be done. Just discovered this "Jem" of a business! Needed a few pairs of shoes repaired quickly and was accommodated with same day service! It's not just a repair shop but a complete go to for anything needed for shoe care! Also there are many nice comfort shoe brands available here for men and women, reasonably priced! If you need Laces, orthotics, shoe stains, leather creams etc they have it all! Jose the owner was a soft spoken gentleman with a hard working presence. This is by far my favorite shoe repair shop. The owner is quiet but friendly. He only takes cash or a check but does excellent work at a very fair price. I have a lift put on my left shoe for all my new shoes. He has done every kind of sole I have brought him so far, which has been about 6 shoes as of this review. From running shoes & tennis shoes to low heeled open toed shoes for my daughter's wedding. The review by Rachel L. in 2016 has only good things to say about this shop so I am perplexed as to why she only gave a 3 star rating. I'm sure the guy there works hard and does a good job, but I was utterly unimpressed with the customer service. I went out of my way driving to the Iona area to get three pairs of shoes re-soled ($18 for men's shoes, $24 and $26 for high heels). I even pointed out that I was a first time customer. There's a sign at the door that states they only accept cash or check and that you shouldn't go in if you have the flu. Also no alterations if you go in 1 hour before they close. Way to make your customers feel valued and welcome, not. Edit: I gave it an additional star to my original 3 star review because the quality of work was outstanding. I went to Solemate to have lifts replaced on my shoes. I was told that it would cost $17.00 and not be fixed until late July. I left with my shoes in hand. I called Magic Shoe and was told that it would be $7.00 and possibly a week. To my surprise Jose fixed my shoes while I waited. It took less than 15 min and he did a superb job. read more

Tiny shop in Gulf Points Square next to Subway! Shares a suite space with a small alterations shop next door, so don't confuse the two. Needed a quick turnaround on getting a couple pairs of shoes re-heeled before I went out of town. The owner was very nice & is likely the only person working in the store full time, so I really appreciated his willingness to accommodate my request for a next day pick up. Prices were very fair -- $6 per pair of shoes to be re-heeled. Not sure what he charges for other services, but I was very satisfied with the quality of his work. Keep your expectations realistic as he seems to be a one man show, so I am sure quick turnarounds aren't his everyday thing. Also, worth calling ahead to make sure he is open, in case he decides to close early one day or is away on vacation.
