I AM BEYOND DISAPPOINTED WITH VALUE CITY. As a long time customer its very disheartening. I ordered a queen size mattress, a king bed with mattress and box spring, 2 dressers. I purchased them in May. I also purchased a dining room set the same day. Dining room set was delivered no issues. This bedroom funiture has been nothing but trouble here I am almost a month later still sleeping on a mattress in the floor,(oh wait I forgot a box spring too we graduated) because they can't seem to get the delivery right. First I was told they have the queen mattress in. But not dressers or king bed. So they were going to deliver the queen bed and come back with rest. Long story short I get everything delivered except footboard, headboard frame for king bed. And when I called I get remember I told you they were damaged. NO I REMEMBER YOU SAYING THE DRESSERS WERE DAMAGED. SO EVERY WEEK ITS A DIFFERENT STORY. I was told my bed would be in this week. The 10th, or 11th I called today now it's June 17th. I dont think im ever getting thos bed. Im 2 steps from saying cancel it and not pay them. This whole time through thos whole ordeal not one manager has offered anything to makeup for this ordeal. That is not how you do business. Instead of blaming new delivery system. And new delivery system blaming them. Why not try to keep a customer coming back. Offer us something. Throw in something for the aggravation. I will not be buying from here anymore. I hope administration sees this, or the higher ups. Value City in Fairfield NJ is a complete joke. Back in early November my mom placed an order for a sofa, love seat, and living room accessories as she wanted to gift herself a new set. I, ofcourse, went with her to pick out something nice and offer my opinion. We went on a Saturday and returned back on a Wednesday, the 11th to make the purchase. As I called the actual store to find out the delivery date, which I found out was supposed to be for this past Sunday the 12th, I decided to place up our old furniture sofa and loveseat up for donation. Two extremely nice gentleman came Saturday evening and were able to pick up and carry out our sofa and loveseat out to Paterson for her home. Yesterday the delivery comes and the truck drivers are here within five minutes & decide it's too big to bring into our house. Mind you the sofa and loveseat that we donated were in fact a bit bigger and had no issues being taken out of our home on Saturday. I think they just didn't want to do the extra work. Sucks they missed out on a good tip for their hard work. As I get the round about today to the service department , I've been transferred to all different departments today to help solve this problem, I am told that the loveseat is not part of the order!! I was specifically with my mom when she made the order. The sales rep did not include it in the order. My mom wanted the whole set , sofa, love seat, center living room table and two end tables. A lapse of misunderstanding that results in the sales rep not earning what could have been a solid commitment. And of-course is not having any furniture at the moment having to start from scratch yet again. So now we have another issue. Oh and for the sofa to be delivered it would have to be broken down & reassemble and there would be an extra $180 for that service which was never disclosed to us when we first made the order in the first place. So as you can imagine I am frustrated and annoyed that I cannot get through to the sales person because he called out sick and we now have a living room with nowhere to sit. So I unfortunately had to post my experiences on social media and go in person today to cancel the entire order. The manager was kind and helpful and even refunded the taxes that were paid. But even though we were offered to select other items, the experience of this after waiting a whole month and three days to deal with this left a terrible taste. Such a shame because my mom was looking forward to having entirely new furniture to enjoy this holiday season and years to come. Such a disappointment. read more

Don't go here. Stay far away! There are much better places to go in the area. Was told Oct 23 delivery, which was approximately 4 weeks out due to COVID. Date rolls around, no call or update from our salesperson, so we called. November 9. Called a few days before, and now it's November 16 in stock date. When asked if this date was a guarantee, the woman on the phone was sarcastic and rude. Terrible communication and customer service, wouldn't recommend to anyone. I wish I could turn back time and buy my couch from someplace else, maybe I wouldn't be sitting on the floor of my living room still at 2 months later. If I could give negative stars I would. I bought a sectional from here three or so months ago and when I asked if the couch was sturdy, I got an adamant yes. First, the delivery was on time but the delivery person did not wear a mask until I legit begged him to do so. He gave me an attitude and practically denied COVID was a thing. Whatever, he ended up wearing a mask--not covering his nose--and I got a couch with no COVID. Fast forward to November and the couch breaks from normal use. I'm a big guy but not that big. To my surprise, I find out that the couch frame is made of particle board. For those not in the know, particle board is practically paper when compared to other quality woods. Absent turning the couch upside down, there's no way to tell unless . . . you have a broken couch and need to see what's up. I called customer service who rudely told me there was nothing I could do. I bought the couch "as is" but only on the promise that it was a sturdy couch. Lesson learned. Customer service did everything short of telling me to fuck off. Tldr; Never buy anything from Value City. The items are shoddy and the customer service blows. Taking advantage of desperate customers during a pandemic makes you disgusting. read more

We spent over 11000 on furniture in November for our new home. Couch came defective repair man comes says he has to order new parts. Then bed was in stock but the truck is full. January comes parts for the couch aren't in yet I called they said they would replace the couch it will be in stock by feb 21 well came and past still no couch. Now they saying the couch would not be in till end of March really value city this is how you treat customers???? read more

As a first time customer experiencing value city furniture I can tell you that I will never recommend your company to any of my friends or family. As a healthcare front line worker at a nursing home I understand the challenges COVID-19 has put on many businesses and human beings in general. I think I have been way more than patient waiting for the delivery of my sofa and my two chairs. I have had to takeoff work twice to have these separate deliveries happen. From the gecko I was promised that these would be delivered earlier but I will let it slide that COVID-19 has impacted your shipping. During our time waiting for our furniture I called to inquire where it was. I was told one story by Charles our Sales Manager, another story by the person I spoke with on the phone, and if my husband called he was told another story. Nothing added up. One person would say that it was in warehouse. One person would say it's back ordered. And one person would say it's not even in the system yet. I received a voicemail on Sunday, April 11, 2021. Stating that my last chair will be delivered on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. My husband, called and spoke with a gentleman on the phone. It was scheduled that the delivery would be in the afternoon as I was taking off from work. He was told that I would receive a phone call like I have for the other two shipments before 5 PM from the shipping company. I did not receive this phone call, so I called you all to verify. I was then told in your system that I wasn't even put in for Wednesday the 14th and that my delivery was Saturday the 17th. I informed the lady I spoke with on the phone that I was not available that day and she was able to bump it to April 16. This means that I need to takeoff of work again on Friday. I am not able to do so and will need to ask a neighbor to stand by. This is a very big disservice to your customers. In a time that is challenging for all, and businesses are struggling, I would think that customer service is above all else. Now that there is nothing you can do for us, I request that something be done. I cannot get my furniture, I took off work, and need to inconvenience a neighbor stand around for 5 hours waiting for a delivery. I look forward to speaking to someone who has my best interest in mind. Once again customers are the reason you are in business, and I as your customer do not feel Valued by Value City for my time and effort I have wasted in waiting/chasing down for this furniture. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Never in my life have I experienced such horrible customer service. I ordered a couch and a coffee table back in October and was told that the couch would be delayed but the coffee table would be no problem, 4-6 weeks. I also was not made aware that they only deliver to Manhattan on the first and third Thursday of every month. After many delays I finally received my couch, but I have yet to receive my coffee table. After WEEKS of delays it finally arrived in the warehouse. It was supposed to arrive on Thursday but the delivery was cancelled due to inclement weather (for the second time). Now my coffee table will sit in the warehouse for another 2 weeks until they will deliver it. I have talked to almost every person in the store asking for some sort of accommodation given that it will be nearly 6 months until I receive my furniture and they refuse to do anything about it. They literally could not care less about the delays. Every time I call (which is often multiple times per week) they say they'll call me back and they never do. The manager NEVER returns my calls. They sent me to the customer service line and the only thing they were able to offer me was a $75 giftcard. I will literally never step foot in this store again, why would I want a giftcard?? TLDR; The low prices are NOT worth the shitty customer service and delays. It is worth it to spend more money elsewhere and have a good experience. My family and I purchased a sofa and loveseat back in December at this location. The delivery took over a month since we did a custom color. The items received, delivery men damaged the bottom of the leg while carrying it in. Fast forward 5 months later. We were assured repeatedly that these products were high quality and extremely durable. I can tell you with over 4 living room sofas I have purchased in the past this is the lowest quality piece of furniture I have ever purchased. The stuffing in the pillows are extremely flat. The couch didn't feel like the couch we tried on the show floor. Be very careful purchasing from these people. This company and products are beyond BAD. The couch's we purchased back 5 months ago look like the couches we purchased 4 years ago. read more

Stay away from this location. Their customer service does not exist. We have waited 6 months for our furniture. I completely understand that covid has delayed deliveries. My issue is that each month when it was pushed out, they never notified us. When we call and ask to speak with Charles, the manager who sold us the furniture, he has never once called us back in 6 months. To make matters worse and possibly the reason for this review is that they offered us a discount to take the floor model and have yet to honor it. It has been 3 weeks since we accepted a used piece of furniture, yet paid for a new one. Charles is an extremely nice, sweet, friendly man that will tell you what you want to hear and then never honor what he says or even have the decency to call you back. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER SPEND THE EXTRA $$$ AND SHOP ELSEWHERE!! I was warned when I purchased in Oct there would be a delay until Dec 2020... I have called 4-5xs and cannot speak to my salesman THE MANAGER. He has not returned one call and at one point their "customer service" rep advised me to come in to speak to him as its EASIER!!!!! Now here we are in January with no updates on when my furniture will arrive, this is not how you treat people who spend 2k+ in your store. 1 star bc posting none isnt an option. read more

Try to give them another shot after the terrible and I mean terrible service with are couch. We got it after 7 months of waiting. Tried to get a ottoman to match and the terrible service started again with not being polite at ALL! I wanted to see you they can do anything about the delivery fee since we where treat so poorly last time and the guy tells me I can go pick it up over a hour away if I wanted to avoid it. He also said if I had such a bad experience why did I come back and I told him to use the gift cards that u guys sent us because you would not refund us the money instead. I truly hate leaving negative reviews on anyone's business but I'm leaving this review so no one else has to deal with their unprofessional service. My visit to the showroom was average. I was approached by the manager after walking around browsing. I told him I was very much interested in a sectional they had and that I needed to go home and make sure it would fit. He did let me know manufacturers were delayed in shipping furniture out and that it would take 4-6 weeks for the couch to be delivered. I returned back 3 days later to go ahead and purchase the sectional. The manager I spoke to prior wasn't there and so a salesperson took care of the transaction. After paying, I asked the salesperson when would it be delivered by (expecting him to give me a date in October) and he says 8-10 weeks. At this point I was annoyed because I was told 4-6 weeks only 3 days ago and it pissed me off even more that the salesperson didn't even bother to mention this info before having me sign and pay. Either way, I tried to be understanding of the fact that it was covid and it didn't bother me too much because I was buying the couch to have my family over for Thanksgiving, so with the window he gave me I should still have it in time. I called in October for a status update and I must say the woman on the phone was very rude. She said they have it on their records that it's set for a December 1st delivery and that the salesperson should have told me that. I AGREE! My salesperson SHOULD have told me that because that would mean I'm looking at a 12 week wait which means there was no way this couch would arrive in time for Thanksgiving. At this point I'm frustrated with the fact that I was mislead from the very beginning. Why tell me 4-6 weeks, then 8-10 weeks, when you guys knew all along it could be 3 months? As the customer, I want to believe this information should have been disclosed prior to me paying. All that to say, it's December 7th and I have no couch. No email, no phone call, no text from this business communicating anything regarding my order. I tried calling and while staying on hold for 15 minutes, my call got disconnected *shocker*. May I reiterate that I'm VERY understanding to the fact that there is a global pandemic going on and businesses have taken a hit due to it, but none of that is an excuse to mislead a customer. I wish that you could give less than one star for I cannot believe the service that I received from this store. I had ordered a couch back in February that was finally supposed to be delivered on 6/2. The day prior I was given a 5 hour window in which i needed to take off from work to wait to have my furniture delivered. The day the delivery team showed up, they informed me that the could not remove my existing furniture and (jose) advised me that the sales people will tell you anything to get the sale. After a few conversations with customer service, I was told that they delivery team could remove my existing couch so that my new one could be delivered. Jose then asked me "HOW MUCH ARE YOU WILLING TO PAY FOR MY HELP?" When I stated $20 he had a conversation with his partner and told me that there was a lot of work and time needed to help me, that my door needed to be removed and that $20 was not enough. I stated that my door did not need to be removed when my current couch was delivered and I could not understand why it would need to be removed to take it out. During this time, his partner had one piece of my sectional wedged in my hallway. When I went back upstairs to call customer service yet again, I watched what I thought was the empty box be thrown end over end into the truck so I went back downstairs to look at the couch. Much to my surprise, the truck pulled away! I called customer service yet again and proceeded to call and speak to the store sales manager Ahmed, which stated he would take care of. 24 hours later with no response from Ahmed, I called to speak to the General Manager George who told me he would look into and call me back to rectify. It has now been one week without a return call from ANYONE! I tried to call the corporate office and was told that they were too busy to speak with me and to call back again later. DO NOT MAKE ANY PURCHASES FROM THIS COMPANY!!! It is not worth the aggravation that it takes to get someone to help you and you are still left without any furniture. I could have ordered from another company and been enjoying my new couches already yet instead I have to spend my time dealing with rude people who refuse to help me! read more
