The yelp reviews was a bit surprising with a 1 star rating, but I had a pretty good stay. Sure, some of the Ramada branded hotels I've stayed in looked like converted apartments buildings. Others look like a remodeled versions from other hotel brands that left in previous circumstances. Regardless of what happened, the Ramada hotel brand here in Overland Park does seem a little dated, but the rooms were pretty okay. I agree that it's not the best but certainly not the worst. Ramada Overland Park is a basic hotel brand, 1 1/2 steps up from Motel 6, and was glad that they were here. The accommodations were as basic as you can get from a 2 star hotel, but that was what I expected. A decent roof over my head with a great night's at an affordable price. All the extra bells and whistles can be tossed aside, if the price comes down with it. For me, the budget friendly option applies here and I am happy that Ramada caters to the budget friendly traveler and I can squeeze more out of the budget than just for the hotel room. Thanks Ramada for giving the budget minded traveler one more option when trying to choosing our hotel options. You make it better. The price just makes me smile. The overall experience here at this Ramada hotel was good, decent, positive, and comfortable. While the hotel itself was basic and interesting, it's still one of those hotels that can deliver a definite bang for your travel dollar, if you let it. The pretty cool thing about this Ramada hotel property was the fact that the common area in the lobby has a swimming pool, which wasn't in use. Everything seemed dark and not used, but I wasn't concerned since I didn't use that hotel amenity anyway. This Ramada hotel is located at 7240 Shawnee Mission Parkway in Overland Park, KS. The lobby was fine and the overall impression of the hotel interior was decent. The complimentary continental breakfast was pretty good and got in my full both mornings I was there. They accept major credit cards, which is always a good thing, as well as a valid form of identity upon check in. The service here was very minimal, save for the check in and out process. That was friendly and fast. There is ample hotel parking spaces for everyone around the hotel property. Best best is to get here early before rush hour begins, so you don't have to be in your car, if you don't have to. The cool thing is that there is a gas station across the street from the hotel. Many restaurants are nearby on Johnston Avenue and surrounding areas. For the most part though, the two nights i stayed was pretty good and I had a good night's worth both times. While there wasn't much air condition to speak of, the weather outside was already cold - around mid 40s F in late October, so having no air conditioning was rather a benefit at the time. The room itself was pleasant, clean, and everything seemed to be working pretty well and no major issues. The hotel wifi was alright and fast for what I had done for me. The bed was a king sized and I was quite comfortable and getting that good night's rest was important and vital to my line of lifestyle. It was nice to have a tub, so I could fill the tub with watch and ice from the ice maker and soak my legs in there for about 30 minutes. Used the microwave and the mini fridge in the room, which is supposed to come standard in the room. I know Ramada can get a bad rap, but I know I did get a good stay at a comfortable but basic level. You get what you pay for and it was a good stay without the bells and whistles. Sometimes, saving money while traveling is a good thing and I accomplished that. I would recommend this hotel chain, if you are are budget minded traveler and don't mind the basic comfort that goes along with these kinds of accommodations. It's safe and comfortable. Friendly and fast service with complimentary continental breakfast. 4.0 stars for the overall experience, 4.0 stars for the service. The lady at the front was nice and friendly. I stayed in a King Sized Bed Accessible room, but I didn't really consider it a handicap room. Yes, the bathroom did have a few handrails, but the shower was a good sized step up. Plus right in front of the tub a puddle of liquid was lurking there? Not sure exactly what the liquid consisted of? Just used a towel to put down and wipe up. I did try the hot tub out, which was excellent. It was just the right temperature and had great compression. Just wish the timer was longer! I wanted to use the computer out in the business center that evening because I had some things that needed to be printed off. I went to use it and it's password protected. The gentleman at the front desk told me the code, but it didn't work. He came over to log in, but couldn't figure the password out. He did call someone else and tried again, but still didn't work. So he said someone would be around in the morning to help me, but mornings are always busy! The breakfast was okay. Everything was up to temperature- hot/cold items. The breakfast staff member was friendly as well. Giving it 3 stars because of the problems. Overall a decent place with a great location to the highway. The hotel was 10 minutes from the place I needed to be, and I'm a Hilton credit card holder (as well as IHG) so I chose it. The good: -The room was very clean and overall comfortable. It wasn't the fanciest Hampton I've stayed at but it had a shower/bath combo and really nice shower products too. -Super fast check in ... probably because I had already checked in on the app. -this is going to sound weird but the toilet flushed fast. The last hotel I stayed at had a very slow-flushing toilet which always made me nervous. -I'm Hilton Gold because I'm a cc holder and they gave me a little welcome bag with Lorna Doone cookies and Planters nut mix when I arrived, plus there were two water bottles in my room. They also said I could choose a soda if I wanted. The okay: -breakfast had some hot items which was nice but your standard eggs/potato/sausage offerings. -Room didn't have any overhead lights except in the entryway. Everything else was a lamp (not counting bathroom) -The hotel is RIGHT next to the highway so if you can't sleep with (muffled) traffic noises then this is not the hotel for you -Bed duvet was nice but bed itself was a little lumpy. The curtains were filthy, the place smelled like menthol cigarettes mixed with pond water, and there were both dead and alive bugs everywhere. It was so horrendous that we cancelled and found a different place to stay at. Only check in to this hotel if you want to check out with some six or eight legged friends.
