I took my car to Valvoline to see if it needed antifreee or water because my Engine Temperature HOT warning came on. They saw me coming. They made all these assurance and told me I needed a radiator flush because the antifreeze was dark and sludgy; they informed me my oil was completely empty even though I had recently checked it about a week prior and it was full; they told me I needed an engine flush in addition to radiator flush. they said it would need an air filter and a synthetic oil change (fill-up since if it was empty there was nothing to "change." $316 later they sent me on my way and the engine temp warnings came back. At a mechanic shop a little further up Route 17, I learned the car had most likely blown the head gasket and the oil and antifreeze were mixing and the engine would need major repairs. Valvoline knew the antifreeze was dark and sludgy and there was no oil. They sold me all these services when they should have advised me to have a mechanic look at it. They sold me services on a car that ended up being junked 2 days later. I understand the car had 130,000 miles and these things happen with respect to the mechanical problem. But I asked for a refund of the useless services I was conned into because Valvoline had enough evidence and experience with fluids to know I needed to be sent to a mechanic. But instead they sold me on all these services they knew were not going to fix a serious engine problem. The manager said he would consider my request if I would meet a regional manager's rep at my house where the car had been towed. I met a rep of the Poughkeepsie Valvoline who took pics and told me he didn't know what happened in Lodi but he would not have done radiator flush, engine flush, air filter change and synthetic oil fill up. He said he could clearly see there was a significant leak. Area manager then did nothing and allowed the store manager's decision (to not refund me the $316) to stand. I am waiting to hear back and will be escalating from the area manager to the Market Manager next week if I do not get a resolution in 2 business days as per their 1-800 customer care line. Not feeling like a "cared" about customer. Feeling like a Patsy they saw coming and cheated out of $316 for services the car would not need. read more

My experience started on the phone. The guy on the phone (I don't remember his name, I'm so sorry ) he went above and beyond to helping me and trying to find my car info through the phone. He was patient with all my questions and provided pricing on all the services requested. Therefore, just off that, I went straight there. When I arrived, I got taken care of quickly. Went to Lodi, NJ location cause I wanted to get a car wash when I was done. My truck is a 2018 with around 51,000 miles on it and never had a problem. While I'm having oil changed I asked if they can check tire pressure and a minute later he says he couldn't get the caps off the stems and I said you didn't even try but was told I must've missed it, but when I get home I'm able to screw them off. The worker was very rude, now almost week later my wife's driving home on rt 3 and hears metal scraping under car and pulls over and the skid shield was hanging on by one pin and was totally mangled. Thankfully it didn't come flying off and cause accident. I've been to the East Rutherford location many times and have never had a problem, this shop needs new workers. read more

This was my fifth oil change that I had done at this Valvoline Oil location. I was disappointed at the Rochelle Park shop after they told me that they were "out of oil" unable to service my car. This location was out of the filter for my vehicle but the attendant advised me to purchase on at a local Auto Zone and he would change the oil. I bought the filter and had my oil changed a few days later. I like having my oil changed here because "this attendant" checks all exterior light bulbs for operation which most people have no idea if theirs are actually working. The price is steep but this shop is consistently good. read more

Is there a zero rating? They neglected to close the hood of my vehicle correctly which resulted in it flying open while driving on a major highway, now they are claiming zero responsibility. The entire hood is bent and needs to be replaced. UPDATE - rep called and they denied any fault and closed the case. Please, please don't go there, I literally almost died and if I can prevent this from happening to another person then my horrible experience will be worth going through. read more

I went to this place because it's near were I live, have my own oil and filter and was charged $35. There's as nothing wrong with car since it's new but they suddenly said the car wont start, i as told it was the battery that needed to be replaced but the battery is new but i bought it per their recommendation. Today i took my car to a different mechanic and i notice the poles of the battery were loose and is was missing the rods that holds the battery and the battery cover ,so probably I didn't need a new battery ,i cant blame this place because I didn't see my self but i won coming back that's for sure. read more

Corporate Valvoline didn't want to pay for the damage on my wife's car... after leaving their shop and gathering speed on the highway, the hood popped open and actually hit the windshield and roof - major damage to car... they claim that the hood latch malfunctioned between the time after leaving their shop and the incident. Small claims court seems to be our best option. All I can say is extremely disappointed with the customer relations people who at first seemed very willing to accept some responsibility. Now, somehow it's my wife's fault... can't make this up.... read more
