This place checks all the boxes. Without a doubt the ambiance is dark inside but still cozy. It felt very intimate with the atmosphere of Halloween. I've never experienced anything like it until now. The food is honorably delicious. I got an Acai bowl. The Acai is from Tropical Acai. A very good brand. My wife had The Tuxedo. It's gluten free. She enjoyed it gave it an 8/10. I came here with a group after getting a recommendation from a friend who is local to Aiken. I had never heard of a Vampire Penguin but was anxious to try it out. The shaved ice reminded me of eating fresh snow in Vermont but topped with all kinds of sweet goods. I ordered the peanut butter cup, but there were so many options to choose from. Plenty of seating for our group, and very well decorated for fun pictures with the kids. Everyone enjoyed their snow / ice / dessert treat order. Would come back again here in a heartbeat. read more

Ummm, yum!!! New to the area but while walking by the super cute downtown area we found this absolute gem. Our family decided on one of the favorites called Coco something. Topped with whip, chocolate drizzle, & of course coco crispy flakes. They call it snow and it so is. It's not heavy like ice cream, but also not like shaved ice. We're all at a loss for words on how to describe just how yummy this is. read more

The shaved snow was amazing! The taste, presentation and the experience of the dessert itself is so worth it. It's not like any other dessert I've experienced. It's softer than shaved ice, it really is shaved snow. The atmosphere and decor were creative; you can appreciate the effort that was put into decorating even if you're not really into the Halloween or goth theme. I only give 3 stars because of the service at this particular location. The server gave us unwrapped straws that they touched barehanded. In a post Covid era that's disgusting and unsanitary. If the unwrapped straws and utensils are a way to keep expenses low, consider cutting costs elsewhere for the safety of your patrons. As we enjoyed the atmosphere and the experience of our shaved snow and other treats we purchased, we started to notice that everyone that entered the establishment was greeted and as they left they were joyfully bid adieu. Then we recalled that we were not greeted when we entered. We finished our desserts and then headed to the door and exited the building; without a goodbye. Our visit to Vampire Penguin wasn't during a busy time, and if more than one party entered the establishment at a time, each party was greeted, except for us. The only difference I could see between us and the other patrons was skin color. It's 2024, do better. This company was founded by two amazing brothers from the Philippines--the more you know. Overall, Vampire Penguin has wonderful desserts and I'm hoping to have better experiences at the other locations. read more

The only reason I couldn't give a 5/5 star is because the service can be very slow. After asking for a name when ordering and that name being called out, a staff member shouted at my 13 year old son for walking up to collect the dish. It was her volume, tone, and unnecessary remarks about it being her job and not his to retrieve the dish. The store wasn't busy nor was there a line when this occurred. It upset my both of my children (who have just lost their grandmother) and it startled the other patrons because of the aggressive nature she handled herself. Upon leaving, other guests stopped me to say they had planned on speaking with her because it was upsetting for everyone witnessing her behave that way. read more
