I can't recommend Amstaphy enough. Admittedly, pet photography is a bit of a luxury indulgence. However, Martin makes sure your money is well spent and you'll not have buyer's remorse. The entire process was so enjoyable; communication was great, the session was fun, and the prints were beautiful. I booked a full session with Martin at his studio downtown for me, my husband, and our cats. Martin made the time fly by. He was super friendly, fast and efficient; he knows how to get great shots out of your pets. Our cats are super friendly and not terribly skittish, but still Martin was a calming presence and they responded really well to him. A minor hiccup happened after the session where a portion of our proofs got lost because of a malfunctioned memory card. Martin was extremely apologetic and professional while relaying the news and remedying the situation. We set up another re-do session free of charge, and he gave me a discount on an add-on that is normally an additional cost. The pictures turned out even better than the first time since everybody was more familiar with him and the process. Turnaround for delivery of our proofs was about a week, possibly a bit less. Getting our final pictures took a little less than two weeks after we made our selections, but it probably took him longer for us because we ordered additional prints outside our package because we loved so many shots! I definitely would recommend Amstaphy to anyone who was interested in getting their pet immortalized in pixel form. I'm sure my family will book another session with him in the future when it's time to bust out embarrassing Christmas card photos next year. :P

Martin's generous work at the dog shelter won me over when I was considering the session as a birthday gift.

After communicating with a few places and feeling like I wasn't finding a great fit, I spoke with Jen and immediately knew that we found our right fit. Jen was hilarious, welcoming, and really took time to hear about my story with my dog and my dog's personality to carefully think about ideas for good backgrounds for the shoot. There was an email breakdown after our call and communication remained clear throughout when it came to scheduling. Since we chose an outdoor photoshoot, we had to plan on not only sunshine, but other weather conditions that Jen was in communication about that are optimal for pup shoots. Jen and Jeff are true professionals, they came ready to go and left no trick behind to get some AMAZING shots for our summer photo shoot in Olive Park. We couldn't have asked for anything better. My dog is pretty relaxed, but sometimes doesn't respond to command cues and they worked their magic to establish some incredible moments. They made the day so easygoing and I was not nearly as worried as I thought I would be. Their prices for everything were beyond fair for the amount of work they put into the editing, travel, etc. In fact, I loved their photos so much that I have returned for their Halloween (or Howl-oween!!) and Christmas shoot. The sets they make for the holiday/theme shoots are INCREDIBLE and the attention to detail is something that adds such a layer of uniqueness to the experience. It's never the same :) It's quite rare to find such wonderful quality people as Jen and Jeff. Their work is top notch and I am so thankful they helped celebrate and capture the magic that is my dog Moira. You can tell Jen and Jeff care about making each experience so much fun and they care about each pet they encounter. Like I said, it's rare to find people like them these days. They truly care about you and your pets. Don't miss out on the experience with them :)

Gracie does a lot of art photography, but has expanded and built her business for portraiture. I was stuck between the different categories Gracie offers for portraiture, but Gracie was gracious enough to have a free consultation meeting (her website says you should meet her at Forte, where she shoots-- but she was open to meeting anywhere. I'm not sure if she still does this, but she did when I asked about portraits) where she asked me about what I was looking for, and explained each option thoroughly. Once you pick an option (in my case the 'unique' category,) she will ask you about your preferences, more about you, and more to attempt to get a feel for a concept. She will come up with a couple concepts, you pay a deposit, set a date, and she takes care of everything else. She'll just tell you what outfit to wear (and she might even grab something else for you,) but she takes care of literally everything pertaining to the shoot: background, accessories, makeup. You name it, she'll do it. She's so funny and kind, and has such rapport that you feel so at ease with her. Let her take your photos. They are an investment, but a worthwhile one. Even if it's a simple portrait shoot-- you would be lucky to have Gracie take your photos!

I needed a head shot for a writing project but didn't just want your basic boring stuff. I was referred to Gracie by a friend who had used her talents previously. Not only did she capture the mood I was going for, I got to see some of her other work. She really has a talent for making a subject shine in her photos, from family shots to pet portraits to things that are best in the boudoir. She has had gallery shows as well. I'm not easily impressed with pictures of myself, but these were the very best I ever had taken. She was patient, listened to what i needed, and then made suggestions based on my needs- not her own. The session was very professional and I got to take a few things along to change into. If you want something special and far better than the tacky stuff you get at Sears, go see Gracie. Let her create something unique for you. You will not be sorry. For the price of one night out you'll have something that you'll always be pleased and happy to show others.
