Had the good fortune to be treated to the VIP ticket at this experience. First of all, get the VIP ticket. You really might as well. It includes the VR and a free very handsome and decently sized poster at the end - of your choice! Perhaps I expected to be a tad more "immersed"; I think the marketing certainly capitalizes on that and gives you the impression that the whole thing is like the 360-degree room. It is not. However, it's fine as you still get multiple photo ops, tons of multimedia fun based on van Gogh and his work, a neat room where guests can color their own van Gogh and either leave it up on the wall or take it with, walls of reproductions of famous works, and ample explanation of van Gogh and his life. That's a lot. The other good thing about this exhibition is it's totally self paced. You can take an hour, you can take 3 hours, you can take 15 minutes. I don't know if that changes when it's busier on weekends, but we were left totally alone to meander however we wanted, including meandering backward. As I sat in the 360 degree space and images of van Gogh's trains rushed by, I thought, how great would this be for a little kid? How much could this inspire a young child to pursue the arts? How much? A lot. And I think this a lot as I wish I saw more people taking their kids to artistic experiences like these. This is not like a real museum but I thought it was a great exhibit. Definitely recommend to others. I absolutely love the experience. I didnt know his life was so sad and he has problem with his ear after this exhibit. With his condition, i think nowadays we called it "depression" but most of his action shows different. He always use bright color and his art work always looks so colorful and not depressed i guess. I was a little depressed when I got home after that day tbh .until today his quotes still stuck in my head which are "what would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything" and "The sadness will last forever" If he lived in this generation, I think his condition probably wouldn't get that worse. read more

Ok. I might be late for this exhibition BUT no that it's not crowded with people with FOMO, it was nice to attend with few people, NO MASK required, easy way to park, so me and my family enjoyed it. What is it about? It portrays Vincent's life through his paints, videos and 3D images trying to explain his art. You'll find interactive famous paints (like the bedroom with 2 chairs and bed) The best part is the huge room where you can chill, listen classical music while you see the art flowing through videos on the walls. At the end you can draw your own paint and portrait it on the wall, and for $5 enjoy a VR experience. I honestly think the whole experience is kind of pricey though. read more

It was interactive, fun, engaging and awe-inspiring. Colleagues at work gave me the ticket for this event. I'm glad I came. It was very refreshing. When you walk in you see these frames that tell stories of Vincent Van Gogh's life. It set's you up for the main hall which features the artists work. It's a cool experience with the walls changing all around you. It's a different way of viewing art I guess in the modern age. I suggest to read up on Van Gogh a little bit before coming so you will appreciate what you see and have a little more context. It's still good even if you don't cuz of the lights and sounds. I also liked the soundtrack which is why I pulled it up on Spotify. It's very soothing and comforting. The ticket is worth it if your are paying for it. There's parking on the streets. I attended the exhibit tonight with my friend. I would recommend this for any art lover. There are prints of Van Gogh's pieces presented as paintings. A giant head of the artist with lights ever changing the scene. There is a replica of his room at the mental hospital. The large room with seating on benches, beach chairs and a square section in the middle along with cozy rugs on the floor seems to hold 100 people and there's still social space between them. Music plays, Vivaldi, as scenes of Van Gogh's work springs to life. Occasionally, a male narrator, acting as the artist, quotes him. The paintings and scenes are splashed on the 4 walls and floor. People whisper. Children are quiet. After this, you step into an area to color one of the masters or create your own. Then, sign it, take it to the scanner and your art goes into the screen. Many cover the walls. Next us a souvenir shop. Prices are high - $90 for a print, $16 for a 3D postcard. Last, there are a few pieces that have been enlarged to jumbo size. Vaccine cards are checked and masks are required. Photos are welcome, but no flash photography. $10 parking for 2 hours across the street. We spent 90 minutes here. read more

I love van Gogh, so was excited to see that the immersive experience was taking place in Seattle. As soon as tickets became available, I purchased for months in advance - and the tickets were not cheap. They were nearly $60 per person for a Saturday visit. After months of anticipation, I sadly thought this exhibition was A-OK. My friend and I came here during our designated time and the place was busy. After checking in, the first part of the exhibition invites you to learn more about van Gogh and see replications of his more famous pieces. There were some immersive pieces there, but nothing spectacular. I think it's cool that if you don't know much about the artist, it goes into detail about this. However, the artwork itself is far from the real thing. I'd rather just see actual artwork from van Gogh! Then in the giant room where everyone is invited to sit and watch the different lights and images appear, I thought this was the most disappointing. The show was short and how they chose the pieces is a mystery. The room was also crowded. Not worth the money. Afterwards, you're invited in the next room to color your own picture of a van Gogh image, like coloring book pages, and then in the last room before the gift area is where you can pay an additional fee for a virtual reality option. As if paying for tickets to this wasn't already enough. Gifts were also very expensive, with prices marked up, just because it's a replication of a van Gogh painting and has his name on it. This was a unique and interesting date night adventure. We are NOT well versed in art, but familiar with Van Gogh's most popular pieces. It was fascinating to learn about Van Gogh's life, and the controversial ear incident! There were a few pieces that played with the lighting and multidimensional aspects of Van Gogh's art. You had to sit and simply enjoy art being displayed in non traditional ways. For someone who is constantly moving and multitasking; this was a truly immersive exhibit that forced me to be still. We arrived around 6pm which was the latest time slot available. There were a handful of people in the exhibit, which made it feel as if we had the entire space to ourselves. The huge room with 360 projectors of art was awesome and THE BEST part of the exhibit. Fishes swam under your feet and above your head, and you sit to enjoy it all. We had VIP passes which included 2 posters, and the $5 VR experience; which was so cool! It felt as if I was walking inside the world of the paintings. I could turn around in my chair, without leaving that world. It's almost scary; but an unforgettable experience. The price point was high, but so is everything else in Seattle. For a unique experience like this; it was worth it. We even purchased our own Canvas replica on the way out. read more

Words cannot express how wonderful, incredible and amazing this exhibit is. It was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. It was slow getting there (traffic) and at first I had some issues with trying to figure out how to pay for parking, but some very nice people in the parking t helped me manuver the ap. Despite that, the entire experience was SO, SO worth it! The place wasn't crowded at all, and in, I walked right inside. I'm not kidding when I say that it was like walking into a dream. The employees at the entrance were having trouble with their internet and it took a little while to access my ticket on my phone, but they upgraded me to the VIP experience for free. Totally not necessary, but I was very grateful. With the VIP experience, I got to go in the room with the 3D headsets and watch a video. It makes you feel like you're walking through Van Gogh's paintings! I also got a "Starry Starry Night" lanyard and a poster of the "Café Terrace At Night " You really feel like you're surrounded by Van Gogh's paintings and there are plenty of displays (some digital) that talk about his life. The biggest/best part of the exhibit is the huge room that has the 360 degree interchangeable video that projects on all four walls and the floor, accompanied by Van Gogh's 'voice' and absolutely gorgeous music. I was able to walk through the exhibit twice and although time limits prevented it, (The parking was only for two hours) I loved the art room where you can color Van Gogh's masterpieces and then scan them where they show up on a screen. I didn't have time to color one, but it was fun to walk around in the room anyway. The gift shop is at the end, but unlike most places, I didn't feel pressured or intimidated to buy anything. I did 'splurge' on a "Starry Starry Night" teddy bear (hey, I couldn't resist) but it was only $22 and I don't think that tax was charged. The employee on duty was extremely nice and friendly. I could go on and on but I think my point is made. This exhibit is wonderful and I'm so glad that I went! All of the five star reviews are absolutely spot on. The 'worst' part was traveling to the exhibit in Downtown Seattle, but it was so worth it. Before I went to this, I checked out a bunch of books about Van Gogh and of course, while it's not necessary to do so, it enhanced my visit because I knew a little bit about him going in. I found a very thick book in the gift shop (and thankfully my library had it) that is probably very detailed, so I'm anxious to read it. I see that other Yelp members didn't have the same experience that I had and reacted it one star. I loved it. It was much better than my expectations and I'm so glad that I wasn't disappointed. Had the staff not been so nice and super helpful it might have changed my rating. I'm not going to lie. It is a little pricey and the reason I went on a weekday is because I wasn't able to apply the $5 discount on my Fever ap (why is everything in 2023 only accessible through aps?). I discovered that by going on the day I went, it ended up being the same price as it would have been on a Sunday with the discount. Yes, I suppose a regular art museum would be more rewarding and perhaps less expensive but believe me you are not going to get the same kind of experience. To me, this was the perfect combination. I didn't find the temperature uncomfortable at all, but I went in the morning (around 10:30) on a weekday, and even at 1230 when I left, it wasn't that hot outside. I wish it hadn't been in downtown Seattle, but like I said the worst parts were driving in slow traffic and trying to figure out how to pay for the dang parking (again, aps seem to rule the world these days. Kind of aggravating for us 'old-schoolers'), but once I arrived (it's right off of Edgar Martinez drive, down the street from T-Mobile park), there was plenty of parking in the parking lot in front of the building and I think that I only saw about 50 people total while I was there. The most crowded was the big room with the video, but it was easy to take pictures and just sit and watch. My only wish is the images had been projected on the ceiling, but I'm not complaining at all. It's just that having them on the ceiling, walls and floor would have really completed the experience. Given the camera placement, I don't think that was possible, but a girl can dream. I highly recommend doing this at least once. I was actually hoping to go next month for my birthday but the people at Fever told me that it's closing on the 30th. I don't know if that's true, but if/when it comes back, I would love to go again. I'd even pay for the VIP experience. I can get a different poster this time! BTW, the posters were $14, so that's a great deal to get one free and it comes in a bag with "Starry Starry Night" on it. Well worth the wait!! When I first heard of this exhibit I knew I wanted to experience it in person. I purchased the time entry tickets via Fever months in advance. As a child I spent many Saturday afternoons at museums with my father, as I parent I was so thrilled my two year was intrigued by the art, installation pieces, and especially immersive experience. The audio was fairly low, but audible and each piece was accompanied with a QR code allowing you to follow in real time. There is a lot of parking available on-site, and it is $10. My pictures don't do the immersion exhibit justice at all, tickets are still available I highly recommend visiting before it leaves Seattle. read more

We visited on a week night in late Dec. Tickets are cheaper on weeknights at $41pp vs $60 (I think) on weekends. $41 is still a wee high but tolerable. As a big Van Gogh fan, it's worth the cost. I wouldn't pay the weekend price though. If it isn't obvious, there are no actual Van Gogh artwork here. Go to a museum for that. Section 1: Virtual Museum For those unfamiliar with Van Gogh, this is a great section to learn about the artist. Even as someone who is very familiar with his works, I learned about his lesser known and lesser seen works. Two stand-outs: - The vase with the video projection of his floral works. There are so many more varieties than the popular sunflowers, irises, and almond blossoms. - The wall with multiple sunflower artworks projected in their actual sizes. No one ever gets to see them side-by-side like these. A ding - I wish the projections were crisper in this section. We stayed through two and a half rounds of the video, watching and taking an insane number of photos. Section 4: Coloring table Choose from eight variations of his artwork, grab a pack of crayons, and be a 4-year-old. A table full of adults were going nuts on them. Me - I just took them and left. It's simple, Don't go! The exhibit was not overly crowded and there wasn't a line (on either side) at my appointed time. As stated elsewhere, there were no actual Van Gogh's in the exhibit. But that allowed them to show variations in several van gogh themes you could not do else where. i did enjoy the educational displays & explanations. The 3 dimensional instantiations of his vase paintings was novel. The VR ($5 for non VIP) was worth the experience. Thought this was a great exhibit. I'm not a huge art lover but a friend wanted to give me a trip as a birthday present so of course I have no idea of the cost. She purchased VIP tickets which probably were over priced but there was no line for VIPs and at the end as part of the package you got to put on VR glasses and spend a typical day with Van Gogh. The first part of the exhibit was primarily copies of pictures and history which was interesting but the crowning jewel was at the end where everyone went into a huge room and it truly was an immersion in Van Gogh. After a few entry rooms of various multimedia art displays, you walk into a large room where you sit on carpets and are completely immersed in cascading art on all four sides of you paired with music and words by Van Gogh. It was definitely a pleasure to see this exhibit and I would recommend to anyone. They did a good job of checking vaccination as you walked in and tried to make natural spots for people to sit socially distanced. I really liked the exhibits outside of the room as well which were very informative, as well as had some cool 3D recreations. I was so excited for this exhibit I bought tickets in the spring and was delighted to attend the showing on Christmas Eve! I've been a Van Gogh fan for a long time and always enjoyed his works. If you are a fan of his popular works is a great way to see lesser known pieces. If you're a more hardcore fan it's a nice way to look at his piece with a new light and be given background and insight that we know through record keeping of his siblings. The museum portion was lovely, and not nearly as crowded as I expected which was great. They also have a 3D cast room to classical music and some of his quotes being read. The final area has coloring sheets you can color in the room and scan them to the wall like a virtual collage! It was probably meant for kids but it definitely had a lot of interested adults (myself included!) and was an unexpected part of the experience. Worth every penny in my book! read more

One of the best experiences ever!!! I'm so glad we finally decided to visit the Van Gogh exhibit after pushing it out this long. You need to visit this place whether or not you like art. There is something for everyone! It's amazing how well the whole exhibit is put together and the effort is applaudable. There weren't many people when we went there which helped us walk through peacefully. It's not just a random gallery with paintings thrown together. You will get absorbed into Van Gogh's life and work as you progress through the exhibit. Do not rush through it. Take time to read and observe. The paintings are spellbinding anyway. But the story behind them is the winner. The immersive experience at the end is one of a kind and will leave you wanting for more. Do not miss out on the VR experience before you exit. You don't need a vip ticket for it. It's available for $5/per person when you get there! However, BEWARE of the crazy parking scenario. It isn't free and there is a private parking company in that site that will scam the daylight out of you. We parked right out since there were no signs when we went there. Figured I'll either risk it or give it away. Glad I didn't have to give it away!! Went on a Friday afternoon last week and it was VERY BUSY! Like in you can't stand next to any painting at all crowded because there were 20 plus people next to each one. Minus 1 star for that! Not sure why we have time slots if it's gonna be over crowded anyway?? Walked around the experience 3 times to see the whole thing. It's beautiful with most of Van Gogh's well known work/ paintings. And his life, history behind it. The experience room was great if and when you can find a space to sit safely. You'll see everything from the flowers, starry night over the Rhone to the seascape near Les Saintes! You can also paint your own, scan and add it to the wall. Also try VR experience of his story for $5 extra. And see/ buy copy of some of his famous work at the end. Glad I went but it is way too crowded! Woah. Getting here was kinda crazy with all the construction going on. We were sweating the time block aspect of our tickets but the staff was understanding and very pleasant. This is an excellent exhibit. We spent about 2.5 hours in this small building packed with so much. There is this awesome room where you can just lay on the floor or sit in comfy chairs and watch all around you the walls morph into different scenes. This was a really great exhibit and a lot of fun for the entire family. Walk through the halls of Van Gogh's artwork. Then enter a room with a video display of his work. The 360-digital art show was extremely well done and even my toddler was in awe of the images shown on the walls. You can end by coloring your version of his famous paintings, and for an additional $5, you have the option of a virtual reality experience. It's about a half mile south of T-Mobile Park. If you walk along Occidental Avenue, starting with the T-Mobile Park garage on the left, you'll find it a few blocks away, kitty corner from the Krispy Kreme palace. Since I walked, didn't look into the parking situation, but on a Friday afternoon, there was plenty parking on the same lot as the exhibition. Not sure if it was free or paid. Small lots were open for the ballgame crowd and there may have been some street parking. Paid extra in advance for open arrival time, as opposed to a specific appointment time, because of health issues, head of the line privileges, because of bad knees, and the virtual 3-D experience. Could have saved $20+. There was no line. Walked in, no one else was at the front desk. Two arrived behind me. At the end, if you didn't prepay for the virtual tour of Arles and its environs, it was $5 extra. The gift shop, WHEW! The prices! Bought a silk scarf, $75! Sign said "Silky," but when I opened it later, it was labeled 100% silk and smelled like silk. An apron for a friend was $45. Cotton face masks, $17 a pop. Who's getting this money? Van Gogh had no known heirs and copyrights expired ages ago. The back story of Van Gogh's life was a little thin. Thanks to four years of comprehensive French language, plus art, culture, history, music, et al, with Sister Gemma, merci beaucoup, Ma Sœur, this was a Must See exhibit. But didn't learn much new. The immersive portion was most impressive. Could have stayed there for hours but already had tickets to see Shohei Ohtani play baseball. The Japonisme section was the best, especially being inundated in almond blossoms, á la mode Japonaise, a favorite piece. The virtual reality experience ended the show. Seemed a bit blurry but was worth seeing town and country views juxtaposed with Van Gogh artworks. If it ever returns to Honolulu, closed early in 2020, because of COVID, would see it again, skipping the intro rooms and heading for the immersion room. Can always double back. To save a few bucks, would definitely check to see if the crowds warranted extra payment for head of the line treatment and skip the 3-D show. Photography is allowed. Believe masks were required but not everyone was wearing them. I asked ahead if I could bring a cane, which helped a lot. Nowadays, you don't know what's OK from venue to venue. Drawbacks. Buying online means signing up for Fever, downloading a new app, and activating iCloud, which I wanted to avoid. Fever then overwhelms your email with SPAM. If these are concerns, recommend looking into paying in person, if that's an option. read more

I loved the exhibit! It was definitely different but I am a Van Gogh fan in every medium. Show casing some of his great work in this interactive experience is fun and will expose more people about his work. The space was great , I thought it was going to be really cold in there, since I thought it was an old abandoned warehouse in SODO. Good air flow, enough space for people to move about the exhibit. The exhibit is like a light show of Van Gogh work. Defitnetly a must see if you are a fan of art, Van Gogh or just looking for something to do. read more

A well thought out experience if you are interested in Van Gogh. After all the trouble Seattle had with tickets, Fever, dates and location it was a relief to finally get there. The interactive part is really the walk through galleries. Giving you incredible insights to Van Gogh and his turbulent life. Perspectives that even we did not know. Presented neatly and with nice visuals. The display/light show is nice and looks cool, but far from the most compelling part of this experience. If you have been to Europe on a summer night these displays are run all over cool old buildings and town squares. During our visit the crew was very nice and we were lucky to go at a low ebb time. Really worth your time for love of art and a nice little coming out of covid interaction. read more

Well... I was whelmed. Besides the repeated delay and the rather suspicious ticketing provider, I did finally make it to the show. Going through the show, they present you with some of Van Gogh's art printed on some fabric or canvases which is really blah. I mean, anybody can go and print his artwork on canvas. At least add some depth to the artwork by buying better replicas with brushstrokes. All of the art looked and was absolutely flat. There are two projection mapped statues near the beginning of the exhibition. That's the peak level of creativity for this group. There's a couple more exhibits further in where they try to create more depth, but given that there's so few I didn't find it very compelling. Of course the big centerpiece is the big "immersive" room. There's about 30 projectors covering the walls and the floor. It was also very whelming. The technical work was good, but the creative was really boring. There's no narrative. There's not much that ties the whole thing together. It's "randomly" generated, but it's more like the system randomly decides which painting shows up in which location but plays the exact same file for that piece. The interactions are all pre-rendered. The whelming experience continues into the VR headset. There's a lot of inconsistencies as to the viewer's height. In some parts the viewer is like 8' tall. In others 2' tall. In my play through I experienced the same bug multiple times where I was outside of the VR world. It was like I could touch the dome in the Truman show and then go outside of it. Overall, meh. This doesn't live up to any hype. read more
