I am honestly extremely impressed with the entire staff at this office. My mother in law had a problem arise and with no insurance we were forced to pay out of pocket. The front office girls immediately communicated when we walked in the office and were extremely polite. Dr. Van was truly so kind and I know put my mother in law at ease during her visit. A Dentist I really like and him and his staff do good honest work but I just ran into an issue with scheduling/staff. I had to do a last minute reschedule twice, and be warned they have a $75 reschedule fee, which is sometimes greater than my appointment depending on my insurance and services. I tolerate it as I do like him, but the 2nd time I was told with an upset tone I could not even schedule until I paid the $150 in rescheduling fees even though, for years, I never had a problem paying what they asked. I get rescheduling issues, but refusing to schedule for a long term patient unless i go to the office to pay or tell an upset/emotional staff member my credit card number is not something I am comfortable with. read more

This dental office was everything and more! I don't usually have high expectations for dental offices, just from my past experiences, but this place right away felt like home! They are very cautious with COVID which I can understand and appreciate, but that doesn't take away from them making you feel right at home as soon as you check in. They knew I was their new patient, which only meant they walked me through everything and introduced me to everyone. That's when I met Dr. Van. He is so awesome! If you have found this yelp page in search of a dentist, I would like to congratulate you because you have just won the dentist jackpot! Dr. Van and his staff are AMAZING. I really mean that--AMAZING. Finding a good dentist is like finding a good mechanic--super hard to find someone who will do the job right and is not trying to rip you off. Dr. Van and his staff are incredibly friendly, funny, calming and skilled. I needed a ton of dental work done--I went to another dentist (often has ads on the radio for cosmetic dentistry) and they quoted me a price that was in the range of a new (nice) car. I was so devastated because I wanted to fix my smile but there was no way I was able to afford that. Went to some other dentists as well but all the work they wanted to do was so segmented....it's like they wanted me to do the expensive things first and weren't concerned about what may be best for me in the long run and didn't care/have interest in figuring out how to best utilize my insurance. A coworker of my husband recommended Dr. Van and I cannot express how grateful I am for that referral! First off, Sandy is a master of figuring out how best to use your insurance. She is like an insurance wizard lol...usually I would just get blank stares and told that I needed to figure out what exactly my insurance would cover and we all know how confusing that can be. And the previous quote in the range of a new car from the other dentist??--Dr. Van did the work for literally about 1/15th of the cost. Even when I switched insurance and Dr. Van became out of network for me, I STILL was getting a better deal than with other places. He basically rebuilt my smile and I get compliments all the time on my teeth. He is a perfectionist and cares so much about the happiness of his patients and it truly shows. It means so much to have a dentist that I fully trust and I am so grateful everyday that I don't have to hide my teeth anymore. Words cannot describe this man's abilities and big heart. BEST dentist I've ever been to. LONG story short, I needed a tooth removed. Cracked crown, infected etc... I live in Georgia!!! Drove across the country to pick up my wife with this pain. At 1 am, Doctor Van woke up after a long day and didn't say ANYTHING except "Let's get that pain out of you!" Then to leave at almost 330 in the morning to be at work at 7. How many people, let alone doctors would do that. Driving along Valencia Blvd looking for 23734 and I passed the cop shop, of course I had to look over there. Why is that ? Well I missed the address again ! ^#$&*, 23734 Got it ! , I don't see any Dentist office or sign, till I drove by twice; Don't look at the cop, shop ! Its across the street . Ok let's look at the directory, Gary VanGrinven DDS third floor, this must be him. As you can tell this is my first time in as many years. Yes "I'm bad". Meeting new people is always nice. However this place put a smile on my face from the moment I walked thru the doors, the lovely receptionist could sense my apprehension and handed me the clipboard and I stood right there and went thru the questions, I only embellished a bit At my age it is acceptable isn't it ? A stunning young lady invited me back and i was told I needed a full set of x-rays. Once this was done she walked me to the "RooM" Wow what a great view ! I can even see people in the parking lot; do you know how many people go back to their car right after locking it ? Another lady entered the room and said hi , I know there was a smile somewhere under the mask , but at first I had to stare , she told me to relay and the two ladies started my exam, 2,4,3,2,2,3,2,4,2,3,2, I got lost but was told my teeth were doing "ok" and the doctor will be in a few , I could see In the background and hear the laughter from this basketball size man walking back and forth , and I hear he is making coffee too ? What a guy ! Another moment goes by and the big shadow Dr. is looking over my x-rays, Yes he say's aloud the liver has to come out. This is how this office rolls ...... smiles, banter and laughter. I was shocked to hear I was in good shape, Dr. Van. Even consoled my concerns about what I thought were teeth issues. Rather than taking care of my teeth as always, I began to notice I seemed to be needing a lot more dental work than usual. Sharing this experience over the years I learned that much of dentistry was becoming a business of selling rather than just curing. Fast forward to now. I still have yet to have seven fillings done that I had been told were necessary by other dentists literally decades ago! My wife had a similar experience after leaving her old dentist. Dr. Van is the best dentist in SCV/Valencia area. I took my daughter (7 yrs) to him. Dr. Van extracted baby tooth which was bothering her. Dr. Van did that very professionally and he talked with her throughout the procedure and she didn't even knew when Dr Van was done! I have very bad teeth but like me Dr Van believes in saving tooth structure rather than recommending implant for everyone. He is very knowledgeable and very professional in his work. Unfortunately I'm moving out of the area. Not sure whether I'll be able to find dentist like him at new place. His staff is very understanding and adjusted appointments according to my schedule.
